[Q] One Week trying to save a P920 and Failed [ Help Appreciated ]

Hello Everyone,
So I've been dealing with a P920 for the last 7 days trying to Flash it and it's not working.
1- Device is booting to Android but all applications are crashing ( unexpected error com.x.x ) force close.
2- I tried LG recover mode, phone flashed but once successful and rebooted, same error upon loading desktop.
3- Tried rooting the phone with SuperOneClick2.3 ; Rooting successful, upon reboot, rooting is lost
4- Downloaded KDZ original firmware V21A Europe based from lg-firmware site and used offline installation ( shttps + modified host file etc..) . Installation successful and flashing is OK; rebooting = same error on startup.
5- Downloaded firmware V10B and flashed it successfully. Rebooted, phone version is still showing V21A !
6- Rooted phone + installed CWM -> successful, rebooted, it's gone.
Now this is the first time since 10 years that I get into such thing and the device is getting me on my nerves.
Any idea or advice is much appreciated!

Looks like a hardware issue. ROM, RAM, Internal memory. U need to find a way to delete partitions and re do them somehow. Have no idea if there is a software for that. I had it for my SGS. It should help.
Just repartition whole internal memory.

Have no idea. Try to make some research I don't want to give you wrong answer. Should be only one where rom data is, but I'm not sure.

At what stage u got permission denied ? Did you rooted your device and installed non stock CWM ?

Hello MinedSafe; As I mentioned earlier, whenever I root the device and reboot, it's not rooted anymore. It is not possible to install CWM ( changes are not applied )
I have managed to root the device and tried the parted command, I get command not found.
I have noticed that once I get into the stock recover and wipe everything, I do not get the first welcome screen to setup the device, it's booting with the same error.
I have started to lose hope. Device is no longer under warranty

Have you try to recover it from LG mobile support tools ?

Yes, I tried, it downloaded 404 MBs and flashed the device. When it boots, it still goes into the menu as if i have not done any update. No first setup screen and the crashing application error shows up.

I think i have the same problem!!! and i cant format data.
i try everything but nothing respon.
in which rom these is happned to you?

It looks like the partitions are damaged or eprom/rom ( no commands ) memory is gone. So the only way is to send this to LG service where they can upgrade/rapair with their 'hardware' tools. If you try on you own you might get to a stage where even they wont be able to fix it.
What kind of software you where putting in to it ? Froyo or GB ?

Another person, so its now more likely then when upgrading the partition table was screwed up. It could be a mistake in addressing the memory when flashing.

Yep, sorry to say that. Depends on where you live, but the cost of repair should not be to high.

First you must search LG service in your country. They are everywhere.

[Q] Rogers Razr HD LTE(xt925) OTA to JB fails!!!

I rooted my device before i got the OTA notification. i tried to upgrade like 4 or 5 times but it doesn't work! Does anybody know that how can i upgrade to JB? BTW i dont want to unlock my device.

what's the failure message? Also, can you run something on your phone before you do the upgrade?

yep i can run all the apps. it just says "The software update failed" . i tried to use voodoo temp un-root before upgrade but it still doesn't work. i cnan see a lay down android robot with exclamation mark.

I had this same problem, unrooted, and installed and it worked(I am on fido though)

.... did you delete some preloaded system apps? like 'rogers 1 Number' . i did but i did a factory data reset too, after all i tried to do upgrade again.. as you know it failed lol.... still need somebody to help me !!! plz!!!!

I didn't get enough information as to why the firmware upgrade was failing. I was also going you could pull an xml fastboot for me from your existing setup if you are still rooted.
Please download this software https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tranquilice.toolbox and make an xml backup of you're current phone. I also want the XML backup but it it's very large, so you should break it up into 100mb files using 7 zip and re-compress it. Then post it to your Dropbox. Don't worry this backup doesn't have any personal data.
Then you can download the update file from my Dev-host account here :

And save the file to your external sdcard.
Boot into recovery, then try to apply the update from sdcard, and write down exactly all the information it says (maybe take a picture of it using another camera). And send me all the information.
How to boot into recovery:
1) Power off phone completely
2) press and hold both volume buttons and at the same time press the power button.
3) use the volume down button to navigate the the recovery option, then press volume up.
4) an Android on the side will appear, now tot can proceed with updating
How to apply update in recoveyr mode:
1) press and hold both volume buttons while pressing power button
2) a menu will appear, use the volume buttons to navigate and the power button to select the option to update from external sdcard
3) find the update file and press the power button on it.
4) watch the update, if it fails please tell me all error messages, hopefully tot can take a picture for me.

failed to upgrade to Jelly been
I have a fido motorola razr hd lte and rooted. I tried several times upgrading to Jelly Been using OTA and all failed.
Then I followed steps above and still failed.
I have actually uninstalled some default apps like SMS, file manager etc.

