Black hole to disappear on the screen ... - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello to all This morning I had a rude awakening with my TF300T. Last night I closed the case (Tucano) and this morning I found myself opening this: (photo) I was going crazy to understand what has happened and then moving it horizontally tilting right and left has done away with the black bubble! Happy with the result, however, now I wonder if it is not appropriate to send him assistance Asus? (there are no other problems) Help me to better understand c and h could do. My TF300T is Root and TWRP and Crombi Rom!

Looks like water to me, by chance did you notice a lot of condensation around your house that morning? If it doesn't go away you probably can if your willing just separate your digitizer and LCD and clean it out, I actually just cleaned mine out last week pretty easily after some dust had gotten behind my screen.

Hello the problem the first time I came out I noticed is putting the pad in the case (perhaps pressure) weird anyway!
Then "panicked" I tried to wipe but nothing ... then I casually folded his hands in the end and this orrizzoni ... gone! Then I can not even send it in for service because I have unlocked the bootloader ...: Pianto:
Now it works and this is the importance qundo ... then come back with this "trick" are in place!
Thanks hello

[Q] Busted LCD got blue screen?

Okay strait to the point! I've got a Galaxy S2 with Android 4.0.3 bought it 4 months ago.
I accidently dropped my phone and cracked my screen on the bottom right corner. The crack went from bottom and a diagonal line up til the right side. I took a picture below.
imageshack(.)us/photo/my-images/685/20120326152703.jpg
This happened about 2 months ago. No problem since. I dropped the phone a few times afterward but it didnt seem to affect it lucky me.
Yesterday i tried watch some series over my WIFI and the phone got really hot around the camera area. The phone wasn't acting well either and then battery dropped from 75% til about 10% in 10 minutes without any video still showing up. (Never had that problem before). I stopped using it and instead put it on recharge for the next day. And today on the morning it was still okay. Went to school and back with the mobile still working. Put it on my table and checked my PC.
About 2 hours later while cheking up on my galaxy i discovered this.
imageshack(.)us/photo/my-images/198/20120326153629.jpg
I think that the LCD finally busted but i need to be sure if it has something to do with the previous crack and also if you could provide any info about what to do with it? Does my warrenty cover this? Or do i need extra insuranse?
I really need help right now LCD blackned spots
The screen has started to turn black from the core of the LCD leak. I now really think this is a broken LCD screen and not a software problem. If someone knows what i could do to fix this i really could need the help right now.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong,
But it sounds to me like you've busted the digitizer portion of your device. As to it being caused by the small crack on your screen.. i don't really know(can't really see if it's a crack in the glass or digi). At any rate, judging from the second picture you provided us it most definitely looks like you damaged the digitizer.
Most companies don't really cover damaged screens caused by users. However, being that your S2 is only 4 months old you could possibly pass it as "it did it by itself, I don't know what happen". Worth a shot I guess...
If all fails you could bring it to a electronics repair shop or you can repair it yourself via a digitizer part bought on ebay(probably pretty expensive being that its part of the screen)
If all else fails check ebay for a new screen.

If your thinking about taking the DIY road I found a screen for you.Quick note about buying something overseas on eBay: it usually takes awhile for the part to ship and even when you get it, the part may not be functional. But don't fret, eBay is usually pretty good about stuff like this so a working part will be guaranteed or your money back!
If you do decide to repair it yourself I would first research A LOT about your phone. Especially, the disassembly guide! Try to use only credible guides such as iFixit, repair universe etc.
This only applies to flex ribbon cables:
when replacing screens sometimes you have to plug it in a few times before you actually get it to respond(could be cause by oxidation of the pins) if thats the case, you could try to take a #2 pencil eraser and gently rub against the pins and remove the oxidation...
Good Luck!
Please let me know how it goes!

Yes it is really a crack and a very annoying one. It doesn't cause any problems with the touch-function, so I've been using it normally but for the screen, it has gone completely black but for the top right part still a little darkblue. I think I'm going with your first answer and try to check it in on warranty have had a bit luck with it past couple of times but im not sure about changing it myself. If having no luck with warranty then maybe ill try doing it myself.
at any rate weather you get warranty to change it or you fix it yourself maybe youll learn to be more careful and get a case maybe???

