Are there any particular reason to flash into RevoHD or LeeDroid or any other custom Rom, beside the factor of being able to o/c the cpu?
a list of reason would be nice.
Virtuous because of the advanced quick settings and ram optimizations. You have the option to turn off auto rotate, adjust screen brightness, media volume, and ringtone volume all from the status bar. Can't tell you how much of a time saver it is for me. It's stable, and they are always developing new kernels, though stock will be your most stable option until source code is released. I'm sure this thread is about to flow over with other opinions but if you are looking for speed and stability in a Sense ROM, you should atleast give Virtuous a go.
Likewise with Android Revolution HD.
Speed is much better than stock, no stupid bloat, the option of a 'sense-less' install (not exactly stock, but an alternative nonetheless), in-built auto OC (if you're into that kind of thing) and forced GPU Acceleration (smoothes some animations), as well as very good battery life.
Coupled with the UNITY kernel, I find it a good combination for everyday use.

New android user here (3 weeks) and I just got the new Infused on my phone last night. But im not too sure on what the actual differences are? I know it had a different launcher (one i didnt like because I like 5x5 icons) but thats all that really seemed different to me. The status bar looked like a diff with a diff battery icon and a few different icons. Not trying to be a downer but what is the main reason people switch over to the Infused rom???
The main features are Voodoo lagfix and sound. The lagfix changes the filesystem that the phone uses to one that is much faster which makes your phone faster and smoother all around. I'm not sure on the details about Voodoo sound but I believe it basically installs different sound drivers that make better use of the high end sound card that the infuse has, making all of your music sound better.
There are other things such as other speed improvements, removed stock AT&T apps, and new themes as well.
Basically, it makes your phone way faster and better, themes it, and removes all of the unwanted crap.

Speed I havent noticed too much yet, but it was also fast as hell before and im coming from an iphone 4 so the big speed jump from that made this one less noticeable to me. So basically it uncluttered the phone and mades a few things different so they ran more efficient and cleaner?
and is there anything special I can do now? I know it says unbranded app market so what apps are there that I couldnt get before?

pretty much explains it.
Now if only reporting the misplaced post didnt require PMin a Mod.

It was a question about the infused rom which is part of development so I figured it belonged here, sorry for the mistake
I think moto was saying that you could have posted this "in" the Infused ROM thread.
I'm on Infused 1.5 too. There are a wealthy of improvement built into the rom. See the change log for everything you need to know man.
I'm surprised this thread is still open. I'll answer the question anyways. the rom is based on the updated firmware, many people are unable to get it ota, it is deodexed which removes unneeded files that take up space, it is zipaligned(not completely sure what that really does) att bloat is removed, sensor related batery drain is reduced, wifi poling is less frequent(saves battery if wifi is enabled but you are not connected) low mem killer is tweaked(may improve performance) rfs file system is replaced with ext4 with special mount options for best performance without losing data (there are faster file systems but many don't have journaling or are not very standard), it has an improved driver for the headphone amp with bass boost and presets for recording levels and quality settings. a launcher with less lag and transparent background, cwm recovery without a need to mod 3e recovery.
basically it is a bit smoother, which may be hard to notice because the infuse runs pretty good, it has less of what you font need, and it has somethings you need made easier. and even things you didn't know you wanted but once you try it out you won't want to get rid of it

Please excuse the dbag, quite a few of them here, but there are enough helpful people that make this place usefull.
Rom developement forum is for the devs to post info on roms. I think they prefer questions in the rom thread itself or in general.
Motomudder77 , good job making newbies feel welcome. He said he was new to android. So reading the change log 100 times would do no good. If you cant post something helpful then dont post.
Dave
Ask your question in the Infused ROM thread, don't start a new thread.
Closed.
I've forgotten what a froyo based rom was like since I've been flashing CM7 based roms for about a month now.
I'm trying to remember...what are some of the benefits and deficits of running a CM7 based rom as opposed to a froyo based custom rom (seeing as roms like EB and Sinister have a lot of the stock bugs fixed and speed/battery optimized)?
benefits: theme choices, cm settings (including screen-off animation), dsp manager, lockscreen choices, led notifications, notification power widget
deficits: no a2dp, no high def through hdmi, low quality camera shots, battery life
Can you think of anything that would add to this list on either side of the fence? And if I'm incorrect about something, please let me know.
hello, i am buying a chinese phone, one of those with great specs, low price but no support...so what are the modifications i could make to increase its performance? what makes something like cyanogen better than a stock rom, with less lag, and so on? obviously the first thing i'll do will be root and remove the chinese programs and everything...and then? what else could i do? i was even thinking...the phone will have a 1080p screen, but lowering the output resolution to 720p would increase performance/battery? if yes, i could i do this? thank you
Sad to say, there ain't much to be done other than rooting and freezing unwanted stock apps. You can look into some universal scripts/apps that can improve your device's performance. Currently, I'm trying this out..

