Sorry if this has already been covered but is there a way to root after todays Ota update?
Thanks
there's a post asking the same question literally right below this one called "[Q] Motoroot after OTA update?" that has the answer.
I used motoroot. No problem.

I used PwnMyMoto by installing it before taking the update AFTER a fxz with save data using house of moto.
I used RockMyMoto just an hour ago and it worked fine.

Also used RockMyMoto yesterday with no issues

Your rooted dude don't worry the apk deletes itself once it roots. If you want install a Root checker and make sure.
Nope, it says I'm not rooted :/ is there any other work around?

Start of fresh first try factory reset if its a no go then fxz that will definitely work. Then install the apk and get root.
Make sure your using the right apk.. I ran into this issue because I was directed to the moto x apk which was patched

I haven't used fxz or rsd since my bionic. Like 5 phones ago. But that should work? I've seen a few different fxz files for the maxx. I'm assuming that since I'm in 12.7.7 I should stick with that one? Or are there advantages with the other file?

Just letting you know, it's not called Ultra Maxx. It's either Ultra or Maxx not both. Just a heads up

Hey guys,
I thought I'd make a new separate thread for the OTA update instead of the LG Tool method. OTA just started going out to phones. I was wondering:
Anyone get the OTA yet? And if you did use the OTA, did you root before and keep your root?
Thanks everyone!
As far as ive read you wont revive a OTA if your rooted, You would have too un-root/flash stock, Update then re-root.

Not talking about the LG Tool. Talking about the OTA Update
the thread is about tmobile kitkat, not the tool. just so happens it available via tool first

Did you keep root after the update?
Sent from my LG-D801 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I did the OTA and lost root. I'm not sure if it would make any difference, but I did not check the setting in SuperSU to maintain root after OTA. I'm not sure if this would work anyway.

Sometimes it takes a few days
Still no OTA. What gives?
I got my notification just last night. So it should slowly get to everyone.
Note 1: It would not install until I charged my phone.
Note 2: I still got the notification for my T-Mobile D801 even though I'm unlocked and on H2O.

I still do not have an update available. I check everyday and it says system is up to date...
I know the nexus just got the 4.4.3. Waiting for when it's available for the moto G. But I've read the 4.4.3 has some difficulty or cause problems with root. If this is the case will I lose root if I update. Or should I go back to stock do the update and root again.
I appreciate any info...

4.4.3 and up is going to keep having root problems so i would wait and stick with 4.4.2 and Wait till its safe.
I intend to do that. Until I hear otherwise. Thanks for the reply.

Just spoke to a dude who updated to 4.4.3 on nexus. And has root. Supposedly says no issues. Idk ?

thats a nexus device, that does not mean your Moto G will be safe.

yeah i just saw it myself, sadly i have the Verizon Variant of the moto x and only the T-mobile moto x got the update xD.
My concern is it safe to get the ota while I have root. Or if I gotta go back to stock and have to root again. I thought I had read that the 4.4.3 was gonna have difficulty with root.

not sure yet, since every model of the Moto G can have its boot-loader unlocked, im sure that 4.4.3 will be rooted very soon even with the difficulties if the OTA removes your root, i would just go with it.
Im rooted on my 12.2 Lte 907A via Towelroot.. Is there a link with instructions to remove root and let me take the Update?
Much appreciated. .
I flashed back to stock firmware and realized no Lollipop for 907A! Lol