[Q] Circle of dead pixels suddenly appeared

Hi Guys
I've seen a couple of posts about this on forums but, I've had a similar thing to a few users now, where I have 2 circles of "Dead" pixels appear on the phone.
Seemed to appear suddenly today at work. I've not dropped the phone (today) but, I have had it in my pocket when getting out the car and, it might have been caught between my leg and steering wheel of the car.
I know there's been some suggestions of placing the phone in a carrier bag and, then in the fridge for a couple of hours (well, couple of hours to a weekend). I'm a bit nervous of this but willing to give it a try.
Just wondering though, does anyone have any explanation for why this happens? I can't see it being physical damage to the screen, as otherwise there would be whole columns of dead pixels or spider patterns with a crack. In the middle of the circles, it seems to be sub-pixels that are out (Blue / Red - Green seems to be OK). Also, has anyone else had the same experience and tried putting the phone into the fridge and, does this work? Annoying though it is, I'd rather live with it than knacker the phone totally lol.
I've attached some pictures to demonstrate what I mean... Note, on the blue one, it looks as though there's a pentagram dotted in the lower circle... Satanic Possession? lol
Kind Regards
Daryl
Well,Nothing of those homemade methods will help
maybe the screen got pressed too hard..got hitted by something..
take it to a lab
Probably just enough pressure and maybe battery and body heat, did the same with my Acer and a till reciept scrunched up so now have a multi-coloured circle in centre of screen... doubt there's a fix except replacing it
Rooted Xakep E320/C6 EUU Hacked Update
Thanks for the feedback on this. I think you're both right. The screen is slowly getting worse. The sub-pixels in the middle of the circles have repaired themselves but, the horizontal lines of dead pixels are slowly expanding horizontally across the screen.
I think I'm going to have to face the fact that its broke and see about getting a new screen fitted. I'd normally do it myself but, I've seen how well the digitizer and LCD are glued together, and to the case lol (HTC Sensation).
Am thinking it has to be a pressure 'injury' when getting out the car and, maybe it got trapped between my leg and the steering wheel.
The good news though, at least I have an excuse to nick my tablet back off my son lol
Well... bugger me rigid lol. As I was typing my last message, I thought "sod it, I may as well try putting the phone in the fridge to see if it does any good" After all, I had nothing to lose (as long as I was careful of condensation on the warm up) and... it does actually seem to be having a positive effect!!
Attached 2 more pics... One was taken at work at 3pm, one was taken after 80 minutes in the fridge at 11:30pm (note, the screen had gotten a little worse between 3pm and 10pm).
I've put it back in the fridge for another couple of hours and, will post an update on progress.
Ever the optimist once more
lol at the pentagram. Yeah it's probably because of pressure or some other physical damage. Do you have warranty?
Nope, the phone is 18 months old, I rang 3UK and, apparently the warranty is only 12 months so, bummed out there.
Have got the phone back in the fridge after noticing how much of an improvement the first blast of cold air made to it lol. Fingers crossed. I can't believe such a simple thing might actually make it better again
Bummer. Have a hard time seeing the fridge as a permanent solution, yeah you could always try ifixit if you think it's worth a shot.
This is true, I cant see it being permanent either. I did take a look at replacing the screen on YouTube and, it seemed like a straightforward enough task but, not sure about the whole glue thing between motherboard and screen, and screen / digitizer. I know it'll need heating to melt the glue a little but, the video I saw indicated that his heat gun was at 420 degrees Celcius... the psycho!!
Am hoping I can get another 6 months out of the phone, so that I can get an upgrade to a One X / Galaxy S3. I've really loved the phone and, will be sad when it eventually goes.
Just to give anyone interested a bit of a status update... Just about to go to bed and, need the phone for my alarm in the morning so, pulled it out of the fridge again lol.
As you can see from the attached though, it does seem to be still improving.
Going to run the dead pixel fix app overnight (not that I believe this will do anything spectacular) and, may do another round in the fridge tomorrow night. Of course, I will keep you posted.
For now though, the latest comparison - between 11:30PM (the improvement I posted earlier) and 1:30AM. Once again, you can see that the dead pixels do seem to be returning to life.
Well from the pics I'm gonna try it myself not looked up how the screens are made up but the cold could be doing several things as shrinking membranes (those touching may separate) and crystallizing the LCD (expanding the Liquid Crystal) to fill the gaps made at the pressure point, that's my guess so throwing it in the freezer tonight
Thanks for continued updates
Rooted Xakep E320/C6 EUU Hacked Update
