Anyone know how to remove the lockscreen security while using this? The "try a wrong password 5-10 times" thing doesn't work

Pretty sure because it's using VPN it will most likely require a pin.

Jeeab, when I was using this app on my Droid Razr HD it didn't even let me try that trick.. I did it over 75 times for good measure. Good luck getting it to work. But I am happy that I got my wifi back! YAY!

me as well, i cant believe you cant use your fingerprint which is more secure then 4 digits but not as secure as a complex password.

Will this work with lg g2 stock kitkat un rooted? If so does it cost money?

If you mean LG G2X then it's possible if you are running 2.3....
The app itself is Free. But the Key to unlock all abilities is $7.95.. Google is a powerful thing.

Worked for me! I have a non-rooted (obviously) stock 900V.
Thank you!

the only problem I have is, I got too used to unlock my phone using the fingerprint scanner and in order to use this app, you need to disable that and unlock with a pin # but I am happy there is an option for tether for us still on unlimited data

Leo. Root your phone with @geohot Towelroot and then install Xposed and X Tether. Native app FTW.

Use Android Device Manager
An easy way to get back fingerprint lock is to use the android device manager to disable the lockscreen lock outs. You also have to install the certificate first and do not remove it or you will have to do this again.

Found another quicker way to do this:
1. Goto google.com/android/devicemanager and locate your phone.
2. Click "Lock" and chose a new number password.
3. Type the new password on your phone and it will unlock.
4. Now it should let your change the lockscreen to anything, and foxfi will continue to work
Still working after restarting phone and using Foxfi

Apps using data

Is there a way to stop an App from using data? I mean, I don't want it to update constantly, or send and receive data, but only a particular app.
Your help is much appreciated!

Maybe turn on data saver on the battery and data manager menu itll keep things from updating over the network and use wifi only
Use droidwall,it's available in market.
But you need to root first.

There is 2 way you can do,to freeze the app so it won't running again using titanium backup pro or just block the internet connection using droidwall, but both need a rooted phone.
I use titanium to freeze att bloatware and droidwall to block access for some apps that keep running and using internet connection, since i use limited/volume base here.
What app that you want to block?

Is there an easy way to temporarily disable root?

A live TV app from my cable provider seems to be crashing on rooted system and only runs on non-rooted devices.
I am running ARHD and of course am rooted. Is there an easy way, lets say an app that can disable/enable root on the fly? I have heard of such an method for the S3 where you could disable root and it would be automatically rooted again on a reboot.
Thanks

You can disable root in Superuser. I saw this "trick" at androidworld.nl. It seems the solution. I hope it works for you, then it will work for me either.
You have also root keeper in tne market. Work nice for unroot temperally
Thanks guys, turning off super user in the super user app does the trick for me!

I was looking for this for a long time. So simple ... Thanks.
Hi guys I'd like to know if there has been any developments in this since the upgrade to4.3 and 4.4 superSU no longer has the ability to turn off root and the voodoo app only works on 4.2 or less.
Thanks in advance

[Q] Unroot question

Is it possible to unroot your phone without going back to the stock rom? My employer started offering wi-fi but only for unrooted devices. Thank you.
There have been miscellaneous discussions regarding hiding root, I would suggest looking into those first.
As well, if there is no software/app needed to be installed on the device there's no way that a wifi connection could detect root. So, how do they plan to find out if you're rooted or not?

They do have something that you have to install in order to use the wi-fi service. I hadn't seen anything about hiding root and will do a search on that. Thank you!

I work for a financial company so everything is extra secure.
I still don't understand why root access to your own device poses a threat so much that your employer doesn't want you connecting to wifi. Either way l, hope someone can help u hide ur super user status or connect to the network anyway
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Because companies like that are paranoid and think you may accidently or on purpose give them a virus, or have them. Android is not affected by a Win32 virus, and it may not even be affected by a regular Linux virus (very unlikely but I don't know tons about the ins and outs on that level).

