Any suggestion? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone..
Let me tell who I am not able to speak english very well ( Stupid Italian school)..
So ..
I would ask you if there is any cool Rom that is possible to have a better benchmark score and much battery's life than Stock ROM..
I have Rom Stock with Franco Kernel..
So i have many questions..
first: Do you suggest me any Custom ROM?
Second: Do you suggest me any better kernel as fast as possible?
Third: It's better Dalvik or Art?
Oh,i'm so sorry for my language,but..i hope who you are able to undestand me.. sorry
Thanks for all!
Have a nice day!

right above your thread is this wonderful thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/help/best-rom-kernel-threads-t2477889
anyways, since these threads arent allowed on xda, i suggest that you read up and try some roms/kernels. theres no best, only what fits you and your phone best. and only you would be able to figure out which it is. we all have differing needs and wants, and out phones all react differently to these roms/kernels, so spend some time trying them out yourself.

As simms said above, we don't allow these types of threads here. Try a few ROM's and kernels out. There are many great things happening in the development section.

Which 6.1 rom do you prefer?

Now that I think of it I agree with people about closing this thread. Alot of ROM developers put time and effort into making different roms. I intially just listed the major Roms I found in the WIKI thread but then realized that there are many more. Please accept my apologies for starting this thread and close it.

I fully agree
I don't know what is worse.
They fact that they don't notice the stickies at the top or the fact that they start the same "I didn't read the stickies at the top" thread as 700 other folks.
Not only didn't they search the answer, they didn't search the question.
I prefer the triple-23 rom.
You get it when your mom drinks while pregnant.
lock it. there r so many out there
I am asking for people opinions
If I didnt read then I wouldnt have flashed and unlocked my phone. I do read if you dont want to give you opinion then dont but dont flame either.

If I asked "who's rom is the most stable/fastest" I would be flamed and the thread would be closed.
Therefore, why is it ok for you to start a poll asking the same thing. Just because you start a poll it doesn't camouflage your inquiries.
edit: besides, don't you believe this could be discouraging to some rom chefs? Especially the names you did not mention and the chefs that receive lesser votes. All of them deserve an ice cream cone and a lap dance.
Thanks
Well I appreciate your response. If you put as much effort into trying to help people as you do bashing them then this place would be alot better. I am sorry that I just started using this device after switching from my mda. But when you started using this I am sure you had questions also. I am sorry you MUST be so SMART. Sorry to waste your precious time.

I was not bashing you. Just keeping you informed that nobody can tell you what the best rom is. You need to decide for yourself, which is why this thread should of been locked or not created in the first place. Sorry if I offended you and you did not waste my time. It is nice to have you here.

There is NO SUCH THING as the best ROM. Yes, we all have our opinion of what we prefer today. But that often changes tomorrow.

It is not a matter of being smarter, or wasting anyone's "precious time." This is a rom development forum, and as such threads in here are supposed to be related to rom DEVELOPMENT. I know it seems a trivial distinction to you, but to people who spend a lot of time here do get very frustrated because there is 5-10 threads a week asking "what is the best/fastest/slowest rom/radio/spl", and no matter how many of them are closed, or moved to the Kaiser General forum, people seem to not get the hint. I mean no offense to the orginal poster as i am sure you didn't mean to be inconsiderate of forum rules and ettiquette when you started the thread; however, intentionality is not a requirement.
The mods will eventually close or move this thread at their discretion however, so i'm not too concerned. Plus I know they're not terribly concerned about whether i think something should be closed or not. I am not a mod after all. Also, i did vote
Bush won by hidden electoral votes. No recounts.

Hello to all ,
Well i was jus siting and looking at all the ROMs around so jus gave it a thought that can;t we have a thread where is we post the name of all the current running ROMs for Kaiser which is most prefered and feedback to the chef to make it better..
i know i am really a Jr. to think so much for as i jus have a a new Kaiser.
But then jus give it a thought and post the ROM which is in your Kaiser/TYTN II / TILT ... and the one you feel is great..

It's all down to personal opinion, there are plenty ROM's to choose from, flash flash & flash till you find the one that you like...
You can aslo just check people sigs and the chefs get comments in there threads.
Hi, we are currently discussing the pros and cons of such a thread in the "About" forum here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=466666
At the moment I am using PDACorner v14. A lot of members post their ROM versions in their signatures.
As I said in the other thread, this sort of discussion is very subjective. I'd recommend you watch the forum and try some of the newer ROM's to get a feel for what you like. That's how I do it

I truely agree to what you say we aren't here to make others decide and impose the ROMs we like but to express our experience to the ROM we are using... and why we like the ROM we are using...

My thing is, I am rather new to the ROM-flashing thing. I've quickly learned alot about how to do all this, and now what I'm lacking is a cohesive sense of what ROMs are out there that I can try on my phone - I haven't the time or the inclination to scroll through dozens of pages back through the Kaiser forum looking for ROMs to try. It would be nice to have a single sticky thread where all the available Kaiser ROMs are listed (in the Kaiser forum, and other similar threads for other phones in the other forums) that just hyperlink to the appropriate thread for each ROM.
What that gives the Noob especially is a list of all the ROMs they can try. I'm just guessing that I've seen even 1% of the available ROMs. I have no idea if I'm choosing one I really like, or one I settle on because I can't find the rest.
It's really little more than a question of convenience. By having a single list of all the available Kaiser ROMs, it makes it easy for me to look at them all and choose one. Such a thread does not need any discussion to be allowed, it's just a source of information. If people want to discuss a ROM, they can discuss it in the thread that is linked to from the main list.
Does this make sense?

