orignal thread here
Why CWM ? Why not a pre-rooted firmware which will not void warranty?
Ans : CWM has many more functionality than stock recovery ! Rooting means to playing around with your device. If some thing goes wrong it you have to flash the whole firmware again instead, backup your ROM through CWM and if something goes wrong restore your backup AS SIMPLE AS THAT !
All you have to do is follow my instructions :
STEP 1 :
-Download and setup ADB drivers for your device
can be found here Drivers !
STEP 2 :
-Download the recovery from ---> Link
-Download odin 3 Link
-Turn of your device and go to odin mode [ Vol down + power + home button (all at the same time) ] release it when you see GT-i9060 logo
-Press vol up to confirm
STEP 3 :
-Now that you are in odin mode connect your device via usb cable !
-Now open Odin3 3.09 that you have downloaded.
-If there is a pop-up like Installing ADB drivers let it get finished it is usually updates !!!!
-Make sure the COM : xx (xx is usb port number it can be any number so dont worry about it,just verify COM is lit up)
-Select the recovery (Link in STEP 2) ! Now select AP and browse to where you have .tar file and select it
MAKE SURE U UNTICK THE AUTO-REBOOT BUTTON
-Click Start
ONCE IT SAYS PASS ...REMOVE THE BATTERY ...THEN RE-INSERT THE BATTERY AND BOOT INTO RECOVERY USING VOL UP + HOME + POWER BUTTON
HOW TO ROOT THE DEVICE :
-Download SuperSu (obviously the latest one) from here ------> Click here !
-Copy that to externel sdcard or internal
-Power off your device and press vol up + power + home button (all at once)
-Select install zip from sdcard --->choose zip from sdcard ---> scroll down and flash UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.xx.zip (latest is 2.0)
Done ! And you are ready to go

I was thinking that this device would have died without any mod or rom, but then you guys appeared from nowhere and made this CWM!
Everything works, but that giant graphical glitch is annoying xD
P.S: After this CWM the Grand Neo/Lite could get a Cyanogenmod?

[GUIDE] Acer Liquid E1 All-In-One Guide [UPDATED 03- 07- 2013]

Acer Liquid E1 All in One thread; Rooting, Recovery and Kernel, Roms and Unbricking
Disclaimer
We are Not responsible if you brick your device or lose your data. Rooting is done at own risk and we are not the ones to blame for messing up your phone. When you rooted this phone, you lost your warranty. Vache and Paugustin provided a way to restore your device to stock in case you mess up, and I've made a tutorial on that which you can find at the beginning of this thread.
If you have any question, feel free to reply, or leave a PM. I am always open for suggestions!
Of course, if you get stuck somewhere in the process, tell us! but don't forget to tell us exactly what you did, what the screen shows, and what files you used.

The user iulian1421 has been kind enough to provice me with a zipped Nandroid backup. This means that we now have acces to both dual-sim, and single-sim firmwares. If you want to give it a try, flash the CWM recovery, unzip this file and place it in SD card. apply the backup through CWM restore option.

