It is what it is, we've all been there. To answer your question, no, there is currently no way to root the kit kat G2.
Nope. not yet.
Thank you guys very much

If u use this method instead of using the LG support tool to upgrade to KitKat, You can keep root, but no recovery yet. You'll have rooted kitkat but wont be able to flash other Roms, Kernels etc for now.
Im assuming you already on Kitkat, in order to get root you will have to flash Jelly Bean KDZ, you can Download from here http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=36
Then follow this guide Of course, just download a Jelly Bean .kdz from here (http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=36) and follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476.
after you are back on JB firmware, Root and Flash Recovery and follow this guide to Update to KK http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2664652
Like i said before, Just Root No recovery for KK Yet.
Thread closed.

I don't know of a way to root without a pc. Casual and Odin both require a pc

I think you are out of luck if you are on a verizon device because they come with a locked bootloader. If it was for another carrier it is possible.

This MAY work on Verizon, but not ENTIRELY sure. The guy who made the thread did say it worked on Sprint and T-Mobile S3's. But this post is all that I know of that provides a rooting from phone method.

Mobile Odin requires you to already have root access to function, so unfortunately he couldn't use Mobile Odin to flash a rooted stock ROM in this case.

Hey guys after using P500 for 2+ years, i shifted to a Nexus 4
Now i want to flash stock ROM and recovery in my P500 because i plan on selling it...these guides seem too old now...
So can somebody help me??
Or provide a link for a working, updated guide
Thanx alot in advance
EDIT: After all researches finally KDZ updater worked!
People say its very risky but to be honest everytime only KDZ updater worked for me after trying other methods

flash oldest custom rom that you find and update after with LG Suport Tool to stock 2.2.2 , that will make your phone stock withaout custom recovery or anything else, download from LG site that tool, and 2.2 or 2.2.1 roms you can find in development, something really old
or downgrade to old bb and upgrade with same LG Suport Tool
I think is safest way

Thanks
there's a post asking the same question literally right below this one called "[Q] Motoroot after OTA update?" that has the answer.

I used PwnMyMoto by installing it before taking the update AFTER a fxz with save data using house of moto.
I used RockMyMoto just an hour ago and it worked fine.

Would this recovery be compatible with official ota? From what I've seen or read it is necessary to return to stock recovery or else...sorry if a dumb question

If you are asking if you can take the ota with a custom recovery installed, the answer is no.

Yes that was the gist...but how come when I return to my backup stock 4.1.2 before cwm 6.0.4.9 when I would check for firmware updates (stock) the message was along the lines of not recognized unable at this time whilst now it says phone is up to date...as if on stock recovery?
Sent from my RAZR HD using XDA Free mobile app
I can't explain that. The updater acts screwy some times for no good reason.
