And you don't have a tape measure... Or you don't have the box with you?
Sorry I don't have mine either as when I shipped it they never sent it back!! Grrr. So my advice is ship it in a securely packaged box well wrapped inside but don't send the original if you want it back.

No i've bought the tablet on amazon.com but they don't ship to italy. So I need box dimension for shipping redirect from US to Italy

I don't have the box for my TF700 here, but the box for the TF101 is 30*21.5*6 cm. IIRC the TF700 box is slightly smaller - guesstimating 28*20*6 cm.

272 x 192 x 66 mm at least for a UK supplied TF700 box. Weight is probably around 200g for the box on it's own. Tablet will be the biggest weight, esp with the keyboard. HTH

Tiny keyes...hell no lol.
If there was a Nexus tablet with a 1080p screen and was 10", I'd be all over it.

I never said I wanted a 7" dock
With the extra bezel space (dock bezel, not tablet), I'd want speakers that were actually pointing at me, instead of away.

Hmmm not a bad idea. Yet, the keys would probably still need to be smaller to fit that. Or a much larger dock that won't fit the 7" size very well.
I'm a form follows function kind of guy. If Asus would hear me out, I'd have them take a 100% (same size) dock, but with a lid, containing speakers on either side and a slot in the middle of the lid for the tmini to slide into. As an extra bonus it would be even less top-heavy and more stable on uneven surfaces. I grant you, it wouldn't be the prettiest package without some finnessing, but I'd still prefer it.
Asus thinks the same way every one else does (7" tab means 7" keyboard), or at least they will until my infinity ships, and a day later they'll announce my ideal device :crying:
C'est la vie :silly:

Alot of people have been receiving tf201 docks. You can send it back and request a dock specific to the tf700 or use the one they sent. The 201 dock does work with the tf700. If you paid full price though then i would ask for a prorate of the tf201 dock.

Internally they are identical, software sees all docks as 201, however! The 700 dock should snugly and correctly fit the infinity. If the hinge part is rounded and doesnt seem to fit the infinity properly then the dock is a prime dock and i'd ask for a dock specifically made for the infinity. Anyone can pop a sticker on there, and reguardless it will work just fine. My only concern is that the screen may break because of excess pressure because the hinge doesnt fit just right. YMMV

My TF201 dock fits perfectly to my TF700 tablet.
And yes - it is a TF201 dock, as I got it when I bought my TF201 Prime and kept it when I upgraded to TF700...
I had a TF201 tablet for which I bought a keyboard dock back in the day. When I purchased my current tablet the TF700T the first thing I did after charging the tablet up, turning it on and letting it find my home network and update my Google stuff is to shut it down. Then I placed it into my TF201's dock keyboard that was fully charged. The tablet turned on by itself and did an update to my dock keyboard from revision 206 to 207. When the update was completed it finished booting and recognized it was docked and all was good. My dock keyboard fits perfectly with my TF700T tablet in the hinge area and also the locking assembly has a solid click sound during the insertion as well as the locking slide locking solidly to the tablet by sliding all of the way to the right in the slide slot.
When I bought mine the box clearly had a TF700 ticket over top what said something else. When I opened it up the sticker on the bottom of the dock clearly states TF201. That said, it fits just fine. I don't see a reason to make it an issue, I got a decent discount at Best Buy on it anyway, just for asking.

Can you elaborate on "not fitting correctly"? I have a tf201 dock and the lock snaps correctly into place after you insert the pad in the dock. It does take a small ammount of force to do so. It's not much but it isn't just drop in and play either.

The edges on the tf201 and tf700 have a different profile so the hinge on the tf201 dock does not follow the contour perfectly. For some it doesn't seem to be an issue but others it is. As for me I bought a tf201 dock for my tf700 and the tablet will NOT lock into the dock. It's annoying but I've dealt with it since the release but I have a feeling I will eventually have a mishap and it will fall out.

Just received my TF201 dock from tigerdirect.com and it locks into place much like the prime. I tested both the infinity and the prime and takes the same amount of pressure to lock into place. It the dock was already updated to 207. Im happy with it and didnt pay an extra 50 dollars for a sticker.

If you check the engadget review then it says that the TF201 (prime) dock will fit the infinity, but not only will it fit, the prime dock has a larger battery (22Wh vs 19Wh for the infinity). If there's a marginal difference between the edges then I'd gladly sacrifice that for ~16% battery life increase.

Don't let manufacturers confuse you with battery numbers. They are giving them in Watt/Hours. The Infinity draws more current than the TF201 so it operates for a shorter time. P = I * E

22Wh is still more than 19Wh
22Wh means it'll last for 22 hours if something has a powerconsumption og 1 Watt per hour. If the infinity uses more power than the prime it will still get more out of a 22Wh battery than from a 19Wh battery.
After all, the battery time can be described with the following statement:
battery life = Watt hours / power consumption
Though, if someone broke down both dockings and found the same battery then the information from engadget is false, and I won't argue with that.
Correct - the batteries between the two docks are exactly the same - CraftyHack even posted pictures to prove it...

I just returned my prime to visions today and they ordered me an infinity + infinity dock... I got my keyboard from a diff store and haven't returned that yet. so I shouldn't return it and just get my money back when the keyboard gets here!?!?!
I paid 130 or so for the prime dock from bestbuy and it'd only be $20 that I'm missing out on now cause I paid $150 for the infinity dock

My TF201 AG dock is not exactly the same colour... it is very close in colour to my TF700, but it isn't the same. The only way you would notice (for mine anyway) is if you took them apart, lied them on a table in a well lit room, and closely examined. In this case you would notice, otherwise, I think many would argue they are the same colour.
That said, apart from the colour, the dock works perfect and I have had no issues with it.
Note my TF201 and TF201 dock were identical in colour.

