You need to tell us more info. What firmware version on your device when you bricked? Can you still get into download mode? BTW, there is no way to unlock bootloder if you're on 4.3/4.4 firmware. You could unlock if using third party service for a fee of $50.00.

Please don't say F*c* you easy unlock when it was not the EZ unlock app, but you who hard bricked your phone. There was plenty of info around these forums warning about the bootloader being locked and the fact that use of the EZ unlock app would result in a brick. All you had to do to avoid this situation was do a little research ahead of time. Here is just one such thread where the information was readily available:

Hi All,
I`ve just purchased a NS and I want it to be rooted. It was quite easy on my previous phone (SG3), but now I`m unable to find any guides to do this without unlocking the bootloader.
Actually flashing a custom ROM, such as CM7 would be the next step but I can live with this original one(2.3.4), but rooting is vital, I`m unable to live without eg. titanium backup, but also need the 2 years warranty...
Do you have any idea for solving this?

You can try the Gingerbreak exploit. Other than that I know of no way without unlocking the bootloader.
I`v tried Gingerbreak yesterday but unfortunately it`s not working.

No. I thought the Gingerbreak exploit might have been fixed in 2.3.4 but I wasn't sure. I don't know of any other way without unlocking the bootloader.
Why don't you unlock the bootloader? It is not like the nexus one. The bootloader can be locked again at ur wish with the command : fastboot OEM lock
You can unlock the bootloader, flash your recovery, flash your rom and lock it up again if that is your wish.

This would be fine if this is not causing warranty issues.
To be honest I've read somewhere in this forum that unlocking the bootloader is irreversible and voids the warranty.
So please repose me.

None that I'd know of, maybe someone got a private hardware approach/mod, but that I highly doubt.
Gingerbreak before 2.2 (I think) or unlocking bootloader via fastboot oem unlock.
This really shouldn't be a huge concern.
Look at the language on the unlock screen. Unlike the Nexus One which stated unlocking voids the warranty the Nexus S language has been tweaked to indicate unlocking *may* void your warranty.
Even with unlocked bootloaders HTC honored the warranty on the Nexus One for hardware issues. Don't expect to unlock, root, leave the LED on high for 20 minutes and then try to send it in for repair when it burns out though.
Hi all!
I've had my galaxy s3 for about two months, and now I'm thinking about flashing a new kernel on it. I don't want to flash a new rom yet, only a new kernel. My model is gt-I9300 and I'm running cf root 6.4 with a stock kernel. My problem is that I have no idea if my bootloader's locked or not. So my question is can i brick my phone if I flash on a locked bootloader? And if my bootloader is allready factory unlocked, will I damage my phone if I try to unlock it by using hacks?

the s3 shouldnt have a bootloder at least i dont think so ....but to unlock it you would have to make a profile with samsung to unlock it and ...if its locked it wont allow you to flash anything it wont break it but it might brick it

hello i got a s7 from straight talk . and it model is SM-G930VL
what does that follow under .. i was thinking verizon but verizon doesnt have the L in it . Also would i be able to root using that method that in the forum . also Which roms would i be able to use when i root it?

It should be under the Verizon model. Usually tracfone does not lock the bootloaders on their variant. On another thread a guy flashed the verizon firmware to this model with no bricks and issue. but doing that WILL lock the bootloader. I hope he responds to my post. want to know to what extent it was flashed and if knox got tripped.

would you be able to show me the right direction to where he got the method to root his.? also if you learn anything else from him . can you let me know. so this mean I have an unlock bootloader? doesn't that mean I can root easier?

I should be able to get one of these mids august hopefully and will use it as a test device to see what bricks it and what hack can be done. In the past tracfone has release the SM-S975L(Tracfone Unlocked bootloader) which equals to an SGH-I337 (AT&T Locked bootloader), they released the S5 & S6 which equal to the SM-G900V and SM-G920V, both have Unlocked bootloaders. So i dnt think the S7 is any different and equals to the SM-G930V. Any root method that works for the SM-G930V should work on the SM-G930VL. But again this is just my say based on past experiences, i wont know until i get the phone and try all this. For what I know so far he was able to flash the complete verizon firmware which i think will flash a locked bootloader and no going back after it.