I probably wouldn't recommend throwing it into the freezer. Just a gut feeling but, as the temperature in there is well below freezing, I think it would do more damage than good. At least in the fridge, it's only around 4 degrees C so, technically still within the operating temperature range of the device.
Also, when you do take it out, make sure you don't just throw the battery straight back in. As soon as it comes out, it gets quite a hefty amount of condensation on it. The last thing I would want is for something to short on the device when it gets its power back and fry your logic board :s
Not much improvement on last night in running the LCD fixing application (as I thought) so, thrown it back into the works fridge - much to the amusement of works colleagues lol. I'll take it back out around lunch time, see how it is, and post the comparison between 1:30AM last night and lunchtime today...
Fingers X'd
Latest on phone: My director at work advised I should check on operating temperatures of the phone to see how cold I could take it safely. Turns out that they are electronically safe at temperatures of up to -40 degrees C (although there's no way I would actually test this and wouldn't recommend testing it to anyone).
Following from this, I put it in the freezer at work for an hour (after being in the fridge at work for 2).
Not posted the before picture but, here's three pictures of how it looks at the moment. One on a pure white screen then, to demonstrate that it's not just the pixels being stuck white instead of not working, I have also done a shot of my home page, and a shot from a game.
I have a doubter at work who stated quite daringly that he would eat his underpants if the cooling of the phone worked... Now... All I need to do is prove why it's worked, then find some recipe's for Underpant Madras... any suggestions as to both would be appreciated lmao
Googling now and second post gives this http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-687247.html I'll see what else pops up and add to this posting here
Wiki lol -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Touchscreen <- I guess from this and type of screens now being used it's an adhesive layer between the back and front glass that is 'spread out' so no separation between back and front conductors, freezing may crystallize the adhesive and on warming the original surface pressure may force the adhesive back and conductors are separated again ;-)
Rooted Xakep E320/C6 EUU Hacked Update
Just noticed my own screen (or rather noticed it less lol) my spot has gone, although not as bad as your own screen only colour swirls on screen pressure no black/white pixels, I did have my phone slide and bounce off my knee that may have been enough for mine lol was looking forward to fridging it this I will be remembering though
As for a recipe for the grundigs i'd serve them raw .... 3 days worn .... why make it easy lol
Rooted Xakep E320/C6 EUU Hacked Update
Right it came back not as bad so I'd recommend a hard front cover, bit of a bind if they don't flip but it's that or faulty screens
Rooted Xakep E320/C6 EUU Hacked Update
Hi
Been a little while since my last update so, checking in. I don't have any extra pictures at the moment but, the cold is really starting to make a big difference.
I took it out the ice-making compartment at work at lunchtime and, the screen is mostly repaired. I would say about 5 - 6 dead pixels in a line now, around where the "beak" was on my satanic chicken (lol)
It's still in the fridge at home at the moment and, will probably stay there most of the weekend. This last bit is being quite stubborn to shift but hoping that it does shift and, when it does, it goes for good.
I'll let you know how it goes anyhow. I'm simply stunned by the improvement so far though
Yayyyyyyyy!!!
Well, the great news is the phone is now completely 100%
I've attached a photo of the screen with my home wallpaper on it... The trouble is, I can't remember exactly where the fault was so I can't get the exact same screen so, I've taken a wider shot which still demonstrates that there are no dead pixels.
I did have a bit of trouble getting Wifi and the SD card to read when I first powered back up from the latest (4 hour) stint in the freezer but, whipped the battery straight out and let it settle back to room temperature some more, then used a hairdryer just to ensure that any last bits of condensation had cleared up.
Fully working phone once again. I think I'll serve underpant soup at work on Monday lmao.
Thanks for following this little thread that I'd done and thanks for your input too. It's certainly been an interesting journey and, hopefully someone else with a similar problem can benefit from my experience too.
Kind Regards
D
What a cool way to fix your phone I have a Nokia 6303 classic with dead pixels. I will place in the fridge overnight and wait for the results next morning.
Good to hear it's running again, bear in mind it wont take as much to bring the fault back if pressure is applied again but from my own phone it does wear off so repeating the damage is repairable but will probably shorten it's life.
And please by all means post the pics of the garnished garment meal

