Alephbet Hiragana will teach you to read and write Japanese Hiragana quickly and effectively. Unlike other apps that push overnight memorization, Alephbet Hiragana takes you through ten short, manageable lessons and gives you the reading practice you need. You will only encounter words, phrases and sentences that use the Hiragana you've learned so far.

By the end of the lessons, you will have incrementally learned and practiced each of the Hiragana and committed them to memory. Learn to read and write at a natural pace without the help of mnemonics or tricks. Comprehensive Writing and Reading Practice modes at the end of the lessons will make sure you solidify the material.
Features:
* Ten lessons that cover pronunciation and reading tips
* Reading practice with carefully chosen words that you can actually read
* Writing practice on the popup view
* Audio examples to perfect your reading

Feedback and comments are happily accepted. Thank you!
Following up Alephbet Hiragana is Alephbet Katakana. Katakana is challenging because it occurs so infrequently, but with words specifically picked for the application, Alephbet Katakana will give you a list of words and phrases to practice on. Just like Alephbet Hiragana, you will encounter only the Katakana you've learned so far in your lessons, so you can practice reading whole, complete words and phrases.

Any chance to create one for Kanji?

Yes Kanji is in the pipeline, it is being brainstormed right now. The approach we have planned is a little different, with the lessons covering things like radicals and groupings rather than the most common kanji to the least common. However, this will be several weeks down the line. Both the Katakana and Hiragana apps will be getting content updates first, and frankly kanji is just a tougher one to approach. But keep an eye out, I'll make another post to this thread when it comes out.

Thanks! I'm really having a hard time learning and memorizing Kanjis. I'm hoping that it will be user-friendly and of course, really easy to cope and learn with... :good:

Kanji is definitely challenging, sadly practice is a must and repeated exposure. We're still brainstorming, but at the moment our approach seems to be to touch on common radicals, structures, placement and basically tackle how each kanji is written. The idea is that we can only cover maybe 100 kanji in the app, but the lessons will give you some tools to guess at the meaning of the kanji and also give you a systematic way of organizing them as you learn. By breaking down the kanji to some components, memorization should come easier than the brute method used by most textbooks.

Suggestion: Since you said "practice", a Mini-Games or Short-Quizzes would be helpful for it... And since you said "exposure", some Reading Practice Section (like read a sentence and translate it) would be good as well... desune?
Of course, it's still a suggestion, so no forcing this onto you is intended... :good:

Thanks for the suggestions. The practice section will feature longer sentences and probably some paragraphs. I think mini games might be a bit far off for now, but it's definitely something we would like to implement. Someone else suggested playing sounds and a blank canvas which is pretty cool.

Yep exactly. Someone suggested that we prompt users with either the sound files or text prompts and ask users to write out the hiragana character without the word printed on the back. Pretty simple.
Unfortunately we don't have an official site. It doesn't seem like it'd be worth the time for such a simple app.
In the last week, we pushed out two major updates for both Alephbet Hiragana and Alephbet Katakana. The first update was a Writing Practice mode where you must write out hiragana or katakana characters based on a random prompt. You are given a blank box to practice writing, and also the romaji and sound. This will help you recall the stroke order, and of course the answer is available if you need it.
The second update was the Reading Practice mode. Instead of coming up with phrases of our own, we decided to find something a bit more cultural. Alephbet Hiragana now includes a large selection of haiku poems by the 17th century poet Matsuo Basho. You read through the hiragana and tap on the lines you are stuck on to reveal the romaji pronunciation. Alephbet Katakana instead has an extended verse from a Buddhist scripture, the Lotus Sutra. Again, translations, original text and romaji are all provided.
And lastly, for those waiting for a Kanji app, it is finally shaping up. The lessons have all been drafted at this point and is being proofread. Because of the differences, the app will need some reprogramming instead of a port like the katakana and hiragana apps. So it will still be a few weeks, but it is moving along and will hopefully be the best Alephbet app yet.
For some phrases there are no audios, like Lesson 1: for "to say", "Hey!", "on top", "fish", "good", "many" and "like that".
Will there be updates?

