(Review) Zerolemon® Samsung Galaxy S5 8500 Mah Extended Battery + Rugged Case - Galaxy S 5 Accessories

Zerolemon® Samsung Galaxy S5 8500 Mah Extended Battery + Rugged Case
Alrighty folks i got my new Zerolemon 8500 Mah and rugged case i was impressed on the case design and battery, as you can see the in my pictures the battery is a bit more wider so therefore it will make the phone fell like a brick which i don't mind, and as far screen protector goes it's kind of on the cheap side for me. The case, that thing need a drop test for sure, to me it seems like it built to take a heavy hit or two lol. but after my first cycle i'll post my battery life.

I wish I saw this when I ordered my ZL Razor Armor case. While the battery life on this phone is already impressive, I'm very, VERY tempted to buy one of these myself.
...oh, screw it. I will.

its not that big at all, the case works well with both of them, i forgot to add the heart rate monitor is very easy to use with the new case

Can you please add a picture of the case, or is it the same as the rugged for the 7500 mAh battery?

Looks awesome. Question - do you HAVE to use the screen protector? I've never been a fan of those. Is it a separate piece you can put on if you want, or is it pretty much part of the case?

the screen protector on my phone was from extreme guard its the spartian glass one, the one that came with the battery felt really cheap to me it wasnt worth putting on my phone.

It's usually a cheap piece of glued-in plastic. I always remove it and any residual glue on the case itself.

Wonder how the battery life is when you toggle Ultra power saving mode at certain times. I.E. while asleep, long drives, and periods where you know you wont be using the phone much at all. may increase the usage time by a decent bit. I get 2 days stock, when i toggle the Ultra power saving mode and i know im not going to use my phone much, i get 1 day with out using it so im happy right now but would love to have the ZL, if i keep my S5 long.

When arrived, I got 2 days 14 hrs with half battery. It was slow work day, so I didn't use the phone that much. Now it took about 8-9 hrs to fully charge it. So far, 15hrs with lots of transfer data from cellphone to car radio. with 67% left. I will post another update when I use it normal business cellphone.

[REVIEW] Naztech Extended Battery (2400mAh)

So I was told to make a review when I got this, cause people want reviews to see stuff and that ****. Now, onto the review.
Experience:
Arriving home one fateful afternoon, I noticed I had a package from Amazon. I opened up the box like a little fat kid in a candy store, and to my surprise, I didn't get half the item. Sent it back, got another one, all that fancy ****, and I opened it up. As initial impressions goes,
Smelt funny.
The back door is the same "rubber" material as on some of the Logitech mice, and the CR-48.
Battery had some weight to it.
The door cover is MUCH more ridgid than the stock one.
So I put it in and all that fun stuff, tried it out, and yeah. I ran the screen on for about 5 hours, from a 100% charged battery, and I dropped down to 75% in the end. I guess this is somewhat expected, considering the capacity of this battery is almost 2x the stock. Running superclean, standard kernel, the jist.
tl;dr
Pros:
Makes the phone feel more ridgid, stable, sturdy.
LONG battery life, as expected.
Nice grip to the phone.
Generally feels nice on the fingers; i.e they don't stick.
Raises the phone up a bit so the camera lense doesn't get scratched.
Cons:
Smells funky; probably the packaging.
Took me about 15 minutes to get it off. Snaps on so tight that it doesn't come back off easily.
My CR-48 material covering comes off easy, and this is the same material, so I'm worried its going to happen here as well.
This thing costs $24 as of now; if you have the money to spend I see no reason why not to get this, unless you have a limited supply of pocket space; then you're screwed.
Ask me in the channel for pictures, XDA won't let me throw em here.
I just took your advice. I hold you personally responsible if I don't like it. =P
Better battery + a less plastic-ey feel? I'm in.
is naztech a good brand? does the advertised mah match up to the actual?
thanks,

Basing my information on my time with the battery, I'd say its a good brand. They sell other things too, got a website; they mostly do apparel for electronics. Also, yes, the advertised product is exactly as it is.
thx for responding, I think ill buy it tonight.
I should have the battery in today. I'll post up some impressions when I do get it.

Okay. So I have the casing and battery and have had it on for about the last last 24 hours so I will share what I think so far.
Casing: I am thoroughly impressed with the quality of the casing. Honestly, it feels quite similar to the "soft touch" casing that, is found on HTC phones. This is a major plus for me as I hated how plastic-ey the stock casing felt.
The casing is a bit thick though. Id say it close to doubles the thickness of the phone. This isn't as bad as it sounds though as the fascinate us a thin phone to begin with. Personally I don't mind the added thickness and it might even sit a bit better in my hand. My girlfriend however has small hands and dislikes the phone being bigger.
The short version: case feels great. The thickness may or may not bother you.
As for the battery, the life seems good but I'm going to give it a few days to calibrate before I give a final impression.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA Premium App
I went through my first day with this battery and I have the exact same impressions as below. The added thickness bothered me at first but I think I'm already starting to get used to it after only one day of use.
I unplugged my phone at 830 this morning and it's now just past 1030 for an uptime of over 14 hours and I have 51% left. This is just amazing considering my phone usually dies after 6-8 hours of use.
Final impressions: the best $24 I ever spent on any phone accessory I ever purchased!

So is the added fatness worth it? I know I wouldn't be comfortable with a huge lump in my pocket.
If you're gonna have such a huge ass on your phone, why not go with http://www.amazon.com/Seidio-Innocell-Extended-Battery-Fascinate/dp/B004GHMS0S/ref=pd_cp_cps_1

I am going to look into getting a sweet battery, but not real familiar with them, what brands make batteries for these phones?
So this one can be charged using the phone? Or do you have to use an external charger?

