Scroll up to start of thread. Read.
For convenience:
"Download, extract, copy bootanimation.zip and shutdownanimation.zip to system/media/
Set permission 644."
works on d850
Works fine on ATT/D850. I copied the two zips the download folder and did this to install.
Also I renamed PowerOn.ogg to PowerOn.ogg.disabled in the /system/media/audio/ui folder to kill the sound.
Settings > General > About Phone > Software Information > 7 Hits on Build Number
Settings > General > Developer Options > USB Debugging, Stay Awake > Connect USB to Computer
open shell with adb:
adb.exe shell
su (grant permissions on phone)
mkdir /sdcard/StockBackup
cp /system/media/*animation.zip /sdcard/StockBackup
cp /system/media/audio/ui/PowerOn.ogg /sdcard/StockBackup
cp /Download/media/*animation.zip /system/media/
chmod 644 /system/media/*animation.zip
mv /system/media/audio/ui/PowerOn.ogg /system/media/audio/ui/PowerOn.ogg.disabled
Thanks,I hate the Vodafone BA
Edit.
In order to work for me I had to replace the files in data/.OP/VF
Otherwise the Vodafone boot keeps showing
Very easy method
- G3 rooted
- ES file explorer and enable root explorer
How to apply:
make your backup for original bootanimation.zip and shutdownannimation.zip located on /System/media
Copy my bootanimation.zip and shutdownannimation.zip into /System/media and overwrite existing
Set file permission to rw-r--r-- by going to these files properties
Co py audio file*PowerOn*to /System/media/audio/ui
Set file permission to rw-r--r-- by going to this file properties
Reboot G3

Arigato Gasai Yuno, just to follow up, once you have copied the files to /system/app, set the permissions to
owner read+write

also known as 644
On an aside, Gasai, I was reading your post about yourself on rootzwiki, and I started out about the same time as you, August of last year!

You can use ES file explorer, root explorer or terminal.
1) mount system read-write
2) Copy the file into /system/app
3) a) in Root Explorer press and hol on the file, choose permissions
B) in terminal
Code:
su
cd /system/app
chmod 644 program.apk
exit
exit
Replace program.apk with the app name, repeat for all apps

Okay, so one of the issues currently with the leaked firmware is that some apps (e.g titanium backup, file explorers, etc) cannot save files to the extsdcard due to a incorrect parameter in the platforms.xml
So here is the fix:
Method 1
1.) Download the extsdcardfix-flashable.zip below and save to sdcard
2.) Reboot to recovery (CWM/TWRP)
3.) Flash the zip
4.) Reboot
Method 2
1.) Download the platform.xml.zip attatchment and extract
2.) Navigate to ~/system/etc/permissions
3.) Replace the platforms.xml with this one
4.) Set permissions as RW-R--R-- (644)
5.) Reboot and test if apps now have access to external storage
And NOTE this may or may not work so do so at your own risk!

I use "ES File Explorer". The best Tool for Filemanipulation (copy, paste, delete) I know.
Can You upload me original platform.xml? I change file and i have error...
after i replaced file i missed that permissions changed... then i had to reset default to get everything working :/ bluetooth stopped working and i had terrible glitches and freezes.. even when i changed to 644... so secont time i just added media_rw line by editing permissions.xml and now it worked flawlessly
I noticed that even now when i have rw acces to sdcard not everything is working as in 4.3 - for example solid explorer does not see by default external sdcard :/ but it is only beta so i can live with it
Works like a charm!
Thx for this
Works. thank you so much

I was able to get my Go Backup file and restore my apps.
Sorry,
But how can I do the step 4?
I changed the file, but I don't know how change these permissions...
Could someone explain it to me, please?
Ps.: sorry for bad english.

What explorer are you using? On most of them you just have to long press the file and it will display the menu option (copy, move, delete, PERMISSIONS).
Click on permissions and you will find where to check the option you need to make RW-R-R.
I use Root Explorer by the way.
Ok,
So I change only the permissions of platforms.xml file?
Is that right?

After mount system go to advanced, then file manager. Press back button if twrp ask something when you press advanced, and you will see all options. Search in file manager apk. Press once the apk file and then copy. After that navigate to system/framework and paste copyed file

Does anyone know how to change the boot animation on the Mediapad X2?

It's in the Cust/Preinstalled/Public/Media folder in the root directory I believe. If not it's either the one in the cmcc or dualcu folder.

Did you change the permissions of the zip after you put it in the Data/Cust/Media folder? Don't forget we have an odd resolution for our X2's. The 16:10 aspect ratio makes it hard to find things like boot animations that scale properly.

There is probably an XML file in one of the cust folders that has an option to disable the boot animation changing, and you probably have to find it and change it to a 1 or something lol.....I know, a real pain in the a**.
Cust/dualcu/cn/media/
don't forget to set your permissions

Use esexplorer to set permissions for bootanimation.zip -rw-r-r (owner, group, other can read - Owner can write - none can execute) for the file or it will not work.-
If you have moved the media directory set the permission for the directory to drwxr-xr-x(owner, group, other can read - Owner can write - owner, group, other can execute)

If you are talking about changing the splash screen then load_OEM.mbn is the file. But I have tried to flash another. I did on my ascend mate 2 cc version, to get rid of the orange splash screen. But when I try on lollipop 5.1.1 or 5.0.1 , It has security protection that halts it on flash. Some one has to come up with another way than what I was using.
