Can't install TWRP on SM-J700T1 - Samsung Galaxy J7 Questions & Answers

Hey guys!
I am a little new to xda, but I've been trying to customize my Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016, metropcs) for a long time. I've looked through the forums to try to find out how to unlock my bootloader. I've tried the unlock bootloader guide but it's no use. Apparently, one user said samsung doesn't support fastboot anymore, only odin .
So instead, I've enabled oem unlock to unlock my bootloader. When I tried to flash TWRP onto my phone via. Odin, TWRP doesn't get installed. I've also used their app, no budge either.
I strongly suspect that my bootloader is locked. Can anyone help me?
Thank You in Advance.

You need to tell us more info. What firmware version on your device when you bricked? Can you still get into download mode? BTW, there is no way to unlock bootloder if you're on 4.3/4.4 firmware. You could unlock if using third party service for a fee of $50.00.

Please don't say F*c* you easy unlock when it was not the EZ unlock app, but you who hard bricked your phone. There was plenty of info around these forums warning about the bootloader being locked and the fact that use of the EZ unlock app would result in a brick. All you had to do to avoid this situation was do a little research ahead of time. Here is just one such thread where the information was readily available:

Possible Bootloader Unlock?

I found a post on "lssrpawn" about a possible unlock of the Galaxy S6 bootloader. I wanted to run it by you guys before I tried anything, not to mention the post itself is rather vague. I can't post outside links yet , so I'll just say how I got to it. I googled "Galaxy S6 Bootloader Unlock", and clicked the second link which is "lessrpwn.com › Tutorials". In the post it mentions 'superboot', and then it mentions using command prompt commands such as 'superboot device', which does not make sense as the superboot files that I found only come with adb-windows, fastboot-windows, etc. There is no superboot file except superboot-windows.bat and the .iso file, so how did the OP get that command at all?
Though very doubtful there will be a method to unlock the bootloader.. I am still hoping.. Please keep up posted~~

Sadly this method isn't for us. If you go to the youtube video linked in the tutorial it shows the fact that he has the Chinese SM-9250 version of the s6, and that the bootloader unlock only works for that Chinese version and a similar taiwanese version.
I don't have any idea why that video is even there, as it does not seem to have any connection to the guide. The guide never mentions CROM service at all, and shows a method that doesn't seem to matter what the phone's country of origin is. Could you further explain why the video is related?
The 'superboot' mentioned in the thread is actually fastboot
They're using the oem unlock command in fastboot to unlock their phone
This method will not work on the Verizon Galaxy S6
There are no current methods to unlock the Verizon Galaxy S6 bootloader and no root methods exist for the Verizon Galaxy S6 after 5.0.2(5.0.1?)
This isn't going to happen in the near future

The thing is, this method doesn't just use straight up fastboot. It first starts the phone up with the superboot.iso, and then uses fastboot oem unlock. I have no idea what the superboot.iso boots the phone into, but maybe there is a possibility that
Superboot launches the phone into a state where the fastboot command works. I would try this method myself if I could get fastboot to recognize my device, but it never will.

V10 h900 root

Does the V10 h900 have root capability for marshmallows?
I am also looking for root on marshmallows, any help will be greatly appreciated. thank you so much in advance
I can't remember. Can you unlock the bootloader on the H900? If so, you can root it -- even on Nougat.

In developer options, you can tick on OEM unlock, but I'm having a problem booting into the bootloader to finish the adb instructions to unlock the bootloader. Is there another way?

It's not possible to unlock the bootloader on the H900 via the LG website anyway.
I cannot post url's here but if you go to androidsage and search for the LGV10 you should find some useful instructions on how to root the device without unlocking the bootloader first.
I cant find anything

Need help - "The system has been destroyed"

So today i decided to downgrade from V10.2.1.0.PEEMIXM to V10.0.11.0.PEEMIFH because i was having serious battery issues on V10.2.1.0.
I should have looked into it more carefully but nope, my dumb ass decided to install the older ROM version via the Updater in Settings and it bricked my device in the process.
Now my device is stuck on boot with the message "The system has been destroyed. Press power button to shutdown".
I have the global version with the bootloader locked. The only thing i have access to now is fastboot.
Any ways i can recover from this? Any help is greatlyyy appreciated.
You can try to unlock bootloader with fastboot mode, but i'm not sure that works because the system has been destroyed and your account has been destryed too. I think, the best for you, is to send it in warranty for repair. I have bricked a Redmi Note 4 like that and even with the test point method, he has never work again.