No, the innards are probably almost identical, but the docking part itself is shaped differently. The dock that is supposed to be TF7000 fits the TF700 tablet exactly, locks perfectly (snaps closed) and is the exact same color. I think its battery is a bit smaller and located more to the front of the keyboard for a better balance with the tablet open. That's the one I have. The Prime dock still works but is slightly different in color and fit.

I picked up a TF201 **** off Amazon for $120 and it fits pretty darn good and the lock does snap closed. And the battery is a bit bigger on the TF201. Why would you pay more for a dock with a smaller battery.
The battery is *not* bigger in the TF201 dock - again, someone took both completely apart and the batteries are the same...
I do wonder if the docking part is slightly different though since some folks with the TF201 dock found that it does not lock automatically...
Or, the docking part may be the same too - I don't know for sure.
Why do you think think the battery is bigger in the TF201 dock?

If you are asking me, I heard that the TF700 dock battery has slightly lower capacity. I read it in a review. Since it has to fit into a smaller space in order to improve the balance, they made it a bit smaller.

well its really feels kinda cheap and microsd card is killing me (there is just an open slot) and its gets an error every ~30min, microsd worked fine in galaxy s3 before...
but well, thats the downside, the rest is kinda nice and the price is killing, so yeah !
Also got it from Amazon.de, I guess they received an early batch and started shipping immediately. I'm quite happy with it, it's feels okay (plastic but nice), is fast and runs smoothly. Modifications by Asus are few and usually well made - except for a permanent button in the left hand corner that lets you used floating apps because you can't remove it even if you don't like using such apps
As for the sd card, I had the same problem two days ago but it stopped. Probably it just was inserted slightly askew. The missing cover for it is a bit of a design flaw but a short piece of transparent duct tape can fix that (It's a 149 € device after all)
Since Amazon started shipping them early, I had hoped someone had found a way to root them already, which is the only thing that bugs me at the moment. Hopefully someone will hack it soon. I expect there will be quite a demand for those devices since the Nexus 7.2 is still not out and this is basically a Nexus 7 with better hardware and SD card support anyway

Wish I could order one here in the U.S. I've been waiting ever since they announced this thing!
Worth the price
Hi guys,
I already got it and tested it now quite a while. Yeah it feels a bit cheap but it certainly is! I will use it for surfing on the couch and reading book, comics etc. so it doesn't really bother. And that's what Asus wanted with this little thingy.
The screen looks pretty much like SGS2 quality screen, of course a bit bigger.
The Asus android is.. well.. ok i guess ^^. It will give you constantly show you a symbol in the upper bar when you install a SDcard and the wifi direct did only work a single time..
I will use other roms if they're available i think. I already read about some devices with GPS failure or SDcard slot failure, so i think the price does come with low quality. But you can change it as long as you get a working one^^.
The case is completely ok. Many described it as slippy because it's plastic. Hmja it is, but if you don't have too sweaty hands it's not worse than a iPhone 3G or so.
Mine has a bit of an sharp edge around the upper side. well..
So for 150 € its really okay. But with new roms it would be even better, i am sure.
Hey guys. I just got the tablet and it is great. I have a question about screen-protectors.
They are very few and very expensive screen protectors that are specified for Memo pad HD 7. My question is: are there other(cheaper) screen protectors that will fit the screen area of the tablet? It will be a temporally solution until cheap china-made screen-protectors hit the market.

They are mostly expensive because they are also non-reflective. You could try buying one made for the predecessor (like this one) and cut away parts that don't fit.
Thank you for the advice. I will order some from eBay.
btw do you use any type of case on your tablet? And what are your thoughts on available cases for the Memo pad HD 7?

Screen-protectors, none..
Thanks, that explains it. Europe got the tablet a week or two ago, but it's still not in the U.S.
Hello again. I'm reporting after having some full days of experience with the tablet. It is flawless! Best value for that money. Still have not got my hands on proper accessories Amazon still haven't shipped the PersonaCover and the screen protectors haven't arrived yet.
I have a generic tablet question: Is there a way of using the front camera as a sensor to not dim/switch-off the screen? When i'm watching the screen it will not switch-off. Something like the build in sensor on the Galaxy S3?
Why there is no dedicated asus memo pad hd7 sub-forum?
I'm a bit new, but its kinda hard to look for the topics all around the forum!

[Q] TF700T won't lock to dock

I just got a refurbed TF700T from one of Newegg's ebay deals. Tablet seemed to work OK, but when I bought a used AD-01 dock, it wouldn't lock to it - the connectors would mate, but they would easily pull apart without having to move the latch button. I returned that dock, assuming it was defective, but I just tried another one and it has the same problem. Is there anything about the TF700 itself that could cause this? Or is it a frequent failure with the dock?
Thanks.

There are small plastic noses on the tablet that the metal hooks in the dock hook into - they tend to break easily.
See http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Asus+Transformer+Infinity+TF700+Teardown/10306 - step 2, middle image (not the circled part, but on the right side of the hole).

Thanks! Those appear to be missing on mine, at least on one side. Hopefully I can get a warranty replacement on this.

Don't bother. They wll break just as fast as the original ones. Check out this thread for a permanent solution (post 52+) with a few drops of JB Weld:

I did this more than a year ago and the connection is still rock solid.

Cool, thanks. ASUS was less than helpful, giving the "refurb warranty does not cover physical damage" spiel. With issues like this, I am amazed that they continually come out on top in laptop reliability surveys (maybe those surveys don't rate customer service?).
