We are Not responsible if you brick your device or lose your data. Rooting is done at own risk and we are not the ones to blame for messing up your phone. When you rooted this phone, you lost your warranty. Vache and Paugustin provided a way to restore your device to stock in case you mess up, and I've made a tutorial on that which you can find at the beginning of this thread.
If you have any question, feel free to reply, or leave a PM. I am always open for suggestions!
Of course, if you get stuck somewhere in the process, tell us! but don't forget to tell us exactly what you did, what the screen shows, and what files you used.

The user iulian1421 has been kind enough to provice me with a zipped Nandroid backup. This means that we now have acces to both dual-sim, and single-sim firmwares. If you want to give it a try, flash the CWM recovery, unzip this file and place it in SD card. apply the backup through CWM restore option.

Rooting
Rooting
So, you want to root the phone? Alright let's get you started!
1. Download this file. This is a .zip I made which contains all the files you need to root the phone. It might be confusing at first, but you'll be doing this with your eyes closed after 2 times.
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?fxqckmx2jx6b573
2. Extract the files into a folder you like (mine is Desktop/ROOT, so that i cant forget where it is)
3. Shut down your phone, pull out the battery. next, plug it into your pc with the battery still out. open device manager, and youll see
* unknown device
*mtk 57*** preloader with (!) triangle.
4. Manually install the drivers for that device which you can find in the folder you extracted. Be sure to install the drivers provided for your OS!!!
5. After installing, put the battery back in your phone and unplug it for now.
The actual rooting process
1. Open the folder > Flash tool > run Flash_Tool.exe
2. Click scatter-loading, and select the MT6577_emmc_aa66_Acer_AV051_V360_1.003.00_WW_GEN1.txt file. (you can find that in the scatter folder)
3. From the list, check the mark at Recovery. (All other marks should be UNCHECKED)
4. Double click recovery, and select recoE1-superuser.img from the Images folder.
5. Click download, and confirm the popup with yes.
6. With the power of the phone still off, connect it to usb
7. Next you will see the progress bar turn red, then yellow, and if it's finished correctly you will see a green popup ring appear in the flash tool.
8. remove the usb cable from the phone, and boot into recovery mode (volume + and power buttons)
9. Go to the recovery, and you will be presented an android triangle! dont worry, just press volume + once.
11. Now highlight the reboot system now, and you're all done
12. Give a thanks, and subscribe to this thread. If i get the permissions from them I will update this thread with the new creations of Vache, and Paugustin, as well as my own.
#Update 2#
Vache has released a CWM (v 6.0.2.8) onto his website. Flash this one like you would when flashing any boot img (see tutorial for that)
http://www.vache-android.com/Smartphones/Liquid%20E1/recovery/CWM-6.0.2.8_Acer-E1.img
Release TWRP recovery, the swipe to action is still not working, waiting for a fix!

Give this guy a big thanks for the awesome work he is doing!!!

Revert back to stock rom/ Unbrick device
Unbricking the phone or revert back to stock rom
This guide is written with the intention of being as noob friendly as possible. I know some things around here are a bit hard to understand, so I wrote it like this just so that everyone could understand.
First of all, you want to download and install the drivers from the acer site:
http://www.acer.nl/ac/nl/NL/content/drivers
* you might need to look up your phone model again here, which is V360 (you can type that into the model name bar and it will redirect you to the correct
page).
Once downloaded you want to download these 2 files:
Here is the ROM : https://truck.it/p/NSKm45nxjh
Here is ADB+ Fastboot: http://d-h.st/592
Once you've got both files downloaded (main rom is 600mb), unzip the rom first. You will get 2 folders:
* Database_Acer_AV051_V360_1.003.00_WW_GEN1
* Images
The Images folder is what we need most. You want to extract all contents from the ADB/fastboot zip file into the Images folder.
After you've done that (and assuming the drivers you installed are working correctly, a reboot of your pc might be required for that), shut down the phone.
Plug your phone into your pc with a USB cable (pretty obvious right?)
Hold the Volume + and Power buttons until it vibrates and shows you a nice little recovery menu. From here you need to pick the 'Fastboot'.
(Volume + is scrolling through menus, and volume down is selecting!!!)
After you've done that, you are shown the acer logo, with a small line of text underneath it which you can't completely read. Don't worry, its normal and if
the drivers are installed correctly it'll work anyways.
Now that you have set everything up you're ready to flash everything back to stock!
Once inside the folder containing the img files and adb/fastboot and their .dll files, you need to open a cmd in that window:
shift+ right mouse button > open command window here.
in the cmd screen now type this:
* fastboot flash boot boot.img - wait until it's finished. you will get an error or completed message in
the cmd screen.
* fastboot flash recovery recovery.img - should be done in a few seconds.
* fastboot flash system system.img - this will take long, because as you can see its over 600mb, don't give
up, first time it took me about 3 minutes to finish.
After flashing the system.img is done, wait for 10 seconds, then pull out the usb cable. Remove the battery from the phone, reinstert it, and boot it as usual. This should have flahsed your phone back to the stock JB Acer provided, including all apps and bugs that came with it.

great
i have rooted Acer Liquid E1, great, i waiting for next users happy we need big community for this big phone THX

Re: [GUIDE] Acer Liquid E1 All-In-One Guide
It's growing and I'm sure we'll see some nice stuff for this phone
Envoyé depuis mon V360 avec Tapatalk

atm I'm playing around with build.prop tweaks until Vache brings us init.d support and a flashable zip file for roms, I cannot make one. I also have succesfully installed Bravia Engine from sony, looks great!

