Hi guys,
I have wifi performance issues with my Nexus 5 in combination with all routers. When running ac at 433mbps I get 45-60mbps on my download speeds. My internet speed is 180/18 so the 433mbps wifi should atleast perform in the same manner. I have tested my wifi connection with a manual dos tool (can't remember the name) and it gave 240mbps download and 160mbps upload on my local network. For internet speedtesting im using the speedtest.net app. Any other apps are also giving me 45-60mbps download and 17,8 upload. My normal internet performance hits 180/17,8 without issues.
I'm using the Asus RT-AC68U. Any suggestions on this issue?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I am using samung omnia I wm6.1
i tried internet sharing via wifi and i could only get maximum of 1Mbps.
but if i use USB sharing, i could get higher speed like 4Mbps.
anyone have the same issue? any setting to improve the speed internet sharing via wifi?
Hi, I used to tether all time without any issues on previous devices, but for some reason it's unusable on my N5. I did quite a bit of troubleshooting and can't figure out why wifi tethering is extremely slow.
My setup:
Nexus 5 running Lollipop 5.1, build LMY471
Macbook Air circa 2011, OSX Yosemite
ATT, LTE provisioned (have gotten 20-30Mbps speeds from the phone direct via speedtest.net)
APN set to IPV4 settings for regular/roaming - didn't change the default settings.
Not interested in rooting now (or using PDANet)
Here's my troubleshooting so far:
The phone gets direct speeds of 4-10Mbps from speedtest.net's app, which isn't fast but is fine when I need to tether.
I can replicate those speeds with USB tethering.
Bluetooth tethering and Mifi tethering result in speeds of 0.1Mbps, so slow that it can barely load speedtest.net.
I've also tested this with Bluetooth off on both my phone and my Mac, same results.
I've tried this from multiple locations with the same result, 0.1Mbps speeds.
I don't think it's a wifi interference issue since Wifi Explorer on my Mac shows that my signal is at 80% compared to 40% for other signals.
Also, if it were interference based then I would see more variable speeds instead of 0.1-0.2Mbps consistently.
Any suggestions for further troubleshooting?
Thanks!
I have an ASUS wireless router, and my wi-fi connection at home is dropping all the time (especially while playing Hearthstone, frustratingly). Is anyone else experiencing this and/or know how to fix it?
My experience has been that the wifi on my phone works great, leading me to wonder about either your router or your environment.
questions and things to try
1. Does you phone work well with other access points? i.e. is the problem only at home but it works elsewhere?
2. is your home a "noisy" wifi environment? i.e. lots of other nearby access points or other devices in the 2.4 Ghz band?
a. Get an app from the play store called Wifi analyzer (its free). You can see a chart with all the access points your phone can see and what chanel they are using. It can show both the 2.4 and 5 Ghz bands.
b. If your router is showing up on the same channel or a nearby channel as one or more other access points, try manually setting the channel on your router to something else that no one else is using or near.
c. If you router is dual band (i.e. has both 2.4 and 5 ghz) and you are using 2.4 Ghz, try using 5 Ghz. You can set your 2.4 and 5.0 Ghz to different SSID's (network names) so that you can easily tell which one you are connected to.
3. Do other wireless devices you have also have connectivity problems? Consider a new router?
I had problems with wifi dropping. I went to Comcast and swapped out my modem for a new modem/router and haven't had the problem since

I've had very poor speeds on WiFi compared to my nexus 6p. Annoying it's so slow

I suspect the issue has to do with my Asus router. Apparently Samsung devices and Asus routers don't play well, according to what I've read, but I have no idea how to fix it.
I’m struggling with my Xperia Z3 these days. It’s because of the WIFI speed issue. This happen suddenly when I access the internet through the WIFI connection. Internet speed is really slow in Chrome Browser, Facebook and other applications. But the thing is when I use the ookla internet speed test I got my full bandwidth in network connection (20 Mbps +). And I tried to update my apps through the google play store. Sometimes it’s not updating. Sometimes its download speed is 100/200 Kbps. And i enable my mobile data and disable WIFI connection. It works really well in mobile data connection apps also works charmly. So I have tried couple of things to solve this problem.
1. Clear cache + data in Google Play Store -> Not fixed
2. Re install marshmallows firmware -> Not fixed
3. Rollback to the KITKAT version - > Not fixed
4. Install WIFI analyzer -> Seems okay instats
5. Disconnect and connect phone to WIFI router -> Not fixed
6. Connect to my other WIFI router -> Not fixed
7. Change WIFI settings in phone -> Not fixed
8. Create WIFI hotspot using another mobile phone and connect to the hotspot -> Not fixed
But my issue is still exist. It's really weird. My other mobile phone works well in same WIFI network. So i really need to solve this problem. I'm really appreciate someone can help to my issue. Thanks.

Anyone knows about this issue?
Just found a clue
I've installed "Super VPN" to my mobile and i saw my WIFI connection become stable but internet speed is still slow. When i install app from google play store it downloading without drop the download. But 100/200 Kbps constant speed. Another option I've tried again yesterday, but i was done this before. Add google DNS (8.8.4.4) to my WIFI network. Then it getting more that 100/200 Kbps but not constant. Well i don't know the exact reason.
But i'm using Customized UK firmware version. But i'm living in south asia.
Router settings perhaps?
Does you router have a 5ghz wifi option? because I sometimes have the same issue when using 2.4ghz wifi, while 5ghz is always fine
@mantin36 and @bookworth I've two WIFI connections in my home, so both have same issue. Also I've tried every channel in one router. Still not solve this issue. Both routers are 2.4 Ghz. But the thing is this phones WIFI connection worked before like solid. After couple of days from the purchased date this issue happens. Any idea?
My device is almost 3-years old. Problem I am facing is that Whenever I connect to a wifi network, the download speed I get is significantly low but the upload speed is accurate. Let's say a I connect to a 30mbps wifi network, and perform a speedtest using speedtest app by ookla, it gives me download speed around 16-18mbps but in case of upload speed, it is 30mbps. The same wifi network speed has been tested by same app on different devices like redmi note 3, where both download and upload speed are same and its 30mbps. And this the actual 30mbps plan, both download and upload will be the same and it should be 30mbps.
Only my yuphoria is unable to fetch that kind of download speed particularly. I think my baseband is updated and using official LOS14.1. If you have any suggestion please share it.
