Hi guys, i really need your help.. I am planning to get a new dual core cellphone but i am confused between o2x and o3d.. I wanna go in favour of o3d, but the reviews say that battery back up is really bad. Is it really that bad? whats the maximum battery backup i would get in moderate usage? And also I am a gamer and will b hoping to do a lot of gamin in ma cell.. soplease suggest me which one i should go for.
I would buy a P920 . Battery 2-3 days with medium usage, 1 day with high usage .
P920 had bigger screen and 3d features (3d games, movies, photos). Most of games are avilable for Optimus 3d, only some not working( real tegra games). Performance is very high.

It's great very fast and relatively stable. Battery sucks though (Like most smartphones) If you play a game in about 2 Hours the battery is down to 20% (Real Racing 2)
Software is nice, it plays 720p Video without a problem (Havent tried FUll HD, but Im sure it will work great) The 3D is suprisingly cool, especialy to impress your friends. Menus and Widgeds are above average and offer a good experience in my opinion.
Hardware is where it shines the Ti OMAP CPU and 512MB RAM coupled with a PowerVR Video Accelerator, make it a beast. The screen is very good also, extremely sensetive and bright, great for multimedia.
I would reccomend it any day (If you get it for the right price)

I'm not too sure about the O2x, but on O3D GB, i get around
250 hours 2G standby time(3% per night)
Really long Music playback (Better than any other device I've used)
3.5-5 hours video playback on minumum brightness(Normal 350mb/40min quality)
2.5 hours video playback on Maximum brightness
2-3 hours Wifi web browsing W/Opera mini (IDK about stock)
2-3 hours Light gaming (2D Games, such as Angry birds, etc)
1-2 hours graphically intensive gaming (Such as GTA, or any game converted into 3D. Most drain battery extremely quickly and cause the phone to heat up quite a bit)
The Optimus 3D also seems to have a glitchy touchscreen. Its probably not the best phone to game with.
Speed wise, The TI 4430 should be faster than the Tegra 2, but most games are optimized for tegra 2 since its a pretty common chipset.

For the O3D.
I'm not too sure why Gaming drains so much more battery than playing videos... Gaming only uses slightly more battery compared to playing videos on my Desire HD (Single core though), while the screen pretty much consumes most of the battery.

can't you just get it from amazon??i got mine from this seller(http://www.amazon.com/gp/browse.html?ie=UTF8&marketplaceID=ATVPDKIKX0DER&me=A3TBDBTCHAVT15) for 375$...new in box and European...not usa version....there was even an hdmi cable with it...
cuz if you are willing to pay 500$..go for galaxy SII...
.this phone IS VERY good(i mean amazing specs with a 375$ price is awesome!)...but if you are not 3D freak...and willing to pay 500+few extra bucks...go for galaxy SII
oh and gingerbread is out...have some problems but usable....and you can add 3d effect to 2d movies....but its kinda hit and mess....not very good...3d effect on 2d games is better.....
on a side note...Atrix 4g is even cheaper than 375$ and its excellent for the price...its better than optimus 2X and have some very good specs(Dual core,1GB ram,16GB built-in memory, good community support.HDMI,qHD Res)
but of course minus 0.3 inch from the screen size and 3D
I've an sgs2 and o3d, my wife o2x...
SGS2 is the best choice, look at sgs2 forum, there are at least 50 rom's that u can pick up and try, a lot of kernels, speedmod is one of the best IMHO, I have 3-4 days of battery with 2 k9 accounts, plus gmail, lot of widget. Of course my screen is on only for 1 hour browsing per day, some calls and messages.
SGS2 all the life!

I would also go for O2D because it has better GPU, Power Vrx which works on 300Mhtz. I get usually 1,5 days on normal usage. When I play games as MOdern combat 3 and real racing 2 battery is empty after 2 h.

The Thrill 4g doesn't have an GB Update or ROM yet. IDK if it will get ICS or not. Thrill 4g is 4g though.
Have you guys noticed that nothing has been done about the G camera's excess noise reduction? It smudges a lot of the detail that should be there but isn't.
I have a feeling that the Aptina AR0543 CMOS sensor can take significant more detailed pictures but Motorola saw it and thought: "hmmm this camera is too good and it will make the Moto G too much of a good deal compared to the X" so they added some ridiculous software noise reduction to make pictures look worse and thus make consumers think "hmmm if I want a good camera I should spend the extra money and get the X"
I know some people will think this is unlikely, but there's no good reason why the noise reduction is so high on the Moto G's camera and considering that the Moto G is the saving grace for Motorola while the X hasn't really sold that well, they should just give up and make the Moto G's camera even better by getting rid of the noise reduction and tuning the colors so they keep selling more and more Moto G's.
What do you think?
yes this is true.. even my good old galaxy apollo's 3.1MP shooter is far better than Moto G's. camera is the worst thing happened to Moto G.
Sent from my XT1033 using Tapatalk
Yes. See this. Moto X had the same problem with the noise reduction.
http://www.anandtech.com/show/7353/moto-x-update-dramatically-improves-camera-quality
Either Motorola doesn't know yet(post on their forums about it a lot so they know) OR they're not updating it on purpose so the Moto X camera looks better.
Yeah, I think they overcompensated with the noise reduction, that should be a post-effect. My beef is with the white balance, it's noticeably blue. They're all software issues and I can't see how that could have been missed. All the hardware is there for a decent picture.
Subject also discussed here:

