In a nutsell: when I plug the charger in (wall), after a while red led starts blinking, after a longer while phone turns on all by itself and starts booting up, <CM loading animation>, homescreen shows up and pretty much immediately phone goes off. During the one second of homescreen battery status seems to be 0%. This is then repeated for as long as the phone is plugged in and between the attempts to boot up manages to recharge a miniscule amount of power.
Problem has it roots in when I dropped the phone, backcover came off and battery was displaced. After that, phone booted correctly and worked, but battery status was stuck at 51%, which I didn't notice until the phone forced a shutdown (I think this happened the safe/soft shutdown way).
phone: Sony Ericsson Xperia pro (MK16i)
rom: CM-based LegacyXperia
So, now I can do these things:
- the continuous rebooting loop while plugged in
- boot to CWM recovery
- sometimes (and if I plug it into USB port), I get the battery charing icon (standard CM one?) which is what is supposed to come instead of automatic boot up (?). Usually at first it shows two yellow bars, quickly changing to one blue bar. Red led stays on (does not blink), so everything looks ok... until after a while the phone again goes off. If left plugged in, boot loop commences soon.
The phone can barely keep itself on while in CWM recovery menu for a couple of minutes maybe. Full wipe is going to the be last resort because I don't know how I'm able to take backups with so limited uptime.
I have tried:
- wiping cache & dalvik cache, since I can get to CWM recovery.
- I've googled a lot about this and one left-field suggestion was that the power button may be stuck (that thread was about entirely different phone). I guess that would make sense because I did drop the phone.
- removing the battery and kept it removed for several minutes. Also tried the trick of plugging the phone in first and then installing the battery.
I'd say that your power button is stuck, you should try another ROM however.
I would try a different rom

if you confirmed the power button not stuck, i would say either, the phone has some internal damage from being dropped, or the battery has been damaged.
of the 2, i would guess battery damage, but this is just my opinion.

It's going to be a bit risky because like I said, even in CWM menu it has barely enough juice for a minute or two and USB port is going to give even less power :/ The rom itself is ok (CM11 + added support for these ancient models, because the official one dropped them).

The stuck button: at least the phone can be turned off by the button, also key tester in CWM recognizes it. I would also lean towards battery damage or at least some kind of a miscommunication between it and the phone which makes the phone think it is not empty when in reality it is.
About the dropping: after that it booted and worked correctly, because I specifically tested that sound, camera etc. still worked, I did not see anything weird other than the battery % being stuck and used it until the battery emptied.
I can manage to use fastboot at least. I don't know if this a related issue, but I can't seem to get it return any values for battery information.
fastboot devices shows the device, but e.g.
Code:
fastboot getvar all
all:
finished. total time: 0.001s
Output should be something like this: http://pastebin.com/4vv9g7Hg
Won't return anything for battery-status and battery-voltage either.
but these work:
Code:
fastboot getvar version
version: 0.3
finished. total time: 0.003s
fastboot getvar version-bootloader
version-bootloader: Sony Ericsson S1Boot Fastboot emulation CRH1099189_R9A029
finished. total time: 0.010s
fastboot getvar version-baseband
version-baseband: 1243-7775_4.1.B.0.587
finished. total time: 0.007s
And probably many others I didn't test. a) commands/variables not supported b) battery/something so messed up that won't return anything?
I found this script which is supposed to slowwwwly recharge the battery in fastboot mode:
http://lesterhein.com/how-to-charge-your-android-phone-battery-in-hboot/
but of course it won't return any battery-voltage value either and secondly, after it does this cycle a few times, the phone shuts off.
Problem solved for now: one of the battery connector pins was bent inside because of the drop, the middle one (googled example pic) so I never noticed it. I simply pulled it back and phone has now returned from the dead, charges properly and seems to hold the charge too.
That for sure explains everything.
the battery level indicator no longer shows battery level and instead only shows a red exclamation mark. resetting the phone doesn't fix the problem. any ideas?
Same issue here ... Plz help
Try downloading the "mobile upgrade q" software from Alcatel and following those instructions to reinstall everything? Download the 5.0.6 version I believe or whatever one is listed for the idol 4 and then select your model number for your phone in the application itself