If you can find the fastboot version of the ROM you were on before downgrading just flash it with miflash

Fortunately for me i was able to unlock the bootloader. Likely because i registered my device since i first got it (about 1 month now), so i think i must have met the wait time requirement and it was fine that i couldn't access the system.

I tried miflash the first time with my bootloader still locked but miflash refused to work with a locked bootloader.
So i tried again with my bootlocker unlocked and it worked as expected.
Lesson learnt. All is well again and i'm able to keep my bootloader locked with the "flash_all_lock" option.
Thank you so much for all the help!

I am very sorry for reviving this thread, but if it's possible, can I ask you how you had managed to unlock the bootloader through fastboot? Now I am facing a similar situation to the one you once did, where my phone is stuck with the error message "The system has been destroyed" with a locked bootloader, and the only thing I have access to is Fastboot. I will greatly appreciate it if you could take some time to help me out because I have tried looking everywhere on xda forums and yours seems like the only one that is very similar to what I am currently facing now. Thanks so much.

Unless you have got unlock permission and linked phone to account you can't unlock.
Unlock like how you would normally - put the phone into fastboot, connect it to your PC, and run the mi unlock tool. For this to work, hopefully you have associated your device to a mi account and have met the unlock requirements ie. surpassed the waiting period. Otherwise you're out of luck as there is no other ways (that i know of) to register the device now as you can't get into the system.
As a last resort you can try opening up the back of the phone and flash new firmware using the test point if unlocking is not possible. I'm not sure how or where the testing point is located exactly, but it's a possible solution that i found while researching when my device was bricked. Good luck!

I don't think there's any yet, it's only been on the market for a few months. Aside from it's size it's pretty nice, I've had it 2 weeks and love the battery life.

I will be working on mine purchased from Metro PCS. Its OEM bootloader is locked at the moment. I will be using Magisk and flashing a TWRP. Utilizing an ADB wireless USB connection from PC. I will keep you posted if someone else doesnt beat me too it. Either way this thread is going so im sure together we can knock this out. Im going to do my LG Stylo 4 firsy. Its OEM came unlocked from Metro PCS...so i scored. Just havent had time. I just did my ZTE ZMax Pro Z981 from Metro PCS...it also was unlocked OEM. They will all need a PC usb connection and Magisck. You can find them in threads here. Good luck. Will post again when i get time. Hope this helps a little. Here you might not get an answer you want...but if you dig youll find what youre looking for...just got learn by doing...like they said...always backup... everything...first...dont forget to remove sd before you factory reset or you will wipe it. And your phone. If youre not sure...dont change things you dont know...you will brick your phone. Follow directions you find in threads...and you will be fine. I learned how to be a great chef from other chefs who told me the ingredients but never amounts of ingredients. Thats how you become a great chef and also become great developer...good luck guys. Im learning too. Share what you learn. FYI...the one click....dont bother...IJS...PC you will need for this....

How do you plan on flashing those if the bootloader is locked.....?
Sorry to break it to you, but it's a Samsung thing. It doesn't matter if it's a device from a carrier or carrier-free directly from Samsung, if you buy a U.S. Samsung phone you will not unlock bootloader freely.

