[Q] Couple of xoom questions i could not find answers for - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have searched for a couple hours and have not been able to find any answers.
I recently purchased a xoom wifi off craigslist, but it must have been a demo model, for the obvious reason of the demo randomly coming up and the fact that I can't lock the screen.
My questions are, how do I go about rooting and reflashing it without a computer? I don't have a computer anymore, have not needed one for a couple years now. I am not new to the whole rooting and reflashing thing, its just been a while. Any help you all could be would greatly be appreciated.

i am actually posting from a computer right now... i have not been able to find a viable one click root link. does anyone have a step by step video? its been years and im an idiot.

i am currently using this
xoomforums (dot) com/forum/motorola-xoom-hacking-guides/5078-how-root-3g-4g-wifi-only-xoom-stock-3-1-a.html#post6157
^it thinks its spam... replace (dot) with .
after [fastboot flash recovery recovery.img] the xooms reads [flashing stormgr partition recovery STATUS - done], but when i [fastboot reboot] the terminal on the computer is saying its done, but the xoom doesnt says on the fastboot protocol screen.
ideas?

[Completed] [Q] Alcatel 4015T Help on rooting my first phone

I'm really wanting to root my Alcatel 4015T phone, I've done many hours of searching around and have tried dozens of options.
The phone is obviously a no-name phone and a uncommon low-end model so it appears few people have heard of it meaning there practically no support for rooting it. To give more information its AT&T Prepaid Go Phone. I don't see OneTouch anywhere on the phone but the battery does have OneTouch printed on it so I don't know if they're connected just because its on the battery.
Its an adroid phone, meaning it has to be able to be rooted, even if there's no support there has to be a way to, and I'm passionately determined to find out how. I've been at this for a long time, many days, and have tried lots of options.
The closest I ever got to rooting it was telling it to reboot into recovery mode via adb which took it to a special fastboot screen, but from there the phone froze up and the battery had to be removed and re-inserted. fastboot utility acted like it was talking to it and working with it just fine, but the actual phone just sat there with FastBoot at the bottom doing nothing.
So that was the closest I could get to unlocking the bootloader and rooting it out of all the methods I tried. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Kingo Root didn't work, it said rooting failed. Are there any other ideas?
Hi there,
You can try one of the generic root methods at the top of the list here:
XDA Root Directory
If that doesn't help, you will need to ask for help here but first register an account on XDA:

[Completed] Please help, failed to flash Fe170cg... very serious...

I have a serious problem: my daughter start an update on the rooted tablet (FE170CG). Ofcourse, the tablet stuck. Well, I didn't panic. I've downloaded firmware from ASUS website, and start to flash it with fastboot. But nothing worked. Tried several firmwares, also from producer site, still nothing. After lots of desperate tryies I managed to flash something, but instead of k012 I discovered it waS a k017 image. After that I couldn't use nothing. The Droidboot starts, or in normal boot it loads the ASUS logo ant then stucks there. Can I test the consistency of partitions somehow, or the consistency of the data inside those partitions? Is it possible to be something erased in one of those partitions? Can anybody point me to how to get a diagnose to be able to guess what's crushed?
I can only use the fastboot. Nothing else worked. I couldn't use ADB, for instance, in windows. Also, in Linux I cannot connect the tablet. It shows in lsusb list, but thats all. Don't shows in blkid devices (mounted or not).. How can I solve this very tricky situation?

[Completed] I need help with restoring an ASUS Memopad HD 7

Hi all,
I bought a secondhand Asus Memopad HD 7 (ME173X), which turned out to be rooted, customized and unstable, so I am trying to restore it to what it was when it was sold.
I'm used to tinkering with computers but flashing tablets is not something I'm familiar with.
I tried to follow the instructions in post #5 of this thread, but I got the "brom error : s_security_sf_code_download_forbidden (6010) , msp erroe code : 0x00." error.
Searching the thread I found my question repeated in post #605, and answered in #615.
I am following this solution but I'm stuck at step 4: After connecting the tablet, Windows (7, 32-bits) (re?-)recognized the tablet during the download. At first, it was on COM4, now I have a duplicate entry on COM6: http://prntscr.com/andrqc (in Dutch). The progress bar in the flash tool was 100% but the timer kept going, but nothing happened further. So I had no alternative than to hit the [stop] button.
If I try to download it again, it simply doesn't seem to recognize the tablet when I connect it. I tried if I could boot it, but the tablet does nothing when I hit the power button.
help would be much appreciated
(Sorry for crossposting but on second thought, I think this subforum is perhaps more appropriate.)

[Completed] Tablet stuck on EFI Shell. USB ports disabled.

Hello. I'll try to explain my problem because I really need some help.
A few days ago, I was normally using my Tablet ECS TR10RS1 IntelĀ®.... I turned it off, went to sleep and the next day when I was going to use it again, the OS didn't start, so I tried and tried until I found a forum where they led me to restore a backup file because the original firmware/rom wasn't still available.... publicly. I tried that, but in the process, I accessed the EFI Shell... That wasn't trouble at all, I just plugged the keyboard and typed "exit", and then it let me to the BIOS... And that's when my real problem began: I restored the factory setting default... and it involves "disabling USB ports".... Now, AGAIN, I'm stuck on EFI Shell. But this time, I can not type "exit" since the keyboard is not recognized by the Tablet.
Then I pressed Vol UP + Power ON and I get access to another menu "DNX".... And that's what brings me here to your forum:
I was briefly reading that one of your members managed to flash the BIOS via DNX, so I was wondering if you guys could help me do that to my tablet because I'm not planning to have a really expensive paper holder.
Thanks in advance.
Jinky.