I'm making this thread in the hopes some ppl will try it, give me some feedback, etc. I have a small group of about 5 people who have been helping me make this in the past 3 weeks, and It's come a long way.
OK, so here it is.
ScanDroid Kingdoms is a Barcode Battler, with RPG elements.
You scan barcodes to create your creatures. You currently can have as many as you like.
You can then battle your creatures against "Barcode NPCs", or battle online against other people on the ScanDroid Network.
You can take advantage of your "Daily Scans" to gain items, exp, or currency.
You can also share your creature via QR code for others to scan and battle, instead of using the online listings.
There is an Item shop, where you can buy things with currency.
Currency(ScanCreds) are gained when you scan for anything in the game.
Soon to be added:
Quests
Leaderboards
Equipment
Crafting
Online Trade House/Auction House
Skills for both Players and Creatures
Friends List
Messaging
I also have a donate version on the market, if anyone finds this game fun and wants to help keep it going at a fast pace, I'd appreciate it.
Currently there is NO difference between the free and donate versions.
Once the game is out of BETA, there will be differences.
Free version will not have multiple creature management, and will have a level cap(will be a higher one, like 40 or so). It will not get all the quests the Donate version will get either. But that is down the road.
I hope you like it and please respond if you have tried it, let me know what you think, and I'll try to do what I can to make the game more to your liking! I am trying to make this game as much a community project as I can, as I find that others seem to have great ideas I would have never thought of.

Been playing this for a while and so far I'm liking it. I'm also on the beta team for Barcode Beasties.
There's a few things not quite right and/or lacking in your game. I don't seem to get "daily scans" only scan accumulated through online battles. Sorry if I'm misunderstanding this but to me "daily scans" would indicate we get an amount of scans allocated to us every day. In the online battling feature it would be handy if we could see the other creatures level as well as their name in the listing of potential opponents, it would save us loading an opponent up, seeing they're too far above us in level terms then having to go back in and load another.
I also have a question. are we allowed to re-scan codes ever ie. is it a once per day scan limit or is it a persistent limit that never allows us to scan the same code twice??
Anyways, loving the game and hope it does well, would love to see your game and Barcode Beasties combined but I suppose you both being in competition so to speak will cause both games to have to strive for excellence.

Hey, thanks for the reply!
OK, so first:
You get 20 scans per day, refreshed at the start of each day.
Also, due to a very recent update, you can have a chance to gain an extra scan upon winning a match. Before, you would win a scan after EVERY win of match, which gave too many scans to them.
Having the level of each creature next to the name is a feature I have heard about quite a bit lately, and I am truly looking for a solution to have implemented in the next few days.
Also, it saves all UPCs in a db, and does not allow you to scan the same one twice, to keep ppl from figuring out what codes give what and keep ppl scanning in different places and situations.
Also, I saw Barcode Beasties hasn't been updated in a long while(market shows nov 10, 2010.) Is it still be worked on I take it? Also, I consider Barcode Beasties to be a different game for the most part, and the direction our team has planned for this game will take it so far off course from Barcode Beasties that they won't even be able to be compared after a while.
Thanks for the input, hope to hear from you again.
If you are interested in joining up with us on beta development, let me know, I would be glad to have you on board. Email me at [email protected] If you are interested.
Installed the game and gave it a try, so far everything seems great.
A little more flashiness to the UI might be in order, by no means does it look bad. A WP7 style setup for the buttons would fill in the blank space left by the smaller buttons currently, give the entire application more flow. (Mainly referring to the buttons in Barracks/Battle etc... change from small grey boxes to WP7 style buttons with large graphics)
The barcode scan portion works great, had no problems there.
Battle wise everything was fine, however the battle text was a little slow. Perhaps having an option to speed up the battle text, or make it go to the next round via tap interaction?
Definite thumbs up for this app. Plays well, no errors encountered as of yet, and I really enjoy the concept. Cant wait to see how it grows.

Thanks for trying it. The UI is fairly new right now, but we are trying to find ways to make it easier and more appealing. I will take the idea you had and see if it can help us at all.
Good idea for the battle text, ill add it to our bugs/feature tracker.

NEW Inventory System to test out!
Also, as with any update during the BETA, please contact me([email protected]) if anything is not working properly, and Ill do what i can to fix it ASAP!
Also, still looking for a couple more people who want to join the teams beta testing division, so we can get the updates tested a little faster so I can send them to the market quicker!

