Normal battery drainage overnight? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How much battery is expected to be drained overnight normaly(7hrs)? With wifi /3g turned off.

I get 2% with wifi on. IF... Facebook doesn't get any notifications. Otherwise it can be up to 5%
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

I get 1% per night. I get all the notifications. Sync is all on except gmail.

Forgot to mention, i have led blinker installed turning off led at night time so that may cause me extra drain if notifications are received
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

I get about 0.4percent drain per hour on standby.
Most stuff is off. (Location, BT, G now, etc.)

if not using, and on lte(100% of the time, no WiFi)(nothing turned off but NFC and WiFi), I lose about a percent every 4-5 hours. but my phone sleeps great, and none of those Facebook type apps installed.

what is draining battery the most? if google play services, update all motorola and google apps, discharge, turn off, charge and turn on
Another post that goes "I will not give you any information, but heeeelp!!".
At least post a screenshot of your battery usage (Settings -> Battery). Also, if you´re a gamer, don´t expect more than those 3 hours of screen-on-time. Those ppl who get 5 hours or more usually just do some lightweight browsing, take a picture here and there, and so on...
What's considered a good battery life for this phone?

What is causing the device stay Awake?

Hi folks, I need some help in here.
I've used Amplify to deal with wakelocks, alarms and services. Everything seems to be in order as I configured it. But yet I see awake time in Batterbatterystats. Can anyone help me figure out which process is causing the awake time?
Screenshoots are attached.
Thanks
I don't see any problem on your device. 33% awake = 28% screen on + rest 5% push notifications, sincronizations, facebook, etc... it sounds reasonable, don't think so?
Enviado desde mi SM-T520 usando Tapatalk 2
I had same problem b4. The Android OS keep staying awake all the time and causing battery drain. They flashed stock rom few times till everything back to normal.
BBS includes screen on time in total awake time. You're looking very good actually. I usually see awake at roughly 150% of screen on.

SOT time with battery saver on.... Wow!

As the title stated, turning on battery saver for over 90% of the time since the phone has been unplugged has yielded some awesome screen on time! At least it's impressive to me!
No need for battery saver to achieve that kind of sot
I get 5+ hours sot easily with Frankenclark kernel and Lionheart governor

I'm debating on whether or not to root this device, it's been since my note 2 since I've done it... I'm jealous though!
Chris
It's easy to root and very harmless. 5-6 hrs of SOT isn't difficult at all over only 12 hrs off the charge. With rooting and using a custom kernel, 7-8 hrs over a 12 hour period is rather plausible. I can squeeze 6.5-7 in 1.5-2 days off a charge, but that's only achievable if you root your device.

The Frankenclark kernel is great, but I haven't started messing with the governors yet. How is the performance with the Lionheart one, and is that on the CPU?
I had the exact opposite experience with Frankenclark. First day I installed it was great. Performance improved, battery life was better. The next 3 days I had awful kernel wakelocks completely killing my battery because my phone could not deep sleep. My performance was also awful, and my phone kept freezing when I was using Google Maps, and I had to restart it about 4 times in one car ride. I didn't modify a single setting on my phone or the kernel, all I did was install the kernel. No one seemed able to help me, so I just restored back to the stock kernel, and my battery life and performance are back to normal.
Anyway, I'm normally only about to get 2-3 hours of SOT with this phone, with a day of use. I have Verizon and good signal where I live. 2-3 hours is decent, but nowhere near as amazing as other people are able to achieve.
Turn off the phone and see how long it lasts then ?

Got 9 hours without battery saver. Lol.
You also had your screen left on even when you weren't using the phone. CPU/GPU use was basically nil. Battery saver and the like wouldn't make a difference, cause your use wasn't typical to the majority of other people.

Well the battery saver kicks the A57 big cores completely, and limits the 4 A53s to 787MHz in most scenarios with bursts of 1.2GHz.