I wonder if just a bomb tickin to explode with an update (as waht they did with the X)
Maybe they update it once the competing phones comes out

Exactly. I don't see how somebody at Motorola can look at a sample image and thought that is acceptable for production unless they wanted it to be that way. Every Moto G seems to look like a oil painting when zoomed at 100% and they have to know by now but for some reason they haven't even acknowledged it despite this phone being one of the best phones of 2013 and every single publication and user online saying the camera is the single flaw in this phone.
If they never deliver a firmware update, it's got to be intentional. Hopefully I'm wrong and they are just dragging their feet since its not a very profitable device.

I hope that it's an oversight on Moto's part. I mean the sale to Lenova was somewhat hushed and timed just after release--they probably wanted to make sure it had a market presence to allay any misgivings in the acquisition. In that sense they may have pushed for release and not vetted the software as they may otherwise have done. There have been issues with the camera app itself.

Hopefully people have already been doing that along with posting on their forum.
I am suspecting this as well.
The MSM8226 processor is supposed to be 1.4 GHz but in our Moto G it is underclocked to 1.2GHz.
5MP camera is good enough to take 1080p video, but for moto g the maximum is only 720p.
It could be the same for picture quality, they try to distinct their flagship and their budget phone by making Moto G looks worst.
Did you already find an open thread about this topic on Motorola forum?

What's the point of having it clocked to 1.4 when 1.2 is already smooth as butter? It will just waste battery life.
What's the point of having it record 1080p videos when it only has a 720p screen? It will just waste memory.
I think you guys should start thinking about this logically before assuming moto is out to purposely make the moto g terrible. Optimizations of battery life and file size are important, especially on a phone that has a non removable battery and no SD card slot.

Actually its 1.6ghz and you can overclock it easily with the Faux Kernel.
I personally think the underclocking was done for battery life though.

Where is your evidence that processor clock at 0.2GHz slower will actually save much battery? how many percent?
It might be smooth for now but that doesn't mean it will be smooth after major android update in the future.
Really? do you mean that those phone out there that can take 1080p cannot shoot in 720p? there wasn't any option for that?
I didn't say Motorola try to make Moto G terrible, I'm just saying they try to distinct their flagship and non-flagship.
In fact, I think Moto G is a terrific product for under 200 US dollar but by looking at the capability of Moto G hardware, I wish it could be better.
Back to topic, what do you think Motorola is trying to "save" here by having excess noise reduction for the camera?

You're kind of taking us off topic here. Nobody has a problem with the SoC, and few people care about 1080p video since 720p is enough for most people and the screen is 720p anyway.
The image quality is the real problem here. Another issue is the fact that the video camera records at too low a bitrate.

Nope, SoC and 1080p are examples that help bring out my point:
"It could be the same for picture quality, they try to distinct their flagship and their budget phone by making Moto G looks worst."
Well from what I known and seen Motorola camera have never been good on any of their smart phones that I used. But they get the job done.

SGS 5 users, what's your take on this? To me the biggest factor is BATTERY LIFE.
Now here's the deal : sgs 5 => 2800 Mah with a smaller screen
lg g3 on the other hand 3000 mah with higher pixel count due to larger screen (if they had stayed at 1080p that thing would be beast, such idiots)
Does anyone of you actually really prefer teh sgs5 over the lg g3? I'm going to assume this is a dumb question but i heard of many people regretting not waiting for the g3.
Blah, some input would be great here.

Go with the G3 (Unless you must have slightly longer battery life), the G3 is a significantly better device packing the same CPU with more RAM and a larger screen
Hi guys,
i want to ask you, how about your impression after using LG G Pro 2 ex: after a month
Any issue or problem after use LG G Pro 2?i want to buy this phone, but i confused because the information about this phone is not very lack, not like LG G3. So maybe you guys can help give your opinion.
Thanks a lot
I came from a white G2 and have had my white g pro 2 for about 3 months and i love it, if you dont mind the size..
Its camera is awesome like the g2's (same as the g2's just faster focusing and better ois and 4k if you need it) The g pro 2 has a much more powerful speaker (though i do like the G2's placement better when flat on a desk)
Basically its just a bigger G2!
-Few more things to add
the g2 has a brighter notification led
the g2 has 10x more developer support
the g pro 2 screen is very slightly less saturated than g2's but has slightly better viewing angles
the g pro 2 comes stock with multi-window
the g pro 2 has SD card slot and removable battery
The funny thing is im thinking of going back to a white g2 because:
better notification led
more manageable size
developer support
better speaker placement for notifications on desk, but much worse quality for music etc
Ive looked at getting the G3 but i like the look of white phones, especially on the front surrounding the screen and the g3 doesn't really have white bezels, also the quad hd screen is overkill and makes SD801 struggle, this is why i actually prefer the look & performance of the G2..
It is a pretty decent phone. Size is manageable, depending on individual's requirements. It is fast and smooth. Standby time is pretty good. I get consistently +/- 5 hours screen on time with a single charge. I wish I can have more, but the screen of FHD is sucking lots of juices.
Rooting is easy.
Chances are high that we are getting the lollipop update. Keeping our fingers crossed.
Bought it recently and fully satisfied by this beast.
Camera is better than my old G2, Screen quality is also better but battery timing is the area where g2 beats it. If its size doesn't bother you, then its hell of a phone for you.