Hi I did exactly as instructed and got all steps done right but I am not rooted.. Any idea why Thanks

Just tell us what happened. If you're not rooted it means something did not work and that is probably because you missed something. Check all the steps and try again. If you have an error message tell us what and when.

Hmm, can you check up on the drivers? what does it show when you plug in the phone while the power is off?
I have no idea wether you're new to rooting etc or not, but have you checked these 2?
ADB Debugging on: settings > options for developers> turn on adb debugging
unknown source on: settings > security > turn on unknown sources
I believe those 2 settings are your problem

Thanks for the reply man. I figured it out. I had to go to recovery and then reboot from there. One I did that I am rooted. Now hopefully some custom rom will appear.

hehe good to know! I was wondering if I had maybe forgotten something in the tutorial.. if you're a benchmark believer, im making a rom as of now, got the antutu scores up from +-2400 to -+2800.
Edit: I've gotten it up to 3k, quite proud of that!
I still can't make a real flashable rom because there is no fully functional CWM for this device yet.

I want to make a camera mod atm, but there is no media_profiles.xml present...anyone knows where its at or what the right file is?

It's on Vache ftp : http://vache-android.com/Smartphones/Liquid E1/recovery/CWM-6.0.2.8_Acer-E1.img
To flash you just have to use the exact same method used for rooting. Just use this .img instead of the rooting recovery.img

Re: [GUIDE] Acer Liquid E1 All-In-One Guide
Ah yes ive downloaded that one alteady. I cant flash any images every time i get an error or it says completed but nothing is changed in system...
Sent from my V360 using xda app-developers app

It happened to me once, the flashing went ok but the recovery would not start at all. I flashed from another computer and it went OK.

INSTALLING CWM on ZOPO ZP900 LEADER

This method successfully installs the CWM on the phone. CWM version supplied by ZOPO does not work. Use the CWM posted in the second link
I am a still learning and not a developer !
Hi All ZOPO ZP900 Leader Owners,
This is a guide for Installing Clock Work Mod Recovery Image on ZOPO ZP900 Leader Phone. Most of the owners of this fantastic phone would have desperately tried like me to install CWM on this phone (some may have found success). ZOPO does gives an option to order the phone pre-rooted however they do not install CWM ....or for that matter there is no Stock Recovery on the phone !!!. Start the phone with Power + Volume Up button pressed and your presented with an image of sick Android lying down with a Red triangle coming out of his opened stomach
DONT TRY TO USE ROM MANAGER APP TO INSTALL CWM, THIS WILL ONLY BRICK YOUR PHONE !
So after breaking my head for couple of days, searching the net, downloading stuff I have successfully installed CWM !
So here are the steps !.
What you need
1. ZOPO ZP900 Leader phone
2. Download Fully working English CWM from here http://www.4shared.com/file/16vuWyiU/recovery.html. The one posted in Zopo website does not work.
3. Download latest SP Flash Tool for MTK6577 from here http://www.4shared.com/zip/Xgc3G_hB/SP_Flash_Tool_v3122200.html
4. Download the latest Stock ICS ROM for ZP900 from Zopo website link http://www.4shared.com/rar/hGY2ahbu/MP_MT77_root_en_play_fix_zp900.html
5. Download MTK6577 Driver from Zopo website http://www.4shared.com/zip/YXlLFoLm/6577driver_install_3_steps.html
Installation Steps
1. Unzip and Install the USB drivers on your Windows PC using the MTK 6577 Driver Zip file. There will be 3 folders named First Step, Second Step & Third Step. Open First Step install the MTK driver MSI file. Post completion open Second Step, click on ClickInstall Driver, it will automatically install the USB driver. Press Exit after installation (Win 7 may give error that installation was incorrect, just ignore)
Repeat the same for folder Third Step
Connect your phone switched off and battery removed using USB cable. Windows will recognize and install the MTK drivers for your phone (any free COM ports) will be configured. Disconnect the phone. Put the battery back but do not switch on the phone
2.Extract the latest ROM folder from downloaded ICS ROM. You will get 2 folders
database
MP_MT77_h958_zp900_zwx_ics_20120912-155136_TSZ_PC
Open the second folder (MP_MT77***). This is the folder that has all the image files. You will find recovery.img file. This is original file. You can either rename it or keep a back up and delete it.
3. Copy the new CWM recovery.img file that you downloaded from ZOPO website in this folder. Rename it to be recovery.img
4. Extract and run SP flash Tool.exe (the one with Blue image icon)
5.Click on Options, USB Mode will be checked, DA Download All will be checked, in the sub options Speed will be Checked High Speed, Battery select With Battery. Come to the main Application window
6. Click on Scatter-loading button which is on the right side below Downloading Agent. A window will open. Browse to your extracted ICS ROM folder, click on folder MP_MT77****. By default you will have only one map file of name MT6577_Android_scatter_emmc. Select this
7. The flash tool will populate the Map file on the application window. You will see multiple Entries such as
PRELOADER
DSP_BL
MBR
etc etc. Each will have a check box which is by default checked.
8. UNCHECK all entries EXCEPT FOR "RECOVERY". Leave Recovery checked.
9. Now click on "Download" on the Application or press F9 on keyboard. A warning message will pop up. Press YES
10. You will see in the status bar below "Searching"
11. Connect your phone (switched off and with battery inserted) via the USB cable.
12. Flash tool will do its stuff. First a red progress bar, then a count down, a quick yellow progress bar and final window showing Green Circle.
If you get this the Congrats You have flashed CWM !
Check by unplugging the phone and re-starting it with Power+Volume Up button Pressed. The Phone will boot into CWM !.
Enjoy !
Warning - Please follow the instructions. Don't mess around with anything else. Not responsible if you do anything else and brick your device !
In case you get any other error on SP Flash Tool, then recheck your MTK driver installation. Try on another PC.
Now I hope this opens the door for many other things !
Additional Info -
Install PDAnet from here http://www.junefabrics.com/android/download.php or Snappea from www.snappea.com to make your device get recognized when connected to the computer. Install this with your phone switched on, this software installs the necessary drivers for the phone, post which you can use flash tool.