screen TF700

I purchased the TF700 from amazon and recieved this Friday shipped from France was very happy with it and last night spent a few hours playing around on it whilst docked with the keyboard i then folded it up (carefully) and put it in a safe place, this Morning I opened it and shocked to see there is a crack in the top left hand corner near the ASUS logo, I have been very carefull with it and not banged it or dropped it and not been heavy handed with it . I did a search on google and seen a thread on here regarding the prime and the screen cracking whilst docked and folded up . the designs look identical so this would seem the be the same problem, Im going to contact ASUS tomorrow but im not holding out much hope on a satisfactory outcome.. absolutely gutted first decent bit of kit i've bought in years and its bust in two days
thought i best warn people so they don't suffer the same fate.

Same for me, though put screen protector on it now, and you can't see it anymore and its works the same. Though the stress if off the glass so it wont break again, I think its a big fault of ASUS. To not fix this if a previous model had the same fault.
f700 cracked screen as well
I have the same problem as well. I have a two week old and found a crack in the screen this evening. It looks like the glass is slightly bent outward meaning it's a stress fracture and not caused by dropping the tablet op dropping something on the tablet.
It looks like this is always a problem in combination with the dock. I've found other threads here and on transformerforums dot com (can't post direct link as new member).
I wasn't aware of this problem. If I was I wouldn't have bought the dock. I really wanted to like this tablet but it's not off to a good start.
Just heard about this issue; being my first ever tablet would hate to have it happen, I feel for you
When you open it do you open from the centre? I read on another forum lifting a corner can put stress on it.
Same for me. 3 days old tab and a broken screen when i wanted to pull out the tab from the dockingstation carefully. Cracked screen from the upper left to the upper right side. Asus say it is my fault an i have to pay for repair. I hate Asus for this and i'll never ever buy a product of this company.
Any change to see picture/s of these cracks?

This is just one reason why Square trade Warranty is a really good idea... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1903575 is another.
Here is my picture. Crack is hard to see on a photo. From top left to the top right.
yeah that stinks. i honestly don't know if they would even warranty RMA that or not. I keep mine docked almost all the time for the past idk 6 months (TF201 and now TF700) and have yet to have an issue. I think some tabs are manufactured in such a way that the screen pops out a little and the closing of the dock/tab combo puts stress on the glass causing breakage. sorry to see that

Now that sucks
I would take it back to where you got it from and have them send it back to Asus if you only had it a couple days. Paying $500 for it and it cracked in two days, that's crazy. They will just send it back to Asus.
I already sent it back to amazon.de.
They sent it back to me and told me that a broken glass is always the fault of the user. Nice customer service I sent it to Asus and same story. Broken display is always user intendet. No warranty. Nice customer service from Asus. Believe me i will never ever buy a Asus product again.
Are you in the uk? Did you purchase by credit card m if so they are equally liable along with the retailer, and in this case there seems enough reports to suggest this is a common design flaw, so take it up with them citing the significant number of reports here?

Same thing happened to my less than 2 month old TF700. Crack is across the screen from left to right 1/3 from the top. I just opened it one morning and the crack was there. No bumgs, no drops, the exterior was crack, bump free. Sent it to their service center and their head tech stated that it was user induced damage and even implied that my device was already opened 'coz of "scratches" in the locking mechanism. I talked to their tech and he said that all their products are quality checked and there was no way that the crack was caused by faulty assembly, and I pointed out that there was a loose bulge on the left and right side of the tablet, but he wasn't able to give me a reason. He said that he's the last word on it and it's a dead end.
I guess that's what Asus calls VIP Treatment for their customers.

Wow, this is the exact opposite experience that I have had with them on this issue. I support a number of these that are used as thin client replacements for sales staff and several of them have gone through this process due to unexplainable cracks in their screen. In all 4 cases that I know of, Asus did the repair for free. Since a cracked screen is really not something that I can do anything for, I have been having them RMA the unit themselves. They have never had a problem and in most cases had it back in a couple weeks(longest was 3). I am in the US and I am pretty sure they have been sent to the Texas repair center.
I told the users when they called to explain that it has not been dropped, or banged into anything, there are no visible signs of damage other than the screen crack... and that you believe the crack might have been caused by the dock.
Sorry for the unlucky others who have been met with accusations and refusal. FYI- sometimes it helps to complain to the higher ups or maybe Gary or Tien- they have always been willing to help or at least refer me to someone who can give me more than the standard RMA treatment.

