[Q] Stock AT&T 4.2.2 rom? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Hello! I have searched around the forum and I can not find a stock (Sense 5) android 4.2.2 AT&T rom. If there is no flashable stock rom, should I RUU?
Here is my bootloader info:

When I do, I assume I will lose S-Off; should I keep my bootloader unlocked?
Becuase I rooted on Android 4.1.1 (3.18), can I RUU with the 3.18 instead (so i can root the stock rom)?

You won't lose s-off, no need to relock your bootloader. You can use any Evita RUU you want, and you can root any of them as long as you leave your bootloader unlocked, then you can install TWRP recovery again after the RUU, and use TWRP to install Superuser or SuperSU to get root again.

Ok Great! A few more questions. If I run the 5.18 RUU, will my bootloader be updated?
Like you said, after any RUU I should still be able to flash TWRP and then install SU to get root. Is it really that simple?

Your firmware will be updated, which includes your hboot (updated to 2.15). And yes, it's really that simple, as long as your bootloader is unlocked you can flash TWRP, and as long as you have TWRP you can get root.

If I make a TWRP backup of my current rom, will I be able to restore that rom (If i need to) after RUU and installing TWRP again?
Should I back up the boot partition with the rom backup, or just the data and system partitions?

please help needed to restore stock rom - RUU failed

Hi guys, recently my Desire S got some problems with sending/receivng sms and calls (tried 2 sim, different roms) so I decide to revert it back to stock rom and send it to RMA.
First i tried to install a RUU (ok, now I know it has'nt been a good idea), but installation failed with an error like "can't install, wrong bootloader".
Now I have a phone without recovery, with HBOOT 2.00.0002 and says:
***LOCKED***
***Security Warning***
SAGA PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT 2.00.0002
etc.
Could anyone tell me what to do now? Thank you all!
I would try and run the official ics ruu and then unlock via htcdev then flash custom recovery and then gain root and then change the misc version and then lock bootloader then finally run your region ruu to get back to stock but have a search about coz there is plenty of guides out there.
good luck

I succefully installed ICS RUU and then unlocked with HTC dev. Then I flashed clockwork mod via fastboot. Now I'm still on S-ON and my question is: if I restore an old nandroid backup that I made when I was on old 0.98 hboot, will this overwrite my hboot? I don't know if it works since I'm still S-ON.

No, it won't change your hboot. But you will have to flash the boot.img from the backup in fastboot.

How to restore stock ATT?

Hi All,
I need to restore my unlocked/rooted HOX back to ATT stock. Looking at this thread:

I am unclear if I need to lock/unroot before installing the stock ROM or I just install over what I have. Can somebody confirm how I can restore to 100% stock?
Thanks!

How are you installing the stock ROM? I have a RUU that HTC sent me that does all the installation and other stuff with one click, but I had to relock my bootloader before it would work properly.
"fastboot oem lock" in bootloader then run the ruu. to unlock/root again just flash your unlock token in fastboot again using "fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin", flash twrp, then flash CWM-SuperSU-v0.99.zip in recovery.
super easy and super quick
Thanks for the help. I will re-lock the boot loader and simply install the stock RUU.

[SOLVED] MaximusHD 10.0.0 back to Stock

So this is my situation,
after using MaximusHD 10.0.0, I would like to go back to my stock rom. The problem is that I lost my nandroid back-up because of flashing another update version of twrp. I'm a little bit new to all this android flashing stuff, so I was wondering if anybody could help me?
I was planning of using a guild for this, which i can't post because i'm a new user, who says just to relock bootloader and use a RUU. But instead of using the T-mobile version, I wanted to use a RUU file for Europe.
Before I was going to start with this, I wanted to make a nandroid back-up, but CWM can't mount my SD-card.
So, how do I start going back to the stock rom from MaximusHD 10.0.0 on my HTC One S C4?
Ask for more info if needed!
[Update]: I found a solution for my can't mount SD Problem. So can somebody help me finding a right RUU? (I live in Belgium)
Try to flash TWRP, then you can backup.
And then flash an RUU

So, do I need to first Relock my bootloader before I run the RUU? Or is it not needed because I'm S-OFF?
im also S-Off and on Hboot 2.16, now to get back to 2.15 is this the right way ?
flash my backup of stock 3.16 Jelly Bean in TWRP
relock the bootloader
Flash 3.16 RUU.exe
Thanks
So, last little question!
What happens if the RUU gives an error?
Does your ROM is still the way it was before if you cancel the RUU after error?
Or is your ROM deleted?

It's really easy, you just have to reflash the modded version of TWRP for MaximusHD 10.0.0. All the other versions of TWRP or cwm won't work.

Yes I know its modded version , I tried to push it but it cant be done, Since I have CWM recovery, i cant put this TWRP one from maximus, it says failed: remote not allowed. I think it is because I relocked my bootloader, If I have to unlock it again, i wont be able to do it since cant use sd properly, so its doomed circle i think, need really big help guys . thanks in advance !
This is what i did.
1.oem relock
2. install org RUU, i downloaded one of the exe's and just let it do it's thing.
3. done.
4. rooted
5. flashed twrp
Okay,
So I just want to be sure about this.
Are these the ONLY steps I have to take?
1) Put device in Fastboot USB
2) Run RUU -> in this case http://www.androidruu.com/getdownload.php?file=Ville/RUU_Ville_U_JB_45_S_HTC_Europe_3.16.401.8_Radio_1.11.50.05.28_10.27.50.08L_release_301814_signed_2_4.exe

Relock the phone first, i don't know why, but i read on the forums that you have too when returning to stock.
1. in cmd "fastboot oem lock" phone now says "relocked"
2. from fastboot run RUU exe and wait.
3. done
In my case the RUU flashed me back to hboot 1.13, so install all updates from htc, then it updated to hboot 2.15.
So now you need to re-unlock the phone, and flash a new recovery.
If you want CM11 hboot 2.15 you need to flash modded recovery from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2528113
If you don't CM11 flash will fail.
Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583427&highlight=tutorial and follow STEP 1.
That should re-unlock the phone.
STEP 2 flashes new recovery. Skip STEP 3.
After recovery has been flashed, boot into recovery, then press "reboot" and reboot to bootloader, if you flashed twrp it will ask to install superSU.
Now you are ready to flash anything again.
Is it necessary to re unlock?
Because i'm not planning on changing rom soon.
Thanks for the help!
You don't need to flash new rom, if you want to stay on stock you can, stock will still boot fine afterwards.

I was in a similar situation a few days ago. In my case i couldn't boot into Android or recovery mode and the device was stuck in a reboot loop. I run RUU to reset everything to original factory settings. You have to relock your bootloader before you run RUU. It'll reset your root etc and you'll have to start from scratch. There's no need to run an RUU at this stage. Just downgrade to TWRP 2.6 and you'll be able to use the 'mount usb storage' feature again to copy a ROM zip across. Use the Kickdroid ROM and try Rumrunner s-off again.
The last thing you wanna do is change your CID back, then you'll be totally screwed. Just do what I said above and you should be fine.

I managed to relock, run the 2.2 RUU, re-unlock and root again to get an unbricked stock phone. Facepalm didn't work so I'll give kickdroid and rumrunner a go.
EDIT: Kickdroid seems to require a firmware higher than the one I have to work which requires s-off for me to get without bricking. know of any older roms that are unsecure and rumrunner will work on?
Just got frustrated and did the RUU again. but this time I managed to get s-off! don't know what I did different this time but thanks to both of you!

Kickdroid only needs the newer firmware to stop signal loss problems and random reboots. You could have used it to get s-off. But you got it in the end!