Not sure if hiding su would work. A simple app should be able to determine that you have su binary even without gaining access (IMHO).
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda app-developers app
Yes it's possible, I have CM9 without root. SuperSu has an option to remove root I think it's just the app and the SU binary not sure. I would assume that they don't want a user rooted because it's very easy to packet sniff if you're rooted and connected to someone's WiFi

Thanks everyone. I found a few things that I am going to try and will let you know if any work!
Chuck
So I have an update on this. The app that my employer is using for this is AirWatch. I tried using the Temporary Unroot option in Superuser prior to installing it but my phone still came back as non-compliant. I know that the unroot worked though because ROM Manager told me that the phone needed to be unrooted in order for it to work. I am thinking there may be another app on my phone that it is detecting and thus causing it to say it is out of compliance. I am going to keep researching but if anyone has any ideas, please let me know!
Chuck
maybe it's detecting any of the apps on your phone that were granted su access....did you deny them SU access before hiding root?
I tried that and also uninstalled a couple of items but still no go. The only apps on the list are superuser itself and titanium backup as I deleted the others.

[Guide] Enable Tethering/Hotspot - Samsung S4 AT&T I337 (4.3 & 4.2.2)

Here are easy steps to enable tethering/hotspot on your Samsung Galaxy S4 AT&T I337.
When I was on 4.2.2 Xposed MODs that enable tethering worked fine. However, they don't work on 4.3, or at least that what I experienced.
***** You have to be ROOTED, otherwise, you will not be able to rename system files. ********
Here are very easy steps to follow. Works perfectly!
1. Go to Settings --> More --> Tab on Application Manager
2. Go to All tab (By scrolling Vertically)
3. Find AT&T Hot Spots and click it
4. When App info opens, click Turn off
Now AT&T Hotspot is turned off (The above steps just to ensure that AT&T hotspot is off
"If you don't find AT&T Hot Spots, then it means you dont have the app. That is good. Follow the below steps"
5. Use whatever app that allows you to rename system files such as ES Explorer or Script Manager ( Prefer Script Manager as ES doesn't give root permission on 4.3, until now)
6. Download the attached file and save to your phone. Know exactly where you saved it, so you can use it later on. ( I would have given credit to the person who ported the file, but i don't know to whom it belongs to. So, Thank you XXX!)
5. Browse to System/app and rename TetheringProvision.apk and TetheringProvision.odex . Rename them to any name that you want, or just change apk and odex to bak (This way, you can rename them back in case the steps did not work for you)
6. After you finish replacing the files, go to your folder where you saved the attached file and copy it to system/app
7. Reboot your phone.
As easy as that! Attached is a proof picture
Now go to your phone and enable Tethering. If a message popped up saying "There is a temporary network problem...", or any other error messages, such as call 611, don't worry, Tethering WILL BE ENABLED. Just click OK. within 5 seconds, you will see the lovely hotspot icon at the status bar
Enjoy it
While this is a very safe and easy steps, however, as it goes with all MODs and system changes, i claim no responsibility if your phone is bricked or other apps started to act funny.
Good luck
Does this also enable bluetooth tethering that we have lost all together. Like an idiot I am already paying at&t for tethering so don't need this unless it enables bluetooth so as to use with my gear. Thanks btw and excellent work.

Get your MSL for Android 4.3

Hey there,
Have you tried getting your MSL using apps from Google Play? It will no longer work. Why? As of Android 4.3 the MSL is no longer stored in your build.prop ro.ril.MSL. So the apps that use the command getprop ril.MSL will no longer work.
The solution? download the SPC/MSL Reader from flash-it-now.

Evidently the Note 3 and the S series are different enough to keep it from running. AT&T (N900A) stock, no root. Press read and it hangs. Have to turn the screen off, then on, unlock and kill.
I am new to the forums and im just wanting to get to know everyone and I am also wondering what a MSL is I could probably google it but I thought is get it from the community and try to get a feel for the place