Correct
first you need oem unlock on that takes pluging in phone holding volume+/- (both) and power till it shutdown and restarts with the unlock option in recovery
Just bought this but the 5G version
Hi, I just rooted my Samsung Galaxy A13. Here's a quick tutorial of what worked for me:
Prerequisites:
Install Heimdall onto your computer. I used Manjaro Linux as my OS, and haven't tested anything else. Install any drivers if necessary.
Install Magisk onto your phone. I recommend using the F-Droid store/app, or Magisk's GitHub page.
Steps
Install any updates for your phone.
Unlock Bootloader
First of all you need to unlock the bootloader:
Enable Developer Mode by navigating: Settings > About Phone > Software information.
Tap Build number about 7 or 8 times until it says You're now a developer.
Allowing the bootloader to be unlocked:
Settings > Developer Options > Enable OEM unlocking.
Allow it to be enabled if prompted.
Turn off your device.
Turn on Download Mode by holding down Volume Up and Volume Down.
When you see a blue screen, hold Volume Up until it shows Unlock Bootloader screen.
Press Volume Up to confirm.
Flashing firmware
https://samfw.com/ is a good resource for downloading firmware. Be careful that you're downloading the correct firmware though. You can find information by navigating on your phone:
Settings > About Phone, and Settings > About Phone > Software information. If you call *#1234# it will show you the current firmware.
Extract the archive.
Extract the file staring with AP.
Extract the file boot.img.IZ4.
Move boot.img onto your phone.
Open Magisk. Click install. Locate and patch the file. Move the file back onto your computers.
Extract the file starting with CSC. Locate the pit file.
Open Heimdall.
Choose the pit file and the patched boot image.
Put your phone in Download Mode and connect via USB.
Flash your phone.
If it worked successfully, your phone will reboot. It will probably throw an error before starting. Choose to do a factory reset. This will delete all the user data, but the patched boot file will stay in place.
Download Magisk again. Follow the prompts.
To test if you have super user access, install Termux from the F-Droid store. type su into the terminal. You will get a pop up asking if you want to give super user permissions.
Congratulations! You're now the UNIX sysadmin of your own phone!
hello Everyone, a friend of mine from America bought an A13 5G, now we are in Europe and the phone is blocked.
exactly inserting a European sim says:
Phone locked. Please contact our customer service center to unlock your phone.
i tried to unlocked bootloader, but unfortunately i don't have OEM unlock present, no way i get it out!
there is a complicated procedure with Flashing a Combination Firmware, but it looks difficult!!! I haven't done it yet.
but would it be possible to only unlock the phone to use European sims?
many thanks

Unlocking the bootloader would not do anything for you in regards to network unlocking. Those are 2 totally separate and distinct procedures.
What's the Baseband Version on the device? You can find that under Settings-->About-->Software Information (and don't do any software updates to the device if it prompts you to)
Hello, the first thing would be to unlock the bootloader which is very easy in Samsung terminals, In all Samsung is the same, you can see the following video that I recommend. No PC needed, The video is in Spanish but it is only to follow the same steps:
The second thing would be to get root, the easiest would be with Magisk, I recommend you watch this video since it is not necessary to format the cell phone, the video is also in Spanish, but you still follow the same steps. In this case, a PC is necessary:
Soon I will make a post myself, teaching you how to root without losing data, the same way as in the video, in case you didn't understand the video.
There is no boot.img.IZ4 im my ap file
ok i found the boot.img I extracted the ap file with winrar before. some how it does not see the .img files but untarring on linux worked. i managed to re flash the ap fille with odin and i saw lot of .img files being flashed and the extracted foldersize by winrar was way smaler than the archive. so that made me look at the ap file and i got the boot.img patched by magisk and made an lz4 file out of it how do i get that boot.img.lz4 back in the archive?
also whats wrong with fast boot?
"fastboot devices" lists my device when its connected but like many here post it does not work with other commands it failes like thIs :
fastboot flash bootloader b.img
Sending 'bootloader' (32768 KB) FAILED (remote: 'unknown command')
fastboot: error: Command failed
Tried other examples too but nothing works tried the fastboot included in android studio and one of the minimal adb/fastboot. the boot loader is unlocked (Not using fastboot) and odin works fine. my phone is in the "entertering fastboor mode" state .its a samsung galaxy a13 g5 and i flashed this firmware using odin
AP_A136BXXS2BWA1_A136BXXS2BWA1_MQB61124574_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT_meta_OS13 now its stock again with no accounts.
fastboot reboot does work so some is right.
fastboot reboot
Rebooting OKAY [ 0.001s]
Finished. Total time: 0.005s
i hope some one can point me in the right direction.
thx

Fastboot isn't functional on Samsung devices. Samsung replaces it with Download mode. Therefore, all flashing is done via Download mode using Odin, not via fastboot mode using command terminal
