I haven't checked full functionality apart from Backup, Restore and ZIP installations (from sideload and external sd card). These functions are working well.
It would be very nice if you or someone else can help in making this recovery bug free.

Agree, but didn't get time to improve over it. Hope to start it soon... Meanwhile, you are free to fork and modify the code as per your requirement. Please update if you get it working fine.
@trivalent the main problem I think is the reset time, once it took 1 hour for. We now have custom ROMs for our device, so wipe data is now more impotent. Try to fix this when you'll got time

Rooting procedure for SAMSUNG Galaxy Pocket Plus ( GT-S5301 )
WARNING!!! This solution provided as is (with no warranty of any kind). Be careful because the described operations rather dangerous and possibly can brick your device. Author is not responsible for your device damage.
IMPORTANT: Usage of this method will affect the state of the "Custom BIN down" counter in your device. This means that you may have problems with official warranty.
OTHER NOTICES: Solution based on ICS 4.0.4 Russian Stock firmware. It will not affect the data on your device (contacts, files etc.). No wipe\hard reset needed.
Step 1. Getting software
1. Download Odin 3.0.7 here
2. Download modified stock recovery here
3. Download update package for rooting here (downloaded from here Thanks to Phil3759)
4. Install Samsung drivers\kies from this page
P.S. Sorry for ugly file storage solution - google drive. If it will open the zip archive just click "File" menu and click "Download" (or use Ctrl+S combo).
Step 2. Flash the updates
1. Switch off the device. Hold "volume down"+"home" buttons and press power button. When device switch on release the power button but continue to hold volume down and home until Download mode warning appear. Plug in the USB cable and press volume up button to continue. The device will load in ODIN download mode.
2. Run ODIN 3.0.7. Don't change any setting (checkboxes ) - leave them in default state. Your device should appear in "ID:COM" part of the screen as serial device (i.e. "COM38") - if not check if your USB port is functional and Samsung drivers installed correctly.
3. Click on PDA button and chose modified recovery file saved during step 1.2. Don't rename or decompress the file - otherwise it will not work.
Wait until ODIN decompress the package and check the checksums. After it just press START button and wait until the process is over.
4. Copy update package for rooting on SD card and put the card in device's slot.
5. Switch off your device again. Hold "volume up"+"home" buttons and press power button to switch on. Don't release volume up and home until the recovery loaded. Using volume up and volume down buttons navigate to menu item "apply update from external card" and press power button to commit operation. Then navigate to Root_Superuser_3.1.3......zip file and press power button again.
6. Done. Your device should be rooted now. You can check it with various free programs like Root Checker available at Google Play.
You can restore the stock recovery using the same flashing procedure as described above. The stock recovery image is available here
====================
Additional notices:
- I will upload the full stock firmware repacked for ODIN in a couple of days. You can use it to restore your device to default state (except the Custom BIN down counter).
- If the counter really bothering you - just wait a little - I'll upload pre-rooted system partition package which does not affect the counter.
- Do not try just blindly install the CWM or TWRP recovery packages made for another devices. It will not work and can cause some problems because at least one difference is crucial - recovery.fstab file in most of cases will contain wrong information about partitions so you can brick your device. Now I'm working on porting CWM recovery for s5301 and I hope it will not take much time.
Take care

2013-05-27 UPDATE: CWM recovery (GUI issues) ***THIS ONE IS OBSOLETE - USE NEXT SECTION BELOW "UPDATE: Working CWM recovery (GUI problems fixed)"***
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
CWM Recovery for S5301 (coriplus) is now available. Unfortunately there is still an issue with screen resolution but I suppose I'll fix it very soon. Despite an uncomfortable picture those people who needs backup\restore feature urgently can use it right now. Everything seems to be functional but if you discover some issues - please let me know.
1. Fakeflash zip image is here. Use it from previousely flashed Hacked Stock recovery: pure stock recovery will not load it.
To run it - put the update.zip to sdcard, boot to recovery, navigate to "apply update from external card" and choose the update.zip. Done! Now you are in CWM recovery and you can backup\restore your system. After rebooting the recovery you will see the Hacked Stock recovery again (this is what fakeflash means - CWM loads in memory but after reboot you have your old recovery again. So keep the update.zip on SD card to use it again).
2. ODIN image is here. This one for those who really hates the stock recovery and ready to run CWM permanently even with ugly screen resolution. Flsh with ODIN as described above.
When I fix the screen resolution I'll inform you about it here.
Enjoy.

