Hi guys, first of all I want to apologize if my english is not that good, you see, here in Argentina we speak spanish.
That being said, let me tell what's my problem:
I bought in Spain 2 weeks ago a brand new Nexus 5, that arrived yesterday. It was working just fine, I waited till the battery dropped to 0%, then charged to 100% and everything seemed to be working just fine.
That same night, I had the battery half charged and I left it charging the whole night, as I always do on any phone.
Today, when I woke up, the phone was really, really hot, and I wasn't able to turn it on.
I cooled it down, tried many combinations for many minutes of volumes up + down + power, or only just one volume and the power, etc, but nothing worked.
Now, when I plug it, the plug makes this weird ticking noise (quite rithmic I have to say), and of course, nothing appears on the screen. Yes I have tried to use another plug, to the wall and to the computer, but nothing is working.
What should I do?
Try holding down the power button for 30 seconds and see if itll boot up.

Well, I tried it already, but nothing.
Are you using the LG charger that came with the phone? And do you see the white battery icon on screen when you plug it in?

Yes, I use it, and no, I do not see it.
Yet, the phone, turned off and everything (while unplugged), its temperature went high again, that was weird.
I hate to say it, but it seems like faulty hardware. I'd send it back for replacement.
Really? Nobody can help me? I'm quite desperate

Looks like PMIC got toasted by broken charger. Don't know if it can be repaired, but if you have warranty you can return phone.

I've got a 4G Xoom, that I bought new about 13 months ago. It's been great to me so far. I had it rooted and was running CM 9 on it and had been doing so for about a month without any issues.
Yesterday, it was plugged into the charger and I happen to glance at it and it was doing some strange things with the screen, flashing on/off, black lines on part of the screen. I powered it off and left it alone for an hour or so.
Since then, it's been completely unresponsive. I've tried Vol Up+Power button countless times without it working. The charge light (white) came on briefly while plugged in, but then went off, never to return. The only reaction I can get is that after holding Vol up+Power causes an orange light next to the front camera to blink twice. That's it.
Any suggestions? Is it completly dead?

You may not need to remove the battery as several people have reported success with just slipping some paper between the contacts for 30+ seconds. You will need to open it up though and here's a post with info and pictures to guide you through that: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1578365
On edit: here's another thread with good info for you http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1528706&page=3
Good luck.
Well, I did the paper under the battery terminals for 15 minutes and still no joy.
One item of note is that when I plug the charger in, I'm not getting a white (or green) light. At least not much of the time. Occasionally, I can wiggle the plug a bit and it will light up, but I'm not getting to green at all.
I can put a multimeter on the battery leads, does anyone know how many volts/amps I should be reading?
Are we sure that its not just a crap connection with the charging plug. It is a wimpy little pin and my Xoom needs me to do a rain dance to get it to charge. I have to plug it in, wait a few seconds and then the white light comes on , but only if the wire is flipped back over the top of the screen. Another thought is I use Tiamat ics and there is an option to have the light on or off during charge and I think it is set to off as default, maybe you didn't set that up. I would bet its something stupid and you just need to keep playing with the wire and see if you can get it on. Good luck.

I am running CleanROM 2.1 with the CleanKERNEL and AOSP Blue Mod Theme on my GS3. It is overclocked to 1.70Ghz .It has been working great for the past 3 days or so I have had it set up like this. I took the OTA before re-rooting and reunlocking and before ever putting any ROMs on the phone. I had the phone on my car charger on my way to work this morning, after draining a bunch of battry streaming F1 practice. When I got to work, I pull the phone off the charger and we inside. When I went to check my phone, it was black. And still is. The phone was working fine while on the charger, but now I can not get it to respond to anything. I have tried to reboot, reboot to recovery, pull the battery, and have it plugged in. The only thing happening is the phone becomes warm while plugged in.
I have no flashed anything for 3 days or so. I don't know what could have happened. Any thoughts?? Please help. I am kinda freaking out right now.

