[Q] Corporate Exchange (ActiveSync) not working on Nexus 5 with 4.4.4. How to solve? - General Questions and Answers

Hi Guys,
I just received a Nexus 5, which i want to use for work.
Before this, I have used a S2 where Exchange ActiveSync worked perfectly.
Which means:
- email synchronization fully working
- outlook phonebook fully working
- calender/agenda synchronization fully working
I am trying to achieve the same with my new N5, but it does not give me the option to add a 'Exchange Activesync' account. I have been able to set up an account thats called 'Business'. It also says it synchronizes all three subjects, but it doesn't.
Only email is working for me.
I have no synchronized phonebook, as well as an synchronized agenda/calender.
I am currently using MailWise to sync my agenda and phonebook, but its not perfect imo.
Do you guys have any experience with setting up a corporate exchange (outlook) account on a N5? Any tips how to solve my problems?
Let me know, thanks in advance!

Exchange questions

I am new to Android. Have been a longtime WindowsMobile user. The Captivate has a menu to synchronize with exchange including mail, contacts and calenders. I got mail to work, but contacts and calender do not synch. I would assume it is officially supported since it is in the menu. Has anybody else got it to work, meaning can you pull contacts and calender from your exchange account down to your phone?
Yes, mine works fine. Is auto synch off under menu/synch?

Mine is working fine too. I went in and disabled the Contact synchronization and it looked like everything (mail, calendar, contacts) is all enabled by default. I think I remember seeing the settings when I initially set it up too. Go into your calendar and then into the settings and make sure it is displaying your exchange calendar. Same thing with the contacts.
Mine works great. In fact a little tooooo good. I have it syncing with my Google contacts and my exchange contacts. . .
One note. The client on the Captivate is not a full exchange client. That's apparently an Android V2.2 feature. That means there are some features that worked on my BB and my Nokia E72 that don't work on the Captivate. The most notable, and irratating is any http link embedded into an appointment note is treated as straight text. So if you have an airlines check in appointment, or link to a map - you can't just click on it and have a browser take you to the link. . . .or at least I haven't figure out how to make that work yet.
ok. The whole Activesync exchange seems very screwy on Android. I deleted exchange account and re-added it. Now, I can see and synch all my contacts, but I only get some of my calender items. I downloaded TouchDown, and via Touchdown I can sync my email but I do not see contacts or calender. I am pretty techsavvy, so this just baffles me.
Is it possible to look up a name against the GAL/company address book with the stock android client when composing an email message?
I have been able to "Lookup" emails through the GAL. Simply type a name in the To Field, hit search. You are taken to a new screen where you can do a lookup. One note though. I have not seen FULL integration with the GAL. For instance, our company has Email, Direct Dial, Fax, Cell, Address all entered in the AD. This makes it easy to look up phone numbers. Cant seem to get that to work in the phone search
having issues sending appointments from phone
I'm using Exchange and stock email client. I've tried to send meetings to people in my GAL, but they never receive the invite. Anyone else having the issue?\
This is a known issue with the captivate. Hopefully there is a fix on the way. It was supposed to work seemlessly out of the box, but there are some problems.

Problem with GMail Contacts sync

Hi all;
I own a Lumia 800. I added by GMail account as usual and mail sync is fine. My contacts are all synced too but most contacts are missing phone numbers. I checked with GMail and confirmed that they have phone numbers set-up. Does anyone have an idea what might be the problem?
Thanks!
This was because telephone numbers were in the "Other" field I moved them to "Mobile", "Home" and "Work" fields as appropriate and that fixed the problem!
As google is good service, supported on more phones, but I had problems with contacts as well couple years ago. And I looked for alternative service Exchange support include Outlook setup. I found one service and it's really works perfect.
well why not try for an example: Office365? I use rackspace service. And I haven't any problems than with google.

Hotmail-Exchange Issue

Hey all
Yesterday I bought a HTC One S. I set up my Homtail Account via Exchange AS and the following Problem occurs. When adding an event to the calendar the phone starts syncing and eats up all the battery but it isn't able to write to that calendar on the server so that i can see it at my pc.
If i delete the account and add a hotmail account under Accounts & Synchronizing the calendar syncing works but I am not able to add or edit Hotmail Contacts..
This functions are working on my old Desire Z with 2.3 and on my Transformer 101 without any problems. Told that the guys from HTC Support -> They told me to exchange the phone. ridiculous...and absolutely not a qualyfied answer
So it can't be a Server issue... WTF is wrong? has anyone an idea? Has anyone else this problems?
Thx in advance.

no sync calendar possible?

Hi Folks,
i am comming from various HTC mobiles and now wanted to try an tablet.
After a few days of research I came to the Acer A700 and orderd me one.
First everything was fine - the I synced the tablet with Outlook 2010 using myPhoneExplorer. I do not want to use google for syncing. There is too many data in my contacts and calendar I do not want show up in whatsoever net.
Contacts working fine, the Calendar sync was also successful, but I found no way to display the contacs. I was alwas asked for a google account.
Does anyone here has an idea how I can get a sync calender working on this device? I tried pocket informant and the build in calender to test. I reset the tab and tried to create a new appointment - choosing a local calender - it was not possible. the question for a google account again.
Any other ideas? Otherwise the Tab will go back on monday.
Best Regards
Umqi
Not sure. I use the Touchdown app for all of my Exchange sync, because I didn't want ANY mixing of my work information with my personal. Works great.

Hi,
I tried it with my google account, but without syncing outlook to google no appointments are shown in the A700 Calender nor with any other calendar app. I think it will go back to amazon tomorrow.

[Q] BUG Android 4.4 - Nexus 5 - Exchange account - Contacts problem

I got my Nexus 5 couple of days ago, set up my corporate Exchange account all OK, except contacts/people.
In Exchange if have 745 Contacts, People on the Nexus 5 shows over 2100 entries, including ALL email address I have communication with but never created a contact for them. I checked settings (what contacts to display, ...), restarts, but nothing helps.
This problem seems to be linked to the outlook suggested contact feature. But as I am running Office 2013, this feature does not officially exist anymore. Checked Outlook help and any documentation I could find but no help for these non existing contacts either.
Same problem for me and here:
