Stock kernel compatible with Nexus Display Control - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I just want to know whether there are any kernels out there which is exactly similar to Stock with have the ability to use Display Control? Or are there any ways to add that feature to stock kernel?
Thanks alot

Well, if its a stock kernel it wont have the display control. And if its a custom kernel, it can have it. But the custom kernel will change much more than just adding the screen control. And that the only way to get it, unless you build yourself a stock kernel + display control.

ElementalX lets you choose stock kernel settings in the installer and allows you to change the color profile.

[Q] Display Color Correction?

I came to the Charge after a brief stint with the Nexus S 4G. On that device, there was a Voodoo-based kernel available which allowed the user to make adjustments to the color settings of the display. AFAIK, these color modifications are not included in the Voodoo kernel for the charge. Does anyone know whether it is possible to incorporate these in a future kernel and/or whether there is any other method out there to tweak the display?
I looked at incorporating Voodoo Color, but the methods that are modified by the Voodoo Color changes do not exist in our display driver.

Too bad. Thanks for the quick reply though, imnuts.

[Q] Reason to flash rom

Are there any particular reason to flash into RevoHD or LeeDroid or any other custom Rom, beside the factor of being able to o/c the cpu?
a list of reason would be nice.
Virtuous because of the advanced quick settings and ram optimizations. You have the option to turn off auto rotate, adjust screen brightness, media volume, and ringtone volume all from the status bar. Can't tell you how much of a time saver it is for me. It's stable, and they are always developing new kernels, though stock will be your most stable option until source code is released. I'm sure this thread is about to flow over with other opinions but if you are looking for speed and stability in a Sense ROM, you should atleast give Virtuous a go.
Likewise with Android Revolution HD.
Speed is much better than stock, no stupid bloat, the option of a 'sense-less' install (not exactly stock, but an alternative nonetheless), in-built auto OC (if you're into that kind of thing) and forced GPU Acceleration (smoothes some animations), as well as very good battery life.
Coupled with the UNITY kernel, I find it a good combination for everyday use.

[Q] Voodoo Color GLaDOS n AOKP

Hi...
I'm using AOKP M5 for a week and flashed GLaDOS 2.11 kernel last night.
After flashing the new kernel gamma level seems to have increased, now how do I tweak 'color and gamma' on my Nexus S with this ROM and Kernel combination?
after googling what i've learned
1) AOKP RC gamma and color tuning is only meant for GNex and is not supported for *any* Nexus S kernel.
2) GLaDOS 2.11 has Voodoo Color V2 support but the Voodoo Control app on Play Store seems to have been replaced with Voodoo Sound only!
3) NSTools provides interfaces for many GLaDOS tweaks but there's no interface for Voodoo Sound or Color features.
You probably can tell from my question that I'm new to modding.. but I'm trying to learn on my as much as I can by reading here n on Rootzwiki.. but got stuck with this situation.. Please help...
Voodoo Sound app includes Voodoo color. Voodoo Control->Voodoo Sound is only a change of name. So use Voodoo Sound and scroll to the bottom to find Voodoo Color configuration.
Bah...! That was an unfortunate change of name I must say... :-/
Thank you very much anyway

SetCPU not saving settings

Changing some values at governor tab (setcpu), after rebooting the device, the changes i made are gone.
Any ideas?
by the way: using promethius rom 1.5v+, promethius kernel v-ex+ (very stable, the only problem i get is with setcpu)
Do you mean the frequencies or changes like Threshold/Sample-rate/Save Power bias
For frenquencies i would try another app like Rom toolbox lite (changes sticks)
For second im having the same problems, i think they are presets in build prob, so after each reboot this settings are used.

Yes, it's the same here, frequencies, profiles, those changes sticks, but changing at governor tab (up treshold, sample rate, etc... ), not sticks after reboot! so if they are presets in build, how can i change those settings at build level ? which software?
thansk!

Working ROM for running kcal utilities?

I got a replacement LCD screen and the colors are wrong. Basically the gamma needs adjustment. I saw that kcal-based apps allow for that type of adjustment.
It's my first time unlocking, rooting, and flashing a non-Google device. It was a little complex, but I got HavocOS 4.8 and Magisk installed. However, color adjustment applications say that kcal is not available. Kernel Adiutor also shows nothing. It is possible I've missed some important piece of config, and I'm looking into that in parallel.
Has anyone found a custom ROM whose kernel includes kcal patches for the Moto G Stylus? It would certainly spare me having to flash and root multiple distros if I know one of them works.
