Difference between Canadian and AT&T One X

So after reading the Engadget review of the One X, I've become intrigued with the differences between the Canadian and AT&T versions of the One X. Searched and didn't see anything referencing this directly. The article says LTE should work fine on both AT&T and Canuck networks.
So, besides saying HTC at the top instead of AT&T and I suppose having Rogers bloatware instead of the usual AT&T crap, is there any other difference?

The moment we have a ROM granting that functionality, I am flashing. I do not live in an LTE area
First world problems....
Also, another difference is the ability to tether freely. Not that I use this feature. However, it would be nice.

I believe the AT&T model lacks the ability of a LTE on/off toggle, tethering and a few optings in the camera like time lapse (I think there might be one othere, not sure though).
I think most things we will be able to rip out of the International model or the Rogers model and cram them into the AT&T version. Also, Im sure custom roms will add all of these features back in.

Sounds good. Well I pre-ordered like most of you and see mine has shipped. Can't wait until tomorrow!

Is there any PHYSICAL difference to the exterior of the AT&T version? Are the phones identical apart from CPU and software?

cpu's are the same, all hardware is the same.. only difference is software...

Yes, it will, I have a Rogers One X and used the micro sim from the AT&T One X in it. But the trick is getting them to add the LTE data plan to your account. If you already have an AT&T branded LTE device, then you shouldn't have a problem. But good luck getting them to add an LTE data plan to your account if you don't. They insist on using IMEI numbers now to determine which data plans you can add to the account. Your best bet is to borrow or buy a cheap LTE AT&T phone, get your data plan switched to an LTE one, get a micro sim, get them to activate it on your non-micro sim device ,and then switch the micro SIM to your Rogers One X.
It is possible, just a PITA.

The AT&T version of the One X has a snapdragon dual core processor as opposed to the international version that has the Nvidia Tegra quad core processor. This is due to the Tegra processor not being compatible with LTE .http://www.att.com/onex/
Does anyone know if the external measurements of the two One X's are the same?

I am currently on the Unlimited iPhone Data plan, and they switched me over to the LTE Unlimited Plan with an LTE IMEI. I might buy the One X from Rogers Unlocked.

Between the LTE ones yes. International and LTE ones are different

Both the Canadian(Rogers) One X and US(AT&T) One X are the Same Device other than the sofware running on it, and the lithographed branding under the glass at the top (one say's htc, the other AT&T printed backwards on the underside of the glass)
Both are the PJ8310000
If there was a variation in the hardware one would have a different digit in this number
like the Telus DHD and Inspire 4G for example
both same device, different housing (for branding) <- why it got the different number
Telus DHD was PD9814000 and the Inspire 4G was PD9812000 (International was PD9810000)
THE CANADIAN AND U.S. ONE X'S ARE THE EXACT SAME DEVICE.
THEY ARE INTERNATIONALLY KNOWN AS THE 'ONE XL'
THE ONLY THING DIFFERENT IS THE SOFTWARE ON IT.
(that includes software customization, rf channel configs, dz data, etc...)

when you guy's get root, you'll be able to swap the services.jar, services.apk and get the same thing for yourselves.
ps: other than the boot/down annimations - being pointed to by ../CID/default.xml, the 'scene' addidion/layout in ../MNS/default.xml (both the customize folder), and carrier apps, the rogers rom is vanilla.

I'm not familiar with the Rogers software. I'm in the US and eyeing a Rogers version, if I were to get one from say Negri, does it have FREE wifi hotspot?

From what I have seen, when you are not in an LTE area the LTE is disabled and doesn't kill your battery. It's still be nice to have a toggle though.
For tether, why not just root and use WiFi Tether?

my biggest question is how to know if the HOX is AT&T or International version? does it have some kind of logo or something?
second does the AT&T and International version have differences in terms of internal memory?

AT&T version is dual core, international is quad core. The AT&T version has 16 gigs of storage whereas the international version has 32.

Do you want a AT&T One X in particular or just a Evita from North America?
Rogers, Telus and such all have the same phone but have less restrictions.
Also you could buy an Evita from many places in the world but you need to take care with what LTE frequencies it supports. If you are in NA you should buy a NA phone.

System Settings > about phone > hardware information
Should say at the top Dual Core or Quad Core. Dual Core is the AT&T, Rogers, Telstra One XL.

