Could anybody share his experience while using CM11 and share his battery consumption values (how much time phone can live without recharge)?
According my personal arbitrary opinion CM11 for Relay is wasting battery enormously! If using actively and extensively I should recharge battery almost in 6-10 hours. If in more light mode - in 20-24 hours. I think this is abnormal.

Define how you are using the device. Is this a wake lock issue or is the device draining "too fast" when you are using it? How is your device configured? Is GPS on all the time? What applications are installed?
What kernel are you using? Did you do a clean install? Are you dirty flashing between CM11 and the Liquid rom?

to add to this my roms should ONLY be dirty flashed with same rom..not my other roms or anyone elses...same should go for all other roms as well...its just a general given

No this is not wake lock. I'm facing that while actively using the phone. In the idle mode it can work up to 24 hours and maybe more.
How is your device configured? Is GPS on all the time? What applications are installed?

No, I use GPS rarely. Almost never.

Thus this OpenGL test result can be a mesaurement standard for me? If my result is less then some settings are wrong?

I just modify existing code to make a quick and dirty stress test. I'm not sending you my app or source.
There is a useful test that you can repeat easily. Build a video playlist in your favorite player of files that you have on a cloud service. Loop the playlist and let the device stream video until the battery dies.

And have you installed a rom that allows underclocking? It makes a massive difference.
I am now getting 20+ hours from my phone where as before underclocking I was getting 8 hours.
Same amount of usage, just underclocking when screen is off.
Erm.. I will go read about it, but because I want to retain as it is now, thats why I'm looking for an extended battery.

What kind of battery life do you currently get? Before (accidentally) calibrating my battery I was getting around 10-12 hours, now I'm getting around 36-42 hours.
I'm looking for one that can last me more than 1 day.

Well, I'm using the standard battery and have 26% remaining with "1d 10h" since unplugged (admittedly I haven't used the phone for that much in that time, just some internet usage, a couple of calls, but it's been constantly on WiFi or 3G to sync GMail).
Use SetCPU for underclocking, and use JuiceDefender to automatically turn off your data connection while the screen's off/locked.
It will still reconnect every 15 minutes to sync, and will remain connected as long as there's any continuing 3G traffic while the screen's off. Basically what it means is you're running one of the most power-consuming parts of your device only 1/15th of the time, which make a big difference. Text messages and voice calls come through instantly still - only things requiring a data connection like facebook, weather, twitter, etc will have any delay, and even then it'll only be 15 minutes at the most.
You can also try setting your phone to WCDMA-only, which means it won't be constantly trying to connect and maintain two radios simultaneously. GSM-only would be even better but depending on your carrier it might not work at all or might only work for voice.
With SetCPU try making a profile to automatically go into "powersave" mode when the screen's off, which will ensure the CPU never clocks up past its minimum speed during that time. It's still over 200 mhz, more than enough for anything you might want to do in the background. For normal operation, between 499 and 768 mhz as the maximum clock, depending on your preference, should be adequate and will save you a little bit of battery life as well all the time.
Also, download a widget to allow you to manually set screen brightness when you're indoors and the auto setting is useless. I have my screen brightness set to 15% while indoors and it's still plenty bright. I have the SLCD model, I don't know if that makes any difference.
My phone has been off the charger for 17 hours and 10 minutes. During that time, the screen was on for 2 hours and 29 minutes. I'm at 79% battery life with the standard battery.
Mugen 3200mah. Mine lasts a day with ease and heavy use.

