Hello everyone,
just a curiosity question: as most of us know that google sell some of its products at bestbuy (chromecast, nexus 7 tablets, chromebooks, etc)
I wonder does anyone know that Nexus 5 will be available at Best Buy too?
Thanks!
I work currently at Best Buy and have heard/seen nothing about it unfortunately, the mobile section works a little different than the rest of the store, they don't sell non contract phones so it would be unlikely that they would sell the Nexus 5 unless AT&T officially carries the phone as well.

Dangg I don't like it..
i just wish i knew if it will work on sprint.. cause i have an upgrade now.. waiting to see if it gonna come to sprint
unfortunately i don't think the N5 will be sold through best buy. it would be cool to buy it through best buy so you don't have to wait weeks for Google to keep their inventory levels up( looking right at the N4)
As previous poster said that BB does not carrier non contract phones is correct, BUT it may be carried online.
But at this point I personally or anyone in my department (mobile) has heard anything about it being carried.
There's actually a decent chance best buy will sell the nexus line up. They are currently setting up some best buys with a "Google experience" sections similar too the Samsung mini stores.

Kind of as my store has the displays already, but they are more like end cap displays like the small ipad one. But it could be possible.

Correction! Best Buy can sell you a phone without contract! On that note, Best Buy has sold the Nexus S(not just the Galaxy Nexus) in the past! If I had to guess, I would say Best Buy won't sell it. But it's possible, seeing as the Nexus 7 was!
I used to work for BestBuy/Geek Squad.
They stopped selling or at least offering off contract phones. They used to sell them. They don't make money/margin from them.
They want you on a contract/upgrade to get kickbacks from the carriers.
Off contract phones don't sell well enough in the US enough to warranty the limited space in their stores.
They have to have items that make margin to stay alive, so space is premium.
Now should they sell them online, mabey, but you won't see it in a retail store.
Yes you can buy sku outright, but it will not sell for the $349 price as google is subsidizing that directly through the play store.
Now this time around with the Google End cap, it is a possibility, but based on previous Nexus Releases and Googles decision to stick with the playstore. I doubt that would happen.

BB needs to either commit, or GTFO. I just bought a HP Chromebook, and BB was my first destination: 3-5 weeks and no store stock is what I was told. Went to Play store, available with 1-2 day shipping. Will be here tomorrow from Lexington Kentucky. I know BB has a huge warehouse on the left coast, where these Chromebooks originally entered the U.S., so I don't understand how BB screwed up the logistics, but they aren't serving their customers by vacillating on stock and supply.

Not sure when you searched
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/11-6-ch...9070440984&skuId=2235039&st=2235039&cp=1&lp=1
my zipcode is 92692 and every store near me has it, not sure when you searched however I know HP didn't push out much inv until the 16th
As for Best Buy and the Nexus 5, My guess is unless google does a partnership with them they will not be getting the unlocked version, however might get a contract version with the top 3 carriers. I think we are all just waiting to see what Google does next.
But with a lot of new things happening between them

I'll be damned! Monday no one had it...now most stores near me say 3-5 DAYS (from weeks), and several stores across the bay claim to have stock. What a difference a few days makes...

That display has nexus 7 and Chrome cast on it in my store.
Best Buy Mobile WILL sell you a phone without a contract as long as it doesn't seem to be fraud. If you tell them you're putting it on your plan, and let them log into your account(whatever provider it may be), they will allow you to buy it. They actually do make margin selling the phone off contract, but they don't accumulate revenue on the backend since there is no activation through a carrier.

Never said they would.. In fact, on the first page I opinionated that they wouldn't be. I was referring to someone stating that Best Buy won't sell a phone unless it's activated with a 2 year contract.

Yeah, BB will sell you a phone off contract but they jack the price up higher then you can buy it anywhere else. Don't know why anyone wouldbuy a phone off contract there.
for all of us who cant get it via the play store , when can we expect it to be for sale on amazon? :fingers-crossed:
Well considering the Nexus 4 wasn't even available for sale on Amazon until a few months ago, your chances are slim. Plus on amazon it's individual sellers with large markups. You could try eBay, but again, there might be mark ups.
The best option right now is to go to Sprint when they have it on November 8th, and ask if they can sell you one off contract, and if it's GSM unlocked or not. Otherwise, T-Mobile will have it unlocked off contract also, but there's no pricing or release date as of right now. T-Mobile does have a email sign up for alerts when it's available.
Keep an eye on the Play store the next few days too. There's small chance more will come in stock, but most likely they'll sell out within minutes.

At the end of the official blog post, Google states that it will be available and other retailers, including amazon in time for the holiday season. So I expect 2-3 weeks max.