The CWM from taiwan101 for the 9300+ seems to be working fine. I was able to install .zip file from SD card. However the CWM is in Taiwanese, so if anyone can provide the CWM in English, thanks in advance
link for 9300+ CWM http://d01.megashares.com/dl/KicT315...M_Recovery.rar
UPDATE - Finally got a full working English CWM for ZOPO extracted from Mod ROM posted thanks to Kyrie1965. Tested and everything is working. Download from here http://www.4shared.com/file/16vuWyiU/recovery.html

Not sure if the issue is with CWM version supplied by ZOPO, need to try with other/older versions of CWM.
Please feel free to post links of CWM that works

Check your device drivers USB driver has not been installed properly. I faced this issue and after multiple attempts of reinstall of USB drivers the flash tool started working properly
Also you can try installing PDAnet from here http://www.junefabrics.com/android/download.php

Note Connect the phone to flash tool first without battery, in options select with battery, press download after selecting the required file, when it says searching unplug the phone put battery back, dont switch on, plus back the usb. The flash tool should load the required file.

It will flash the entire ROM again. My guide was specifically for flashing only the CWM and not the entire ROM. I wanted to keep the Stock rom intact as it came from ZOPO.
Word of caution, I am yet top try flashing the complete ROM so if you are trying ensure that your have taken a backup via CWM (if already flashed) of your existing full working ROM before attempting anything. Also flash only ZOPO Stock or customised ROMs,

I found custom recovery from here:
http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shareid=271693&uk=973327405
I think it is in Chinese, I have not installed it yet.
Does anyone knows that is it possible to build new recovery by using http://builder.clockworkmod.com/ and does it change the language to English?
I tried that tool by using Chinese recovery.img. It created new recovery.img successfully without any errors, but I have not tried it yet. Is it safe to use? I used builder just with recovery.img but without recovery.fstab because I wasn't able to find it.
What if the device fails to boot? I do have original firmware on .zip file, but not sure is it possible to boot and install original firmware from SD card.
ZTE stock recovery is actually in english !!!!

My bad didnt check beforehand, it seems the stock recovery mode on the zte v985 is actually in english which allows to flash roms from zip files placed on the root directory of the micro sd card.
To enter ZTE Recovery Mode do as follows: Firstly power off device then Hold down volume down key and then hold down power key, when the zte logo appears on screen let go of the power key but still keep the volume down key held you will enter zte recovery mode which will allow you to wipe data, update from micro sd card etc.
Hope this helps.

4.1.2 update was released today. Here's the direct link for download:
http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shareid=3082485858&uk=3442944625
It's recommended to update first from B03 to B04 and then do the 4.1.2 update. Here's the link for 4.0.4 B04:
http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shareid=3921007642&uk=3945654451
How to do 4.1 update. Remember to backup first!:
1. Download V985_update_4.1.2.7z upgrade package file and unzip the file. Under the folders there's update.zip.
2. Copy update.zip to the external SD card root directory
3. Enter the "Settings" -> "System Software Updates" -> "Storage card upgrade." and uncheck "retain user data upgrade". If this is checked, it will cause some issues and the phone might not boot.
4.Click the OK button to upgrade. Upgrade process starts automatically after a few seconds.

How to root ZTE V985 4.1.2 Jelly Bean
Hi, it seems that ZTE has brought a new android version to the V985 called 222200B1329ZTE V985V1.0.0B04.
I have a V985 with android 4.0.4 version B03 installed, rooted and equipped with Gapps. I can only upgrade into stock which removes my root and Gapps.
Can anyone tell me how to root the V985V1.0.0B04 android 4.1.2 version?
Thanks
I was able to compile and run fully working clockworkmode recovery from CM10.1 stream,
I was also able to compile and port CM10.1 to this device. Currently thinking if we could port CM10.2 to this device.

