Hi, i'm just ordered my nexus 5. My question is Security lock password. As you know in iphones you don't have to press enter after you enter your phone password and i want to enter my phone like this. Is there any app kernel or rom for this?
It's not on stock but many roms have quick unlock.
Xposed+gravity box can do that

the casing is a Nexus 5 but it detects it as a Nexus 4 i wanted to root and put another firmware in it but my windows is not properly detecting this device can someone please point to a right direction to properly root this device thanks
You also seem to have a test build of key lime pie. This is definitely strange.

Looks like a pre-launch device.
Did you buy this from Google or your carrier? What version are you running?

@Neurotica i got it from one of the wireless stores around my area he was selling them for cheap so i took a bite on it but any methods of trying to root it or getting my pc to read it is not working any suggestions?
@MakoVince is there somthing i could do with it as far as rooting it and changing the ROM? im new to Android devices so im not sure what to do with this phone
I'd suggest that you try to update your device while it is still stock. Sideload the updates until you read KitKat.

0. Unlock the bootloader
1. Install CWM or TWRP via fastboot
2. Back up the pre-release software and save it on your computer
3. Install 4.4.2 factory image via fastboot to 'fix' your device
4. Share the backup you made, because it's interesting

Do what rusty said, you dont even know how lucky you are . We missed an oppurtinity to get a an early prerelease system once. I hope we don't lose the chance again.
Follow these instruction https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnlUdjUaD3Q when you come to the point to select build number select any build.

Anyone know how to remove the lockscreen security while using this? The "try a wrong password 5-10 times" thing doesn't work
Pretty sure because it's using VPN it will most likely require a pin.

Jeeab, when I was using this app on my Droid Razr HD it didn't even let me try that trick.. I did it over 75 times for good measure. Good luck getting it to work. But I am happy that I got my wifi back! YAY!

me as well, i cant believe you cant use your fingerprint which is more secure then 4 digits but not as secure as a complex password.
Will this work with lg g2 stock kitkat un rooted? If so does it cost money?

If you mean LG G2X then it's possible if you are running 2.3....
The app itself is Free. But the Key to unlock all abilities is $7.95.. Google is a powerful thing.
Worked for me! I have a non-rooted (obviously) stock 900V.
Thank you!

the only problem I have is, I got too used to unlock my phone using the fingerprint scanner and in order to use this app, you need to disable that and unlock with a pin # but I am happy there is an option for tether for us still on unlimited data

Leo. Root your phone with @geohot Towelroot and then install Xposed and X Tether. Native app FTW.
Use Android Device Manager
An easy way to get back fingerprint lock is to use the android device manager to disable the lockscreen lock outs. You also have to install the certificate first and do not remove it or you will have to do this again.

Found another quicker way to do this:
1. Goto google.com/android/devicemanager and locate your phone.
2. Click "Lock" and chose a new number password.
3. Type the new password on your phone and it will unlock.
4. Now it should let your change the lockscreen to anything, and foxfi will continue to work
Still working after restarting phone and using Foxfi

Orrrr, now you can Root your phone without tripping Knox, installed Xposed and X Tether and have the native hotspot and tether working without FoxFi
Hi guys, recently my friend`s phone was stolen and I found this bug in the lock pattern , where even if you your phone is locked with some pattern , you can actually use the power button to turn it off (and prevent the tracker to find it/lock it/erase it) or reset in bootloader and access recovery so the bad guy can do anything with it... is there a way to prevent power button menu to appear while phone is locked vie pattern ? (nerd)

I Need help updating my nexus 5 to 4.4.4. I touched the notification notifing me of the update and it switched to the twrp recovery screen and failed. I then switched back to stock recovery. Now it keeps saying my system is up to date. Any suggestions?
it failed because you are not running 100% stock rom/kernel.

fastboot.
There has to be a better way besides me doing a fastboot or restore to factory. There is an app or script I remember having to cleardata/clear cache . I have too much important data that I can't seem to back up.

I wanted to reset the app that controlled updates. I had a similar problem with me rooted galaxy s4 and HTC One and it was as simple as an app reset.

Oh right. So to be clear you don't want to be updated / rooted / recovery ?
Because our assumption was that you did want those things and that's the advice we've been giving
App reset? No idea, they changed how it works.
If you use search, there are other threads discussing that. Probably get this one locked
Edit. Oh so you mean the reset that forces OTA updates to be checked again? That was always considered a bad idea and it still won't help your issue of your ROM is modified.
If you want root, what I said is the best way bar none. If you want stock unrooted, fastboot flash system.img to clean up your ROM.

You can't if your system is modified see above edit
You're not clear about your current status. Are you still rooted?

yes I worked it out and already told you it is universally acknowledged as a bad idea. Please answer previous questions.!!!

Well thanks for helping me to help you. It's been a dream it really has.
Everyone else don't do what the OP has done. It has been linked to some pretty bad software issues... This was just a case of "OP knows best" unfortunately.

I just updated my phone to M preview 3 build MPA44I. Since then its been showing no SIM most of the time. Every time I have to reboot and its gets fixed. But within a few minutes its back to No SIM again.
Any one else facing the same issue or can I anyone suggest any solutions?
Thanks in advance.