I wonder what is the impact on the camera... If you have to take a lot af photo during one day and no power....
So stupid question. If I have battery saver on, I saw that it says stuff won't sync. So does that mean items such as instagram or facebook will have to be done manually?
Will SMS/MMS still come through as normal? That's what I need to know. The other stuff I can just open the app, its not a big deal there.

Sync in this context are the Google + other account things you find in Settings -> Accounts. Instagram and Facebook use Google Cloud Messenger (GCM), and those won't be affected. When they say sync is disabled, things like Keep and Google Contacts won't be updated in the background, so battery saver won't really affect your incoming notifications or SMS/MMS.

Battery Life

So guys, how's your battery treating you? I'm get average Battery life with 3.5 Hrs SOT with alot of Android System Drain even when phone is just idle it loses 0.5 to 1% every hour

i also got high android-system battery drain. i hope this will be fixed in the next update.
Mine is quite good so far. Easily get through 2 full days with 6+h of SoT. But I disabled alot of background stuff like health tracking etc. But android system is definitely using too much power on mine as well.
Btw just got an OTA update today. Version nr. ending in ......136 now.

Eva-L09, I haven't rooted yet but there are quite a few apps that you can disable/uninstall without root.
And Google services can be an issue too. I've read that wifi/bt scanning should be disabled in marshmallow. You can find them in the Google location settings in the advanced menu.
This is how it looks like for me after a full day (see attachment).
So far my battery last about 2 days, and SOT times are just under 6 hour when i looked the last time. Im very pleased with the battery
Got 5 hours

battery drain in flightmode
Hello
My P9 dropped from 100% to 30% in 8hours, over night.
- phone was fresh rebootet before
- in flightmode
- fingerprint options off
- display always off
something from the system/launcher/default apps is draining the battery.
Phone is new, original System, i just added a handful of apps like whatsapp, telegram and so on and the design for non rounded icons.
Greetings and thanks for any idea
I've lost around 15 percent overnight as well
Facebook running in the background a lot seems suspect though.
Overall battery life seems pretty good though
Although I have no idea why the chart is always so squashed to one side :/

Also getting two days here
Night time the drain is almost zero which is nice to see when I wake.

So what are you saying, I'm laying?
Sent from my EVA-L19 using XDA-Developers mobile app
8 hours would be possible with extremely good signals and low brightness I would think. Good SOT, I'm normally at about 5 isch but then I've also have most apps running after the screen has gone of.

Battery problems

Hi guys, I've just bought a Huawei watch 2 sport LTE and I really like it. Only problem is that the battery lasts not even a full day and I have it always on airplane mode, sometimes I turn on the Bluetooth and the AOD off. In the battery information i see that the OS takes up to the 30% while screen and other thing not even 7% each. What should I do? Maybe a factory reset??
Inviato dal mio VKY-L09 utilizzando Tapatalk
What functions do you use? Do you use the LTE and\gps regularly? Also, do you use the power saving mode?
Hi
some various informations from my watch 2 LTE, if can help you ...
> system is around 25 to 30 % at the end of the day for me too... normal
> display always ON + LTE (4G) always ON i have about 10 hours, if i force in 3G, around 13 hours and about 14 hours... this with 2 or 3 calls and about 5 to ten notifications
> with wifi auto (as i have wifi on my work) + LTE auto, i easily get 16h / 20h
> GPS is never activated except for sport, and for me , 2 or 3 h sport needs a complete charge before to be sure... but i think it can resist 6H minimum
exemple of this day : i take my watch at 100% at 7h00 AM, 3G auto and wifi auto. my phone is connected to wifi at my house and my watch is connected to wifi at my work. As i'm in auto mode, data go threw wifi and cellular still activated for call. it's 12h00 and my battery is 67% : i only receive 2 SMS and 3 what'sapp notifi.
Problem solved guys. I had the NFC on and it seems to drain a lot lol. Disabled and from 5:30 am now is 78%

Yeah I also noticed this. I don't use NFC at all so I disabled it and I can now get almost 2 days out of the watch.