Why not ? PM me, and we'll figure it out
Hi,
Interesting game... My daughter and I have been testing it for the last 30 minutes or so...
It's fun and addictive, but I have a few issues/remarks :
(1) I don't understand why we sometimes fail, while we have apparently gone successfully through a level, as in picture below :
Please provide some explanation
(2) This is too quickly becoming too difficult ("At school" solo play)... we're stuck at level 6... I can't imagin level 100 !!!
OK we've only played for about 30 minutes so we probably need more training...
But given the way the game is designed, there a level will be reached where mathematically there will be too many Red dots to fill the surface so that your drip will never be able to reach a blue dot without hitting a red dot: to me this is mathematical/mecanical... so there will be no way to win these types of high levels (say maybe by level 30 or 20 or even 15)... The idea that beyond a certain level, it is mechanically impossible to win a level is quite frustrating...
But definitely, I must be missing something about how the game is designed... please explain
In any case, keep the good work... this is very promising
you updated the game.
and now it is too easy now.
So please undo.
Donna
Tnx for the feedback!

"don't understand why we sometimes fail"
I can imagine it is not clear: You should at least drain 1000.
(That's where the red line over the bottle stands for.)
Growing big enough opens the Pit, but is only phase 1 of succeeding a level.
Then you still have to drain 1000 or more in the pit.
So be careful not to get bitten on your way in.
(Maybe I should explain better in the "How To?".
But I wonder if anybody reads that.
Did you?)
"This is too quickly becoming too difficult"
Getting up to level 6 in less than 30 minutes is not so bad.
And yes, getting to level 100 is impossible.
But there are some tips and tricks.
And notice: In higher levels the generated reds are smaller.
First "trick", generate your own reds by moving (a little) to fast.
If you get trained in it, you can generate really small reds.
And don't be affright to eat big reds before they become really big.
The highest school level I know that has been accomplished till now (not by me though, but a friends girlfriend) is 27.
School is designed for starters
The school levels are there to get the feeling for the game.
By now you can play the Playground, try it.
And the real purpose is the multiplayer mode

How do I "eat" reds? Any time I touch a red, my drip shrinks so I need to regrow again which adds more reds and more risk to get bitten by a red and so shrink again, and so on and so forth...

I don't understand this "trick"... why would I want to create more (small) reds... the more reds there are on the screen the more I fail because they are all over the place and I can't avoid touching them, so I'm getting smaller, so I need to grow again, which creates more reds...
I'm very sorry, but it's still not clear to me , and you need the tutorial to be more explicit...

You are so right. And that still is where the trick is in:
Eat reds, just by touching them (it does cost you health indeed) and the thing is: Do it when they are big! (Strange but true. Don't let them become really big.) But these are all tactics you should discover yourself.
Surfinette said:

Click to collapse
Simply: If you create a red, you have some control over it.
If the game creates it, you don't.
So create them yourself before the game does.
Don't create more than needed. If so: Eat the biggest one! (Or the one that is likely to collide with another red)
If you are at level 20 or so: Create some groups of small congruent reds, so you can move around or between the groups...
(But now we are getting to higher Drippitt! knowledge... Lol)

Hi everyone!
We are very excited to announce that ChineseSkill - Learn Chinese for Android is available now!
We don’t need to tell you that learning Chinese is hard. There are thousands of characters, several different tones, and just an overall confusing grammar and writing system. If that wasn’t bad enough, most of the resources available for learning Mandarin Chinese are expensive, and time-consuming. The Chinese language has and does deserve its notoriety for heartbreaking difficulty.
ChineseSkill is here to rectify that reputation and change the way people study Mandarin Chinese, completely free. Tackle the Chinese language head on by learning in an easy and stress-free way through a series of fun games.
Here are some screenshots of ChineseSkill:

“I really enjoy this app! I pay a lot for a Mandarin's beginners class and in three days with this app I learned more. ”
“A great resource for students to practice their reading, writing and listening. I am a Mandarin Chinese teacher teaching beginning level of grade 4,5 and 6 in Connecticut, USA. This app has great potential as teaching/reviewing tool for Chinese language learners.”
“I use a suite of tools: Nulinuli, Mindsnacks, Brainscape, Pleco, Rosetta Stone. I was very excited to find ChineseSkills. It's definitely become my favorite. It makes a big effort to teach a range of elements. Characters, tones, syntax, grammar. And most importantly it has a review feature which is crucial and often missing in language learning. Definitely give ChineseSkills a go.”
“I am an avid user of Duolingo. I felt both intrigued and bad for trying Chinese Skills because I thought I was supporting an imitation. Feelings now is that this app definitely imitates duolingo's app but in return offers us a Duolingo like progression of vocabulary and grammar for Mandrin. There will be plenty of demand for such a course and at least such a resource now exists. Thank you.”
“This is one of the best Chinese learning apps out there! It teaches you both important vocabulary and grammar. It is a must have! Plus, other apps are expensive and still cannot compare to the quality of this app.”

This is a good idea for learning chinese. Very happy to find down it. Learning chinese is a my very difficult job. Sometimes i'm tied and want to give up,but now every thing is resolved.this aap really helpful. It makes chinese becomes more simple now. Thank you!
For years I've been terrified of Chinese because everyone made it seem to be the big "monster language." Not only that, but I didn't want to spend large amounts of money on resources that wouldn't work. With this app, I've been studying for a few days now, and it's great. I feel like I'm learning the language nobody can learn. At first the Chinese characters were overwhelming, and I wish there was a better approach such as writing exercises for each symbol, but I've also recognized that a lot of it has to be on my own part with a journal. This really is a wonderful app, and given a few weeks, I really think I'll go far. Thank you so much!

How is your Chinese now?
Thanks for your suggestion.
If you are Chinese, I think your speaking and listening are better than other second language learners. But it takes time to practice reading and writing.
We will consider to make more functions to support adaptive learning.
And I am here waiting for your further feedback when you finish the whole App.

One of my main suggestions is that the popup that appears when getting a problem correct can be used more efficiently. Instead of saying "Excellent!", it could say "Excellent! (That boy is also reading newspapers)". This will confirm understanding of the meaning, I think. This is a simple change, maybe it could be an option in the settings?
Awesome!
We will make change to that and make the POPUP more efficient.
Thanks for giving us such brilliant idea.
:good:

Thank you very much for this wonderful app, I have learned so much from it in these days I actually studied!
My two cents:
When writing a translation from English to pinyin if the answer is incorrect the correction is given in Chinese characters. So you can't check your errors. It would be nice to have the corrections in both systems.
The translating to English exercise only allows one specific answer, and marks other, equally correct answers as incorrect. It would be nice to add a button like "I was right" to implement the ability to suggest correct answers.
Thanks, man,
We are going to update Chineseskill in one month. In the following update, we will make the POPUP bar much more efficient for learning. Just as you suggested here.
And yes, you made another brilliant suggestion as to add the "I was right" button. This really help.
We appreciate you suggestions so much.
谢谢!

With pinjin training list. I trained some days with it and my pronunciation is much better now.
I wish this app had more than one speaker's voice for the sample audio.
I'm glad I downloaded it.
Good job!

No problem, send any feature requests and it will probably be implemented in coming updates. Goal for this app is a young student help and learning tool, I would have loved something like this in elementary or high school.
When it comes to accuracy, closer is better. The app isn't very accurate if you take the picture from a distance, if you move the phone very close to the question it should be really good accuracy though.

What type of word problems are you looking to have solved (Example of possible)? I have something in the works on this, but it is very early.
Problems like "What is one plus one times eight" is very easy but rarely ever used. Problems with lots of context are a lot harder. For example, "Ben initially has with 1 apple. Kelly gives him another one. Ben now wants to sell this at his store, Healthy Fruits, for $2.00 each. How much does he make if he sells all his apples?"

