Incompatible Shared User ID - General Questions and Answers

Hello fellow XDA members!
I have been having trouble fixing a problem with "Incompatible Shared User ID" error when attempting to install Google Play Services. This is for a little known Kenwood 4.0.4 unit that I have gotten Google Play Store recently working on.
I have done some research on this problem on XDA and found that the most common fix was to remove the <shared user id> field from a specific app listed in /data/system/packages.xml. My problem is, I do not know what the conflicting Shared User ID is.
My question:
How can I resolve the Shared User ID error that is coming up when attempting to install Google Play Services from the app store? Assuming it involves removing a shared user id reference from /data/system/packages.xml, how can I figure out exactly what or where the conflict is?
Thanks in advanced!!!

[Q] In-app billing and Apktool

Hello community !
I'd have a little question concerning signing APK and Google play billing.
Whenever I try to do a billing with a recompiled APK, I get the error "this version of application is not configured for billing". I signed it with jarsigner (not Sign+).
So I was wondering if Google Play check the signature of the App and if different from the original, refuses the service. Anybody already has experienced this problem ? Is there any way to fix that?
Thanks

[Q] Google play store not working

Hey everyone,
Title says it all really over the past few days over several devices and different users in my household we have noticed that Google play store isn't working properly, we are receiving errors, connections issues and general problems overall.
I contacted Google who didn't do much in all honesty and they advised me to clear the cache for the app on my phone and clear data on both app and googleplay services, which I have done but since doing so my okay store loads but I get the error message check you connection and try again.
I have reinstalled the app using the apk on here and still the same problem.
I'm not to worried about it as I'm pretty sure the problem lies with Google especially since its happening in several device (using different accounts and same accounts)
Is there a fix for this or is it Google causing the fault as I have searched the net and found people with similar issues. (isitdownrightnow.com)
Many thanks

Got this one solved for you mate, had the same problem.......... All to do with automatic time and date being out of sync with the play store. Go to time and date settings disable the automatic time zone and automatic time and date. change the date manually to say....the same date but 2013. go back to home, then go back to date and time settings, enable both time zone and time & date auto's, and hey presto........play store's back to normal.
happy days
What do you mean when you say "not working"? Do you get an error message? Does it simply crash/force close?
Did you do something to the devices between the Play Store working and not working? Did you change your internet setup somehow? Did you move to a different country? Did you start worshiping Lord Xenu?
Play Store needs to be a system app. You say you reinstalled it, so I'll assume your devices have root. When you sideload an app it installs as a "user" app. Play Store needs to be a system app. Use whatever app you used to uninstall it to change it to a system app (most root apps that can uninstall system apps have this feature...if what you used doesn't, you can find ones that will, some free). If this isn't the cause of your problem, we'll need more info to help you.

Google Play - Search not working - Help needed !

Hi,
I desperately need your help related to search on Google Play store. Couple days ago I realized that search is not working at all on my Google Play store. The same behavior is also on all connected devices to my google account (laptop, tablet, phone...) Once I switch to my wife´s account everything is working perfectly. It means that a problem is isolated on account level while the error message on Google Play is: "we couldn´t find anything for your search...." (see attachment)
I´ve tried everything (clear data, clear cache...) but nothing happened. Region/Country change is not possible on google account unless you move or change IP address. Is it related to some app that is running behind ?
Couple days ago I installed Google Family link to control child´s device but it was not activated nor changed default settings. Anyhow, I deleted such app but it seems to me that might be connected to that. Please help me in resolving such issue since my devices are now useless without Google Play.
Thanks a lot.