Phone won't start!
I have installed 4.1.2 update on my v985, but it was draining my battery very fast, i tried to install back to B04, but it was not working, i couldn't install. Then i tried to install Clockwork Recovery and now phone won't start, iz just turns on ZTE logo and stops!
Help please!! Is there anyway to unbrick my phone?
Phone is something like read only
I have a v985. I received it rooted, but a lot of message was in Chinese an it did not download my contacts from gmail.
I've flashed all ROMs that I found, finaly I'm stuck in "enterprise_V985_signed_101613_1017.zip".
Google play does not start. It just flashes up.
I have a Chinese application search app, where I can install apps. It seems to be installed, but the app is nowhere.
I can boot into recovery, but I can't wipe or format at all. Nothing.
I can run "install zip", it loads the zip, the commands are started, it writes that it is OK, but does not change the phone at all.
The strand that I can make photo, it is saved, I can copy files to phone and to sd card...
What can be the problem?
hello there! It seems to be quiet here, did someone solve the problem? I have also this zte version, all things is working correctly except the battery, the current rom is ics 4.0.4 v985v1.0.0B03, the android system consumes itself about 50% of battery everyday even when the phone is in standby, I would like replace the kernel with a new one, if someone has some ideas I'm very interested. :good:

[GUIDE][STEPbySTEP] Root/unroot BLU Pure XL (and clones)

Totally new guide! Simple step by step toutorial
It took us a while to get root on our devices. Hopefully we did it! Now we can enjoy benefits of having rooted device (like Xposed Modules etc). We have working TWRP recovery which allows us to backup your phone, flash SuperSU binaries, mods and custom ROMs (actually we are working on it). First: read whole post, then download necessary files and read it again. This guide will allow you to root your BLU Pure XL/Allview X2 Soul Xtreme/Gionee Elife E8/Condor Allure A100 and other clones I don't know.
If you don't know what is 'root' & TWRP nor understand the whole idea of rooting your phone this post (or even most of the XDA community) is not for you! Read everything carefully.

I would help you if I knew the problem. As for now for me you don't have any problem. Your post is useless in this form.
You have to learn how to tell the error/problem/bug before you post anything on any forum.
If you want me to help you solving this situation send me private message or edit your post and tell the problem in the right form*, please.
Cheers,
bemolx
*Right form looks like:
What's the problem?
Did you check whole thread before posting?
If possible give me logcat/shown error
Make sure you read main post carefully
What you will need to get it working:
ADB and Fastboot drivers
SuperSU flashable zip archive
TWRP Recovery image
PC & your phone
BUT!
Code:
Your warranty is now void.
Everything you're doing with your devices is on your own!
We're not responsible for any damage on your phone!
If you don't understand what's root it's good time to STOP!
Now we're starting!
Look carefully on files you need (I've mentioned them above) and scroll down for download links. Download every file we need.
Note:
At the bottom of this post you'll find two versions of TWRP: 3.1.0-x and 2.8.6.0. Let me explain the difference:
TWRP v3.1.0-x: this version has been compiled from scratch & made by me. It is the newest available recovery version at the moment and without bugs. More info in the thread linked below.
TWRP v2.8.6.0: this version has been ported from Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 & made by @acheron1502. It's not the newest but working one. It has some little bugs. More info in the thread linked below.
I suggest you to download v3.1.0-x because it will get further support by me. But it is your choice now.
Setting up our workstation
I hope you have already downloaded everything we need.
On your Desktop create a new folder (for example "root").
Find package with ADB drivers, open it and extract to the "root" folder.
Now find TWRP image and place it also in our "root" folder. This image should look like this:
Code:
twrp-3.1.0-0-x2xtreme.img
or
Code:
BLU_PURE_XL_TWRP.img
Let's rename it like this (see below) to make our rooting process easier
Code:
twrp.img
Now we're setting up your phone
Open 'Settings' application. Scroll down to 'About phone'. Click about seven times on 'Build number'. You should see: "You are now developer".
Now find 'Developer options', then 'Enable USB Debugging' and simply enable it.
Connect your phone to the PC. On PC: find SuperSU.zip and copy it on your phone.
OMG!!! Flashing!!!
Okay... That's the most important step.
Turn off your phone. Press 'power' & 'vol +' together. This key combo should boot up your phone into stock recovery mode.
Scroll down using 'vol -' to 'Reboot bootloader' and confirm pressing 'power'. This will boot your phone into Fastboot mode.
On PC: open "root" folder. Open Command Prompt here (LShift + right mouse click -> 'open cmd here')
In the Command Prompt type:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
This command will flash TWRP recovery on you phone.
After flashing process is done reboot you phone into TWRP by pressing 'vol +' and 'power'. When you see bootlogo get your finger from the 'power' button. You will see TWRP logo. You can unplug USB cable now.
We're almost here!
Now you should see TWRP main page same like in the screenshots I've attached to this post.
We must flash SuperSU binaries to get rooted phone. To do this press 'Install' button.
You should see list of files/folders on your phone. Navigate to the SU.zip and choose it by clicking on it.
TWRP will ask you for permission to flash that zip package. To allow it to do so swipe to the right slider on the bottom of the screen. Now SuperSU is installing.
After installation process is done press 'Reboot system now' button. Your device will reboot into your system.
Done!!!
And there you go! Your device should be now rooted with TWRP recovery installed. Check if your phone is rooted correctly by installing ROOT Checker. To make rebooting process much easier and faster you can download Quick Reboot.
Xposed Modules
There's an option to install Xposed Modules as I mentioned at the top of this post. Not every module is working but you can try it and let us know what's working.
To get it working you need:
Xposed Installer Alpha App (allows you to download and manage modules)
Xposed SDK zip (the most important thing)
Original thread with those files is linked below.
Note:
It's important what version of SDK you are downloading. Our device has 64-bit ARM MediaTek chipset so it is arm64 and it's running lollipop 5.1 ROM which equals sdk22. By that meaning the SDK zip you should download looks pretty much the same like this:
Code:
xposed-v80-sdk22-arm64.zip
Installing
Place both files on your phone's storage and reboot to recovery. Press 'Install' and navigate to sdk.zip. Choose it, confirm installation - when it's done reboot into system. Now use any file browser and find XposedInstaller.apk and install it.
Now you can download any module you want. Further instructions in post linked below.
How to unroot
Most of you would like to flash stock OTA etc.
To do this you have to have stock recovery installed.
First open SuperSU app, then scroll down and look for 'Clear/unroot' option. Choose it and follow on-screen instructions.
Then download stock recovery image (downloads for Elife E8 and Allure A100 will be available when someone provide me a link). Place it the 'root' folder (or just in the same directory with fastboot drivers etc.). Rename downloaded file into recovery.img.
Method 1 - using Fastboot
Reboot phone into bootloader mode. Open terminal in the 'root' folder and type
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Now reboot into system by pressing power button for a while.
Method 2 - using TWRP
Copy downloaded recovery onto your phone's storage. Reboot phone into recovery mode. Press 'Install', then change from installing zips to installing imgs (bottom right button). Navigate to downloaded recovery file and choose it. Confirm installation. After that reboot into system.
You should be now unrooted and able to flash OTA.