So, you want to root the phone? Alright let's get you started!
1. Download this file. This is a .zip I made which contains all the files you need to root the phone. It might be confusing at first, but you'll be doing this with your eyes closed after 2 times.
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?fxqckmx2jx6b573
2. Extract the files into a folder you like (mine is Desktop/ROOT, so that i cant forget where it is)
3. Shut down your phone, pull out the battery. next, plug it into your pc with the battery still out. open device manager, and youll see
* unknown device
*mtk 57*** preloader with (!) triangle.
4. Manually install the drivers for that device which you can find in the folder you extracted. Be sure to install the drivers provided for your OS!!!
5. After installing, put the battery back in your phone and unplug it for now.
The actual rooting process
1. Open the folder > Flash tool > run Flash_Tool.exe
2. Click scatter-loading, and select the MT6577_emmc_aa66_Acer_AV051_V360_1.003.00_WW_GEN1.txt file. (you can find that in the scatter folder)
3. From the list, check the mark at Recovery. (All other marks should be UNCHECKED)
4. Double click recovery, and select recoE1-superuser.img from the Images folder.
5. Click download, and confirm the popup with yes.
6. With the power of the phone still off, connect it to usb
7. Next you will see the progress bar turn red, then yellow, and if it's finished correctly you will see a green popup ring appear in the flash tool.
8. remove the usb cable from the phone, and boot into recovery mode (volume + and power buttons)
9. Go to the recovery, and you will be presented an android triangle! dont worry, just press volume + once.
11. Now highlight the reboot system now, and you're all done
12. Give a thanks, and subscribe to this thread. If i get the permissions from them I will update this thread with the new creations of Vache, and Paugustin, as well as my own.
#Update 2#
Vache has released a CWM (v 6.0.2.8) onto his website. Flash this one like you would when flashing any boot img (see tutorial for that)
http://www.vache-android.com/Smartphones/Liquid%20E1/recovery/CWM-6.0.2.8_Acer-E1.img
Release TWRP recovery, the swipe to action is still not working, waiting for a fix!
http://www.vache-android.com/Smartphones/Liquid%20E1/recovery/TWRP-2.3.2.3_Acer-E1.img
Give this guy a big thanks for the awesome work he is doing!!!
Revert back to stock rom/ Unbrick device
Unbricking the phone or revert back to stock rom
This guide is written with the intention of being as noob friendly as possible. I know some things around here are a bit hard to understand, so I wrote it like this just so that everyone could understand.
First of all, you want to download and install the drivers from the acer site:
http://www.acer.nl/ac/nl/NL/content/drivers
* you might need to look up your phone model again here, which is V360 (you can type that into the model name bar and it will redirect you to the correct
page).
Once downloaded you want to download these 2 files:
Here is the ROM : https://truck.it/p/NSKm45nxjh
Here is ADB+ Fastboot: http://d-h.st/592
Once you've got both files downloaded (main rom is 600mb), unzip the rom first. You will get 2 folders:
* Database_Acer_AV051_V360_1.003.00_WW_GEN1
* Images
The Images folder is what we need most. You want to extract all contents from the ADB/fastboot zip file into the Images folder.
After you've done that (and assuming the drivers you installed are working correctly, a reboot of your pc might be required for that), shut down the phone.
Plug your phone into your pc with a USB cable (pretty obvious right?)
Hold the Volume + and Power buttons until it vibrates and shows you a nice little recovery menu. From here you need to pick the 'Fastboot'.
(Volume + is scrolling through menus, and volume down is selecting!!!)
After you've done that, you are shown the acer logo, with a small line of text underneath it which you can't completely read. Don't worry, its normal and if
the drivers are installed correctly it'll work anyways.
Now that you have set everything up you're ready to flash everything back to stock!
Once inside the folder containing the img files and adb/fastboot and their .dll files, you need to open a cmd in that window:
shift+ right mouse button > open command window here.
in the cmd screen now type this:
* fastboot flash boot boot.img - wait until it's finished. you will get an error or completed message in
the cmd screen.
* fastboot flash recovery recovery.img - should be done in a few seconds.
* fastboot flash system system.img - this will take long, because as you can see its over 600mb, don't give
up, first time it took me about 3 minutes to finish.
After flashing the system.img is done, wait for 10 seconds, then pull out the usb cable. Remove the battery from the phone, reinstert it, and boot it as usual. This should have flahsed your phone back to the stock JB Acer provided, including all apps and bugs that came with it.
great
i have rooted Acer Liquid E1, great, i waiting for next users happy we need big community for this big phone THX
Re: [GUIDE] Acer Liquid E1 All-In-One Guide
It's growing and I'm sure we'll see some nice stuff for this phone
Envoyé depuis mon V360 avec Tapatalk
atm I'm playing around with build.prop tweaks until Vache brings us init.d support and a flashable zip file for roms, I cannot make one. I also have succesfully installed Bravia Engine from sony, looks great!
Hi I did exactly as instructed and got all steps done right but I am not rooted.. Any idea why Thanks
Just tell us what happened. If you're not rooted it means something did not work and that is probably because you missed something. Check all the steps and try again. If you have an error message tell us what and when.

Hmm, can you check up on the drivers? what does it show when you plug in the phone while the power is off?
I have no idea wether you're new to rooting etc or not, but have you checked these 2?
ADB Debugging on: settings > options for developers> turn on adb debugging
unknown source on: settings > security > turn on unknown sources
I believe those 2 settings are your problem

Thanks for the reply man. I figured it out. I had to go to recovery and then reboot from there. One I did that I am rooted. Now hopefully some custom rom will appear.
hehe good to know! I was wondering if I had maybe forgotten something in the tutorial.. if you're a benchmark believer, im making a rom as of now, got the antutu scores up from +-2400 to -+2800.
Edit: I've gotten it up to 3k, quite proud of that!
I still can't make a real flashable rom because there is no fully functional CWM for this device yet.
I want to make a camera mod atm, but there is no media_profiles.xml present...anyone knows where its at or what the right file is?