I have thought to buy G3 too, but many opinion said that the battery not quite good and like you said that quad hd screen make SD801 struggle. Maybe, i will think it again to choose. any issue after you use lg g pro 2 after 3 months? Thanks for your review, leonclement

I bought this phone 5 months ago, and it was money well spent. Not a single moment of regret since i have this phone. Of course there are still pros and cons, which i will try to list.
Pros:
1. Excellent processor. I have never feel any excruciating lag from using this phone. Even after i play heavy games like modern combat, the phone doesnt show much lag
2. Ample RAM. This phone is quite future proof because it gives 3gb of RAM, thats why i love multitasking with this phone using LG's own windowed app
3.Excellent camera. This phone has a great camera. It can compete with the likes of g3, s5, even z3 and 6plus.
4. Screen size. I love watching hd movies on the go on this phone, the pictures are clear, the colors are spot on.
5. Big battery. From the time i wake up at 6 am, till i sleep at 11 pm, this phone usually still have >15% battery after a whole day of chatting plus 3d gaming and g+.
Cons:
1. Outdated processor by todays standard. Dont get me wrong though, this is still a very potent processor for all your need.
2. Large size. Its not that big for me, i can still use it 1 handed normally, but if you have small.hands, it might give you trouble, even though it has one handed mode.
3. Macro shot coulb be better. This is the only flaw i see from the camera
4. Less support in xda than other lg phones.
Hope this helps you decide, because IMO, you wont regret using this beast.
Absolutely agree with pros. Not deal breakers to me the cons.
Best device I've ever buyed until now.
Best phablet ever !!!
I am looking for a new sub 4.8” phone. I had S4 mini once and the size was perfect. I then upgraded to LG G2 and it is frequently inconvenient to carry. Actually, I care more for weight than for size, so if the phone is light, I could go for something bigger.
The things I MUST have:
- good camera: At least on the S4 level
- very good battery life
- MicroSD card slot, OR at least 50GB internal storage
- Android M: from manufacturer, I need photo quality at the highest possible level so that rules out CM13
- root
Things it would be nice to have, but can live without:
- NFC
- dual sim
- waterproof
Things I do not care for at all:
- gaming: I have been using a smartphone since 10 years now, and not once I played a game on it
- production year: I don’t care if the phone is 2016 or 2013, as long as it fits the bill
Here are the phones I already considered and rejected:
- Xperia Z3c: perfect phone with clown camera
- Xperia Z5c: after 4 hours of research it looks like Sony again made the camera not very good (might reconsider if it turns out the camera is actually good)
- Galaxy S5 mini: I read it is a downgrade form S4 mini (but if it is only about GPU then I might reconsider)
- LG G2 mini: good camera, size and battery, but no M, LTE and 1 GB of ram is a serious tradeoff
- Redmi 3: bad camera
- Mi4c: so-so camera and battery life
- Mi5: size, so-so camera
- Meizu Pro 5: OMG this phone is PERFECT... Except for being a shovel. Such a pity they never completed Pro 5 Mini.
Suggestions and comments will be appreciated.

I guess you have it figured out already.
Honestly,if you want a decently performing phone,the Idol 3 4.7 isn't a great choice.
If I were you,I would go straight for the Z5C,because it is a great device.
One of my friends has it,and I can tell you this:
Despite the fact that it is too small for ME,it is one hell of a mini-phone.
And also, just like on many devices,a camera can reach its full potential with right tweaks(for example 4K on the LG G2). And a SONY camera on the Z5c is no joke in general.
This is just my opinion, and I wish you luck in finding the right phone. :good:

if need small size get iphone se. i think there is best camera phone for 4-4,8". for android - samsung a3 2016? but if you can take 5.2' size get lg nexus 5x
My friend got the lg g4 and I thought the idol 3 was light. The g4 feels half the weight, in comparison, and it has a great camera

I am a power user running all kind of production background processes on my phone. I would not be able to live with an iPhone.

As mentioned in the OP, I require 50+GB storage which rules out 5x.

That one is actually interesting. I will look into that. But the weigh is nearly as much as 5.2" Lg G2 and that is a bigger problem than size for me.

According to this: http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=6901&idPhone2=7080&idPhone3=7081
G4 is 10 grams heavier than large Idol 3 and 44 grams heavier than Idol 3 4.7"

I don't dispute the numbers. Perhaps it was the shape, but it felt really light. I'd recommend the idol 3, though. It's an awesome phone for the price, which is falling every day.