I have the same problem. I have a Alcatel 60450 idol 3 5. 5 running
6.0.1. When TOTALLY dead the phone will start to charge, then after a while try to boot to charge mode, but just keeps restarting. IF you push the turn on button, it will boot up and work, but upon boot up, or attempted boot up to charge mode, the software immediately disconnects the USB port and all charging stops. The phone can turn on an stay on, as long as plugged in. The red explanation point appears in the battery icon, and 0% appears for charge level and stays at that level. I have REPLACED the battery, but once the software puts up this icon, there is no way I can find to RESET battery communication and charging, once software boots up to either charge boot, or turn on boot. Phone is thus useless. Alcatel only suggests, clear cash or hard reset, which does not work...act like they know nothing, but this is a persistent problem as this is the second phone that has done this to me. Any ideas for a solution greatly appreciated.
I have a Samsung Galaxy J7 and there is no ROM on it. It had TWRP installed and working, but today it stopped booting. If I push the power button
nothing happens like the battery is dead. I went ahead and bought a new OEM battery and put it into the phone. I plug in the charger and for a
few seconds, the black screen shows a battery in the middle with a lightning bolt. Then it goes back to black ... I let it charge overnight but when I
go to turn it on, it still does nothing. no matter how long I hold the power button, nothing happens. I tried power + home + Vol and still nothing.
Just a black screen and no LEDs light up. Nothing ... if I plug it back into power the battery icon shows again in the middle of the screen with a
lightning bolt, then goes back to black.
What could this mean ?? Is there anything I can try ? the phone was booting into twrp just fine until today.
Please help !!

Flash stock rom latest with odin
Charge the batteries outside of the phone, with a standalone charger first.

Mmm ok I can try, I am very new with this phone, but have much experience with Odin and flashing, could you please point me to
the Stock ROM I should use?
Will this one be ok to try ? https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j7/j700t-development/rom-optimum-stock-v1-fullofhell-t3701168
Thank you so much ...
PS...( dodo224 ) I do not have a standalone charger to charge with so I can not try that method of charging. I will try Odin tho.

I dont have that phone so cant suggest you any roms, just make sure its stock and latest. Also i doubt that its a battery issue as a brand new battery has some charge which should have turned on the phone when you tried.
you can download your stock rom here: https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
download the latest one.

Hi -
I am a bit confused ... how can I flash anything if the phone will not turn on ? I can't even use Odin. If I push the power button on the phone
nothing happens. The only action I ever see is when I plug in the power cord to the phone, for about 5 seconds a big picture of a battery
with a lightning bolt through it, then the screen goes black again.
Thoughts please ???
Thank you
PS. I have tried different chargers and different batteries, but still the same result's.

Since you're new, have you tried pulling the battery, putting it back, then holding power, home, and volume down buttons simultaneously? It wasn't clear if that was the problem with using Odin or not.

If you have usb debugging on, there might be a way to reboot system in download mode. Its tricky But it works i guess. Try to Google some thing about soft brick. Im busy with work so not checking xda quite often. Sorry and good luck

Hi again -
first off Yes I have tried power-vol-home but again nothing happens. No screen. Just black. The ONLY TIME the screen comes on is if I put the charger into the phone..the screen ONLY comes on for 5 seconds displays the battery and shuts OFF. I have NO ROM / NO TWRP. . it is all gone. I had TWRP but if its there I cannot boot to it. No fast download / download / recovery nothing happens, only the battery ICON for 5 seconds. I have tried three batteries and none of them will help. It will NOT charge either.
Also Sandeepkumar - sorry I was not clear. There is NO OS. No Rom. So there is no way to turn on usb debugging. Please help ! If you have any other ideas, or you need any more info from me
Thanks again all !!
PS... Just so you all know, It was ALL working prior to this. It was rooted/TWRP/Custom ROM ... all fine. Then I deleted ROM/OS by mistake from TWRP, then this all happened

right, so now what we need to do is , connect your phone to computer while the device manager is opened on it. that way we can check if computer recognises the device in any mode. if it shows something in usb section then maybe we can look for a way to bring the phone in download mode or some other mode.

Okay, we must not check this pc for the device, open device manager using windows + X. Then selecting device manager from that black menu that pops up. Inside device manager, look for the list of usb devices, it should be near the end of list. Now when you plug a usb, you either see usb mass storage device or you see unrecognised device. Check what happens when you plug the phone and battery sign shows up

Okay, so if the phone doesnt show up in device manager then i guess there is nothing that we can do. I have ran out of ideas. Maybe its time to send it to customer support.
As you're trying all this, is your battery fully charged?

Oh ... Well I assume it doesnt show because it is not turned on. I guess my only option is to get a standalone charger and charge the battery then try again ,,,
Other than that .. IDK.

FYI I charged the battery in a universal charger, now phone boots fine. Battery was just too low to take a charge from phone.
Thanks again
Hi guys
My device is Mi4W 3G/16G. That morning i got up and turned on my phone but the screen was black and could not turn it on.Then I used MiSuitePC to fastboot. It automatically downloaded and flash Rom (seem it was China Rom but my device used Global Rom). But after flashing the device didn't boot up. So I tried to flash Rom by test point .It was successfully flashed by test point. But i still can't turn it on. I put it on charge, the red Led blinks. Connects and then disconnects when using data cable to connect with PC. The connect-disconnect loop goes on for as long as it isn't unplugged. Now, i cannot enter fastboot mode or recovery . Does it has hardware issues such as Pin, main,.. ?. Anyone encountered this problem?
Thanks.
I met the same problem but I don't know how to solve it
I know I may be 4 years too late, but this is usually an issue of an overdischarged battery, maybe leave it on a charger or open the device and check the battery voltage.
