I built this app, by myself, from scratch, in my own free time. Yes, it's an HTML5 app. I lack the time and skill to properly do a native one.
I do not want to deprive any students(or whoever lol) who cannot buy this app of this wonderful app! You may also freely distribute(i.e. pirate) this app. However, be aware that any pirated version of this app lacks this feature: that warm fuzzy feeling that you get from purchasing this app, allowing me to buy another cup of Milo

Oh, and if all goes well, next update will include calculus!

OK, for some reason it won't accept a cutter diameter. When I type in .5 it just blanks out the field when I move on to another field or click 'calculate'.
Looks nice. Eager to see where this goes.

Now that's really strange, it works perfectly fine for me. When I type .5 and select another field, 0.5 remains there.
EDIT: oh I pinned down the issue. Anyway, a quick workaround is to type simply type 0.5. It would seem that it is an issue relating to how android handles a numerical input :/ I'm not sure how to word around that for now.

Katakana is challenging because it occurs so infrequently, but with words specifically picked for the application, Alephbet Katakana will give you a list of words and phrases to practice on. Just like Alephbet Hiragana, you will encounter only the Katakana you've learned so far in your lessons, so you can practice reading whole, complete words and phrases.

Yes Kanji is in the pipeline, it is being brainstormed right now. The approach we have planned is a little different, with the lessons covering things like radicals and groupings rather than the most common kanji to the least common. However, this will be several weeks down the line. Both the Katakana and Hiragana apps will be getting content updates first, and frankly kanji is just a tougher one to approach. But keep an eye out, I'll make another post to this thread when it comes out.

Thanks! I'm really having a hard time learning and memorizing Kanjis. I'm hoping that it will be user-friendly and of course, really easy to cope and learn with... :good:

Kanji is definitely challenging, sadly practice is a must and repeated exposure. We're still brainstorming, but at the moment our approach seems to be to touch on common radicals, structures, placement and basically tackle how each kanji is written. The idea is that we can only cover maybe 100 kanji in the app, but the lessons will give you some tools to guess at the meaning of the kanji and also give you a systematic way of organizing them as you learn. By breaking down the kanji to some components, memorization should come easier than the brute method used by most textbooks.

Suggestion: Since you said "practice", a Mini-Games or Short-Quizzes would be helpful for it... And since you said "exposure", some Reading Practice Section (like read a sentence and translate it) would be good as well... desune?
Of course, it's still a suggestion, so no forcing this onto you is intended... :good:

Thanks for the suggestions. The practice section will feature longer sentences and probably some paragraphs. I think mini games might be a bit far off for now, but it's definitely something we would like to implement. Someone else suggested playing sounds and a blank canvas which is pretty cool.

Yep exactly. Someone suggested that we prompt users with either the sound files or text prompts and ask users to write out the hiragana character without the word printed on the back. Pretty simple.
Unfortunately we don't have an official site. It doesn't seem like it'd be worth the time for such a simple app.

In the last week, we pushed out two major updates for both Alephbet Hiragana and Alephbet Katakana. The first update was a Writing Practice mode where you must write out hiragana or katakana characters based on a random prompt. You are given a blank box to practice writing, and also the romaji and sound. This will help you recall the stroke order, and of course the answer is available if you need it.
The second update was the Reading Practice mode. Instead of coming up with phrases of our own, we decided to find something a bit more cultural. Alephbet Hiragana now includes a large selection of haiku poems by the 17th century poet Matsuo Basho. You read through the hiragana and tap on the lines you are stuck on to reveal the romaji pronunciation. Alephbet Katakana instead has an extended verse from a Buddhist scripture, the Lotus Sutra. Again, translations, original text and romaji are all provided.
And lastly, for those waiting for a Kanji app, it is finally shaping up. The lessons have all been drafted at this point and is being proofread. Because of the differences, the app will need some reprogramming instead of a port like the katakana and hiragana apps. So it will still be a few weeks, but it is moving along and will hopefully be the best Alephbet app yet.

For some phrases there are no audios, like Lesson 1: for "to say", "Hey!", "on top", "fish", "good", "many" and "like that".

I also find it helpful when starting out to have a notebook to copy the characters and things into so it reinforces what you learn. I am using the app Chinese Skill, and other than a few things that need fixed here and there, it is OK. The BEST way for English speakers to learn this is to be around someone that speaks Chinese as their first language. Yes, there is bound to be confusion but overall I have learned more Chinese dating someone who mainly speaks Chinese. First off, could we get a menu after selecting start when first running the app that would allow the selection of difficulty, a dictionary of learned words/sentences, as well as kind of a quick reference guide for when we need/want specific sentences that we have not learned? I am going to visit China next year, hopefully, and I know I won't have it all down and a reference guide would be crucial as I don't want my Girlfriend to have to think she has to translate for me. Otherwise, I do like the references to other objects such as fire. That is pretty unique.

Speed for my phone is decent, using an s4 that has some cold damage. The learning design is a bit different but overall pretty good! I haven't really run into too many errors yet so that is always a plus =D

However, based on your question, it sounds like you are using concatenation with your strings. Check out this explanation why you should use string.format() especially for localization.

Thank you. Of course i know what is string.format(). And my mistake that we didn't use it on start the project. You see, we don't planning to do localization in the beginning. And now, rewrite big piece of code just for formating text is very expensive) Summary we have 7 languages in the game)

Wordcast is a local multiplayer word game designed specifically for your Chromecast. Each player connects to the same Chromecast device and then controls the game displayed on the big screen with their individual phones.
Featuring a modern, slick design as well as responsive and easy to understand controls, this puts the classic word game back into your living room and makes it a social experience once more.

Wordcast is completely ad free and allows unlimited play with the free version. Available via one time IAP is an upgrade to Wordcast Pro providing the following features:
Dictionaries
for English, Spanish, German, French and Italian. Automatically checking whether or not a played word is legit or not.
Board Layouts
10+ new Board Layout including 4x Word and Letter scores. Providing interesting new tactical challenges shaking up the game.
Pass-Along Mode
Allows any phone to be shared between multiple people and passed along instead of requiring every player to connect with their own device. Any mix is possible, one device may be shared while another may be used by just one player.
Once purchased, these features will be available to anyone you play with, as long as you are connected to the same game session. This means only one player in a group needs to make the purchase in order to unlock the Pro features for everyone.

edit: a small suggestion-can you maybe make arrows in main UI on phone while playing a bit bigger? they are really tiny to press on my screen and there is so much more space.
ill attach pic. non the less, great little app!

Thanks a lot for taking it on consideration
ive been dying to have proper time killer games on Chromecast since i owned it. the ones that do exist, dont work very well anyway. so this is refreshing and also with the games like this you dont mind a bit of latency that happens.

Yes, there aren't very many decent Chromecast games, sadly. Hopefully i can fill the void a bit.

added croatian localization
improved existing localizations
fixed various minor visual bugs
fixed potential crash caused by outdated Google Play Services

just got the update, grrat work mate.
will check trough croatian translation in app in the next few days and let you know if anything needs fixing. cheers