Since your thread is more of a HOW TO root, would it be OK if you move this into GENERAL and field all the rooting process questions there?
I will start a new Dev Thread for TWRP and all TWRP related development issues.
You can then use that new thread for all your download links.

Please use this link for TWRP in your guide.

Let's keep the development thread about this phone (Blu Pure XL) and other phones with the exact same base maker/model (ie. Gionee E8, Allview x2 Extreme). If you are asking about gaining root for a different phone and need some Mind-share from this group of people due to the other phone having a similar SOC, the best way is to open a new thread in the Q&A Section or the General Section, but I think you should wait until the phone is released first IMHO.

Guys,
1) THANKS for GREAT work!
2) Please provide more CLEAR / ACCURATE details on how to do this, because NOOBs (including myself) get very confused.
a) Link to adb / fastboot drives. Saying "they are in Google development section means nothing"
b) How do I "Reboot phone into fastboot/bootloader mode"??
This would help so many people root without bricking the phone.
Thank you once again!

[GUIDE]RCA Maven Pro (RCT6213W87DK), Bootloader, Custom Recoveries, Firmware and Root

SPECIAL KNO'DIS: This Guide has been changed to refelct proper installation for both types of Maven Pro tablets, be Sure to follow the appropriate guide.
For the purpose of this guide, I'll assume you already have working ADB and Fastboot on your PC, if not, you'll need to set that up first. This guide doesn't cover installation of ether of those. If you're looking for the guide to the Viking Pro (RCT6303W87DK), go here.
KNO'DIS: I, OR ANYONE ELSE AT XDA, WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR "BRICKING" YOUR TABLET!! IF YOU MANAGE TO MAKE A BRICK, DUE TO YOUR "FUN-DA-MENTAL" INABILITY TO READ, GO BUILD A BBQ PIT WITH IT!! (Or ask for help, there's a lot of friendly people around here)
So, without further ado, lets get started. First, you'll need to know which version of firmware your device is running, this can be found in 2 different ways. From a running device go to: Settings/About tablet and look at the Build number. Or you can boot into stock recovery and the firmware version will be at the top left of the screen.
You should see something like the following, and note the 2nd number after the 2nd "V":
Code:
RCT6213W87DK-ANDROID5.0-V37-V1.9.30 <-- This is x.9.x version of firmware
or
RCT6213W87DK-ANDROID5.0-V68-V1.12.30-B <-- This is x.12.x version of firmware
Now that you know which firmware you have, follow the approriate guide below. I've broken this post into 2 different sections, as each tablet is just a little bit different.
About the Bootloader
This applies to both versions of firmware and tablet users. Turns out, the booloader doesn't have to be unlocked in order to install a custom recovery or root the device. So there's really no reason to unlock it, and I have removed that portion of this guide.
Installing MTK Preloader Signed Drivers
Drivers located Here
x.9.x Versions
Steps (Windows 8/8.1/10): For step 2 you will have less than five seconds. Preloader mode is only active for a few seconds. So read first!
1- Extract the drivers to the Desktop and open the Device Manager ("right click" on the Start button, select "Device Manager")
2- Plug your tablet in as such: turn off the tablet. Plug in the micro USB on the tablet, the other to the USB port on the PC, now very quickly in the device manager locate the new device and right click on it. For me, it showed up under "Other devices" and read MT65XX.
3- Select "update driver software" then select "browse my computer for driver software" (make sure "Include subfolders" is selected.
4- Click "Browse..." and navigate to where you extracted the driver zip. You "should" be at the following path: Desktop/MTK Preloader Signed Drivers
5- Click on "OK" then "Next". The driver should install at this point. Once that is done, unplug the usb cable from the pc (I find it easier to just keep the micro in the tablet).
x.12.x Versions (Requires Full size Male-to-Male USB Cable)
Steps (Windows 8/8.1/10): For step 2 you will have less than five seconds. Preloader mode is only active for a few seconds. So read first!
1- Extract the drivers to the Desktop and open the Device Manager ("right click" on the Start button, select "Device Manager")
2- Plug your tablet in as such: turn off the tablet. Plug in the full size USB cable to both the tablet and the PC.