Getting One XL second hand

Hello to all,
My friend want to buy a one xl second hand and I want to know before getting the phone what are the particular things to this phone that need to be checked before
Also how can I check if the phone is not a fake or I don't know if even already exists a fake on the market, any guide will be welcome, I will meet today with the guy

The guy mentioned that the phone was unlocked from his carrier, is there any problems that can occur here? let's say if I'm going to flash custom roms the phone get locked back? how can be unlocked?

To tell you whether the phone will work on your friend's carrier, we would need to know what country you guys are in, and what version of the phone you are buying. If its a GSM system, the phone SMS, and WiFi should all work. But whether 3G and LTE will work, depends on whether your local carrier is compatible with the bands on the phone. Also, your carrier must offer MicroSIMs, as that is what the phone accepts. I believe any carrier that offers current versions of the iPhones or iPads should have MicroSIMs available.
Don't know if there are any counterfeits of the One X/XL that could really be passed off as the real thing. I think somebody posted a video of a phone that was supposed to be a clone of the One X, but it was a cheap piece of crap that could never be confused with the real thing (looked like cheap plastic, twice as thick, etc.). If you have seen/handled the phone in person, I doubt there would be a counterfeit that could be mistaken as real. The one piece polycarbonate body, gorgeous screen, and the general build quality are probably not going to be anywhere near matched by a cheap knockoff. If you haven't seen a One X/XL in person, least watch some videos of what the phone looks like.

Based on this Romania uses GSM 900/1800 for Voice and EDGE data, and UMTS 2100 for 3G data. Those bands are extremely common, and used in most of Europe, and other parts of the world. Just about any version of the One X/XL should be compatible. You should be okay in this regard. But you may need to find your carrier's data network APN settings and enter them manually, in order for data to work. You should be able to find the APN settings for Orange Romania by Googling.
Never owned a GNexus, so can't personally say. The One XL has a better CPU, gorgeous screen, and beautiful build quality. I know folks on here have switched to the One X and love it, while others prefer the AOSP nature of the Nexus series, and the developer support. Whether its the right switch for you depends on your personal needs and preferences, budget, and how much a One XL would cost you.

I am currently using a one x and just discover my phone plan does support 4G and looking to buy a one xl to fully utilise that.
I am going to buy a 16GB version one XL in Hong Kong and it should be snapdragon S4 one. Just got a few questions.
1. Can I simply unlock the bootloader from HTCdev then flash a custom recovery, and get everything I want? Like custom roms, and of coz root. I know there's a sticky thread in development and it is somehow messed up with AT&T version and thus looks more complicated. (That's not anyone's fault but HTC and the carriers, I understand) Just want to have a quick check on this.
2. Did someone try to bring one XL to Japan? Did it work with b-mobile (ntt docomo?)? I brought my one x to Japan in May unfortunately b-mobile didn't like my phone
Obviously one xl has a different radio and chip to handle phone signal, this gives me a hope.

1. Check which version of the One XL you will be getting. If it's similar to the AT&T version, you may have a hard time unlocking the bootloader. To my knowledge, it's only the North American AT&T version that is not able to be unlocked though HTCDev. The North American Rogers and Telus versions are able to be unlocked as is the Australian Telsra. I can only assume that the One XL's from Hong Kong are the same as the rest.
2. Look up the specs and make sure the 4G/LTE radio is compatible with NTT DoCoMo's bands. I think the One XL (all variants) have quad band GSM but not sure about the LTE bands. Japan is a sort of outcast when it comes to mobile bands as they use different bands that are usually not compatible with non-domestic phones.

Regarding the use in Japan, I checked the carrier does provide 2100 band and one x supported that as well, but for some reasons I was not able to register the network at that time, was using ARHD at that time not sure if that's anything wrong to do with that. One XL support 1800/2600 LTE looks like it does work with Japan band but it may just my "hope".

I also bought my One XL from Hong Kong and mine is definitely not like the AT&T version. It's standard HTC issue
I used the One Click Root method to gain root, spoof cid to get unlocked bootloader through HTCdev, installed TWRP recovery and am now using ViperXL ROM.
Unless you're buying the phone from AT&T I don't think you'll get their version, you should be ok

kahei036, you said you were using ARHD, that rom does not work on the phone this forum is intended for. you have the other htc one x which doesn't support lte.
i would call the carrier to make sure the htc one xl you want to get will work on their network. also ask them why your tegra one x doesn't work. are your apns correct? maybe your using a radio that doesn't work well with your carrier?

