what is draining battery the most? if google play services, update all motorola and google apps, discharge, turn off, charge and turn on

Another post that goes "I will not give you any information, but heeeelp!!".
At least post a screenshot of your battery usage (Settings -> Battery). Also, if you´re a gamer, don´t expect more than those 3 hours of screen-on-time. Those ppl who get 5 hours or more usually just do some lightweight browsing, take a picture here and there, and so on...

What's considered a good battery life for this phone?

Battery Drain During Standby

My Nexus 5 16Gb is draining my battery to 50% during standby after use.
After charging at 100% I would wake up with my phone less than 50%.
Checked battery issues and it says that WiFi is draining the battery.
Any ideas?
I have tried turning wifi off, factory reset, and its stock. Got it a few days ago.
SUGGESTIONS WILL HELP!

Please post a screenshot of the Battery Usage section of your phone if you get a chance.
You may want to Factory Flash a whole new stock image. There isn't much to dissect right now cause there isn't much information provided.
Including screenshots of your battery usage would be helpful =) But I guess for starters I would go into Settings > Wi-Fi > Advanced Wi-Fi and uncheck "Scanning always available". This will prevent your device from constantly scanning for available networks, which it would do even if you turned wifi off.
That's pretty significant battery drain, so your problems sound worse than just that.

It only happens during standby, during regular use there is no odd drainage of the battery. I'll post a screenshot soon! Thanks so far for the help

Then it's I guess a app, which is holding the phone awake, so it can't go into deepsleep.

It may be a cause. It may also be Wifi Scanning feature within the phone as stated earlier. I am not quite sure with this situation. I'd watch your app usage with a third party battery stats app such as GSam Battery Monitor. It could be possible wakelocks.

Battery Drain For KitKat 4.4.2

Anyone encountered battery draining after updated to KitKat XXUENA6 via software update

Think it just needs a couple of battery cycles to even itself out.

I'm getting some decent battery life - about 20% more per day, for my average usage (ending the day around 65%), than stock (rooted). I'm running Omega v7.1.
As suggested, give it a few cycles.

yes, I have,
I found it's because the EMail sync, if I disabled mail sync battery life is better.
I have problem with my android system, it's drain more battery than my screen on.
I just installed BBS, Gsam Battery Monitor, and Watchdog but I can't get the infromation what did android system do with my battery
Anyone can help me ?
Since 4.4.2, leaving my phone overnight would drain 0% battery (or sometimes, very rarely, 1%).
I'm using Greenify (I Greenify everything except WhatsApp and Nova Launcher) and on a typical school day I can end up with between 50%-60% of battery.
The more draining things I disabled include Google's location reporting service and always-on WiFi scanning. Perhaps you may check
Battery life is really bad , not as good as it used to be , certainly not as good as my Stock Note 2 was!!!!!!!... please any suggestions?
Nothing works, tried all the tips around here (except for rooting), before kitkat (on jelly bean mj7) I used to have that annoying android os bug, when I received kitkat, the bug was resolved but got replaced by another unexplaicable drain by "android system" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
" android system " and " media " drain are too Damn high... 2 hard resets didn't even help at all.... And I'm on the gsm only mode with gps off all the time.......
I'm really getting fed up with Samsung and their crap software , this is my third note device and the most buggy one... and it's really getting ridiculous ...
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
Cheers.
All in necessary bloatware disabled. Sync on. Olways with wifi in home or 3g out. Locations disabled. Amazing battery life .

Hmm are you on ORO? I'm from bucharest too but let's talk English here
Anyway mine today seems stabilised. Android system is the second one now but still kinda high...
I'm on NC2 now. I have an unbranded phone and i tried all firmwares from sammobile, some with full wipe and still have battery drain. I even began to get rid of some apps but i don't think it is app related. I had exatly the same apps on 4.3 with much better battery life.
Having horrible battery life with my Note 3 after the update. The android system shows up using 50%.... It's been 4 hrs off the charger and I'm already down to 70% battery life. Just horrible.
I have a question for everyone who's suffering from the battery drain in KitKat and who seem to have Android System at the top of the list constantly:
Do you by any chance have a service called gsiff_daemon as a major cause for battery drain? You should be able to check this with Better Battery Stats or Gsam Battery Monitor apps.
I'm just trying to find out something and I could be wrong but it would be good to hear from people who have a draining battery.

Moto X play Battery life after Marshmallow Update

I am really excited for upgrading my x play to marshmallow 6.0 from lollipop but after using it a while i am facing very less battery backup on marshmallow as compared to lollipop I merely get 3 hours of Screen On time and the battery last for 15-16 hours on normal usage. Is anyone else facing this problem !!
if you are rooted , try amplify and greenify, it helps a lot. you could also try to edit doze settings to make the device sleep faster than google intended.
mine Sot was reduced after MM, so i started tweaking doze and installed Greenify+Amlipfy. Now i get approx 50min-1hr SOT per 10%. i am not a heavy user, i do lots of browsing and whatsapp on data and i get around 6 hours SOT from 100-40%..never have drained the whole battery ..i guess it'll go beyond 10hour.[as battery saver kicks in at 15%].

if you need good battery then you have to cut down core functions according to your use.
I need the phone for whatapp and browsing so I turned off pretty much everything else like app auto-update I don't need Google to search every 30min if a new version is available, turned off NFC when I am not using.
@Himalaya saxena are you on stock rom or which one ? Check battery usage in System / Battery menu and report it. If you want people trying to help you please be more accurate and provide some detailed information and evidence.