This happened to me a few times but with a slightly different scenario. If i tried to power up my phone, it would give a brief vibration and then show me a battery sign with a big 0 on it (green battery image). No matter what i did it wont boot up. And my battery wasn't at 0% when it happened. I was able to get into recovery and restore a backup.
In your case, check if there is any power in your battery (or borrow someone's who has an s3) and see if you are able to boot into recovery.
Hope you are able to fix it. Good Luck.

Then it might be your battery as the other person mentioned. The bettery is either bad or the device is not charging it. Have you tired different chargers as well? It can even be your charging port...
Odin mode and recovery have nothing to do with your ROM when you boot into them. If you boot into that, it boots before loading your Rom.
Go to the Verizon store and just ask if you can try their battery from the demo unti or something if you do not know anyone else with an S3.

Don't want to sound like a broken record, but have you tried keeping your power button pressed for 5-10 seconds? Its weird but the brief vibration I got in my case was when I had it pressed for a good 5-7 seconds and then nothing would happen. Just checking if you have the same symptoms.

This is kinda where I am at. I feel like it is a hardware problem more then a software problem aka not my fault.
So what was the final outcome on this?
This happened to me a few weeks ago. I had my GS3 for about a month. Everything was stock. Never rooted or unlocked.
Its a hardware issue.
If you return your phone to Verizon they will give you a refurb.
I believe the phone gets sent to Verizon not Samsung. Since I wasn't rooted it didn't matter for me, but since you can't even boot into ODIN at the store they won't be able to tell that your phone is rooted so they will order you a refurb straight away.
Its possible that when it gets to the Verizon testing facility they will discover that its been rooted and expect you to pay full price for the replacement. I have no idea.
Good Luck
Sorry for not updating. I ended up getting a replacement phone from Verizon. Looks like some other people are running into the same problem.

I am not inexperienced when it comes to ROMs, rooting, flashing, etc. Been doing it since my Droid X, X2, Gnex and now n5.
So pretty much I installed purity ROM and franco kernel. I was really tired when I was flashing it last night so as soon as I saw it boot up I let myself fall asleep. The last thing I saw was the setup screen asking me what language to select. I woke up this morning and tried to turn the screen on. nothing. held the power button for 10+ seconds then tried to boot again. Nothing. FYI the phone was fully charged last I saw. I have the heat on so it's kind of warm inside. I left it outside on the patio for about 20 minutes to cool down. Still gets nothing. No response what so ever. No vibration, the backlight of the display doesn't come on....nothing. I tried plugging it in the charger, nothing. The battery icon doesn't show up. The backlight doesn't come on. I left it on the charger for about 20+ minutes. Nothing. Plugging it into my computer does absolutely nothing. It doesn't show ANYTHING connected AT ALL. So no fastboot no adb (cant even get to recovery or bootloader) odin is out too. Literally 100% unresponsive.
Didn't think you could do that to a nexus honestly. Especially after all the hackery I did on the GNex. I didn't even do anything funny. Just flashed Purity + Franco (r14) I was waiting on r15.
Try charging it for a few hours (overnight).
I've seen this happen to a lot of people in the nexus 4 section.

Doesn't sound like it had anything to do with flashing anything, especially since you saw it go tot he language screen.
You've tried holding the volume keys while turning it on?
I honestly may have just been a faulty battery in the device. ran out of juice fast and now won't charge or power it.
I'd still try more holding power button remedies, etc.
Not sure that Odin would have ever helped you anyways considering this is not a Samsung phone.
Worst case RMA it through Google..

Yep its happened a few times with people with the nexus 4 too. The battery is at a decently high charge and suddenly it acts as if the battery is dead.
I have seen people fix it by charging the phone for a few hours though. Do you get an LED light when its plugged into the wall charger?

Absolutely nothing. Completely 100% unresponsive. I think it's done for.
Edit: Purchased from T-Mobile, not Google directly. I pay for insurance on the device. Stinks, but I think I'm going to have to file an insurance claim
Why do insurance when you can just do warranty claim at the store? Just take it back to them (especially since it hasn't been 30 days yet) and replace the device.
Did you try plugging it into a car charger in your car?
For some reason that sometimes works. I don't know why, maybe higher amperage or something.
You should try it!
This happened with my Nexus 4, All I did was leave it charging and that worked after quite a bit. At the time I re flashed it back to stock, not sure if it helped or not but I never had the issue again.

