I'd start with OnePlus' official app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oneplus.backuprestore
I'm sure there's other 3rd party solutions out there.
Here's a couple of lists to peruse:
https://www.tomsguide.com/us/pictures-story/633-best-android-backup-apps.html
https://www.androidauthority.com/best-android-backup-apps-and-other-ways-too-608014/
I myself don't backup anything other than my Google account/apps, but, it makes sense to use the mfgs own tool & wouldn't hurt to use others as well, see which method(s) do the best job.

Problem with OnePlus switch is that it takes backup locally. What if I need to install a custom ROM and then restore my backup ? How can I do that as I have to factory reset my phone for it.

Have you followed this guide for fixing Android backup?
https://www.xda-developers.com/android-backup-google-drive-broken-how-to-fix-manager/
Just so you know, it can take some time before the backups succeeds after applying this. For me it succeeded one day later.

I used to use titanium backup but when I got on OnePlus 7 pro titanium would stop working when restoring so I switched to swift backup and it works really smooth and just the other day I did my first restore from swift (with root permissions) and it did really well getting accounts logged back into and everything. I only had a few trouble apps that I had to clear data and re-log into but otherwise went unexpectedly smooth

Migrate does the trick easily.

What is the most robust backup method for Xperia X10?

Hi folks
What would be the easiest and most thorough way of backing-up/syncing everything on my Xperia X10? I have read some advice on the SE website but I am unsure whether what they suggest includes absolutely everything on my phone, i.e. downloads from the Andriod Market, contacts, music, pictures, settings, etc.
I previously had a Nokia 5800 which had an in-built backup programme which made a copy of everything onto the memory card.
Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.
Many thanks
Scott
Latest firmware has a backup tool.
I didn't test it
I personally use Titanium but you need root for it.

Thanks tux Style. What firmware version has this backup tool?
My phone has firmware version 1.6 and build number R1FA016
Yea I like the back up Sony provides in the update.

The SE Backup Tool (and My Backup Pro too) doesn't include Shortcuts on the Homescreen (I'm using Zeam Launcher).
Does Titanium include absolutely everything?

I think R2BA020.
In 023 is for sure.
I have used My Backup PRO for 2 months till today and today I have tried Titanium Backup beacause I dont want to have both apps on my phone and let me tell you, this app restores your phone to the EXACT state as it were when you made backup. I mean, wallpaper, widgets, shortcuts, data, Market links, EVERYTHING, literally EVERYTHING ! I havent tried My Backup PRO with root features, without them it worked great 1 month ago when I didnt have root but I have decided to dump one of these apps since I hate to have 2 apps that do the same thing and Titanium was first choice because it has ability to uninstall stock apps after root AND it restores all apps with one click, no manual confirmation for installation. Those are 2 major and BIG advantages of Titanium Backup over MyBackup PRO.
Hope it helps

Fantastic! I will give Titanium Backup a go but it certainly sounds promising. My device is not rooted but if it worked for you then I am sure the same will be for me.
Thanks again
Scott
Hm, you cant use Titanium if you are not rooted :-\ Also, non rooted phones cannot backup Market links and data in apps. For non rooted phones MyBackup PRO is the only solution and the best one, that for sure.

Yea you are correct...I am not rooted and it therefore did not work.
I will go check out MyBackup PRO and see how I get on.
Thanks again for all your assistance.
Kind regards
Scott
I have accidentally bricked my phone do to some tests on modding
So before that I use SE backup and restore and Titanium to back up apps and data.
after re-rooting, first I use SE restore and restored basics.
and Titanium first to restore all my apk files and then selective applications of data.
Im have easily got my previous state around 95% of it
I would recommend SE backup and restore and Titanium combination strongly to any one.
What does TB backup ? Because MyBackup PRO backups SMS, contacts, call logs, apps, market links, settings, only thing that it DOES NOT backup are widgets and wallpaper. I read on other forum that Titanium does not backup SMS and contacts, WTF ?

sms, contacts, call log stuff will cover by SE backup and restore.
for me, all my contacts are sync with Google mail. so i just need to sign-in, automatically all will sync with out backup.
That means that Titanium does not cover that !?!? MyBackup PRO covers all of that, I cannot believe that TB does not do that.