NFC only uses little power. I keep it on all the time and still manage to get 6-7 hours SOT for every full charge
bluetooth is using extremely small amount of battery, too
it has LE profiles, so no need to turn it off, if someone is wondering about that
It seems there are quite few people with battery issues around... My phone lasts around 16hrs too, with everything pretty much turned off and very moderate use. No games, no videos, no music, no Facebook, no IMs. Just some Chrome, phone calls etc. My 2 year old Nexus 5 would last just as much, which is kinda laughable, given battery, SoC and age difference...

by going into
settings > battery and then clicking the three dots on top right > battery optimisation
Check that are apps getting optimised.
Also one more thing, By going to
Security > apps with usage access (at bottom) > Turn off the usage access of the apps there (would be play store and play services)
Do click the three dots on top right and touch the show system and another app named "motocareint" would show up. Turn it's usage access off also.
After doing all this, charge your device to 100 percent and then use normally till it hits 10 percent. Then share your battery stats.

Here's another issue: Roughly one hour after unplugging, used it at home, within WiFi range. Only Chrome and Tapatalk, 45mins SOT. 9% battery missing, but only 3% showing up here.
Edit: With time, the gap between actual battery status, and per-app usage stats gets bigger and bigger. Here's @ 70%, with app usage only giving 19% altogether.

Eva-L09, I haven't rooted yet but there are quite a few apps that you can disable/uninstall without root.
And Google services can be an issue too. I've read that wifi/bt scanning should be disabled in marshmallow. You can find them in the Google location settings in the advanced menu.
This is how it looks like for me after a full day (see attachment).
So far my battery last about 2 days, and SOT times are just under 6 hour when i looked the last time. Im very pleased with the battery

battery drain in flightmode
Hello
My P9 dropped from 100% to 30% in 8hours, over night.
- phone was fresh rebootet before
- in flightmode
- fingerprint options off
- display always off
something from the system/launcher/default apps is draining the battery.
Phone is new, original System, i just added a handful of apps like whatsapp, telegram and so on and the design for non rounded icons.
Greetings and thanks for any idea
I've lost around 15 percent overnight as well
Facebook running in the background a lot seems suspect though.
Overall battery life seems pretty good though
Although I have no idea why the chart is always so squashed to one side :/

Screen on time

It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Xiaomi Mi 9 before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
So far, so good.
Excellent battery life with 3.300 mAh - First charge!
7,5 hours SOT and 31 hours standby - playing some games, Instagram, music over spotify, ...
Second charge - a little bit less battery life, because of poor network signal at my work
22% left and 4,7 hours SOT, 39 hours standby - bad network signal at work, most surfing with chrome, Instagram, hearing music over spotify, ...
Hi can you confirm SoT in hours you get from single charge?

Now, in last charge I had exactly 7h SOT and 37h standby with heavy usuage and bad network (WiFi, LTE, E ...)
Sometimes I get very good SOT about 7h and sometimes only 5h with 35h standby.
From tomorrow I get VoLTE and VoWiFi - I think the battery stats will be better, when I only turn on WiFi @ work and disable mobile connection.
For me it's quite average, 7-8h sot.

exactly same result here, also first charge.. but now in real life (when moving, different wifis, 3g) it got pretty bad.
- some suspect bluetooth (just turned it off for 1.5hr, and battery stayed completely flat with ETA 6days... hmm we will see)
- some suspect office wifi (which normally poses as a battery saver, also getting bad standby there)
- some suspect EU version 28 (new version will come in 2 days)
all is premature now, will find out how to improve. Some short tests show potential of 6 to 10 days of pure wifi standby (just like 6T), discount some wakelocks and maintenances, and small SOT, would be good for 2days of operation. Someone please make a proper kernel!

I have similar observations, while on mixed mode, I get around 5h sot. This looks like an idle battery drain issue, because if longer I stay with screen on the better the sot result is shaping. I have currently 2h 15m of sot and 82% battery remaining, brilliant result, but for most of the discharged 18% the screen was on

yep, it's terrible so far even with Naptime and Servicely, and GMS disabler, the only available hacks on nonexisting kernel modification.
11.5hr runtime, 3hours SOT... 25% left. Pretty bad, hardly one day.. Thats why i kept my 6T still configured in case i give up. It used to greet me with 75% after the day...

Disconnected from charger yesterday evening. I have disabled all connectivity for night (only LTE was on) to see self discharge and it ate only 2% (from 76% to 74%) during all night. Hi guys, thinking about official Xiaomi ROMs, do you recommend Beta ROM over Stable ROM?
Coming from a LG G6 this phone has really great battery life.
On my G6 I charged overnight and in the evening the battery was almost empty again.
Now on the Mi9 I only used Wireless charging (the slow one) and never needed a full battery the last 5 days:

Testing in 1hr blocks. Bluetooth off no impact. Wakelock kernel no impact. Naptime, Servicely no impact. Office wifi no impact. Home wifi helps. Already got a 1%/hr one hour block.
Time to real-time record what's happening. I see some maintenance windows during deep doze that burn battery -20%/hr in few minutes. Some Xiaomi horror might be happening in the background. But still outside home the situation is bad.