3- Plug the micro USB into the tablet, the other to another USB port on the PC, now very quickly in the device manager locate the new device and right click on it. For me, it showed up under "Other devices" and read MT65XX.
4- Select "update driver software" then select "browse my computer for driver software" (make sure "Include subfolders" is selected.
5- Click "Browse..." and navigate to where you extracted the driver zip. You "should" be at the following path: Desktop/MTK Preloader Signed Drivers
6- Click on "OK" then "Next". The driver should install at this point. Once that is done, unplug both USB cables from the PC (I find it easier to just keep them in the tablet).
Installing TWRP
Firmware/TWRP Downloads
Maven x.9.x (Currently Contains: V37-1.9.30 and TWRP)
Maven x.12.x (Currently Contains: V63-V1.12.0-20150802 and V66-1.12.20-B-20150831 Firmware and TWRP)
Special Thanks to: @ShadowCX11 for testing for me.
Be sure you are using the appropriate TWRP for your version of firmware, and do the following:
1- Extract the firmware and the SP Flash Tool to your desktop.
2- Start the SP Flash Tool, and where it says "scatter file loading" click and navigate to the folder where you have the firmware and load the scatter file (depending on device, it could be in the "Images" folder).
3- Once that is done, uncheck everything, and select "recovery" only, from the list, navigate to the TWRP image file and click "Open", then click on the download button.
4- Plug the USB cable(s)* back into your PC. At this point the flash tool will load the recovery to the tablet. DO NOT UNPLUG ANYTHING UNTIL THE FLASH TOOL SHOWS YOU A GREEN CHECK MARK TO INDICATE THAT IT IS DONE, OR YOUR TABLET COULD BE HARD BRICKED AND IRREPARABLE.
5- After you get your check mark, unplug and boot into recovery, hold the Volume + and Power button. When splash screen comes up (the 2 dogs) release the power button.
6- Welcome to TWRP
*Remember, x.12.x requires 2 USB cables to work
ROOT
You can get root by flashing the latest SuperSu zip file located here, be sure to download the flashable zip.
Otherwise, for root, you can use the KingRoot app located here, (get the apk, or "Download for Android") and if you don't want a Chinesse Super User app, you can replace it with the ChainFire SuperSu by going here.
NOTE: This method of replacing KingRoot with SuperSu no longer works properly, and results in a bricked device.

Hello! I've had my Maven Pro for a couple months now and I still haven't rooted it like I have with the rest of my devices. I'd love to do it too, but reviewing your instructions, I found that my version number is way different. V66-V1.12.20-B. will that version patch tool still work for it? is there an update that it's refusing to download? Thanks!
Edit: on top of this, i can't get it to even connect (step 2) with any of my microUSB cables. (they work with my other devices)

Ooh, a v12, sorry friend, lol. Make sure the tablet is off, and be ready with "Device Manager" open, the preloader only shows up for a bit, then it disappears. The patch tool should still work for you, but the TWRP recovery may not. If it doesn't, the CWM recovery will after I modify it, because it's non-touch.
If neither recovery works for you, you can give me a copy of your "boot.img" file, and I can convert TWRP or CWM to work on your tablet. Also, I've changed the guide up top to include other root methods.
If you have any trouble, by all mean, post, and I'll try to help you through it
Regards,
Nepo
EDIT:
A friend found some V12 firmware, and I'll be uploading it soon. I can get a boot.img file from it to make a recovery.
My maven pro is stuck in a bootloop after I rooted now I don't know what to do. I can't even shut it down

You can reflash firmware while it is in a bootloop, I've done this many times. If you have everything set up, drivers, SP Flash Tool, firmware, etc..
Do the following:
1) Startup the Flash Tool and Load your firmware, as described in the OP (be sure to "uncheck" the Preloader)
2) Plug in your micro USB cable to both the PC and the tablet
3) Press and hold the "Reset" button located on the back
4) Click the Download button, then let go of the reset button, it should start flashing the firmware.
If it doesn't the first time, retry steps 3 and 4. I've had it fail the first time before, but work on the second.
Good Luck and let me know how it goes. Also, if the battery is completely drained by the time you read this, just flash firmware normally (again, uncheck the preloader). The tablet has to be powered off to flash it anyway.