Did you try to modify the update package? It looks like the update package doesn't have the same signature as it should.
Do not try to open up the ZIP file provided, just place it on the external SD card without touching it.
If you get another error after that, please the new error.

I'm having the same problem cause I deleted the bloat ware from my Rogers phone. From what I've been reading, I'm thinking about just staying on the 4.0.4.

Post a screenshot. It should be easy to put back any Rogers specific software on your phone since it already exists there in a different area!

I have actually followed your 7 zip packages from the other post and upgraded my phone to 4.1.2 Rogers stock version, it loads with Rogers logo, but other than that, everything works. Thanks a lot.:good:
The only issue is that I have all rogers one number, one contact... apps and every time reboot has rogers logo. Is it possible to have fido one?

Not sure, I think it is on the phone's internal sd memory. You can't boot now? Post the error... Or more symptoms.

"FDR" -> Factory/Full Data Reset does not replace applications that have been deleted.
The only way to fix is to put them back or RSD/Flash back to stock.
I hate these threads.
People remove apps and wonder why the upgrade doesn't work.
Don't remove factory applications, freeze/disable them!!!!!
Removing them will remove the ability to upgrade until the OS is back to stock.
The installer checks to make sure that the system and application area is untouched.

it makes a backup folder on sdcard and puts in there...

How much space is there supposed to be after a wipe/rom install?

After a full wipe and new rom install how much space is usually available? I get 1.3gb after this looking in app manager.
This seems pretty low. When i do a full wipe/install does it not truely do so? Is there folders/files left over from previously installed roms? How can i delete these?
Im on a 16gb Tmobile S4

It depends on the rom you are using, if the rom has more space allocated for its apps and stuff, you will have less space after flashing rom and doing a wipe data/cache ..
for all i know, the rom is taking the space in your phone by its components and elements in the rom..
thats all i know

This or a wicked rom (which has alot of options can take up alot of space) usually shows the same amount of leftover avail space to use. So i seriously think that there is leftovers form other rom flashes somewhere

Hii, if you're unsure about the size of the rom after wiping data and cache, do this
1)install "sd maid" app from playstore, your device should be rooted to run the app
2)use the system cleaner function in it
It will show you where your memory is going because i don't think a rom can take 14 gb, and yeah ofcourse after starting system cleaner function, delete everything

That only found 3mb to delete lol.
I know im not on drugs cause on the last flashed rom i clicked on install zip from internal sd card and seen a Wicked folder that I haven't had installed in 3+ flashes ago

Make nandroid backup, and then install stock firmware by Odin_that should take away the crap outta your phone, root your device again and then restore the backup

Multiple roms on my micro card, many that are a 1.3-1.4gb files. Even uncompressed would probably be a 8gb at most.
So that would leave half the rom to use. Far form the 1.3 i get with any install right now

there is no way to flash an equal version of trust zone with rsd.
he needs to replace all the files anyways.
2 possible solutions come to mind,
1. flash the next newer firmware with rsd, if that fails,
2. flash the same version with Mfastboot, if that fails, try the newer version.
figuring out how to bypass the tz fail is easy, but it will just throw another error when it gets to the next file you cant downgrade or re-write equal. thats why the steps i have suggested should be tried.

yes, he must replace files IF current rom defferent from mine, i use latest stock rom released.
and i assume he know how to put md5-hash to the .xml file if he wish do some experimental :laugh:

Keep in mind he flashed 925 FW to a 926, he could be toast.

You may be right, but it doesn't hurt to at least try the most correct method to fix it.

not really, depending on what files flash, if not all, it surely could be toast also.

Firstly CM does not play well with flashing back to stock. But it seems you've lost recovery so there's no way to flash a stock based rom first.
Have you tried using LGUP yet?
Your also placing your phone into download mode correct?
And using a USB 2.0 port? USB 3.0 will not work.

What error? Your screenshot doesn't show an error. It shows what's plugged into the computer... you click select.

Try remove LGUP and the lg drivers and try again fresh . first the drivers then the 8974 ell the lgup if your phone show up at flip then your lucky else you have a brick 3rd phone

Model "Unknown" and click select: "You have to select a known model, please."