2013-06-13 UPDATE: The way how to get device rooted and CWM recovery flashed without affecting the counter
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is a way to get root and CWM recovery without affecting the down bin counter:
Step 1: Flash the pre-rooted system partition via ODIN (it will not affect the counter and will not erase your personal data). Now you have rooted device but it is still has useless stock recovery.
Step 2: Copy recovery.img on SD card and insert it in your device.
Step 3: Turn the device on, wait untill OS loaded. Go to Settings -> Developer options and switch on the Usb Debugging.
Step 4: Connect USB cable, choose "Camera PTP" in USB PC Connection menu on your device - this menu appeares in notification area (that's important to get your sdcard mounted).
Step 5: Go to console on your PC and execute the following commands:
$ adb shell
[email protected]:/ $ su
[email protected]:/ # dd if=/mnt/extSdCard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p6
Voila! You have your device rooted, you have CWM recovery flashed and the down bin counter wasn't affected.

Hi, I didn't have an external sd card at this moment so what I did was flash CWM and then sideload the root package, pretty simple, so you can add this method as an alternative, it worked pretty good.

1) All fakeflash versions does not affect the counter (only the ODIN flashed images do it).
2) All fakeflashes are temporary (just loading in memory and active until reboot).
3) Unfortunately the stock recovery doesn't aloow to load CWM fakeflash or rooting package, so you need to flash CWM or at least hacked stock recovery via ODIN (an this operation will definitely affect the counter).
Take care

Obviously the sideload should work ok as it is one of CWM features After you flashed CWM you can use all its' tools - sdcard is just simple common scenario. Anyways thanks for feedback - I'll add notice regarding adb sideload in the main post )

Almost forget - I've uploaded the prerooted system.img as I promised (check 2013-06-08 UPDATE section of the main post in this thread).
Use ODIN to flash this image (PDA section).
It will not affect the counter. All your applications and personal data will survive because they are on another partition, but anyway It's strictly recommended to make a backup copy before flasing. As a result you'll get the rooted device without replacing stock recovery and without affecting the "down bin counter".

Actually the first post in this thread contains step-by-step description of rooting process. And it should work for any s5301 device. But judging by the signature of your post, you have s5300 device which is copletely different. So I suppose you have to search this forum for solution developed exactly for your device...

----- SHORT DECLARATION - ODIN3 -----
PDA refers to the build version of the firmware
Phone refers to the baseband/modem version
CSC is the consumer software customisation and is specific to geographical region and carriers. It contains the software packages specific to that region, carrier branding and also APN settings for data connection, MMS etc for your service provider.
CSC has nothing to do with what languages the firmware supports and it will not add keyboard language support either.
.PIT refers to the partition information table you only need it if you screw up your partition table or if the firmware specifically requires it because of a change in the partition table layout. It's very likely you may never have to use this.
If the package only contains one .tar archive then it will have everything, pda+phone+csc, in the one file.
If it has multiple .tar archive then:
• The .tar with modem in the name is the phone/baseband bit of the package
• .tar with csc/multi-csc in the name is the csc bit of the package
• .tar with code/PDA in the name is the PDA part of the firmware package
If this is the case you will need to put these .tar archives in the specific areas of Odin to flash the update

Otherwise I will have to install the CWM, but I don't like it.

Yeah I choosed the same.
I only suggest you to add at step #6 of the flashing tut the link to the Samsung USB drivers as it's a common thing people might forget to install and therefore the device wouldn't be detected when connecting by USB.
Now thanks to you I can finally back everything up with Titanium and flash another ROM (the NEE one)!
Remember to setup a Beer button so that we can offer you one.

I actually had my contacts saved on the Google account and you can do the same.
Save the SMS with SMS Backup & Restore.
Everything else can be moved to your computer and back.
I then rooted the phone, installed Titanium Backup and went on with a complete apps, data and settings backup.
Even after flashing the NEE firmware everything (but root and CWM) was there without the need of a restore.

HELP!! In ODIN, I am unable to select the AP file. Whenever I click on the AP button to select the recovery image that I have downloaded, it does not recognise the recovery file. The file selection window is blank. Please help....
For the past 6 hours I've been trying to unbrick my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge (G925-W8). I accidentally cleared all the files/ caches with TWRP, now I do not have any OS on it.
Things I've done:
Used Odin to flash a md5 file or a rom I keep getting an error
I'm so lost, I just got the phone yesterday as well too
Do you have twrp? If so, you can sideload a rom. I think you could also mount your sdcard while you're in twrp, and browse it in Windows.

