Would this recovery be compatible with official ota? From what I've seen or read it is necessary to return to stock recovery or else...sorry if a dumb question
Sent from my RAZR HD using XDA Free mobile app
If you are asking if you can take the ota with a custom recovery installed, the answer is no.

Yes that was the gist...but how come when I return to my backup stock 4.1.2 before cwm 6.0.4.9 when I would check for firmware updates (stock) the message was along the lines of not recognized unable at this time whilst now it says phone is up to date...as if on stock recovery?
Sent from my RAZR HD using XDA Free mobile app
I can't explain that. The updater acts screwy some times for no good reason.

You may be able to actually. Brainmaster made a flashable cwm it doesn't work for me sadly. It may work for you though. Give it a shot
I'd post a link but I'm on tapatalk. Search the nexus development forum.

If u use this method instead of using the LG support tool to upgrade to KitKat, You can keep root, but no recovery yet. You'll have rooted kitkat but wont be able to flash other Roms, Kernels etc for now.
Im assuming you already on Kitkat, in order to get root you will have to flash Jelly Bean KDZ, you can Download from here http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=36
Then follow this guide Of course, just download a Jelly Bean .kdz from here (http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=36) and follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476.
after you are back on JB firmware, Root and Flash Recovery and follow this guide to Update to KK http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2664652
Like i said before, Just Root No recovery for KK Yet.

May be means i'm sure for 1000%. Just flash stock recovery before perofrming the OTA update and it will totally work for you
Sorry for the noobish question that I should know, but it's been a while since I've used an HD.
I picked up a used HD on 9.18.94. Can I simply sideload 183.46.10 and run the bootloader unlock? My first goal is the bootloader then I can flash root and unlock the radios so my wife can use it on ATT

Yep, just upgrade straight to .10, unlock, root, and you'll be good.

It didn't work. I flashed to stock, took the update, and tried it, but it was a no go.
