I just got a moto g for my mom on ATT - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After ordering it from the Google play store I found out from Amazon that there are multiple versions. Should I be worried about hers working on ATT? Can she take the phone to other carriers?

Nexus 5 on Sprint MVNO confusion

Different Sprint MVNO's are stating they can or can't activate the Nexus 5 purchased from the Play Store. RingPlus has stated that if it's sold for Sprint they can activate them. Ting has stated they can not activate the Nexus 5 from the Play Store, but will be able to activate Sprint Nexus 5 phones sold by Sprint.
I'm on RingPlus and my hopes in ordering the Nexus 5 was so I could go with any BYOD carrier in the US. I got my shipping on the Nexus 5 from the Play Store already though
Does anyone know if this is BS? Or will the Sprint Nexus 5 phones only work with Sprint? How would an MVNO know if it was from the Play Store or from Sprint?

As of now, no one knows for sure...but we'll just have to wait and see from the people that ordered it and plan to use it on RingPlus etc.
As the phones come in I'll be interested to see how Sprint MVNO's treat them.
Ringplus
Seems like some are having success activating on Ringplus

According to the Ting blog at https://ting.com/blog/ they are testing the Nexus 5 now. They've successfully activated some using SIM's purchased from Sprint. It's a "stay tuned" situation.
Vice versa...
It's actually the opposite... We can activate Nexus 5 devices that are purchased from the Play Store but not Nexus 5 devices that are purchased from Sprint (which includes the models at Best Buy and on Amazon). We have several dozen folks with the Nexus 5 right now in our sort of open beta (well, really it started as more of an "open alpha").
There are some issues with LTE in certain areas, but otherwise there are folks with MMS, 3G/LTE, and obviously voice/SMS up and running. Roadblock right now is getting a Sprint SIM card, which are in short supply and are required to activate with Ting.

[Q] Buy Nexus 5 in USA

Hi everyone!
Well, I'm from Brazil and got a friend who is going to USA next weeks. So I wanted to buy a Nexus 5 from there, because here it's so expensive.
If I bought it from here, would cost at least $800!
He is going to Miami. So I wanted to ask you americans where can I buy it? From Google Play, it costs $399, but will be delivered only 3-4 weeks; he won't be there anymore :/
Is there any other local store from Shere he can buy it? T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint? Bestbuy, Amazon, or other store? Could you show me prices?
Other question, the Nexus 5 from USA is not compatible with band 7 (LTE), right?
Thank you all so much, and sorry for my bad english
Yes, the USA version does NOT support LTE band 7.
Frankly, unless you're in the USA, you shouldn't be buying the USA model. In addition, unless you're buying it from Google Play, you'll be paying more. No other store is charging the same price as Google Play.

Thank you for your quick response.
Here in my city, the LTE is not working yet, and I guess it only will work at the second half of 2014 :/ So this is not a big problem.
I can buy it at maximum of $450..

No.. at least not right away.
My understanding is that you can only switch after you've been on pre-paid for at least 6 months.
And trust me, if you are coming from a LG G2, you'll find the Moto G kinda slow, with smaller low-res screen and above all.. NO 4G !

Where to buy 4G LTE?

So three options (maybe only two?) for purchase of the 4G LTE (XT1045) model; Amazon, Motorola, or Google Play. I suspect that Motorola and Google Play are going to be the same. So that basically leaves Amazon and Google Play.
Is there any pros/cons to either site? I do see they both provide free shipping and the price is the same. I guess it would have to do with customer service and any warranty issues.
Where did you get your Moro G 4G LTE?

Google is not currently selling the 4G LTE version of the Moto G, but they may in the future.
I ordered mine from Amazon.

I tried ordering one from Motorola directly, but they apparently have a contract with Fedex which prevents them from shipping to a UPS store or PO box: has to be a home or work address (neither of which is optimal for me). Their shipping department is goofy So I just ordered mine from Amazon.
Thanks, just checking to see if there was any advantage of one over the others. But I guess Amazon would probably be the best source. Wonderful and thanks.

[Q] Question about Sprint's Moto G

Hey, I purchased a used Moto G 8GB by Sprint for my dad for father's day off of Ebay. I've never dealt with Sprint but when I bought the phone it said the ESN was cleaned... So, I thought I was good to go. My father uses Iwireless and they have a byop only for Sprint used phone. I tried registering the phone with Iwireless and to find out the phone has a balance of a unpaid bill from previous owner. I called Sprint and got no where they just gave me the run around. Also, they told me to contact the original owner and have them pay the remaining balance. So, is it a way I could mod the phone or my dad can use it for WiFi calling / mp3 player? I got a refund on the phone + I got to keep it.
Does Sprint have a Moto G? And on contract? I never heard of it. Weird.
I do know that there is a Boost Mobile (Sprint MVNO) Moto G, but its prepaid only so there can't be a unpaid balance. Hmmm... I guess, you should pay the balance or get a new phone.

Only reason I called it a Sprint Moto G because when I bought it off of ebay it said "Moto G Sprint" The version of the phone is HW Version: P3C and I google it and I do think its a Boost Mobile phone.