Download official firmware from sammobile if u want official, or a custom rom from here on XDA.
Link to YOUR phones official firmware: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G925W8/
(Please note that firmware downloads from Sammobile are very limited on speed if you are not a premium member. This download can take a few hours to complete)
If you have an official firmware downloaded:
1. extract the zip file to get your .tar.md5 file
2. turn your phone completely off, then back on in "download mode" you can do this by holding the volume down + home + power keys, then click volume up key to go into download/odin mode.
3. Connect your phone to your computer AFTER phone is in download mode and odin is opened and ready, you will then see it connected.
4. In odin, click on the "PDA" or "AP" (in some versions) button, and find your .tar.md5 file and add it.
5. When this is done make sure only F. Reset Time and Auto Reboot is checked, and most importantly, NOT Re-partition!!
6. Click start and wait for phone to automaticly get the firmware and reboot, when the ID:COM is green, and says completed, you may unplug your phone and set it up.
If you have downloaded a custom ROM from XDA:
1. Connect your phone to the computer.
2. Place the downloaded flashable ROM somewhere on your SD card.
3. Remove phone from PC
4. Boot phone into TWRP (custom recovery)
5. Do a data/factory reset
6. Choose install, find and select your file & click add.
7. Drag pointer to flash selected file.
8. For good spirits, do another wipe of ONLY "dalvic cache & cache" before you reboot phone to start it up.
Hope some of this information can be of any help to you just ask if anything is unclear / bad explained BEFORE you actually do something your unsure of!

Looks like you tried something without searching first
How did this go? All resolved?

Author tested on his Samsung Galaxy N7000 device.
Device tested for full 48 hours with no bugs.
Repartition of device is done on Samsung Galaxy Note 1 (N7000) 16GB model.
If you face any issues, those are pure stock ROM bugs.
Check Software update & register your device before you root your device with given steps in this post.
Rooting is optional, but I found that Stock ROM with it's original Kernel lags too much.
Kernel mentioned here is Optimised for Performance & Battery life.
It is a rare combination of Performance & Battery Optimisation.
I had installed many custom ROM, but the only issue that I was facing was incompatibility of those ROMs with my Samsung Camera & other phone functions. I noticed that many users wanted to move back to stock ROM but they had either faced installation issues or slower speeds for ROM package & inadequate sources to find exact ROM which is available for their device with their respective country. So, I decided to help those unlucky ones with this post, helping to get custom ROM installed on their devices & eliminate the STOCK ROM lagging issue with flashing of custom Kernel.

repartition of gtn7000
hi i would like to try this method, my gtn7000 16Gb variant is currently running CM10.1.3, CWM 6.0 as recovery.
The pit file attached in your post, does it increase the system partition, I am in need of a higher partition for my note as i get insufficient storage to install apps.
Also in your method is it necessary to flash the updated kernel, as I intend to expand the partition and later install CM10.1.3 or higher versions.
Will the CWM recovery be still there or do i need to flash it again.?
should i tick re-partition option , F-reset time, auto reboot in odin ?
regards
Nithin S.
Yes Exactly!

Hi Nitin,
PIT stands for Partition Information Table, it simply tells your device in what amount the internal storage is divided into Internal/ Phone memory & SDCARD0.
Difference between both the memories are, first used for app installation & later for data associated with those applications installed. So with officially N7000 comes with 2 GB Internal/ Phone memory & 12 GB of SDCARD0.
SO if you choose 8 GB PIT file for official stock ROM then you are ultimately getting 8 GB for app storage & rest 5 GB for related data storage.
You can choose between 4,6 & 8 GB of PIT file as per your needs & for ROMs other than STOCK you can extend this memory variant to (4,6,8,10 &) 12 GB Internal & 1.3 GB SDCARD0.
Hope you find this helpful & sorry for posting so late.

Hello Nitin,
Yes my method exactly intended for the very specific reason you mentioned here. "It will EXTEND your partition size " & let you install more apps!
There is no need to install custom kernel or flash any other ROM. I have tested it on all CM version ( CM 10+). Also there is no need to select F-reset time, auto reboot in odin. Go to odin Select PIT, it will pop-up some message just say Ok & proceed. Select desired PIT file from downloaded & extracted ZIP. Odin is smart enough to understand your operation & select all necessary settings automatically.
Simply, restart your phone in Download Mode, connect it to your PC & only flash the PIT file.
Hope this will help you! Any need please leave your question here.

Hello,
I first of like to advise you to backup all the data regardless How secure the procedure is. Because no one knows when some bug will come up! You better backup all your Internal data & proceed.

Flashing PIT File will change your partition table & enables device to allocate future data in similar way. I suggest re-flashing ROM would be better. Because with new partition information your device's software & other system apps will reside on proper partition. Hope you will find this information productive.
Ask freely if you have any further doubts.