[Q] HTC 8X questions for new user

I was looking to buy an 8X and had a few questions before I do I was hoping someone could/would answer:
1. I was wondering if anyone can post suggestions of reputable retailers that sell the "HTC Windows Phone 8X Unlocked" that will work on AT&T with 4G LTE.
Please note I am looking for the official "Unlocked" version straight from HTC.
2. Is it possible to share the internet via Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/USB with the 8X to a PC or other device?
3. Can any one post highly recommended custom ROMs for the 8X?
I am coming from an older HTC HD2 using Dutty's ROMs and I am looking to see what I can do similar with the new 8X phone.

1. I bought it straight from Bell Aliant (Canadian AT&T). Hence, I couldn't recommend you any retailers.
2. Sure is! As far as I know, you can only do a Wifi Hotspot.
3. There's no custom ROMs for WP8. It's a Windows Phone, really not as open as Android. But really, you don't need a custom ROM. I was an Android fanboy before switching to Windows Phone. I loved the idea of customizing my phone and using the latest, fastest ROM. However, this phone is seriously the fastest phone I've ever used, without even having a custom ROM.

I bought an unlocked and unbranded Bell (Canada) 8X. It works 100% on ATT after a couple of tweaks like APN's. I believe that AT&T and Bell are the only two versions that will work with AT&T's LTE. Do some research and check out the exact model numbers before purchasing.

About htc u12+ support cdma network

Hello everyone, I am from China, my English is very bad, please forgive me. I am a fan of htc, but my htc u11 has been stolen. At present, htc's mobile phone can't be bought in China. I can buy htc u12+ through German Amazon. However, since I use China Telecom, it uses the cdma network. The European version is definitely not supported. Therefore, I would like to ask you if you can brush up the Chinese version or other ways to support China Telecom's cdma. Thank you

You can't. HTC did not build the u12+ with CDMA support.
In the United States Verizon uses CDMA and LTE. The u12 only works on LTE for that network but it has issues.

Thank you for the reply. In China, htc u12+ has been completely removed and cannot be purchased. The Chinese version supports cdma network, but unfortunately it can't be bought now.

While I am an HTC fan, such as yourself, I would recommend getting a different device than the U12+. I have the U12+, live in the US and I am on Verizon's network. I cannot dial emergency numbers (911), the phone has proven to be super fragile (I've broken both the back and the digitizer since purchase, both very expensive to replace), HTC customer support has all but dried up, at least for this device, the U12+ is slated to get Android Pie while other older models have gotten it already, even the lower end U12 Life model all before this Flagship phone. Worse is we're hearing there's are no guarantees that it will ever get the update. I've been reading articles that predict 5G will all but kill HTC, at least in the US market, there seems to be no good news out there for this company. If I had my $1000 (USD) to spend all over again knowing what I know now I would have found a different device.

Yes, I agree with you. Htc has no innovation, and the update speed has slowed down noticeably. Not only the United States, but China is also the same. But apart from htc, I really can't find a good phone. My request is to be able to use the cdma network, and to use the excellent lcd screen, and the native system that is close to Google.

The UI was probably 35% of my decision to get this device. I was familiar with Sense and liked it. The specs were probably 40% of my decision. They aren't the absolute best but they are up there. The style/look, my feelings about other HTC devices I've owned and everything else make up the last 25%.
I can't really help you with your CDMA question other than to say that I've had issues on Verizon that I didn't really give much consideration to until this post. If it is true that the device only operates on the LTE portion of the network then that's probably why I had to go to Verizon and have them fix texting for me and probably why I can't dial emergency numbers. There may be other things I'm missing because they aren't as obvious. My entire experience on this device hasn't felt as rich or full as when I was using the HTC M10. I've never experienced that before moving from device to device. I've got probably another 7 to 10 months before I'm aching for a new device and truthfully I don't know what I'm going to do when that time comes.

ok，thanks.I have not used htc 10, I have used htc g11, htc butterfly, htc one m7 m8 and u11. I hope this year htc can get 5g new mobile phone. Since my u11 was stolen, I am using Meizu who my mother has eliminated.