[Q] Ghost Touch issues fix?

I bought this tablet off Amazon's Warehouse Deals. It came to me dinged and scratched up, but operable. I noticed the touch screen was a little off and would report false touches occasionally, but I didn't think it was anything to worry about. Like a kid in a candy store, I raced to get a new ROM so I could optimize this thing. In the process I unlocked the bootloader, rooted and installed PACman ROM. Ghost touches disappeared--gone for like 3 whole days. I'm ecstatic, and falling madly in love with this tablet. Then I notice the ghost touches coming back after the 5th day I have had it. Now its showing about 3 ghost touches almost constantly in one vertical line (in landscape) on the right side of the screen. Pretty much totally inoperable. I have scoured all ends of google, and most of the time it spits me out here, searching thread after thread of nothing but "RMA it". My questions are:
Is there any fix to this besides shelling out money for a new digitizer? Is that the general consensus that the digitizer is the root of the problem? I know I'm able to return the product, but does anyone know if Amazon is going to give me grief over an unlocked product that was a scratch-and-dent deal anyway? Any way I can re-lock the device? I've seen multiple threads with replies saying "lol didn't you read the blah blah? no way bro", but these were posted a couple months ago. Maybe something new has come up. I guess I just feel sorta rooked because I bought a defective piece of hardware, and now I can't get a refund just because I modified the software.

I got a similar situation in the last two weeks. The problem I have is that my TF300T is keeping rebooting by itself. I've googled it and people say most likely it's a hardware issue. I am trying to find a way to see if the device can be reset to factory condition so that I can return it for repair. Looks like we are on a same boat. Hopefully I can find a way to do so.
Just an update on my issue, in case anyone else stumbles across this particular problem. So far I have gone almost a week with no ghost touches. I popped off the back of the device (three guitar picks did the trick), and disconnected the digitizer ribbon cables and reseated them. Problem vanished. My best guess is that the keyboard dock puts odd pressure on the device. That mixed with rough handling is bound to cause some problems.

Thank you. I just got mine from Groupon as refurbed.. (they did a ****ty job, apparently) Ghost issue about 2 days after getting it out of the box. By then already unlocked and flashed CWM.. sigh.
I'll try your fix tonight. Any chance there is an image of the right connector/ribbon?
Hopefully the image quality isnt too bad. I took an exacto knife and gently pried up the black foam squares, set them aside and worked my magic. Hope this helps. Just be careful with the ribbon cable (duh). Hope this helps!

Thank you! I'll try this adventure later this week.
Did this today.. So far, 20 mins on it, and no issues. Typically took about 5-7 mins before. So, crossing my fingers this is gone.
THANK YOU! I can go back to enjoying my tablet
Im in the same boat with this Ghost Touches Issues, and its getting worse, sometimes im working at college and this Ghost appears and the tablet gets almost unusable, Only the Keyboard Dock saves me.
Please if you can give me more detailed instructions i think i would be brave enought to do this surgery to my tf300t, merry christmas!

i just noticed that when having a ghost touches attack, if i put pressure con the tablet, lime trying to bend it, the touches vanish.
I also have the ghost touches but it seems to only happen when the screen is dirty. As soon as I clean it off, they go away. Would a good screen protector help with that? I may go ahead and try taking off the back and messing with it.