mmm...so what makes using a custom rom a good choice? just graphic improvements or changes? (custom launcher, icons and so on?)
Each custom ROM have their own unique features for performance or added functionality.. If you wanna flash custom ROM, you must at least get a device that is supported for development.
hmm , just search for app tweaks ,, (some tweaking app doesn't require root access) , hope you're lucky to find it
Hello guys!
I would like to ask you for opinion what is best ROM for you. I recently rooted my I9505 and installed CM 12.1 but I want to check another viable ROMs, but there are SO many ones in android development section
Since I love to play many games on my phone, Im looking for a rom that is categorized in order by:
- Maximum performance and fps stability
- System stability (yes it is at second place )
- Battery usage (Im using greenify)
- Features
Im open to any suggestions. In few days these is some free time for testing ROMs
Optimized CM13 or AOSP 6 by JDC Team. In Stweaks app, select the extreme performance profile. Antutu scores over 35000 while other roms score around 32000.
Yet for gaming, I believe 5.1.1 is better, JDC Team made those as well.
^ what he/she said.
When it comes to performance, JDCTeam roms are best, due to the included alucard kernel.
Switch to the extreme performance profile and you're good to go. Note that not all settings take effect after applying the profile, so you may need to reboot.
You will also get good up time, because the kernel automaitically switches to a low power mode when the screen is off.
But when it is in use you will get about 2 hours SOT.
With extreme battery you may get around 4-5 hours SOT.
The stock cm kernel, that comes with pretty much every rom, is ok and all for everyday usage, but when it comes to performance it kinda sucks compared to custom kernels.
@GDReaper Paradoxically, on CM 12.1 with performance battery profile (in notifcation bar) I get AnTuTu score near 38k. However, when I tested JDCTeam optimized CM 12.1 and changed to performance battery mode in notification bar, I got at least 30k score (however I haven't modified kernel via STweaks yet). Maybe I should give it a try .
By the way, is Alucard custom kernel contains fast charging feature? I wanted to test it as well
That battery mode from CM only changes the CPU governor to Performance.
Alucard kernel changes many different settings depending on the kernel profile.
Also, the S4 does not have fast-charge built-in. Only the newer phones have that feature.
Then I don't know why standard CM rom gave me so high score.
However I will test again Optimized CM 12.1 and reply back tomorrow (making backup and so on)
Optimized CM13 by JDC Team is the best in my opinion.
I would go for stock based one like lollirom v8
best stability, no lag over time...
Thank you all for answers
Checked Optimized CM 12.1 and changing profile in STweaks to extreme performance really gives huge boost (over 38k score) as well as extreme battery cuts its performance when battery is more important (under 30k score).
The only cons is that changing between profiles takes about 20-30 seconds but it doesn't bother me so much
EDIT: I read that when you install Lollirom v8 you have to change modem to HPA1 to make WiFi work properly. Is that really needed?
Im not convinced to modify anything other than system. Is it possible to backup my modem easily so I can restore it if something goes wrong?
I will be doing the same as you!! Ive been using Golden Eye for quite some time now, but am ready for something new

You can use a custom kernel to avoid the WiFi issue.
I don't know if there is any way to backup the modem, but changing the modem isn't hard either.
Lollirom will not change your modem, only official stock roms can change your modem.
I find it kinda weird that this phone isn't even able to get a constant 60 fps on the settings app. The skin doesn't even seem to be that heavily customized like touchwiz
They're not as stable. I prefer stability over visual flair; Function over form.