You got to be kidding . Titanium will backup *everything*. No app without root access (such as MBP) will do the same.
SMS is called "[SMS/MMS/APN] Dialer Storage 1.6"
Contacts data is called "[Contacts/Calls] Contacts Storage 1.6"
Look at the Legend - "green" is "system service with useful data" and filter by "system" in the Backup/Restore list.
I also was really suprised when I saw this:
http://androidforums.com/android-applications/128633-mybackup-pro-need-help.html
And I have abandoned MyBackup PRO because I dont want to have 2 apps that do the same thing and TB was better because it could uninstall apps after root. But my schedule backup in TB does not work !?!? It is ON and on ignore list in Task Manager but no backup was made
EDIT: MBP also has root acces.
Well, is something strange.
The schedule is working but it seems is missing some tasks.
At least on my phone.
Nope, mine says with red letters next backup and writes date and hour but when that passes it only says next time when it is scheduled but also says "No backups yet". Really have no clue why is that so...
Is the default Backup and Restore program any good?
Hello, I have a question, I come to have a milestone, and can be done
an entire system backup using nandroid backup, there is something similar in
the xperia? like I can do if you accidentally brick the phone?
P.S: sorry for my bad inglish, google translate sucks xD

[Q] Titanium Backup Pro

I bought Titanium Backup Pro and have a key.
However, whenever I flash a new ROM, all my apps start coming back. If I try to install the Key from the Play Store, it gets pushed under everythign else and downloads at the end.
I tried the option in Titanium Backup settings where it copies Titanium Backup as an update.zip to the sd card, but that only restores the regular, FREE Titanium Backup app, without the key.
So my question is: How do I restore the Titanium Backup Pro Key on my first boot into a new rom, without installing any of the other apps I previously had? (I prefer to restore everything with Titanium Backup, rather than letting the Play Store do it)
Thanks for reading
When you flash a new rom uncheck keep this phone backed up with my google account. That is not exactly how its worded but its in the initial set up.
REplY
You should have installed MY BACKUP ROOT before flashing the new rom

I do the following steps:
before installing new ROM,
I first back up all apps using Titanium Backup. I ensure that I back up the Titanium PRO app as well.
Then after installing the new ROM... i do the following:
after signing into the phone - I go to play store and stop all downloads and install Titanium Backup free.
when I run the free version it automatically registers the PRO version as it is backed up in it.
then I can restore all other apps using Titanium back up PRO.
Let me know if this was helpful to you.
Yeah I figured it, what I have to do is sign in from my account but uncheck the boxes for backing up accounts and restoring to the phone. Then I just download both the program and its key from the market. Thanks!

Reply to your question
I hear dev support is pretty good (never had to contact him/her/them myself though)
because when applications freeze, then thaw and then I said: application not installed
I leave the option to keep my phone baked up to my account when I flash a new rom, but always uncheck the first option that says something to the effect of "restore from my account". Then I grab tb from the play store, unless the rom has a baked in file explorer, since I keep a copy backed up in my storage.
Installing my backup root prior to flashing a new rom will do absolutely no good if you wipe data.

You dont have to uncheck anything, as soon as the phone gets to the homescreen just go to the play store and stop the downloads just takes a click. Keeping google restore checked you will have your contacts back as soon as you boot up.
Contacts will restore whether the restore from Google account is selected during initial setup or not, as long as contacts are allowed to sync with your account.

Tried the recommandations like wipe, use rcm set privileges, no prevail,

Ported them with usb to my desktop from the computer. did a full wipe. flashed pacman 4.4 and gapps. then i installed tb from the play store, also pro version, then ported the files back from computer to tb file, opened tb and want to choose restore but there are zero apps to restore and normaly there are 350. Some help is welcome thank you.