Yours able to charge it properly?
A small update to my previous post... I'm now at 32 hours, 38 minutes uptime, 4 hours 44 minutes awake time (screen on). Battery just reached 60 percent. Stock battery.
Remember when you made the choice to buy an Android, you were in effect saying you wanted to have a highly customizable miniature computer. Just like when you customize [insert your desktop OS of choice] to suit your taste, you need to configure your phone in order to get what you want out of it - namely, better battery life than with the standard settings.
HTC's goal with the Desire was to have a showpiece, it runs very fast and it looks good doing it. But they designed it with frequent charging in mind. Since most of us here, I imagine, would prefer to charge less often, we just need to configure the phone appropriately.
If you want a guaranteed solution, try this:
- Install NextSense rom (it's free, latest version right now is 5.3 AFAIK, I'm currently using 5.2 still)
- Install JuiceDefender - it's free on the market and its default settings are, for a change, very intelligent and effective.
- Install SetCPU - You can get it free on this forum. Set it to "interactive" mode with a bottom speed of 245 and a top speed of 806 to start with. The default is 998 at the top, but 200 mhz doesn't make a big difference in this case except to help battery life a bit. Once installed, add a profile for "screen off" which sets the phone to "powersave" mode. This will keep it running at the minimum clock any time you're not using it. Nothing running in the background while you're not even using the phone requires more than the minimum CPU speed.
- Install the Brightness Widget by Curvefish. It's free on the market. Put its widget on your desktop and keep your screen brightness at 25% while you're indoors. 15% is what I use, but 25% is one of the presets so it's a bit easier. I have an SLCD display so the brightness I get on auto might just be different from what OLED gets on auto, I don't know, but in any case for me it's way brighter than it needs to be.
- Set your screen timeout to no more than 2 minutes
- Make sure any apps that sync data do so in a reasonable interval. +/- 15 minutes won't ruin your day for most things.
- Under Wireless & Networks, set your phone's connection to WCDMA-only (3G-only). For many people this results in an increase to both signal quality and battery life, since it allows your phone to only run one radio at a time, making a significant difference. If it doesn't work for you, it's as simple as turning it back to the default setting.
- Disable haptic feedback and see if you mind the difference. Making all those little vibrations takes power too.
- Finally (obviously) don't run a live background, but you probably already know that.
Doing all of the above takes an hour or maybe two at most to set up and the difference in battery life is tremendous. It's simple to do, I worked out all of the above on my own and I've literally only had the phone for 4 days now I think, never touched a smartphone before in my life let alone an Android.
Give it a try, you have nothing to lose, and it will probably save you needing to buy a battery. Or, if you still buy a double-capacity battery, it'll mean you can run for like a week on a charge.
edit: also make sure to get the latest version of the radio driver, I don't have a frame of reference for comparison since I updated mine right away, but apparently it makes a fair bit of difference and probably gives you a more reliable cell signal in the process.

"Ideal" settings are basically the way it's configured by default. You can't improve upon them much even by getting the "premium" upgrade unless your phone is rooted... but SetCPU is a better choice in that case anyway.
Just install it, hit "enable" after it's done auto-detecting your phone's capabilities, and you're done. It's really that simple.
Be sure to add it to your task killer exclusion list if you use one.
You saying the default option is for SetCPU or Juicedefender?
So just download the free juicedefender is good enough for me already since the pro version is more for rooted phones? (mine is not rooted)

Yes exactly. The pro version unlocks some more customization but ultimately won't add a whole lot to your battery life no matter how it's set up. I mean, beyond what the "regular" version does.
Hi, first to defend myself, I did search and found that everybody says good things for every kernel. So every kernel is best for Stock ICS?
I got confused. Yes I'am total noob and recently learned how to root and flash custom rom's.
I just want to hear your opinion for best kernel running on Stock ICS.
I need kernel that is good for the battery but also snappy for the system. I don't play games and I use my phone for calls, reading news, working on excel files, google maps, mail and taking pictures.
My phone is Nexus S GT-I9020T on Wind network.