Trolling for regulars
vikasraj dont worry mate this board is chock full of regulars who belive that anyone who comes here should read every single post, of course it is perfectly reasonable to ask for a quick list of popular roms but that would be far too easy and lets face it give the sad regulars nothing much to read, I wouldn't pay too much attention to the regular users here apart from the flashing info, they really don't add much apart from stupid pointless 'read the board' comments, I am here to find a new rom (the last one all the regs said was great is buggy as hell) and yes a rom chart would have saved a lot of time. Like you I have a life.
Forum a dictionary meaning
A medium of open discussion or voicing of ideas
Did not the original message fall into this meaning.
By its very nature the posting of Roms is trying to compete with other roms.
So a thread that simply rates roms would be a good idea and give constructive comment and possibily the sort of feedback the rom builders are looking for and why they do what they do.
It would also help those that want to extend their experience, and not get frighten away by high minded comment.
Thats All
I suggest thread starter to just see the benchmarking of Kaiser ROM's done by one of Our friends out there in the kaiser forum. I will provide link whenever I get it but its better for now to search yourself for it. Go by facts & not by values. Hope it will help you. Good luck. I think we should move forward to help cookers in making ROM better.
Sorry but I could able to find only these ones.

Yup - it already exists, here.
It doesn't say much about the roms, but it's a fairly comprehensive list.

Why are we doing this again ? I understand that people are (especially it seems the noobs ) incredibly lazy. No one wants to do their homework, no one wants to test drive. no one wants to think. Everyone wants someone else(no matter what their qualifications) to tell them what is the best.
The chefs here do not make these roms for you or me. They make these roms for the challenge and for themselves and then they share them with us. How offensive would it then be , to subject them to a competition .
It would be like going to a Hot Rod or Custom car show and judging people's hours , months or years of artistic and engineering work with a dismissive " that one sucks, not enough cup holders " guess what ? It wasn't built for you, it was shared with you. Your opinions are yours, why should chefs be forced to confront these ( mostly uninfomed opinions ) in a public forum.
Every rom has it's own thread to rate and evaluate the rom, and to try to work out whether it is the rom that is at fault or the user. That is more than enough discussion for the chefs to improve the rom.

Although getting some people to actually do this .........( with 7 total posts ) one wonders how much effort was put into identifying the source of these " bugs ."
These are the type of comments we want our chefs to be subject to on a concentrated thread ?

Dave, if you are asking, I vote no, for subjecting our much appreciated chefs. to a beauty contest or prom king type thread for the benefit of the "lazy "
Just my opinion. Thanks for listening
this would be fine topic in the Kaiser generall forum. (alot of the people who hate these types of threads cluttering up the boards like myself dont generally read the generall forum very often I believe)
This isa rom DEVELOPMENT forum. Ie if your not either posting a new rom in development or about the process of cooking and development.....you should not start a new thread here. The Kaiser generall forum is a great place for this type of discussion.
also a good way to get a overall list of the most popular roms would be to sort this forum by how many posts a thread has....click at top. And that will continue to be useful as long as people only post new roms and development related topics in here.
This topic should be moved to the kaiser generall forum and it would be taken much better/ignored by the more senior members/admins

I need a Clean WM6.1!

Hi, i would like to test to flash my phone with a CLEAR WM6,1 now i use Clear WM6. Does someone here can give me a link?
thrashed!!
There is a Clean ROM by fireburned. Read the threads carefully before you start a new and unnecessary thread
Is it really so difficult to read at least the first page of the vox sub forum? You didn't even have to search for it!!!
A very good first subject, congratulations...
This is my request!
Seems you do not understand i need a clean version of WM 6.1 FOR me. Not for my phone. I want to try something. Is it so hard to read and help me if you have that clean version. I do not want modifies versions and so on. I need a simple clean version of WM6.1 . Can you give me a link? Is it so hard to understand?

Whats up with you people?
I totally understand it irritates people when someone asks a question which has been answered so many times elsewhere. But the attitude thrown at a newcomer with such a question is a little exaggerated (in a bad way). First of all, most of us use English as a 2nd language and as a result having a language barrier. And some of us can not even explain what we mean %100 right. YES they should search a little bit before posting. But what if they could not find the answer they were looking for, or did not UNDERSTAND which is quite possible. I mean have you tried to search Vox forum for little things? Such as how to do some tiny adjustment, modding? First couple dozen of the results you get are from cooked ROMs and those topics are very long (close to 100 pages) due to popularity of these ROMs. I am glad that it is like that, as I found fireburned's fabulous clean ROM that way. But requires quite a bit of reading and there is chance people can miss it.
So it seems, when people learn some, arrogance takes over?... Is that it?
Instead of writing some insulting comments to the poster of the question without any real answer to the question, Can I suggest not to reply at all. That way, you would not waste your precious time.
God, am I glad that my teacher was not like some of people here, so all my questions (stupid or not) are answered in a nice manner. And I am hoping to be the same way with my students.
I really appreciate all the good work you guys are doing here. But come on !!