----- SHORT DECLARATION - ODIN3 -----
PDA refers to the build version of the firmware
Phone refers to the baseband/modem version
CSC is the consumer software customisation and is specific to geographical region and carriers. It contains the software packages specific to that region, carrier branding and also APN settings for data connection, MMS etc for your service provider.
CSC has nothing to do with what languages the firmware supports and it will not add keyboard language support either.
.PIT refers to the partition information table you only need it if you screw up your partition table or if the firmware specifically requires it because of a change in the partition table layout. It's very likely you may never have to use this.
If the package only contains one .tar archive then it will have everything, pda+phone+csc, in the one file.
If it has multiple .tar archive then:
• The .tar with modem in the name is the phone/baseband bit of the package
• .tar with csc/multi-csc in the name is the csc bit of the package
• .tar with code/PDA in the name is the PDA part of the firmware package
If this is the case you will need to put these .tar archives in the specific areas of Odin to flash the update

Otherwise I will have to install the CWM, but I don't like it.

Yeah I choosed the same.
I only suggest you to add at step #6 of the flashing tut the link to the Samsung USB drivers as it's a common thing people might forget to install and therefore the device wouldn't be detected when connecting by USB.
Now thanks to you I can finally back everything up with Titanium and flash another ROM (the NEE one)!
Remember to setup a Beer button so that we can offer you one.

Same problem here. No ext sd card access here with Phils.
Do you remove the sd before going into CWM? Format is exFAT.
Thanks!

I actually had my contacts saved on the Google account and you can do the same.
Save the SMS with SMS Backup & Restore.
Everything else can be moved to your computer and back.
I then rooted the phone, installed Titanium Backup and went on with a complete apps, data and settings backup.
Even after flashing the NEE firmware everything (but root and CWM) was there without the need of a restore.

I haven't checked full functionality apart from Backup, Restore and ZIP installations (from sideload and external sd card). These functions are working well.
It would be very nice if you or someone else can help in making this recovery bug free.

Agree, but didn't get time to improve over it. Hope to start it soon... Meanwhile, you are free to fork and modify the code as per your requirement. Please update if you get it working fine.
@trivalent the main problem I think is the reset time, once it took 1 hour for. We now have custom ROMs for our device, so wipe data is now more impotent. Try to fix this when you'll got time

[Q] Newer Android on Slider SL101

Hello everyone,
First of all, let me excuse if I make mistakes in english, because I'm french. Thanks a lot.
Thanks for these who could help me in this issue and who would take of their time to help me.
My position is this one :
________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Device bought in France (Europe)
Device : Slider SL101
Android Version : 3.2.1
Core Version : 2.6.36.3 [email protected] #1
Build number : HTK75.WW_epad-8.6.6.19-20111101
MobileDock Version : SL101-0202
Device is near Vanilla (I did install Superuser on it -i think-, but that's all, no other changes have been done).
When I start my device with POWER + VOL DOWN :
Black screen with Eee Pad logo in the middle + Asus logo at the bottom + NVidia logo at the bottom + white sentences at the top left of the screen telling
"Android ww_epad-user bootloader < e> released by "WW_epad-8.6.6.19-20111101.
Checking for android ota recovery
Checking for RCK... press key <VOL_UP> in 5 sec to enter RCK"
=> here, 2 solutions : either I press VOL_UP (A.), or I do nothing (B.)
A. if I press VOL_UP
A new sentence appears under the previous "Booting recovery kernel image".
Then, a new screen appears named "ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.1.3" => in the middle of the screen is a rolling gear with a hat on it
B. if I do nothing
A new screen appears : black screen with two logos in the middle -a "Wipe Data" logo + a "Android" logo which is surrounded by a green light + sentences at the top left of the screen telling "OS will cold boot in 10 secs if the selected mode is not confirmed. Press <VOL_DOWN> to change mode, Press <VOL_UP> to confirm mode."
________________________________________________________________________________________________________
My questions are :
________________________________________________________________________________________________________
1. What are the names of theses different screens, so i can use the right vocabulary ? Why do we use them ? Brievely.
2. Is my device able to be on a newer Android version (4.4.2 ? or other ?) ? If yes, what do I need to do ?
3. Is there a way I can uninstall all "Default" applications installed on the device "AmazonKindle", "My Library", "MyNet" for example ?
3. Do you need more informations to answer my questions 1, 2 & 3 ? ^^ If yes, tell me and i'll try to give them
________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Thanks a LOT to all of you !
Bye
Hey there!
1. Situation A is called RECOVERY, in your case you have a costume one - a good start already!
I have no idea how situation B is called...
2. Yep, it is able to run 4.4.2, just like mine! Actually, I'm on it right now
What you are need to do is:
A. Download and install TWRP Recovery by sidneyk. Reboot to TWRP
B. Download and install KatKiss 4.4.2 ROM and gapps by timduru , and install them, duh!
C. Download and install the SL compatibility pack V2, install after rebooting to the ROM.
Install all these in advance!
Visit here to find the links.
If you are a noob, and you don't really know how to install... Don't be shy! Just say!
There are plenty of guides here, and if you need help - just ask
3. Once you have KitKat on your slider, PUFF! All these apps will be gone!
Hey ! First of all, thanks for your time to help ! Really !
Now, to answer to your answer ^^ :
1. OK
2. Good news for 4.4.2