Unless you want the functions third party kernels bring to the table, I don't see a good enough reason to swap the stock kernel for another.
That's what I was thinking. With Glados kernel I had problems with restarting after the screen turns of, also with Matr1x kernel. Also I read that there are restarting issues with IMO ezekeel kernels. Yes I know that probably the most stable it's the stock kernel, but there is problem with battery, I had more juice with GB and CMD 7. That's why Google paused ICS update on Nexus. But probably I will stick with Stock Kernel because for me it's better to have less battery for now instead random restarts. I hate when my phone it's not in perfect state.
Just managed to get ezekeels CFS on there and I get the reboot bug after going to standby.
Looking for updates but the thread is huge. Yet to try BFS.

You can try and turn off deep idle for your reboots.
Solves the problem 99% of the time (totally made up stat that could actually be true)
But actualy that function (deep idle) it's the most impotant thing in the kernel. It gives more battery time. Other thing are just fancy. More battery and no hickups, I dont need overclocking because I dont play games.

Deep idle gives more battery time under certain conditions (screen off but not completely idle, playing music for instance). It won't really give you more battery time if your phone is actually idle with the screen off.

Same here but not bad at least for me just one reboot since i installed yesterday when he posted. 2.1 kernel I never got any reboots

Pre-requisites are met.
So as I understood the battery consumption is reduced only if you listen music, because you can't do anything else when the screen is off. And the deep idle is working only in standby mode (screen off).

Deep idle only shows savings if there is tasks running while the screen is off VS the same situation without deep idle.
So for someone doing commuting (like simms22 for example) and listening to music for around an hour, they'll lose less battery with deep idle than without.
You won't actually save battery if your phone is actually idle with deep idle enabled.
It's not some kind of magical function that makes your phone use less battery doing tasks with the screen on, deep idle disables certain components of the phone while executing tasks with the screen off, instead of having it "at full speed" as if the screen was on.

No problem. I think Deep Idle is probably the mod by Ezekeel surrounded by the most misconceptions.
Most new users want it absolutely but don't seem to know why.
On His Glados kernel I noticed that Android OS was using 20%-21% of the battery and on the stock kernel 30%-31%.
Android System was using around 14% and on the stock around 19%.
Ok, have you decided to give the Glados 2.2 another go? I believe I have finally tweaked it so that it is stable for me.
Before I was getting restarts within 30 seconds of the screen turning off. I have cornered this (on my phone at least) to a problem with NSTools auto-setting the lower frequency to 100mhz. Changing it back to 200mhz and I have yet to see the system restart itself. Im not overclocked, because I dont see the point as everything is fairly snappy with this new kernel. I dont really play games on it so Im not fussed.
I did used NSTools and the frequency was set to 200mhz and I had system restarting on screen off. Using stock ICS with Glados 2.2
Also I had green annoying flickr on locking and unlocking the screen.
I just got upgraded from CM 9 stable to CM 10 stable and I love it. Only problem is battery life. I feel about a 10-15% reduction with the new upgrade. I've had CM 10 for about 4 days now. I don't want to touch the performance settings without knowing what I'm doing. Is there a way to change my performance settings to extend the battery life? Also has anybody played with a different kernel with CM 10 stable? Thanks

Don't worry about changing the cpu and governor settings. There is an option to set at boot. Make sure that is disabled, so if you have any problems a reboot will go back to default settings. I use the conservative governor, and have my minimum cpu speed set to 192. I've read that that speed is not entirely stable for many people, but seems to be working fine for me. That has been pretty good for battery life for me. I believe the default governor is interactive now, and the minimum cpu speed is set to 384 by default.
Do you just "feel" a battery difference, or do you have any actual numbers to back up that assertion? Keep a close eye on Settings / Battery and use Better Battery Stats to record solid numbers and identify what's actually eating your battery.
Also turn off google now location settings if ur not using it. They are really hard on the battery.

Have had the phone disconnected from the charger for 4 hours now and all I've done is 20 min with screen time doing a little bit of texting and facebook and my charge is at 75. I have the automatic brightness setting off and put my setting at pretty low.
The cell stand-by battery usage is 8% during these 4 hours. Should I maybe try another radio or is this normal? It lost signal for about 10 min today.
Just turned off google now and selected the conservative governor. Let's see if this makes a difference.