There's a host of information available here: http://www.reddit.com/r/Nexus5/comments/1pmrrr/nexus_5_amazon_release_monitoring_cooperative/
Do you know when B+M stores like BestBuy will have them in stock? thanks
I'm wondering this as well.... Also if I should get the 16gb or 32gb hmmm. Going to sell my HTC ONE towards it

Thanks for that link. Seriously considering canceling my play store order; probably going to wait and see for now. I'm on an LG Optimus L9 and it's kind of crappy but if I can get the phone for almost $50 less on Amazon if I wait a couple of weeks, that's what I'm going to do.
I just wonder if getting warranty replacements is easier if you purchased the device through Google directly as opposed to a third party.
On Amazon now... wouldn't recommend it though
http://www.amazon.com/Nexus-Lg-5-16...=1383275736&sr=8-11&keywords=nexus+5+unlocked
Yea, not sold by Amazon though. I think that's probably what most people are waiting on.
I have one ordered through Google Play, but I might cancel to get one from Amazon because I have Prime, and I have a lot of Amazon GC's. Didn't see that they would have it until after I placed the order. So I hope they start selling it soon.
Quick thing everyone, I know T-mobile and Sprint will get the phone but I don't think it will be cheaper because T-mobile sells the N4 for roughly $430 but Google was selling it for $300-$350, and if you wait to get it on Amazon it'll most likely be around the same price because the Nexus 7 is the same price on Amazon as it is on Google play, but if you have prime you can probably get the free 2 day shipping which is nice.

And not have to pay sales tax in most states
Hi everyone!
Well, I'm from Brazil and got a friend who is going to USA next weeks. So I wanted to buy a Nexus 5 from there, because here it's so expensive.
If I bought it from here, would cost at least $800!
He is going to Miami. So I wanted to ask you americans where can I buy it? From Google Play, it costs $399, but will be delivered only 3-4 weeks; he won't be there anymore :/
Is there any other local store from Shere he can buy it? T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint? Bestbuy, Amazon, or other store? Could you show me prices?
Other question, the Nexus 5 from USA is not compatible with band 7 (LTE), right?
Thank you all so much, and sorry for my bad english
Yes, the USA version does NOT support LTE band 7.
Frankly, unless you're in the USA, you shouldn't be buying the USA model. In addition, unless you're buying it from Google Play, you'll be paying more. No other store is charging the same price as Google Play.

Thank you for your quick response.
Here in my city, the LTE is not working yet, and I guess it only will work at the second half of 2014 :/ So this is not a big problem.
I can buy it at maximum of $450..

Best Buy, Sprint, and T-Mobile sell the 16GB Nexus for $450.
Maybe I'm missing something but why do I see the Moto G on Ebay selling for more than they cost direct from Motorola or the Play Store?
Maybe they are out of stock on Motorola/GP Store ?
Supply and demand

I bought it from an eBay seller for 2.5K more, 1.5 weeks ahead of launch. I badly wanted the single-SIM variant, which didn't launch in India, so I didn't mind paying the extra price to get it early.
i think Amazon is the best!
i like their support tbh
you can't be not happy with them
They do fetch good prices, maybe people dont realise the new price and that tescos and vodaphone are selling them for much less than the £129.99 rrp.
I've owned a Google Play white model for a couple months and recently acquired a T-Mobile Nexus 4 (black). GP is a 301k and T-Mobile a 401K. Both are 16GB. I'm going to sell one of them. Assuming I can sell both for the same price, is there any reason I should choose one over the other? Things I'm concerned about
1) Length of the Warranty left (purchase date difference is about 4 months).
2) GP warranty on T-Mobile phone (I.e. do I get a GP warranty just like with a regular Nexus?)
3) 401K vs 301
4) Any other differences in the device or service I'm unaware of.

Yes
Keep the 401k
Both are the same software/hardware wise
You have warranty from T-mobile and Google Play and LG
So, if I where to have any problems with the T-Mobile Nexus 5, I can just phone up Google Play and get it exchanged/whatever? And I get additional warranty from T-Mobile? Even if it's not under service (prepaid)?

No you can't. You can only call Google if you bought the phone from Google. (You can call them either way, you just can't get a replacement). You HAVE to go through Tmobile or LG if you buy it outside of the play store.
But the Google Play warranty is actually handled by LG, is it any different? I.e. is the coverage the same?

The coverage is the same, If you buy from Play store, google will entertain you or else you need to visit a LG service centre...
However, people claim (in other thread) that google doesn't care whether the device is rooted or not when you RMA your device!

I'll put it this way. If you don't mind refurbished phones and waiting a couple weeks, that's what LG does. Google will ship you a brand new phone overnight and you have to send your old one back. That's the difference. They coverage is technically the same, but the process is different. Tmobile does the same thing as LG, except usually overnights it (refurb).
Hmm ok that answers the question, I'll be keeping my white Google Play device.