So i was able to flash the full latest verizon firmware and fully ended up converting the phone to an SM-G930V. SO provided that you flash the firmware on which root was achieved for the SM-G930V, then there is really no stopping you from rooting this phone. As expected due to flashing the verizon firmware the phone has a locked bootloader now but root was achieved regardless.
Proceed at your own risk.
I have the Sm-g930vl (tracfone) and would like to confirm the bootloader is unlocked. I can boot into both recovery and download mode but cannot connect with fastboot to get device info. Is there another way to check?

Bootloader is locked and cannot be unlocked. Samsung devices do no use fastboot.

Thanks for the info. Do you know if I can edit the build.prop with adb without rooting? I've never messed with Samsung. Seems a different beast.

I was hoping to enable hotspot. I've read where people have flashed the 930u firmware and can enable it but I'm already on Nougat even on tracfone firmware.

I see, the only way I see this working for you is by third apps or flash a firmware that supports it.

I am a little new to xda, but I've been trying to customize my Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016, metropcs) for a long time. I've looked through the forums to try to find out how to unlock my bootloader. I've tried the unlock bootloader guide but it's no use. Apparently, one user said samsung doesn't support fastboot anymore, only odin .
So instead, I've enabled oem unlock to unlock my bootloader. When I tried to flash TWRP onto my phone via. Odin, TWRP doesn't get installed. I've also used their app, no budge either.
I strongly suspect that my bootloader is locked. Can anyone help me?

I was going thru same turmoil when I watched a YouTube demo in desperation of a fix. Guess what My error was, I was pushing volume down button for twrp not up button. Use up home off to boot to twrp recovery.

I reckon if you're on stock NRD90M.G920VVRS4DQD1 your bootloader is locked.
isn't it possible to downgrade and upgrade Verizon roms for the G6 as long as we remain anove 5.1.1?
by the way, there are two Nougat roms available for the G6 over at samsung-updates, one ends in ...DQD1 and the otherone ends i ...DQE1.
There is a root from Vhai fire for the ...DQD1, not for the other one, but... because both roms are Verizon's and meant for the same device, flashing either one shouldn't brick the device, because both have Verizon's digital signature.

nevermind, you are totally right. however, the fact that chainfire released a root for the ...DQD1 tells me he had to have unlocked the bootloader first, which now brings us to the question... how did he unlock the bootloader?
You could downgrade to the OK7 firmware and root that. The string attached is that you will need to run MrMike2182's rootatboot script every time you want to boot the phone.
so has anyone tried this? does it work?
I know it trips KNOX but i don't really care. i just dont want a brick.

This makes me so sad. What phone should I get next that is root-friendly, i.e. I can keep the software/firmware up to date and still keep my root.

S6 root only runs under android 5.1.1 also you need a vm to flash the kernel to the phone. Us cellular is root-friendly. Only at&t and verizon and sprint and T-Mobile lock their bootloaders.

Chainfire just runs an automated script which generates a CF-Auto-Root file for ANY model, whether the bootloader is locked or not.
So the answer is, he didn't unlock it, but simply generated a file regardless, and it's up to the user to figure out the their bootloader status.

Same as Verizon, it's locked down tightly.
Your best bet would be a Sprint version, which has an unlocked bootloader and can be unlocked for both GSM (ATT /TMO) and LTE (VZW) with the proper equipment (unlocking boxes). Or the Tmobile version also has an unlocked bootloader which can be unlocked using online unlocking services but it will only work with GSM cards (ATT/TMO, no VZW!). Both can be rooted via CF-Auto-Root and/or through custom recovery.
Temp root can let u flash a recovery. That's all u need