No lump, just thicker (about twice), from the pictures. Just what I have been looking for. For $24, I've got to try it. Still at Amazon, same price, in stock, they say.

case for extended battery users?

is there any kind of case out there to protect the front side of the g2x when you have an extended battery? I need an extended battery so that i dont ever have to worry about charging during the day but the drawback is no cover if i drop it on the screen. Im not looking for anything fancy just a little something so that if the phone falls face down it wont hit the screen.
I was wondering the SAME EXACT thing! I would use an extended battery if they made cases for phones with them. Battery life isn't worth damaging my phone.

I felt that way until I went 60+ hours on a single charge with my normal usage. I just try to be careful an if it gets scuffed, oh well. A pretty phone with a dead battery is no use to me.

Not trying to start anything but that is just as "crappy" as batteries you mention.
Seidio is known for their overpricing, you do NOT get $74 of battery when you buy that, not even $60. For ~$20 I'd just go for the OEM 1800mAh slim battery from the Epic Touch....just kidding I'd get two extendeds for $19 shipped *NEW*
I actually just took out my seido for the first time in a long time. I'm so tired of the back coming off. Plus everyone looks at my phone like it's a mutant with that back piece. Feels so much thinner

i would do it you dont really need a protective case just get a screen cover and a battery with a new back plate i like the 3500mah the back plate i got with it is perfect a little bigger but so worth it you can get the cheap on ebay just look for good feed back. Mine works like a champ and if any thing happens i just use my old battery and back plate.
sucks that the cover wont stay on. I need something to extend my battery.

keep us updated.
They said within a couple of weeks. They said that 4 days ago, also they said they are going to release a rugged case version in June. He said to check their amazon store.
Yes, I've received reply from Zerolemon as well. Was told it should by out by the end of may.
But wasn't told about another version of case.

Before I made the purchase to the S4, I had the S3 with the extended battery. Therefore, I took the opportunity to test it out at the T-Mo Store with their Demo Version. Althouth the S3 extended battery is smaller than the the S4 battery area, it fit nonetheless.
Best part, it booted without any problems.
Charging no problem.
(haven't tested the NFC)
Plus, the extended battery case fit snugly as well (except that it covers the flash and speaker area but not the camera).

Noice! I've always strayed away from extended batteries because it makes the phone look pregnant, but the way they do their casing is really slick. And something about 12 hours on screen time just sounds fabulous!
The case covers the light source and the speakers, also covers the headphone adapter.
Basically, my intention is not meant to customize the case to fit the S4. I was making a point for those that already have the S3 extended battery, that it won't be a complete loss when switching to the S4.
I am still going to wait for the S4 extended battery to come out but for the mean time, this beast of an S4 needs the juice.

I agree with you , somewhat...
Before GS4, I had GS2, whith extended battery as well
But from what I read so far, Zerolemon makes a better one, plus the case it makes it trully priceless, since no one makes TPU cases for extended batteries
This phone has pretty good power management system, but as soon as you start using it and the screen is on, especially outdoors, when you need more light to see it in sunlight, you litterally see 1% of power going down almost every couple of minutes
So to make whole story short and really use the full phone with all of it features, you need lots of power for busy full day of use.
I really don't understand people who post pics, how long they phone can work on stock battery. come one wake up people, major battery is used by screen, not by you having it in your pocket.

Otterbox defender case with anker 5200mah mod with pics :)

Did the same mod i had with my note 2. Cut the stock back and back of the hard case in the defender and there is a little bulge but the battery should last quite a bit longer
interesting. how much battery life are you getting with this?

The otterbox defender has a hard plastic inner (green in this case [pun intended]) and a soft, silicone outer case, the purple. You snap on the inner case, then the soft outer case stretches over after.
This post was created and transmitted completely in analog.
Nice....I've been educated. Thanks! Looks good

First charge on battery I am at 15 hrs on battery and 2 and a half hours screen on time and am at 77% battery. Not too bad I guess. Coming from the note 2 with moderate usage I only had to charge every 3 days or so, sometimes more often but I can't expect this to live up to a 6500mah battery lol screen brightness is at about 70% and on lte the whole time.

Yeah, it doesn't change anything on the outer part of the hard case where the holster clips fit. There is just a slight bulge where the battery sticks out of the hole that is cut. I don't use the holster but I clipped it back in just to check. Once the zerolemon 7500mah battery comes out in am going to see if that is a possibility with this setup. I know I'll have to cut more but if it doesn't look too ridiculous and will fit under the silicone case, that bad boy is going in there lol
Hahaha yea that may be a bit more than I really need, lol! So did you buy a replacement back to cut or did you cut your original one. Second thing I wonder and I may just try but see if the edges of the battery can be rounded a bit to not make it look so pointy... But I'm so mad I didn't think about doing this... I really wanted to larger battery and I started to buy the Anker 5200mAh extended battery off amazon but then was worried about not having a case for it (I work outside digging, climbing poles, etc) so I need some protection. So I ended up getting the 2 Anker 2600mAh spare batteries with the wall charger for the batteries. Which works great but I can still kill a battery with my heavy usage so that means I gotta carry the second battery with me.
Really like this and I'm going to order my battery and case tomorrow I think.
Any idea why Anker doesn't have the 5200mAh batt available anymore tho??? Wanted to keep the same brand I already have. And I've had good luck with these batteries so far.
Thanks man
Cut?

You cut the stock back and the otterbox back to allow the battery clearance. If you didn't put the stock back on there then it would be lose and allow dirt and dust in the phone.
I did the same mod by the way lol