That's most definitely not normal, at least in my experience. Are you using the vanilla CM10 or some variant?
Some things to try:
Install Better Battery Stats (find the free version on XDA via a search) to see if any apps are causing wakelocks. This is a must.
Use CPU Spy or something similar to see if your phone is entering Deep Sleep. This is a must.
Turn off Google Now unless you actually use it
Turn off all unnecessary radios (WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS) unless you're actually using them
Turn off all auto-refresh settings in every app you have -- all social apps and weather are the biggies
For me, turning off the default auto-refresh in Facebook, Google+ and Twitter are massive savings alone, then Settings / Battery & BBS will help you locate the remainder of the headaches quite easily.
You might want to consider swapping kernels too, or at the very least reconsider your CPU governor and scheduler settings.
I would stay away from conservative governor you won't get much performance out of that, stick with what comes stock and use on demand.... even the default interactive sucks my battery down

I have noticed that my phone lost signal 4 times during the day for periods varying 5-10 min. I am currently on the I727UCLF6 radio. I'm thinking maybe I should try another one. Could that help with that battery maybe?
I have been thinking about switching kernels but I am a little doubtful because I don't want to mess up my phone too much since I so heavily depend on it. I loved the hotcakez kernel that came with AOCP, maybe i'll give it a shot this weekend.

Just do a nandroid backup of the entire phone first before installing a new kernel and your risk drops to zero. If you install it and it all goes to hell, just boot back into recovery and restore your backup.
As for radio ... if you drop signal that often and your phone is constantly searching for one, I suppose that could impact the battery, sure. Are you certain you're in an area with solid coverage, though?

Yea I might have to play around with some kernels this weekend. Luckily it is a long weekend so I'll have some time if I mess up
My phone will go from 4 bars and a good signal at -78 dBM in my apartment and then randomly I'll lose signal for abut 5-10 minutes. A restart usually does the trick or I can just wait until it regains the signal which can be frustrating. I never had any problems with my signal at home running CM 10 so that leads me to think that there might be some problems with the radio.
Just want to confirm that these are the 5 radios I can use for AT&T even though I'm running JB.

I've been using a UCLI3 modem I found on XDA a couple of weeks ago, it has been incredibly stable and strong for me. But as many people far wiser than me have said elsewhere, everyone's mileage with radios varies and it really just takes some testing to see what works best for you.

Hi I have used apps such as Greenify, Amplify, and Privacy Guard to get great standby time. Anyone know of any tricks to get better onscreen time? I seem to only get maximum 5 hours onscreen time no matter how long my phone is on standby. Any kernel/governor suggestions maybe? I have downclocked already to 1.9ghz. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you've already done all the usual things. Five hours SOT is pretty standard.

I think it has more to do with them not actually using their phones. People skew the results just so it looks like their screen on time is fantastic, but in reality they've just had their phone sitting on a table with the screen on but not being used. Are you on Lollipop or KitKat?

Yeah I see what you're saying. I'm in stock CM12S with stock kernel. The governor is currently on interactive, would changing that increase onscreen time at all?

The governor can play a part in increasing your battery performance, but only a little, interactive is probably a fairly good governor to stick with. You could try conservative but I wouldn't expect a massive difference. KitKat definitely got better battery life than Lollipop, I used to get about 6-7 hours SOT with fairly heavy use on KK, now on Lollipop I average about 5 hours.
Me too...I wonder what causes that 1-2 hour decrease even with the optimizations. Maybe the ART runtime vs the old dalvik on kitkat?

Oh yeah good point. Does that battery drain occur only when mobile data is on or all the time?
For me while on mobile data 3-4 hrs SOT, on Wifi is more like 5-6
I used default stock ROM (6.0.1), RR (7.1.1), CM 12.1 (5.1.1) with squid kernel but still my battery don't get even 3 hrs SOT with greenify also. I mostly use it for facebook and whatsapp only. I cant afford a new phone due to this. Plz help me. TIA.

