Hello developers of Note 3 and Android
As everyone knows there is a great feature in LG called Knock Code and Knock On feature.
So it is an request that if any one can port this to our Note 3 to enhance the usabiity
I know about KNOCKER but that is not an option to Knock on feature, has used LG G2 for 6 month before I dropped the phone, really to be frank it is very easy to use one handed.
Thanks in advance
Hi you can use of this app

Thanks dear, But I have already mentioned about knockr as there are many people complaing about the battery and say that the screen use to be always on
Knockr sucks!! Anything to do with the LG's ease of access won't work well on our phones because:
1. It promotes laziness
2. We already have many ways of turning on our screen.
3. The battery drain is just too immense!
Sammy use cheap butons, they broke in time, maybe in 3 - 6 month or more. I use Gravity screen.
Note 3 rooted knox 0, bootloader locked, my last Samsuck crap. I want freedom.

I've had the HTC One M8 for couple months and the double tap to unlock and other gestures were fantastic and where not battery draining. If you don't like these features it's ok but you don't need to be so negative and I'm sure many Note III owners would love theses features, more features=more fun
I really wouldnt mind the real knock code from LG on my N9005 . I havent owned an lg but played with a few and it was fun, and I have the knock feature on my secondary phone, lumia 920 and i think it's quite useful. My skills are not advanced enough to help, but I can offer myself as a tester, my warranty covers everything, including knox tripped

It has this feature only if you manually turn off your screen and it will work to wake up your phone just in the first few seconds afterwards...not a fully fledged knock on code...

I have a new galaxy gt-5282, and there is a feature I want to remove. Whenever I dial a nr., an icon of the normal shape of a lock is shown, and I have to tap it twice so I can talk. Nothing in the call settings is mentioned about this. How can I remove this lock ? like a normal S2,S3 or S4 ?
H hope this is the right place for this thread.

I think its because your phone doesn't have a proximity sensor, maybe that's why Samsung added this feature.. because my old Samsung Corby had a similar (but far less annoying) feature like this...
So I don't think Samsung made an "Off" switch for this.. and the only way to remove it might be via framework or SystemUI editing.. look for a custom ROM for your phone with this feature disabled... and I'm sorry for not being able to provide you with the correct solution mate

Thank you Sami for your efforts. My original phone is S4, I just bought the GT-5282 yesterday, as it has 2 sim cards and I need that in my traveling. I opened it just today.
I have also 4.1.2 on this small phone, but you may be right, I do not see any thing beside the loud speaker at all, so it does not have a proximity sensor, but I do not see how this lock will help in such a case.
Custom ROM may be the solution, but I could not find here, or on Android forums anything about this GT-5282, they are not mentioning it at all.

Yeah, this is the problem with many mid-range or low-range phones.. There aren't many people who use this phone.. and most of them are probably average users and not Android geeks or developers...
Anyways, Proximity sensors are important for a smartphone or any touch-screen phone.. Its important because it detects how close the screen of the phone is to your body. This allows the phone to sense when you have brought the phone up to your ear. At that point, the display turns off in order to save battery. It also stops detecting "touches" to avoid unwanted input, until you take the phone away from your ear... Nowadays most phones have it and since this phone doesn't maybe that's why Samsung added that feature instead..
And yeah, you don't have to type "thank you" to thank me.. just clicking on that "thanks" button is enough
hi, I read that google now ("ok google") only activates when the screen is on. I was wondering if theres a hack or setting somewhere where you can activate it with the screen off? I mostly want this for hands-free use in the car, so I can avoid having to touch the phone while driving (big no no).
also, is there a site somewhere explaining all the features of what you can say/ask google now? or even a link with comparisons between siri and google now, and what google now cant do that siri does? I ask this cuz ill be coming from iPhone.
thanks.
I think that would really drain the battery - if possible!
However, here is a collection on some of the commands you can ask google now:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1961636
I'm really surprised how great it works! And i live in Denmark, where i can't even take full use of everything
samsung has had this with s-voice. and i think motorola enabled google now to do this on the motox but i'm not sure. yes it drains battery, but how much? depends on the cpu and driver and the software involved..... i don't have my nexus yet so i can't say "how" to do this but i would expect it to be an eventual custom feature if not a future update if it's not already in a setting somewhere.

