Security question about lock pattern in sense 5 - HTC One S

Hi guys, recently my friend`s phone was stolen and I found this bug in the lock pattern , where even if you your phone is locked with some pattern , you can actually use the power button to turn it off (and prevent the tracker to find it/lock it/erase it) or reset in bootloader and access recovery so the bad guy can do anything with it... is there a way to prevent power button menu to appear while phone is locked vie pattern ? (nerd)

Use fastboot from your PC. Everything is controlled from CMD Prompt. Look at Pete's tutorial. Just need to setup the drivers. Check the stickies.

Just have it fixed through best buy it takes 3 business days I sent mine in on Thursday and got it Monday since obviously weekends don't count. My power button wasn't working either and I was rooted and unlocked bootloader..just save all your data since they might just give you a new nexus like me

doesnt black tie give you a new phone right there?
also try, inserting the battery in while its plugged in. It may turn on automatically.

If ur bootloader is unlocked, switch off the fon, connect the phone to computer by pressing both volume keys and connect the using data cable. Ur fon wil enter into download mode. So u can flash rom and all with odin.

[MOD] wake up phone with volume keys !

i hate reaching for power button to wake up phone!
this mod will wake up phone with volume keys!
this mod is made by GideonX, i asking for it on tmobile gs2 forum and he makes it for me!
this mod tested on "Deodexed" 2.3.6 stock rom.
wake up phone with volume keys
This works great. I just noticed however that it made the text in the Recent popup change from saying Task Manager to 4G Network Disconnected, although clicking it, it still correctly opens the Task Manager.
awesome thanks.
Exactly what I was looking for. Now, to find out how to install it (novice here), haha. Already rooted, but no custom roms running.

Use Root Explorer or any other root file manager.
or just flash it.. like you flash any custom rom!
I just need to have my phone rooted and this will work? Or do i need that other rom first?
Widgetlocker also has the function to do so

widgetlocker has wake on any keys, but it cant wake up samsung (phones).

So will flashing it work if I'm running stock Rom but rooted? Or do I need to flash that Rom?

[Q] Security lock password entering

Hi, i'm just ordered my nexus 5. My question is Security lock password. As you know in iphones you don't have to press enter after you enter your phone password and i want to enter my phone like this. Is there any app kernel or rom for this?
It's not on stock but many roms have quick unlock.

Possible to turn off magnet??

My co-worker at the aluminum smelter bought Moto g and is experiencing problems do to the magnet. We have a magnetic field at work and his phone thinks the case is closed and screen turns off.
Is it possible to turn it off?? I did it on my LG G2 which had the same problem in magnetic field.
Thanks.

It his phone rooted?
Xposed mod oportunity
I don't think that you can.
However you can use some tool to either keep the screen awake all the time (battery drain).
Or use something like Tasker (Llama is still free i guess) and set a rule with magnet detection : if magnet is lower/greater than default value then screen on or off.
I don't have a magnet at hand, but this xposed module should do it

Edit:
yep, it works
It's so easy to change stuff with Xposed, should came with the stock Android

Yes, you need root to be able to install the Xposed framework app. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401
What my xpose module does is to bypass the function that checks if the cover is on and puts the phone to sleep.
Is it enough to just root or do I need to unlock the bootloader and install custom recovery??

Currently there is no root method which does not need unlocked bootloader.
Unfortunatly you need to first unlock your BL, then install a custom recovery to finally root your device.
But trust me it's worth it.

When shell close, the phone doesn't go to sleep mode but if I manually turn the phone to sleep and open the case it wake the phone up.
Any idea guys?

That seems to be a problem with CM, you should ask the builder about it.

Can't Update nexus 5 past 4.4.3

I Need help updating my nexus 5 to 4.4.4. I touched the notification notifing me of the update and it switched to the twrp recovery screen and failed. I then switched back to stock recovery. Now it keeps saying my system is up to date. Any suggestions?
it failed because you are not running 100% stock rom/kernel.

fastboot.
There has to be a better way besides me doing a fastboot or restore to factory. There is an app or script I remember having to cleardata/clear cache . I have too much important data that I can't seem to back up.

Oh right. So to be clear you don't want to be updated / rooted / recovery ?
Because our assumption was that you did want those things and that's the advice we've been giving
App reset? No idea, they changed how it works.
If you use search, there are other threads discussing that. Probably get this one locked
Edit. Oh so you mean the reset that forces OTA updates to be checked again? That was always considered a bad idea and it still won't help your issue of your ROM is modified.
If you want root, what I said is the best way bar none. If you want stock unrooted, fastboot flash system.img to clean up your ROM.

Everyone else don't do what the OP has done. It has been linked to some pretty bad software issues... This was just a case of "OP knows best" unfortunately.