No rom will give you that much of a increase, stock is the best battery in general but there is no way any tweaking will increase that significantly.
Sounds like you need to replace the battery...

That maybe your opinion, but I disagree... Facebook Lite with it's built in Messenger is essentially a specially written browser, uses far less memory than Chrome, removes ads from videos (in general there are less ads throughout) plus you can still get push notifications. I have been using it for months.
If I am "completely wrong" give me some proof. In fact, although the regular Facebook is not the best, it is hardly "mother of all battery sucker apps". It is a space and data hog, but it doesn't use battery any more than REAL hogs like Snapchat, Netflix, Amazon Shopping, SoundCloud, or Outlook, in fact if you do some testing it has less effect on battery than you likely think (granted 2-3 years ago this was different, FB used to be one of the worst offenders).
Regardless, the OP was looking for an app to increase SOT... unless you can lower the battery usage of the display, you are not going to see increases in the magnitude the OP is looking for, from 3 hours to 5 hours, or a 66% increase in SOT. No app change or ROM is going to make a change even close to that.

3 hours SOT with greenify is a little off. you need to watch for wakelocks. better battery stats or wakelock detector can be useful to you. and also, if you have greenified the apps that you use the most, it will reopen those apps everytime you open the app, that could do more harm than good. you can try shallow hibernation, or just install naptime and tweak the doze parameters using GeraldRudi's method and quit greenify for some days just to see if this improves.
Then again, your battery could be the culprit, that's always a possibility
about ROM's, every ROM has it's merits, but Motorola really knows how to optimize their ROM, so for now, I think stock ROM gives the best battery life, even if that is marginally better than custom ROMs.
Kernels: Stock moto kernel is very efficient, but you might get a little bit more battery life with squid kernel, it has a great governor that relies on voting mechanism, plus it's just perfectly undervolted to get you some extra battery. probably a 15-20% difference than the stock one.
1) Use AOSP-CAF based ROM like Tesla.
2) Flash squid or Firekernel
3) Reduce the Max Freq to 1152Mhz and Min to 200Mhz
4) Use IntelliPlug Hotplug (Turn off Touch Boost and set Screen off frequency to 400Mhz)
5) Install Force Doze app and add Facebook, WhatsApp and other Battery consuming app to blacklist (Remember you will not get notifications from those app if screen is off).
6) Don't charge too quickly, always charge to 100% and plug when it discharged to below 10% (Recommended to charge at night).
It will improve your overall battery backup and somehow SOT.
At last i am totally agree with @acejavelin Facebook Lite app is made for low memory devices so it consume less memory and also less Battery. Also it's fast and have almost every features.
The real problem here is the device is going on 2, maybe 3 years old... the battery is at it's limit and will need to be changed to get really good SOTs.
My Moto G 2015 used to get 5+ hours SOT easy... not it's barely 3.5... and this is a backup device, it has NOTHING installed in it at all but it was used regularly for 18 months. The battery is just not what it used to be and if I am going to continue to use it as a alternate device I will need to replace the battery. Like it or not, these devices were not designed for more than 2 years of service.

downclocking the cpu is kind of redundant and saves less power than what it takes. the reason why for some users min-max is a battery saving governor. Besides, the performence hit is greater than the battery gained which is not at all more than 2% probably.
you should not fully charge your battery. you can, but the best practice is to charge upto 80%. And anything bellow 25% is not good.
the issue is either wakelock or dying battery, no tweak is going to save him if the underlying issue is not fixed, moreover, doze is the most sophisticated solution to save battery till now, downclocking, hotplugs these are pointless unless one's usage is known to us. I'd suggest to have doze editor if you must have a doze interface.
You can use aosp caf osprey by Ahmed hady...it will give 6 hrs plus sot from moderate to normal use..