Whoops, I meant download, not install, it was late that time
As I get home I'll post how to
HOW TO
Here is how to update your slider:
I recommend you to read a bit on costume recoveries and ROMs
Backup your data! (you can do it with titanium backup)
Download 2.6.3.9 TWRP Recovery ZIP by sidneyk here.
Download KatKiss 4.4.2 ROM, GApps and the SL compatibility pack V2 ZIPs by timduru from here.
Place all these ZIPs on a micro SD card.
Enter to recovery mod, install from the SD card the TWRP ZIP. Reboot to recovery. It should be now TWRP...
WIPE-->advanced wipe-->check cache, dalvik cache, data and SYSTEM.
Install KatKiss 4.4.2 ROM and gapps. Wipe cache & dalvik cache. Reboot system and wait.
After booting successfully to the ROM, power off your SL, boot it to recovery.
Install the SL comp. pack, wipe cache & dalvik cache, reboot system.
That's all
And don't forget:
/* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in the ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
*/

Rebooting in recovery (for most recoveries) can be done by pressing the power button and volume down at the same time when your pad is off. If installed TWRP you do the same, but do an additional volume up press after you pressed Power button + volume down.
@DK5: some ppl dont know how to go in recovery or how to activate it.

He mentioned in the OP he was able to enter recovery mode. He asked what is the term for the situation and I answered it is called recovery mode. Therefore, he should know how to get into recovery mode.
Moreover, using the internet is not harmful if something is unclear...

1. I downloaded all 3 ZIPs from the links you gave me (KatKiss-4.4.2_019.zip ; KatKiss-4.4.2_019-sl101-compat-V2.zip ; signed_twrp-2.6.3.9_sl101).
2. I put them onto a microSD Samsung SD HC Class (2) 8Gb in FAT32 -- they are all 3 on the racine (i:\) and are not renamed.
3. my µSD in the Slider, I "power + vol_down" then go to clockworkmod recovery.
4. I choose "install zip from sdcard" => then "choose zip from sdcard"
5. text appears at the bottom telling
"E:unknown volume for path [/sdcard/]
E:Can't mount /sdcard/"
So, i cannot install any of the ZIPs.
What did I do wrong ? Or what do I need to do now ?
hello
do you have an idea ?
i really need your help :/

Have a look at Frederuco's guide HERE. Now his guide applies to the TF101 and you have the slider but the previous post told you which ROM to download. Also, you have a rooted device, so all you have to do is flash the TWRP, reboot and boot into recovery and then flash the ROM and GAPPS.
A previous post advised you to put the TWRP on the Slider (not on the SD card) which may help, as the Slider s formatted to use an internal SD card (e.g. its memory) and an external SD card which maybe Clockwork Mod can't see, so putting the TWRP flash on the slider could be your answer. Once TWRP is installed, it can see both the internal and the external storage so you can install the ROM and GAPPS.
