I came to the Charge after a brief stint with the Nexus S 4G. On that device, there was a Voodoo-based kernel available which allowed the user to make adjustments to the color settings of the display. AFAIK, these color modifications are not included in the Voodoo kernel for the charge. Does anyone know whether it is possible to incorporate these in a future kernel and/or whether there is any other method out there to tweak the display?
I looked at incorporating Voodoo Color, but the methods that are modified by the Voodoo Color changes do not exist in our display driver.

Too bad. Thanks for the quick reply though, imnuts.

Hi to everyone. Noob question, like plasma TV's and LCD's you can change / tweak their color values, hue, brightness contrast etc. Some even go as far as open the service menu of the TV to do a more thorough job. I was wondering if there was a way/app/hack to do this on the phone.
The screen is great but a bit too saturated and plays on the blue/green spectrum a bit too much.
Hardcores speed mode kernel has color adjustments for cool and warm. So I think the answer is yes, but it is not easy and requires knowledge of programing the device
galaxy tuner app.
flash kernels with color adjustments (i.e. voodoo color)
voodoo color even not needed for Galaxy Tuner
Thanks, I am quite new with all of this, I tried searching for Galaxy Tunner app in the market but did not find it anywhere there.
Thanks though for the input, must be core complicated that I think.
Anyway it would be great if phone makers in the future build in some sort of screen tuning app and presets, you know how like TV's have a cinema mode, vibrant mode, etc. plus a few basic controls for color temperature and hue.
Hi...
I'm using AOKP M5 for a week and flashed GLaDOS 2.11 kernel last night.
After flashing the new kernel gamma level seems to have increased, now how do I tweak 'color and gamma' on my Nexus S with this ROM and Kernel combination?
after googling what i've learned
1) AOKP RC gamma and color tuning is only meant for GNex and is not supported for *any* Nexus S kernel.
2) GLaDOS 2.11 has Voodoo Color V2 support but the Voodoo Control app on Play Store seems to have been replaced with Voodoo Sound only!
3) NSTools provides interfaces for many GLaDOS tweaks but there's no interface for Voodoo Sound or Color features.
You probably can tell from my question that I'm new to modding.. but I'm trying to learn on my as much as I can by reading here n on Rootzwiki.. but got stuck with this situation.. Please help...
Voodoo Sound app includes Voodoo color. Voodoo Control->Voodoo Sound is only a change of name. So use Voodoo Sound and scroll to the bottom to find Voodoo Color configuration.
Bah...! That was an unfortunate change of name I must say... :-/
Thank you very much anyway
Hi guys, I have a question. I have a f3111 model and I'm seeing black color changes when something whiter is displayed on screen. More precisely, for example: I use Xplore file manager with dark theme. If I open a folder with lots of icons with white text, the black colors change, becoming more brighter. I heard it's something called dynamic brightness and it is on regardless of auto-brightness being on or off. Do you any of you experience this and do you know a way of disabling it?
Thanks

Yeah, I think I found a way to disable this, but it needs a kernel recompilation. It's called cabc (content adaptive backlight control) in the kernel and it needs to be set to 0

Hi @rrvuhpg,
Thanks for the suggestion. I tried copying the *Image.gz-dtb* and pack it along with the ramdisk using carliv kitchen (I replaced boot.img-kernel with the image). Unfortunate it does not boot. It just shows me a black screen. The Image.gz-dtb was constructed from the sony archive with their indications of how to build the kernel. The kernel was built with default config. Can you help me further? I'm missing some steps. Can you detail a bit, please, on how have you built the kernel?
Thanks.
It booted with the kernel from your git. Merci beaucoup!
It works, dynamic brigthness off with CONFIG_MTK_AAL_SUPPORT=n in the kernel config.
If anyone is annoyed by it I can share the kernel...

Very good news
Anyone else find the colors on the P4A washed out? Anyone addressed this using color control/RGB control? Any profiles to share?
Yeah I noticed the same thing after I used my previous phone. I simply upped the saturation and contrast a little and I think it looks better.
Is there any possibility to control saturation / contrast / RGB in the stock ROM and with the stock kernel? Or is it only possible with custom kernel / ROM?

I don't think you can do that without a custom kernel. But if you didn't know yet, under display settings there are a few preset color profiles available you can choose from.
I got a replacement LCD screen and the colors are wrong. Basically the gamma needs adjustment. I saw that kcal-based apps allow for that type of adjustment.
It's my first time unlocking, rooting, and flashing a non-Google device. It was a little complex, but I got HavocOS 4.8 and Magisk installed. However, color adjustment applications say that kcal is not available. Kernel Adiutor also shows nothing. It is possible I've missed some important piece of config, and I'm looking into that in parallel.
Has anyone found a custom ROM whose kernel includes kcal patches for the Moto G Stylus? It would certainly spare me having to flash and root multiple distros if I know one of them works.