[Q] How to restore my apps & settings after flashing ROM

I just finished restoring my Samsung Galaxy SIII after jumping into the latest Verizon OTA without checking it out first. (Mistake!)
I like what I have now, but would like to see if a custom ROM might be a little less loaded with Samsung and Verizon bloat. I am not interested in tons of more tweaking options, just good wireless reception, and UI quickness. I do NOT want to repeat reinstalling all my apps from scratch, and setting them up again. I am rooted, unlocked, have TWRP, Odin, Titanium Backup Pro,Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper. Can someone help make the transition into a new ROM as pain free, and easy as possible. Once again, I'm not asking about how to flash the ROM as much as I am asking about getting up and running after flashing. Thanks for your time and help.

Dear tgrobi one has to restore only data not the app as the app might clash with the contact app of one's new rom so what is advisable is to only restore data also titanium will give a warning message that restoring the app will not work properly and eventually result in a FC

^^^This.
I have titanium backups and mess around flashing numerous roms.
Apps and their settings can easily be restored by making backups with titanium and restoring apps and data.
You can also save your contact list with it but if you have a google account and sync enabled your phone will restore contacts from your google account.
Is the Titanium Backup still a good advice now, after 8 years since this thread was started? I'm going to migrate my Moto G "falcon" from 4.4 to 7.1. I do have a paid version of Titanium Backup. Thank you!

Titanium backup: Apps crash after restore

Migrating to a new phone and discovered an issue with the backups on my old phone. This is tested and happening on both btw.
If I backup and restore a working app it then will force close on opening. Clearing cache and data and still force closes.
I tried uninstalling titanium, deleting titanium folder and reinstalling.
Same issue after a backup and restore of an application.
Running Oneplus 6 and Oneplus 7 pro
Unlocked and unrooted with magisk
Titanium at latest version from market.

App restore with titanium doesn't work for switching to a new phone, only restoring to the same phone and same os. When it does work the apps tend to be super glitchy. I'll drop a link to the xda thread where you can get more info/ help. Good luck.

Agreed. I've only migrated app data to a new phone using TB import/export (.TiBkp) feature. AFAIK, you can only do that one app at a time. So I've only done it with a few apps that I really wanted to save the user data.
More folks on this forum are recommending Swift Backup these days. It seems more reliable for this phone. I've use TB for years, but now I've just started trying out Swift Backup.
It appears TB is not compatible with the newer "split apks" format for newer apps in the appstore.
Basically TB will only backup the "base.apk" for an app when it does a backup. But with split apks, there are other APK files besides base.apk, like one for the app's language (split_config.en.apk) or the cpu type (split_config_arm64_v8a.apk) and the screen resolution (split_config.xxhdpi.apk).
So, since TB does NOT backup these extra apk files, these files will be missing when you do a restore with TB and thus the restored app will crash when you try to run it.
Luckily there is a new open-source backup app that works well with Slit-apks on Android 8+:
GitHub - NeoApplications/Neo-Backup: backup manager for android

And I think it's better then Swift backup because:
1) Swift backup requires your google account login
2) Swift backup throws errors if you block internet access to it for security reasons
3) Swift backup is not open-source, so it could go the way of TB in the future.
4) And OandBackupX is FREE

Those errors seem like there is a problem with xandbackupx not being able to gain root access.
When you first started OABX, it has a bunch of cards where each card requires a different permission on your device - did you go through each card/step and give all those permissions, including root?
Are you using android 8+?

Is that the Samsung moving phones thingy? Does that move apps including it's data so you don't have to set them up again?
I usually avoid the moving data from phone to phone during setup, because I take setting up a new phone as an opportunity to clean up data/apps. So I only reinstall those I actually need
EDIT: Just tried it, sadly not:

Yeah thanks, I know it's possible with root which I don't have and doing it wipes the phone which makes my whole reason for this pointless.
This whole post was just asking if there's any way to do it without root. If you can't help don't reply?