So after reflashing my tablet (a Canadian V12 that had V68, and flashed to V66 trying to unlock the boot loader and install CWM), USB doesn't work. The port doesn't output any voltage, and neither does the keyboard connector. The tablet acts like nothing is there, as does the PS3 controller I tried. Also, before, Firmware Update would say there's no updated firmware. Now, it doesn't seem to do anything. I flashed every partition except preloader, MBR and ebr, and the sec partitions. Do I have to reflash again, or is there something else I can do?
On a completely different note, I tried flashing a patched lk.bin, and it failed with an error I don't remember (I had temporary access to a PC).
One more thing that was quite interesting to me. It seems if you reboot into recovery or bootloader from Android (APM+ or root), you're then able to access the recovery with Power + Vol. Up. Is this known, or was it a fluke?

No USB is a new one on me, I wish I had a x.12 version of this tablet to test on (mine's x.9) I'd try a re-flash, this time, do everything but the preloader, the reason for not flashing a preloader is because it sometimes semi-bricks one of these tablets.
Interesting note, there was a guy on the Viking thread (RCT6303W87DK) that flashed CWM without unlocking his bootloader, and everything is working fine for him...
Regards,
Nepo
PS, Power + Vol Up is the standard way to enter recovery on this device (I have the Xposed APM+ apk installed too)

So just a quick question: Is the device /dev/recovery for sure recovery? I want to see if I can just use dd to flash recovery.

Yes, to pull a copy from a running tablet you use dd, and the path is: /dev/recovery
So, I'd do it this way, using adb:
Code:
adb push NAME_OF_RECOVERY.img /data/local/tmp
# Wait for it, then type:
adb shell
#Followed by:
dd if=/data/local/tmp/NAME_OF_RECOVERY.img of=/dev/recovery
#After it finishes:
reboot recovery
Okay, I got CWM installed! Now to see if I can find a way to build TWRP...

Great! Is the CWM in portrait or landscape? You can always try to port the one I built for the x.9's, just unpack stock recovery, unpack TWRP, swap out the prebuilt kernel and repack.

It's in landscape, and works quite well! I just like the touch interface a bit more. I'll try the kernel replacement.

I prefer TWRP as well, that's why I built it
The only reason I don't have one posted for x.12 users is I can't test it. If you get it to work properly, let me know and I'll add it to the OP so others can benefit. :good:
If not, I can do some builds for you to test, if you don't mind. I have the x.12 kernel in my repo

Yeah, I can't figure out how to extract the kernel, because I don't usually have access to a PC. However, I'll take some testing builds if you can make them.
Also, back to the USB issue, a reflash of everything except preloader didn't fix it. However, checking the firmware update now tells me that this is the latest version (which is definitely wrong, since I had v68). It must be an incompatibility between the USA and Canadian variants. If you find a Canadian firm dump, can you send me a link?
---
Hmm, okay.
So I just took a look at the model number on my box, and it's RCT5213W87DKF. That extra letter is what changes this a bit. I'll try seeing what I can dig up in terms of OTA updates, and I'll keep posting about what I find.
---
Okay, so after a few packet captures, I found the tablet makes a GET request to http://tablet12.gyrodock.com:2300/OtaUpdater/android?device=RCT6213W87DK with the User-Agent rk29sdk/4.0, but the server returns a 404 page. When I do this in the browser, however, I get something quite peculiar happen, which interests me. Most of the other places on the site return a Tomcat 404 that has the path in the parenthesis. However, for the OTA URL, it just has empty parenthesis. POST requests to that URL return a 200 OK with no return data, which is also interesting. I'll keep hunting around.
Some people might not have a PC to run flash_tool on, so here's how you can flash recovery/uboot/mbr/ebr2/logo/sec_ro from within Android
I'll use recovery as an example. I'm using a V12 tablet, so steps might be different if you have a V9. I tried to make this guide as revision-agnostic as possible, so correct me if I mess something up.
Root your device. The method I use is KingRoot, because it doesn't require any weird things. You can uninstall KingRoot and flash SuperSU later.
Download a recovery image. Make sure if you have a V12 tablet, you download a recovery image for V12, and a V9 recovery for a V9 tablet, or you'll brick your recovery. I personally prefer TWRP, because it has more features and a nicer UI, but CWM works too.
Get shell access. You can use a terminal emulator.
Type in su, and give the terminal superuser access on your device.
Type in dd if=/sdcard/Download/mavenVY_XXX.img of=/dev/recovery, where Y is 9 or 12, and XXX is CWM or twrp3.0.2. This will flash the recovery image.
Finally, type in reboot recovery. This should reboot into your custom recovery! It might also enable Power + Vol Up access to recovery, however, this hasn't been confirmed.
All the other partitions are similar, just replace the references to recovery images with the respective file names for the raw partition, and /dev/recovery with /dev/[PARTITION]. You can NOT flash the android or usrdata partition while in Android or you'll most likely soft-brick your tablet, however, you can boot into TWRP and go to the terminal and do the flash. You must copy your disk images to /tmp when doing so however, or you'll probably lose the disk image during the flash, effectively causing a brick.
Hope this helps people out!

