ANSWER:
The Moto G has Miracast support from the hardware, but it is disabled by default on 4.3. If you want to enable it you need to modify this build.prop: persist.debug.wfd.enable=1
With the 4.4.2 update it is enabled by default.
Original question:
Hello,
Do you guys see any hardware related reasoning behind the wireless display option missing from the Moto G?
Wifi direct is working perfectly and I don't see why is that piece of software is missing.
/M
Hm.. good one.
Most probably because of the low price. "Want this? Try Moto X"

It's possible under the KitKat update, the option is restored according to a screengrab on another thread.

since then I found, that it is possible to enable the option through modifying the build props even on 4.3. Do you know if you have seen it on stock 4.4.2?

Infusion ROM from till as has miracast enabled and it works, according to till as its a software thing and not hardware. So it may help to check there or use the ROM.

Already been verified the standard kitkat release has it enabled

Build.prop needs to be modified to enable screen mirroring. It is a small change in one line from 0 to 1
persist.debug.wfd.enable=1
Reboot and there should be an option for screen share in settings.

Miracast
Has anyone managed to get Miracast working using a PTV3000 (push2tv) Netgear device with the Moto G after this amendment?
Would really appreciate any feedback on this.

Even on kitkat, when it's already enabled by default, miracast is not working.

Does anyone know around this situation??
So i have 4.4.2 Kitkat on my retail (phones4u) Moto G , bu there is no wireless display option ?
I notice it was before the update that people were saying its included in KK , but i have not seen anyone since confirm this.
Should this option be available now , and if so any ideas why i dont have it ?
Thanks

it is there, but missing the part where you can enable it. settings/display/cast screen
there should be a menu button (which is missing) where you could switch it on

I have this Miracast dongle: http://www.ebay.com/itm/WIFI-Displa...-AirPlay-Wireless-TV-Share-NEW-/380780733199?
My phone does make a connection to the dongle with Wifi direct (see pic). Also under Wifi settings --> Wifi direct it lists the connection as active. According to the manual of the dongle, when it says 'Ready to display', it should start the screen casting. Unfortunately it doesn't. It also doesn't show anything under display --> cast screen.
Everything seems to be in place with the connection. I'm wondering whether our devices miss the supporting hardware, or that it's just a disabled setting by Motorola to not cannibalize on the Moto X.
Up for this
I was looking for Miracast dongle for my TV to link it with the G, because of the cast option after kk update...
But now i m not sure at all that the G can do it :silly:
can you please share your experiences with Moto g cast?

On latest kitkat, with root I was able to change the for mentioned build property, then I was able to enable wireless display and LG 660s TV showed up and I was able to duplicate my scree with around half a second lag perfectly. Afterwards however I was not able to reconnect, somehow it tries to connect multiple times and kills the previous connection. I read somewhere that it's the TV's fault, but I cannot be sure until I try out with an other one

So I just got my new Moto G (the one with LTE and a microsd card reader) and spotify just won't work with it!
When I start it the screen is the spotify grey background but with the settings tab to the left. However I cannot press anyhting or use the app at all. The phone is on android 4.4.3 and I'm using the latest Spotify Music app.
Sometimes I can get into the app and play a song but after a short while it stops and freezez up and only a reboot can fix it. Open the recent view and killing the app never works. I must reboot it in order to use the phone at all. I have cleared all the caches serveral times and installed and uninstalled it.
Also now I'm not able to play any music at all the app crashes constantley.
Just wondering if there is anyone else having these problems on the moto g and the moto g lte version? Seems very odd, never experienced this problem on any android phone before.
I own a Moto G LTE too and Spotify works fine on it. Maybe you are experiencing a microsd issue (did you insert it correctly? At which class does it belong to?). Try to remove it from the phone and then try to open spotify again.
I own the Moto X 2nd Generation and used the Gear 2 smoothly, but after I updated to Android Lolipop the app no longer works, to open the Gear Manager app it stops working. I wonder what do I use Gear 2 again on My Moto X.
Ps: The first time I used the app lowering gear manager here in the forum.
I like your after updating a lollipop I can not connect with my Moto G second generation , someone will have some solution or signed app or something ?
I have factory reset my nexus 5 in an effort to improve battery life, however I have now run into an issue with my moto 360. I can no longer use my 360 to make my phone ring/text contacts. There no longer seems to be an option in Google now settings: accounts and privacy to enable contact recognition.
When using voice commands on my phone alone there is no issue with it ringing contacts I ask it to. I have tried enabling OK Google detection when when the screen is off.
Any suggestions? Has anyone found a work around for this?

This feature is on by default.
Sorry but it isn't. See:
https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/4367425
It is not an option on my nexus 5 since factory resetting, and means that I can't instigate voice calls using my moto 360.

Are you thinking that Google is as fast as we are.. You are wrong my friend.
Fair enough, any ideas why my phone won't recognise any commands from my moto 360 to ring contacts etc... then? All I get is a message on my moto 360 to "try again on my phone" which appears after the 360 finds the right contact and the right number and tries to ring.

Sorry, no. But maybe you can find your answer here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android-wear
Hi everyone, so like the title of the thread suggest. My LG V50 (SKT model) gets shut down everytime I on the Wifi function, use the gallery app made by LG (the google photos app works fine), music app by LG (the google play music works fine too) as well as the file manager app on the phone. Whenever I click on them my phone will automatically shut down after a few seconds and I have to manually on it back up. May I know what is the issue with my phone? I've tried to flash some LG official roms using LG UP but the issue seems to be consistent...Thank you very much for reading this and I hope any of you will be able to let me know the potential issues that my phone might have.
