Google Drive w/ Titanium Backup? - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello fellow XDA community!
I have no idea how to restore my app data with google drive using titanium back up. I backup my data before and it worked. I have 3 android devices, with titanium back up. When I sync to Remote Location: Titanium Back Up 4 on all three devices, only back-up using one device. The other two doesn't overwrite the previous/old data I had on them. I tried looking on youtube and google for tips. But to no avail, no luck. There doesn't seem to be a guide for how to restore using google drive. Please help, thank you again.

You'd probably be better off contacting/emailing the dev, this doesn't sound like a device-specific problem.

Has anyone tried the native backup option in 4.0.3?

I'm a noob looking to start flashing roms and kernels and generally screw with my stock NS running 4.0.3.
Looks like the first step is to do a backup so I don't lose my app data, etc. when I do the required wipe.
I realize I could use different methods/apps like Astro, etc. but I notice under system settings/backup & reset there's what looks like auto (cloud?) backup and restore options.
Wondering if anyone has tested this and can vouch for it (or not) as a functional backup solution?

I've been doing this since before ICS. What this refers to, really, is synching Google apps with their online counterparts (Contacts, Calendar, etc.) and storing settings for Google apps on Google servers. It won't help with any non-Google apps.
I can't upload a screenshot but there is an option-
"Back up my data: back up app data, wifi passwords and other settings to google servers"
And further down one that says: "Auto Restore: when reinstalling an app restore backed up settings and data"
So this is just referring to google's stuff and not to Market apps?
Thanks for your response btw.

In general it will restore your Android settings (wifi passwords, wallpaper, etc). And it will re-download all the market apps you had installed. But you will lose all the data and settings from the market apps.

I'd say it's not very functional. Like Bozzy said it won't restore your app settings. It will redownload all your apps but you'll usually find that to be more of an annoyance than anything. I'd recommend investing in Titanium Backup. Or if you're strapped for funds you can download MyBackup Root for free but Titanium Backup is well worth every penny. When I rooted my wife's phone I actually bought Titanium again even though I could've used my license key because it's such an awesome app.
I have Ti Backup downloaded and ready to go but that app requires root.
I guess I'll go with Astro, back up to SD card, and transfer to pc via USB.
If I'm understanding things correctly?

I should clarify. Without root you won't be able to backup app data. Titanium will be your best friend once you are rooted but prior you'll just be able backup the .apks, saving you from having to redownload them. So, yes you are on the right track with Astro.
Just to update.
Digging in the forums here I found a method of getting root without wiping my phone.
I was able to root my phone by running a batch file on my PC- doesn't touch the bootloader. Used titanium to back everything up before I start flashing.
Very cool.

Noob Question: Backup options prior to root and custom ROM

Planning on rooting my Inspire 4g and adding a custom rom. Most of the rom install instructions ask for factory reset and wipe. I'm guessing this means, I will probably loose apps, contacts and app data. Is there a way to save the app states with data and recover these?
I think Google play and Google should help me out app reinstall and contacts. But not sure if I can recover these just in 1 go without having to push an app at a time from Google play. Not sure if there is a way to backup and restore app data

After you root your phone use a backup program like titanium backup to save your play store apps with data. Only save stuff downloaded from store though as backing up system stuff and restoring on other roms will cause issues.

Make sure you read the OP (original post) on any custom ROM you're looking into. Sometimes using a program like Titanium backup can cause a ROM to act buggy. And sometimes everything works perfectly with your restored data... just wanted to give you a heads up.
EDIT: I just re-read Gizmoe's post above... Sorry for being redundant.

[Q] Is it possible to get my Data back after Factory Reset? How to do that?

Today my weird day of my life. I try to ROOT using CF Auto-root and running successfully.. but I'm forgot to read instructions.
So the problem has come. All my data included my Photos from our OLD device that I put on Bluetooth Folder has gone.
I am forgot to Backup this photos to my PC or other Online Services.
Does there any solution to brings my data back? How to do that?

No sir, if you neglected to make a backup on a computer or an external hard drive then you're out of luck. All of your information is unfortunately gone.

Nope its all gone. When you unlock the boot loader and root which I think is what Cf does everything disappears.

It also warns you that all data will be deleted before you do anything

On February 11th the Internet show Tekzilla had an episode which included "DiskDigger Undelete Recovers Android Files! ", check it out. Maybe something can be salvage. When I watched that segment I was surprised at what could be salvaged with the various programs they used.

Google backup fails on Nexus 5

Hi guys.
Sorry in advance in case of double thread, I looked around but didn't find anything similar.
Recently my Nexus 5 sends me this daily alert: "backup failed. It's been 3 days since last backup". If I click on this notice, it sends me to the backup settings page, and starts a new backup attempt that freezes at the very first step.
Every setting seems correct to me, and I'm at my wit's end.
I am waiting for a new device, so it would be great updating my data backup, so I could restore everything in my new phone simply by logging with my Google account.
I can send screenshots, but they're in Italian.
Can anyone help me?
Thank you all.
take Titanium backup always works. 1st try Syncing the account like app data and stuff then manually backup!
Thanx for your suggestion. I should root the device in order to use Titanium, right?
Anyway, I woud like to undertsand what's wrong in Google backup anyway, if anyone else can help.

I'd start with OnePlus' official app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oneplus.backuprestore
I'm sure there's other 3rd party solutions out there.
Here's a couple of lists to peruse:
https://www.tomsguide.com/us/pictures-story/633-best-android-backup-apps.html
https://www.androidauthority.com/best-android-backup-apps-and-other-ways-too-608014/
I myself don't backup anything other than my Google account/apps, but, it makes sense to use the mfgs own tool & wouldn't hurt to use others as well, see which method(s) do the best job.
Problem with OnePlus switch is that it takes backup locally. What if I need to install a custom ROM and then restore my backup ? How can I do that as I have to factory reset my phone for it.
Have you followed this guide for fixing Android backup?
https://www.xda-developers.com/android-backup-google-drive-broken-how-to-fix-manager/
Just so you know, it can take some time before the backups succeeds after applying this. For me it succeeded one day later.
I used to use titanium backup but when I got on OnePlus 7 pro titanium would stop working when restoring so I switched to swift backup and it works really smooth and just the other day I did my first restore from swift (with root permissions) and it did really well getting accounts logged back into and everything. I only had a few trouble apps that I had to clear data and re-log into but otherwise went unexpectedly smooth

Migrate does the trick easily.