Hi Shaunak.it,
I don't need to search for your posts to know that you guys helped a lot of noob's including myself. And I am grateful for that and appreciate it a lot. And I think your reply to this post (the first one) was good and maybe I would've written the same thing, as you referred him to fb's clean ROM first and also asked him to do a search first then post. Which is totally understandable. But that should have been enough as it already made the point. There was no need for anybody else to re-iterate the same thing over and over again. Especially the very first reply to this post was ridiculous. "Trashed" what the hell does that mean? Anyways, there is no need to prolong this conversation. I apologize if I make you feel the need to defend yourself as it was no attack on anybody. It was merely me being bothered by the treatment this poster got for his question. As none of us truly understood what he was really asking for in the first place. Clear ROM may mean fb's clean rom, or microsoft base for wm6.1 or whatever. Who knows...

[Q] The best current rom?

Hey guys,
Returned to xda after a long long time, had even forgotten my previous username/password so made a new id!
Quick question, which is the best current rom for desire s? By best I mean the one which is stable, the most lag-free and hang-free, and if possible, has a good battery life.
I've been on sabsa prime for a long long time now and it had a very crappy battery life and it hangs like a massive saturday morning hangover.
How is the [ROM][16 July][4.0.4][Sense 4.1 Full][OTA|HUB|Tweaks|v1.1.0 ModPack] SVHD v1.7.3 rom? I've done a quick browse through the dev forum and it seems to be the better one.
Any quick help would be much appreciate. I'll flash after the first 5 or so recommendations asap
These type of 'best' rom posts are not permitted on xda as you will get 10 different answers from 10 different people and can cause arguments. Please do not make these threads on xda.

I understand but how else am I supposed to figure out which rom I should use. I mean I can't go around installing every single rom and keeping it for a number of days to test them. that would take too much time.
one of the purposes of the fourm is to help people, right?
Can I request the mods to lock this thread, after exactly 10 replies? That would serve both purposes. Thanks

Actually, the sole purpose of XDA is Development. It is not a helpdesk for noobs - if you disagree with that view then that shows you haven't done much searching and reading yet.
Pick 3 or 4 of the ROMs which look best to you, install each one, test it and then move on to the next - that is exactly what we all do with our devices. The only person who can judge a ROM is you - some ROMs might work well for one person so they recommend, but you hate it or it kills one of your applications. Benchmarks are useless and serve no real-world purpose.
Just download, flash, try and see what suits you.

I understand what you're saying. I'd like to add that I'm in fact not a noob and have tried about 7-8 different roms on my desire s in a period of 3 or 4 months, towards the end of last year. I have a job now and no time for these things so I was just looking for a quick fix. Just some decent reviews from people who use the roms on these forums.
Please STOP posting here, you're ruining this thread and you're doing exactly what the first reply warned about.
If anyone wants to say a sentence or two about a specific rom, please post, otherwise don't.

You can "strongly request" all you like, but I don't think it's going to get you very far. Reporting this thread now

Looking at Custom ROMs for my Note 3, with emphasis on minimalism and battery life

I've been looking at Assasin ROM ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701444 ), seems pretty cool.
Any other suggestions?
Read, flash, see if you like. Repeat as necessary.
You stated the obvious, of course that is an alternative! . But hey, I asked BECAUSE I wanted to gauge the public opinion here on the Forum a bit . I mean, you guys here have been doing this for many months now and I would be thankful for a sip from your experience. Sure, I will definitely start trying out ROMs, but a few starting tips wouldn't hurt, don't you think?

"Which is the best" threads are not allowed on xda. If you want people's opinions, read around and look at their posts (and most post what they're running in their signatures).
You are expected to make your own decisions on which is best for you.

But I did NOT ask "what is the best" . If you scroll up and read again what I wrote, I asked for *SUGGESTIONS*. Even the thread TITLE does NOT mention anything about "best" or "top 5".
I want to know about what are considered popular ROMs, used by more than the ROMs author and a few others.

I did not ask for much and I maintained a polite and civilized approach, and I'm sad to see that people around here aren't as helpful as they used to be back in 2008.

I'm new to the rooting world friend, but of the two Custom Roms I've tried I like Kit Kat Killer over Cyanogenmod 11. I came from a Sprint Samsung Note III (SM-N900P). Give it a shot man it's awesome, it's got a bunch of cool wallpapers, a bad ass beastmode Kernel that reaches 2.762 Ghz and I like that you can actually still use the S-pen as opposed to CM11. Just a rookie myself but I say flash it man I'm happy with it. Peace.
Mod Edit
"Best" or "Recommend" ROM / Kernel threads are not allowed on XDA. Please test these things for yourself.
That is the only way you will get an unbiased opinion, and then, you can decide for yourself if it meets YOUR needs.