I thought mine was fixed, but doesnt seem to be. I technically didnt remove the connectors.. I was nervous, they are WAY fragile. I simply unlocked and pressed firmly on them to attempt to reseat them..
Problem seemed to go away until I used Chrome. Chrome is what seems to trigger odd behaviors for me. I may try another browser and see if it still happens.
I've been dealing with this off and on for about 8 months; asus HAS to be aware of it as my tab has been back twice for this issue (out of warranty now) and I take advantage of their complaint form every month or so.
Here's what I've been working off of (based on personal experience/experimentation):
Re-seating the cables might help for a day or less, but isn't a permanent fix. I even went as far as strategic pieces of tape to hold the flex cables in place and tape across the connectors to encourage them to stay closed.
The first time I popped the back off the larger of the three flexes (with the silver wrap) had partially worked out of the connector on the driver board. Re-seated it and problem disappeared for about a day.
The large copper heat spreader was basically spot contacting the CPU and really wasn't touching the smaller ancillary chips (unit had been running warm for a few months, thought that might make things wonky). I pressed heat shield back down to ensure adhesion, and slightly molded the copper around each chip. Ghost touch gone for two days, unit way cooler running than before.
Here's the interesting one to me. Tonight I noticed that even just hovering my finger close to the screen I can get the 'touch dot' to show; this got me thinking about static. I held the tab in a way that at least one finger of one hand was touching the screen, like towards an edge (out of the active area) while using the other hand to touch the screen. Seemed like one hand was grounding the screen, like a charge couldn't dissipate from the surface.
Isn't this a "capacitive touch' screen? Could it be a matter of grounding?
I too purchased this tablet and dock from Groupon about 4 weeks ago or so as a manufacture refurb. My tablet does the same thing. After about an hour or so use most of the time it starts randomly acting like the screen is being touched. And it appears to only be in the upper right corner area (kinda where the lock screen pattern show up when you unlock it) in landscape mode. Sometimes it may take a little longer of use before it happens. It happens regardless if the dock is plugged in or not. I have figured that if I lock the screen and wait a few seconds and then unlock it. The ghost touches are gone for a while. I first began thinking it may have been a OS issue and hough about rooting and putting a custom rom on it. But from what I have seen on the web it doesnt seem to matter whether its rooted or not. So should I RMA it back or has any one had permenant luck with reseating the cable?
Thanks

I'd try reseating the ribbons. I kind of doubt it would solve the problem since it's a refurbished with a latent defect. Bad ribbons would strike at random but do not wait for a while before acting up. Look at the glass surface under a magnifying glass and bright light. Hairline cracks cause this after the tab heats up, but you can't always detect them. RMA would be the safe option unless you're really pressed for time.
Ghost touches are back. Noticed I had alot of them when my storage was full. Used a previous recovery (same ROM, just earlier date with less junk installed) and it cut down the frequency of them happening. This is so weird.
I had those ghost touches when 4.2 roms started (CM and AOKP and all of the rest of them. Then someone, I don't remember who had compiled rom with decreased touchscreen sensitivity and ghosting was gone. I think they started with PAC or AOKP, I really don't remember.
Then I went to 4.3 and 4.4 roms and I didn't have one single ghost touch since then. I do noticed sometimes when I hover finger over screen it is registered as touch, but ghosting by itself didn't occur on those roms.
one cent fix
I have an ugly, but effective solution working on my pad right now. It has been in place for about three or four months.
Holding in landscape mode, pulled the bottom left corner back slightly and inserted a penny between the back and the lcd. This put enough torque on the screen to kill all of the ghost touches and it still fits into the keyboard dock. There is an ugly gap where the penny is, but it is now fully functional.
Hope this helps some of you

Yellow spot on screen

Is this for waranty or not, device is old 2 months and yellow spot appears on lcd?
Bump
Anyone know does this issue cover warranty? I mean will sony accept this and fix my device?
I've got the same issue on mine, but rather worse and mine is nearly a year old. Had no issues up until about a month ago an then there was a small issue and it's been gradually getting worse and worse.

Yeah my damn phone same deal, I just posted a thread as well, right by the change port, interestingly enough if I hold the phone in my hand when I would go to lock push the power button, my thumb is right where this mark is as well, so I am now wondering if the slight side pressure over time has done this.

Possibly, it can't really be charge port related in my case as i don't use. I haven't plugged the USB into my phone for about 4 or 5 months now. I always use a dock/cradle with magnetic charging in it.

I've just had mine repaired for a very similar discoloration under warranty. My screen also started to lift - there's some conjecture that the discolouration is the glue melting!
Had mine delivered back to me this morning after sending it back for this issue. Came back repaired with new screen protectors and new bezle fitted. Through warrenty
guys, can you pelase confirm it the replaced screen is the same as the original? I had it replaced but the screen I got is not the same as the old one..while viewing in extreme sunlight, i could clearly see the LEDs on the display...but now all i see are vertical dots...seems like they fitted a chinese display that looks exactly the same...

Mine had dots before I sent it away and the screen it came back with also has dote, although now they seem less visable. They were extremely noticable before. Also, my pictures look amazing compared to before.
Before sending it away it was on 4.4.4 but now its on 5.1.1 so weather that has something to do with it or not I dont know.
Ok finally got device back, i got completely "new" unit, only motherboard is my old one..so full cover, digitizer and lcd is new one.