Everything I've read has claimed that the Nexus 5 should handle this as well as MotoX since it has the Snapdragon 800. Have we ever gotten an official answer on why this won't work?

hey thanks for the link. battery drain wouldn't be too much of an issue, as usually I would just use it while the device is being charged in my car, but it would be nice to use sometimes without as well, and while leaving the screen on would be nice, a slow charging car charger, is going to charge faster with the screen off, as that's usually the most power hungry lol. so it would be nice to have the voice activation at will while using.
If some of the launcher/search code was open source, I'd imagine this would be quite easy to do.
Pretty sure I read somewhere that the 'always listening' (for "OK Google" command) requires some hardware functionality. So no, it would not be possible like it is on the Moto X.

I mean, if you had access to the facilities used by the n5 launcher source, you could likely utilize them when screen is off via software pretty easily.

Yes. But from what I understand the snapdragon 800 has that hardware built in.

Video is about 1/2 way down on the right. Processor is capable.
Lets see if I can't clear things up. If you want your phone to be always listening, you need hardware support for it unless you want your phone to die in a matter of hours. If you are okay with this , check out this app. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.RSen.OpenMic.Pheonix It also lets you configure things like only when charging or just when the screen is on to save some battery, and its actually a very nice app overall. Worth checking out.
The Moto x has a special custom chip set that allows for this always listening. Any attempt to port that feature from the Moto x would fail, as the Nexus 5 doesn't have the same chip set. The nexus 5 however, does have hardware that allows for always listening, its part of the Snapdragon 800 SOC that powers this phone, along with the Note 3 and LG G2.
But getting the feature to actually work on our phones, even with the hardware, is by no means an easy task. Read the comments on this post if you want to get an idea for what this entails. https://plus.google.com/112424215551484520138/posts/AznwFxbBapJ
So is it possible? Yes. But it is not something that is gonna be a quick easy port of small modification of an existing app, it would take some real serious work form (maybe a team even of) good Dev's to make this function.
Sorry if its not the news you wanted to hear.

If you're plugged in/wireless charging Google Now Voice commands work with the screen off.
Settings>Language & Input > Voice Input> Enhanced Google services> "OK Google" Detection>From any screen> enabled
"responds to your voice. Works when the screen is on or the device is charging."
make sure the next option "personal results" is also enabled if you want Google Now to be able to do anything
Try this app, Open Mic+. It'll do the job.
On the 6.0 update?
For me...
1. Faster fingerprint reader/unlock animation
2. New keyboard layout
3. Finally having an option to switch to pin code for alternative option if fingerprint isnt working
4. Adjustments on touchwiz
5. Google now on tap
6. New emojis
7.Faster phone ?? (hopefully)
Is speed an issue? My Note5 is smooth and quick. *shrug* Now on Tap is actually pretty cool. I don't use a protective lock screen so I don't know about that. I'd like to be able to activate Samsung Pay with a swipe up from the S-View window, but that won't happen.

Speed is definitely not an issue lol, but there are somethings that need a speed improvement.. such as the fingerprint reader. I just hope i dont see any lag. Im assuming you use Find my mobile? if you dont use a protective lock screen. And i dont use samsung pay or NFC payment for that matter, but i understand your struggle haha.
I could root my device, but i choose not to. Reason being is it will possibly lose value once Knox has been tripped.

I do use Find my Mobile but I also use this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rickclephas.fingersecurity to lock certain apps. It only locks those apps when I am not connected to my WiFi or my cars Bluetooth. Maybe with the new fingerprint API I'll lock the whole phone up.
I also noticed when watching marshmallow beta for s6/s6 edge is that the capacitive buttons dont light up when touching the screen... which is a smart move from samsung. It saves battery and it makes sense. It only lights up when pressing them or when pressing the home button.

Actually it makes no sense, whatsoever. The entire point of the capacitive buttons lighting up when you touch the screen is so you can see them in the dark in order to press them.. lighting up when you touch them makes zero sense, why would I need them to do THAT?

They didn't light up because it was a Beta and the rooted kernel broke it even more on some devices, but made them work better on other devices. There's also mods you can use to just turn them off if you don't like them. Xposed. Or just go into the settings!!!
Also, just because you don't like them being on, doesn't mean that they are pointless. Tests have also been done to see just how much battery life is affected by Capacitive buttons and you can't even tell how much they use.
By the way, a lot of people like myself, work in dark places and have to use our phones. Think about that for a minute.:good:
The only thing I'm looking forward to is a phone that doesn't get an update and have it cause the phone to be worse than before. Right now my stock Note 5 works just fine.