Thanks for the photo. We probably won't be able to solve word questions that also have charts or tables anytime soon. In the near future we will support linear equations and more with a table of values and a graph (automathapp.com/examples/table-of-values, automathapp.com/examples/graphing [The screenshots are actually from what I have developed so far]). So you can just take a picture of "p=5b-15" in our app and get a table of values and graph from it. This will allow you to get rate of change and x and y intercepts in seconds.
*Edit Linear equations, graphing, and table of values now supported.
Video Proof
For people having problems, here is a video of the app solving every question on our website and some weird ones below as an extra (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYladg1nCYM). If you are still having problems with accuracy try going closer to the question or changing focus modes. If the camera isn't working or nothing is recognizing at all then please contact us at [email protected], this is a device incompatibility and we will need more information in order to fix it. We test on as much devices as we can get our hands on but that is not even a fraction of the 7000+ android devices on android 2.3+
Graphing and Tables now Supported
Our new update now supports graphing and table of values as well as a ton of new features and improvements. Here is a demo of the graphing (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpIA7JhDZ_Q)
This app looks nice and the idea behind it is good but the ocr data base is horrible and needs alot of work

Whoa!!
This app is amazing!!!!!!! Keep developing and thanks!

Thanks for the feedback. We are coming out with a huge accuracy update in the near future. For now the app is still brand new and requires a few instructions for recognition to work best:
- Image should be sharp, blurry images will not work
- There should be nothing else but the question in the picture so crop as close to question as possible
- Text must be straight
- Handwritten questions are not yet supported, you can try elementary mode for better accuracy, but it is still not yet ready
We know recognition is still far from perfect and are working to improve it constantly. We released it early so people can have something decent to use rather then nothing while iOS and even Windows users already have a decent app like this.
Congrats for the app, I liked the idea, it's very promising but try to improve the UI, it's kinda ugly

AutoMath 2.0
New BIG update AutoMath 2.0 improves accuracy and performance by TONS. It adds super quick mode with *experimental* multiple question support. Check the video if you wanna see it in ACTION. Lucky Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 9 users get to use the faster Camera 2 API with real MANUAL FOCUS. Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 users can see this thread on why they don't get manual focus (https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=82219). The video below also shows manual focus in action.

If you find this app useful please donate or rate 5 stars so I can keep on developing this baby. I won't add any ads as it's distracting while studying.
Help to Teachers and Math Writers
Forgot to include the app also allows you to get LaTeX output from an image. Useful for teachers and math writers.

4. Absolutely high quality audio pronunciation by native professional speakers;

What are you going to learn?
3000+ characters;
10000+ words;
3000+ core sentences.
You will have courses that cover:
7000+ key images;
1000+ wonderful pictures;
1000+ Original cartoons;
Amusing stories about Greeting and Introductions, Shopping, Chinese food, Travel, Friends and Social life, Dinning and Vacation...and more!
I also find it helpful when starting out to have a notebook to copy the characters and things into so it reinforces what you learn. I am using the app Chinese Skill, and other than a few things that need fixed here and there, it is OK. The BEST way for English speakers to learn this is to be around someone that speaks Chinese as their first language. Yes, there is bound to be confusion but overall I have learned more Chinese dating someone who mainly speaks Chinese. I am going to get a notebook and use this app to see if it helps more, or less, than the way I am using another app now and will leave feedback. Especially, if this hits on words the other one does not and vice versa. :good:

First off, could we get a menu after selecting start when first running the app that would allow the selection of difficulty, a dictionary of learned words/sentences, as well as kind of a quick reference guide for when we need/want specific sentences that we have not learned? I am going to visit China next year, hopefully, and I know I won't have it all down and a reference guide would be crucial as I don't want my Girlfriend to have to think she has to translate for me. Otherwise, I do like the references to other objects such as fire. That is pretty unique.

Illogi.xbone, Thank you so much for your feedback! Your advice helps us a lot. And I'm glad to tell you, now we are improving app just like what you want, our next plan will meet more needs like you. So I'll tell you if we announced a new version.
Furthermore, could you tell me some details about using MagiChinese?
1. The speed when using app and watching cartoon: quick, general or slow?
2. Are there any errors when using?
3. How do you think about the learning design?
Speed for my phone is decent, using an s4 that has some cold damage. The learning design is a bit different but overall pretty good! I haven't really run into too many errors yet so that is always a plus =D
Thank you for your feedback, Illogi.xbone. Quality of content and user Experience are what we care most, and we'll do our best to improve it in the future. So any suggestions or oppositions are useful : )