I've found out that it seems the v12 tablets strictly enforce the checksums of partition images, so flashing a custom recovery or uboot does not work with flashtool.

Nice addition, but all you have to do is disable it in the Checksum.ini file (change the 1 to 0):
Code:
[IsEnableChecksum]
CHECKSUM_SWITCH=0
I did that for the v9 versions, but only uploaded the v12 firmware...

[GUIDE] Rooting Blu Grand M and Install TWRP ( STILL WORKING ON IT )

HOW TO ROOT Blu Grand M
Disclaimer: I hold no responsibility over what happens to your phone during the beginning,in the middle, and after you follow this guide
backup your files, if you don't then you're about to lose em.
(keep in mind, work in progress, sort of... ?, your choice to follow this guide)
DON'T 100% TRUST THIS YET, BECAUSE THERE IS NO CUSTOM ROM OR ANY WAY I KNOW TO ALLOW YOU TO INSTALL STOCK OS AND KEEP BOOTLOADER UNLOCKED AT THE SAME TIME. APOLOGIES. YOU CAN TRY TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT IF YOU WANT. I DON'T HAVE THE DEVICE TO WORK ON THIS.
--start--
Now, before you start. I feel that you need at least a VALID reason to root.
like, why do you want to root? is it for some app that requires root privileges? cause it'd be pretty useless to go
through all this without a proper reason .---. , I'm going to divide the steps into 4 Chapters (hehehe)
also the entire reason why this post exist is because I was helping a friend gain ROOT privileges cause they have an Blu grand M haha..
I don't see that many posts regarding this.. this is just to help people , if you already knew how to root your phone from the beginning then good for you.
Chapter 01: Getting prepared!
Just, WHAT are the things you need to begin rooting exactly???
well(downloads in here aswell):
a computer
a cord for your Blu Grand M
SD card
TWRP recovery for Blu Grand M from Original forum post here , by Laelson , here's a google drive link
SuperSu flashable zip file > http://www.supersu.com/download
make sure the drivers are already installed aswell
ADB > https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
STOCK ROM > https://www.needrombd.com/Rom/blu-grand-m-firmware/
Chapter 02: Getting started!!
enable developer options by going to settings > system > about phone > keep tapping "build number"
enable "usb debugging" and"OEM Unlocking" in developer options
plug phone to PC
open CMD on your computer then do CD <driverletter>:<into ADB folder>
in cmd , type "adb reboot bootloader" and press enter
put .IMG file into same folder as ADB
on CMD do "fastboot oem unlock"
choose YES
your phone is wiped.
Chapter 03: Flashing TWRP and using SP flash
now, with 2nd chapter done. and the IMG file of the recovery is in the same folder adb is inuse the cmd and type "fastboot flash recovery <nameofFILE>.img then reboot to twrp and then POWER OFF , once its off. open SP Flash Tool extract the downloaded STOCK ROM to its own folder and on SP flash tool and select "scatter loading file" and locate the scatter file of the stock rom after that. you should see on the big box that there are alot of things. unckeck "recovery" and click "download" , and wait for it to finish once it is finished unplug and BOOT PHONE INTO RECOVERY
Chapter 04: Flashing SUPERSU and reboot ;D
make sure you put your supersu zip in your sd card or phone storage by now, if not then put it in there first , ok so tap on install and locate SUPERSU zip, flash then reboot ;D
CREDITS
- @Laelson , if no TWRP for Blu Grand M then root isn't going to be on this phone for a while , so thanks
Not confirmed by anyone else but my friend. but try it if you want
My twrp worked Bro?? Congratulations for your tutorial. ?
it's showin internal storage(0mb)...
adb do not working good for my devicve... I download every thing right but when you type
adb oem unlock..... you see ( wait device)... and stop my phone in fastboot mode.... I can not get out from that... when you type ( fastboot devices) no thinge occure ... and you stay in fastboot mode....... I could not get out of it ... I tried several methods and could not .. Just left my phone until it was completely extinguished ... Then I re - shipped it .... It works now .... Maybe work with you ... but never never Succeed with me ..
Will this work with the Blu Grand 5.5 HD as it has the same chipset, processor and GPU? It has a different screen size and resolution
Hi all, I just want to let you know that
* yes, it does work, my friend was able to install it and boot into twrp but so far I have not seen a proper custom ROM for the device I was helping my friend with. so we quit (he eventually got a new google pixel phone anyway)
note: yes, we have installed TWRP and booted into it. but someone has to: make custom rom for device or try to find a way to install STOCK OS and keep bootloader unlocked at the same time. will update OP to warn everyone. sorry.
P.S: sorry for the really late reply, was busy with life.
Hi bro! I tell you that the terminal that I have now, I CANNOT flash anything, it has the BootLoader closed and I can't penetrate or delete it. Any suggestions? Scripts commands do not work, they issue an error message.