Hi all, have my xperia z3 for about two weeks, not rooted, not unlocked, without any modifications. Yesterday before sleep it was with more than a half of akku, today as im woke up and got it in my hands it was off, im plugged charging cable, was thinking maybe the battery was drained, but nothing happens still, its just blinking red (led).
Was trying to hold power + volume up, nothing.
Reset key near sim dont works for me either - i'm just notice 3x vibrations and thats it, its just repeat vibrate 3x times again and again but nothing happens, no boot.

Try to flash it with flashtool with an ftf file to the latest update and see what's happening, or just factory reset it with the pc also can be done with flashtool
Most likely the battery has drained beyond its limit Plug it in via wall and leave it on charge it could take 1-3 Hours for it to reach its limit until it will begin the charging Cycle, I recommend using the official charger that came with the phone

Not 3 blinks, vibrations i mean, the led is blinking red whole time if i plug it to charger or leptop, its just , no changes at all, its still blinking same way after being plugged whole night. After my Google researches im thinking the battery drained completely off so its in a sleep mode, but i wont try to boost it because of warranty i do have. I dunno if charging dock can play some trick in this case, my bro have one.
P.S. but yea, called o2 ready and they mailed me DAT Repair retour form, just had no luck this time, will be wisely next time, but as i said last i saw it alive it was like 25% charged, **** happens.

When you press Power + Volume Up, are you still holding it after the initial 3 vibrations? I mention it because on my old HTC One X, you had to keep the buttons down for 3 sets of 3 vibrations. if you released beforehand, the phone would not reset.

Hi, as i mentioned ready, i was only able once to get vibrations by using power + volume up, its somehow don't work with my phone, maybe cause battery have very low voltage/charge. Anyhow, im using power + reset key near sim, its works always still and i can repeat it endless, its seems, till the battery will just drain off completely.
But yes im tryed 3-4-5 more resets one by one but no progress :/
Even if i get it fixed i will send it to DAT/Sony anyways, its a noway solution for the price i paid .
just for a log: got replacement - Mainboard defect. Report says they replaced the Mainboard and therefore its imei was changed, but im sure its completely new device. Whatever its working and stable, and can be completely drained off without any bs about battery sleepmod, how its was mentioned by someone on these forums. Sure this may have a place but its should be completely controlled by software/hardware, so i dont keep my eyes on the percentage of charge alltime.
At least there root nocking at the door
Hi Guys,
I need help here. I can't send the phone back for warranty because I've imported it from else where. Also I didnt root it or install any mods or whatsoever. Running 7.1.2
I was just surfing the net, nothing fancy was loaded. It was in battery saver mode which means it should be in the range of 20ish% when all of a sudden it just shut down. Thinking it was perhaps low on battery and it shut down by itself I put it to charge, but there was no indication that it was charging.
I tried turning it on by holding on to the power button for almost a minute and nothing happens even when I waited for 10 mins and try again.
So i tried going to recovery mode but pressing power and vol. down button, after waiting for almost a minute there was a short vibration and thats it. And if I continue holding on to it, there was 5-6 short vibrations.
Is there anyone who can help me on this?
Thanks.

Is there anything I can do about it? What about the vibrations I get when I hold the vol down and power button does it mean anything?
Maybe test the charger on a different device to be certain there is power going to the phone. Then leave it plugged in, walk away for 1 hour. Come back and try again... I've had devices seem to be completely dead because there was literally nothing in the battery. Plugged them in for a while, came back, worked like a charm. Of course this might be a long shot. Still worth a try. Good luck!

I've had devices seem to be completely dead because there was literally nothing in the battery. Plugged them in for a while, came back, worked like a charm. Of course this might be a long shot. Still worth a try. Good luck!

Doesn't seem to work.. Any more ideas?
Couple months back my pixel turned off while using it and called support, they replaced it under warranty. I never found out why it went dead. I know this don't help..

Just a quick update. I found a phone repair company whom were willing and is able to try repair my phone.
Will be back to post their findings if they are indeed able to do it.
Did you ever get this issue sorted?
