Hey everyone...
So I received my One at 5:30 today from Mr. UPS. It's a beautiful phone. The performance is jaw-dropping. But, like many others, I was hit with the LTE problems on AT&T.
AT&T whitelists certain phones that have been approved to use their LTE network. If you sign up for their service with a non-supported IMEI, they boot you back to HSDPA. I don't have a donor Galaxy S 4/5. HTC One M7/M8, LG G2/G3, etc., to use the IMEI to access the LTE network.
So, I'm extending out to all of you here on XDA. I've opened up the XDA-Exclusive Invite List. I'm donating all 5 of my invites to the community. Does anyone have a spare AT&T LTE-capable phone that they'd be willing to give me the IMEI for temporarily? This isn't a scam...I don't even know what I'd do with an IMEI other than use it to get my OPO on AT&T's LTE network. Please, help me out. PM me if you have a donor IMEI. Thank you all so much in advance. This is a huge favor that you'd be doing me.
I used one from the demo phone at best buy and it has worked fine so far. If I get in there tomorrow I'll try to get you one.

That is freaking brilliant....
I'm sorry @treChoy, but discussing about IMEI trading and / or changing is against xda rules. So please don't do this in open forum.

Hello all! Although I have been a forum follower daily, this is my first post.
I am offering up a bounty of $1000 USD to help me finally resolve the global capabilities of the Verizon I535.
Recently, I purchased this phone, replacing an iPhone, from Verizon in the US. I returned home here to the Dominican Republic and learned that this phone is not capable of connecting to our local networks other than Edge technology.
I started trying all the advanced settings through various ROM's and actually came VERY close to enabling 3G. The signal came on for about 30 seconds and then reverted back to Edge. CM10's ROM was the closest that gave me this option.
So! Who wants to join in this Bounty???? OR, would someone be interested in swapping my I535 for an ATT model??
Thanks everyone and looking forward to the follow up posts!!

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I did try everything that has been on that forum link.
I found another that I believe is on the right track to what may be missing in enabling true 3G.
This was the quote that caught my attention:
"If it is anything like the Rezound, it comes SIM unlocked from the factory, but the stock TW framekwork may not support the full GSM capabilities yet. CM10 doesn't sim unlock it, it just adds the missing code. "
Again, thanks for any info!

If there possibly is not a fix for this issue, is someone willing to trade a working Global phone for my S3?? Today I looked at a friend who has a Droid Razor that just received an update from Verizon and it works flawlessly. Also, the same friend has a Rezound working too.
Any takers? I'm starting to really HATE this S3 with this issue. It is like being on Dial Up internet service on an old Commodore 64 PC!
Frustrated....
You could buy an unlocked phone for the $1000 bounty.

Yes, I could, but I was trying to keep my i535. I cant find an ATT model S3 here locally in the DR for anywhere near $1000.
My carrier is Claro and the cost to buy one from them is approx $1485 USD. So, the Bounty is still less.
Good phones here in the DR are better than having gold in your pocket. Literally! People kill each other over technology here, sad but true.
If you want it bad enough - prepare to pay heavily.
You have a phone you would like to sell me then??
Holy cow, that's crazy. No I don't have one to sell you.

If you're looking for an AT&T model why don't you post in the AT&T forum?
You could go to the market and buy what you want/ need for less money......

Hello everybody. Please forgive me for showing my ignorance. I'm very new to Android phones so please bear with me.
I recently purchased a OnePlus One from a friend of mine. I've been using the phone for a week on T-Mobile's network without a hitch. It doesn't work so well in my basement apartment but I still love the phone. Anyway, I went to make a call yesterday (10/11) and "Mobile Network Not Available." I called T-Mobile. I was told that the mfr put a block on the IMEI as the phone had been reported lost or stolen. I can assure you, the person I purchased it from did no such thing nor, obviously, did I. Does anyone have an explanation as what might have happened?
Trying to get OnePlus Customer Service to contact me is like trying to swim through cement, so I'm turning to the pro's here I've read great things about this forum and I'm sure someone here can help me.
I will try anything at this point. If someone could email me, I'd be very grateful. Thanks for any guidance you can offer!
Fred
That's interesting. T-mobile should not have the power to block the imei since it's an international phone. Att doesn't even have the imei in their systems. You haven't attempted to root your phone correct?

Check that you got a valid IMEI at all

Are you in the UK? Did your friend get the phone new from 1+?
Maybe someone got hold of the imei number and then claimed on their insurance by saying it was lost or stolen. In the UK it doesn't matter if it is a carrier phone or sim free, if it is reported on the lost/stolen register it will be blocked and can't be unblocked. It will still work outside of the UK

According to T-Mobile, they cannot block a non-T-Mobile phone, as you say. No, I haven't attempted to root the phone. I know what rooting is but I'm such a technological idiot I would never attempt it.
Here's my problem:
I recently brought a SAMSUNG Galaxy S5 Sport SM-G860P by Sprint from eBay. The problem is when I asked the previous owner to help me with the unlocking,
the previous owner told me that he/she is unable to contact Sprint due to poor network reception in his/her area.
And so I thought I can simply unlock the phone by calling Sprint (the way I use to call Verizon when I purchased phones from eBay), but no.
Sprint required more information compared to Verizon when comes to unlocking the phone for you.
I told Sprint that I was unable to provide the account number, security PIN, etc. of the phone due to I brought the phone from eBay
& moreover is that I'm residing in Singapore (outside of the USA), but Sprint apologies that they're unable to further proceed with the unlocking service
due to lack of information.
Here's my request:
Would truly appreciate anyone could help me with my problem & willing to donate a small sum of funds via PayPal to whoever managed to unlock my phone.
My phone's information:
Brand & Model: SAMSUNG Galaxy S5 Sport SM-G860P
Carrier: Sprint, U.S.A
Phone Number: 321-987-2207 (previous owner Sprint's mobile number)
Phone's IMEI : 990004697012726
Phone's MEID : 99000469701272 (HEX), 256691517707344754 (DEC)
Phone's OS : Android 5.0 (lollipop)
Hey!
That is pretty lame that you can't unlock your phone.....I've been talking to my bro as he moved to Australia and had to get his phone unlocked. he said he just took it to town and got someone froma phone shop to do it, it did cost him about $200 for this though! But he did say that he was recommended a website that might be able to help. I've not used it before, but I've noticed a few other people have

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately the website shared by you doesn't my phone (G860P)
and also turns out that the previous owner didn't finish clearing the outstanding payment
for this phone's account, therefore I'm unable to get the unlock code from Sprint's technical specialist.

No problem, sorry I couldn't help further.
I would suggest that you take it to a local shop to get it unlocked? They won't need to worry about the previous customer. :fingers-crossed: It looks like the person that sold it to you probably didn't want to pay the rest of their bill. (or not, just my personal opinion) Anyway I really hope you'll be able to sort this out soon, it's not nice to hear people getting messed around.

Actually I can understand how the previous owner feel about Sprint's services. Firstly some sites where people mentioning that Sprint
doesn't have a good coverage in U.S and secondly their have poor customer service. So I wouldn't really wanna put the blame on the
previous owner.
But I'm really glad that at least someone respond to my call for help in technical assistance.

Well as long as you are happy! That's all that matters, I tend to not by second hand phones..........I used to work in a second hand company and the horror stories you'd hear on a daily basis!!
You can easily unlock oyur S5 Sport by using this app: http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...print-samsung-unlocker-unlock-sprint-t2928250
It also worked for me in Germany. Once you hit the Unlock button, reboot your phone. Dont forget to put the phone in GSM Mode in Mobile Network Settings !
enjoy
Hi all,
I have a Samsung Galaxy 4 that I got with a 2 year contract with Verizon. That contract is up and I like the phone very much. I saw that I could save a lot of money with Ting as my carrier (Ting.com) and bought a SIM card from them. I followed all of the Ting instructions, but working with their support staff apparently they have issues working with phones that did not come from Sprint or Tmobile. I can make calls with my phone through Ting, but texts do not work and when I call voicemail it gives me an error. This error might be because the phone is still calling the Verizon service for voicemail, which is cancelled.
If I root my phone (never done it before) can I bring it back to the manufacturer settings before Verizon put any software on it? If so, what software/ROM do you recommend to get it back to factory settings. I think this is my only chance to get Ting to work with this phone. I don't want to have to sign up with Verizon or ATT and pay activation fees.
I appreciate the help.

Hi, thanks for using XDA assist!
The problem here is that Verizon is a GSM carrier and Sprint is CDMA.

Thanks for responding. Actually Ting has deals with Tmobile and Sprint so it works. I am GSM and the phone says Tmobile at the top now, so I dont think that is the issue. Do you know if my idea regarding rooting will work?

Unfortunately, I don't think that will work. I know from repairing phones, that phones built for Verizon have different internal hardware than phones built for Sprint. While it may be possible that I'm wrong, and your phone might be successfully ported to Ting, I feel it is highly unlikely.
I think you should contact Ting customer support and get a definite answer before proceeding.
Hi Im new here and needed some clarification regarding an issue with my IMEI on my T mobile Note 2. I bought it used back in June off of a facebook buy and sell group to fix it up and sell it. At the time I bought it, it had a clean IMEI, and the people who sold me the phone told me they were the original owners. a few weeks ago, I again checked the imei, and it was still clean.
Now Im about to sell the phone, but I check one more time and now its blacklisted on T mobile and Metro, but clean on ATT and Verizon according ti imeidata.net. I check tmobiles website and it says its been reported lost. Im going to try to contact the people who sold it to me, and if they wont help me, Ill be contacting Tmobile and Asurion. After doing some research about what else I can do, Ive came up with a few options, but I still need some advice.
1. Sell as is and cut my losses
2. Sell on ebay to someone outside of US
3. Sell for parts
If I sell it to someone outside the country, how do I know it will work wherever the buyer is? I have no intention if screwing anyone over and want to make sure they get what they pay for.
How can I protect myself from this happening in the future? Is there a way to get the IMEI numbers of future phones signed over to my name, even if Im not a customer of that phones carrier?
Also, if imeidata.net says its only blacklisted on Tmobile/metro, can it be used on other American networks?
I really appreciate any help with this. Thanks.
One more thing I forgot to mention...when I bought it, it was running android 4.1.2. I downgraded it to 4.1.1 to unlock it and its still running 4.1.1 incase the unlock procedure didnt work and I need to try again. Not sure if this is relevant to the imei issue but Im just putting it out there.
Hi,
If it's blocked, it's blocked. No one can help you with that legally. Sorry.
Whether it works in other carriers.... I would doubt it. Usually blacklists are across all carriers in North America.
And as far as protecting yourself in the future, you can't really. Buying a used phone is always going to be a gamble. Nothing you can do about that except try to buy from a reputable source or individual.
Good luck!