Debating between this phone and the mi mix 2s. By all counts the OP will have better development, and the headphone jack is a plus. The mix really has style and wireless charging. But unconfirmed reports that Android pay didn't work. Does Android pay work on a stock OP? Is it seen as certified on the Google store (can I play Netflix?). I don't plan on rooting or installing an after market ROM until later in life (if OP stops supporting it). Also how does OP handle the warranty in the US? Basically there isn't one on the mi mix 2s which is a big minus.
I'm coming from a LG V20 so I debate whether or not to upgrade at all considering it has almost everything lol

Q: Does Android pay work on a stock OP?
A: Yes! Google pay works with the Oneplus 6
Q: Is it seen as certified on the Google store?
A: Sort answer, yes. I didn't have any problems with the Google play store on my device.
Q: Can I play Netflix?
A: yes, Netflix works fine on my device.
Q: How does OP handle the warranty in the US?
A: I'm not sure, I haven't looked into this yet. I'll keep you up to date if I know more information about your question. But I'm pretty sure the warranty is alright.
Some extra information:
- Don't let the 1080p screen hold you back. The screen is gorgeous and you won't see the pixels.
- Screen on time is about 4 and a half hours with average usage.
- Dash charge does what it's promised to do.
- The Oneplus 6 is for my small hands a two handed phone.
I hope I answered all your questions well!

Hi! I'm planning on making the OP6 my first OnePlus Device.
I also plan on getting the 6T later as well. I know that seems pointless. But I like have 2 major devices from a company for a years run..
Anyway, I know the phone is brand new and we have to see how things go, but, do you think there will be ROM support for this device? Given that it had the dual partition system (A&B style) would it be worthwhile to get the OP6 for ROMs right now?
My only want is to Root & ROM the phone. I have a LG G6 & V30, both from T-Mobile and have no dev supoort or ROMs. I like them both but I miss LineageOS and that's actually why I'm buying the OP6.
In your opinion, should I expect to see ROMs like LineageOS for OP6 or should I just wait and get the 6t.
I'm just trying to justify it to myself, especially now that the Nylon bumper case is sold out and that's the one I wanted. Ha, minor detail holding me back. Obviously I'll snag a Karbon Bumper hopefully..

Wow is that the reason they say they removed fp gestures? This didn't make sense because it's the same size as the fp sensor on the s8 and so she fp features work on those devices. So I wonder if this new sensor just doesn't support gestures or if it can be added back in from a custom rom?

First of all I must excuse me. Because I live in the Netherlands, my phone's language is set to Dutch.
First go to you security settings, then press the little settings circle. Now you should see some sort of a timer. Change this timer value to something more then 0 sec (instant lock). Ow and toggle the instant lock slider for when you press the power button
I've been using the face unlock feature on my Poco F1 since I got it. I'm running the latest XiaomiEU MIUI 10 Stable + Sphinx Kernel. No other mods.
Although it doesn't recognize the faces of my friends or relatives today I decided to test it with my sister who is 6 years younger and she managed to unlock it with her face.
I deleted my face data and took new one just in case and we tested again with the same result - she unlocked the phone again.
Face Unlock is not secure against relatives who look like you, test it out with your brothers/sisters just in case.
Yes, when you add your face in the settings there is a warning for tell you isn't secure.

It's because you have changed the kernel, which disables the infrared camera driver and thus making the face detection feature less secure. Test the same on factory ROM

Of course face data depends on the face so if you look alike with your sister it is really possible to unlock your phone that's why fingerprint scanner is more secured than face unlock.

isn't it common knowledge that all the face unlock out there for android isn't secure? even the mate 20 pro also got fooled by other similar looking people..

It's because you have changed the kernel, which disables the infrared camera driver and thus making the face detection feature less secure. Test the same on factory ROM

IR works, it lights up in red. I can also access the IR camera from MIUI Hidden Settings app.
There's the possibility that something else has been modified responsible for face unlock but I'll need to test.
I tried IR UNLOCK as well with sphinx kernel while covering front camera (not IR camera) and it's working phone unlocks... So no Front basic camera is working to unlock

Yes, my older brother opened it. I was taken aback, I am using the official stable roms.
Good thing I don't look closer to my relatives.
I also faced an issue where my phone can unlock by my brother and evey sister
Yesterday, miui 10 already rolled and I get updated. Technically, I and my brother already tested the Face unlock on miui 9.6.25 it definitely can't unlocked by my brother. After miui 10, my brother can easily unlocked my phone within 1 second,I was shocked we tested so many times and it's show same result. Even though my sister also can unlock it within one second,it is ridiculous.
The Face unlock become worst after miui 10 update.
