Orange Spain service Gt-p5100 - General Topics

Do not take your tablet to Orange Spain service!
What happened to me was , the tablet started rebooting, powering of and all sorts of weird things, it was stock, nothing done to it!
I took it to Orange in Mallorca and they kept it there for 1 month and when i got it back it worked for 5 minutes, i finally took it to Samsung and after another month they told me it was out of warranty because somebody voided the Os on it... went back to Orange and they told me they sent it to some person they know and that they can give me the address and phone number and i can take it there myself..
I tried talking to Orange but they said it's not the company's fault and at the end after long calls and arguments i finally gave up ..
So right now i'm writing to advice anyone to take it directly to Samsung if it's still stock ..

Random Black Screen

Recently my S710 developed an annoying habit of having its screen randomly go black. It's not that the screen actually goes off, since there is still a back light and you can still see very faint image of what should be on screen if you look at it from a certain angle, but not enough for it to be useable.
It started happening after I flashed my rom to Gonzo's Mona Lisa, but I think that's more coincidence than anything else, since it happens with all the ROMs I've tried.
It's not a constant thing, either. It doesn't happen when I do anything in particular. I have noticed, weirdly, that when it does happen while I'm trying to write a text message, turning on caps makes the screen visible. As soon as I press anything else, it goes blank again. I usually just have to wait for it to return by itself. This is, as you can imagine, pretty annoying when you're trying to write messages.
I hate to think this, but reckon it's a hardware problem? I am really loathe to send it in for repair, I'm sure it will cost a fortune.
Hi i got the same trouble,
it became too anoying to use the phone
but the only solution is to bring it back to repair center because they have to change the mainboard and then you get an new IMEI number too.
hope you still have a warranty of the cellphone on it because it's almost the price of the phone if you wanna to be fixed the problem.

Have you installed Mesh?
I have noticed that this only happens when the Mesh client is running.

No dont know even "Mesh" so i m sure it was because the hardware, so decided after 2 month of having the problem to bring it back to the store and there they send it to a repair services after 4 weeks i got it back with a new front cover and new lcd module but the problem was still there and i had to wait another 4 weeks to get it back from the repair service and then like i said in my first post i got a new mainboard with a fresh new IMEI Now i m back with a new phone but i waited 8 weeks
so i dont think it's because a software . Because i tested 2 month before sending it to fix the problem (with warranty )

Hm, How long is warranty? A year? In that case, I do have a warranty. Sounds like this is gonna be a rollercoaster ride, especially considering how reluctant people in my country are to do anything without trying to make it seem like it was your fault.
If you want to take advantage of the warranty, you will have to flash back the original ROM of course.

Yes you have to restaure the original flash, and the warranty is 2 year because mine it had 1 year and 3 month old when i to it to the repair service
for the problem they can not fix it in another way i m sure of that so i guess it's not your fault at all or you have to ask a new one
hope you will go ASAP to the repair service

Oh, I have flashed back to an original HTC rom just out of curiousity that it might fix it . Thanks, I'm sure I'm on a pretty big mission here.

Verizon Knowingly activated my phone with a custom ROM

So my HTC VZ6900 (Vogue) was acting up two days ago and I could tell it was a software issue and has not done any real research on the device till yesterday! Here is my story...
HTC started acting up while at school on Monday and was not doing great. I tried a soft reset but nothing worked... Booo. I tried removing the battery and waiting a few minutes and it took an entire 90 minutes + to get past the WM 6.0 screen! Once it got to the today screen the touch feature was none responsive so I could not really access anything. Soft keys worked. Couldn't get anything and the phone would not connect to the network.
Tuesday morning I took it to the Verizon store before I went to work. I had brought my old phone because I was not sure what was wrong. I personally thought it was a software problem, and figured that if that was the case Verizon would hard reset the phone or at least give me a replacement. Wrong. The clown at the desk took my phone and word for word quotes here: "Ah, yeah this thing is dead you’re going to have to get a new phone. Oh! Wait you have insurance you can pay $50 and they will give you a replacement."
I am a studying to get a PHD in electrical engineering and my gut told me this was not the case... So I said no thank you to the insurance and ask him to switch my phone to my old phone that being my old envy which still works perfect. When I went to leave they tried to take my HTC touch to which I protested and they complied. To work I go...
Well it was a quiet day so I had lots of free time and decided to Google VZ6900 problems, after about 10 minutes of searching I came across XDA-Developers! Did a little searching and saw that some people had similar problems. Figured out how to hard reset my phone (This was not a problem all of my contacts were saved to windows live!). Phone resets and it’s like brand new. I had seen these ideas of Custom ROM's and decided to do a little reading. After about 20 minutes I decided that it would not be hard to upgrade my ROM, loaded coke loader and followed the Verizon directions, 20 minutes later BAM running WM6.5 custom ROM. Hm I began to wonder, will Verizon be so nice as to activate this for me? I know they love to lock everything down so that they will get paid. I walk back to the store at 430 and proceed to wait 25 minutes to talk to a different person. I was explaining that their Tech earlier had told me the phone was broken beyond repair and that in fact he had just been lazy and refused to even attempt to fix the phone. They did not like this one bit. They told me I would have reset to the original Verizon settings. Though what he intended was that I needed to run the Verizon ROM with its own customization. So I asked the guy if he could get the other Tech who had helped me earlier to come into the conversation and he was somewhat upset at this time, but complied.
"Hey your back, oh wow this is the new Windows Mobile Cool!"
"Yeah I spent the better part of the day fixing my phone, now switch my phone back"
"Um... I do not know if I am supposed to do that. Um."
"Remember this morning when you told me to file an insurance claim for a broken phone?"
"Yeah, don’t have to do that anymore but I cannot activate an unlocked phone"
"Yes but telling me to file an insurance claim for a broken phone when it was not actually broken is insurance fraud"
"Oh... well we are not supposed to do this but I'll make an exception"
Two minutes later that had it all up and running and I was out the door without any problems.
Thanks to everyone who has contributed to the information I used, it saved me a great deal of time!

HTC RMA Repair time... [UK]

Hi everyone, I had to send my HD2 to HTC for repair since the Touchscreen failed. I sent the phone last Monday (23rd) and they received it on the Wednesday (25th). My HTC Ticket tracking says they've received the phone, but nothing else. It hasn't been updated in a week which is annoying me since my spare phone was damaged over the past weekend making it impossible to make calls.
I sent an email to their email tech support asking for an update a 2 days ago and still haven't got a reply. I know we've just had a bank holiday, but I've heard people say it can take upto 5 days for a phone to be repaired then shipped back to the customer, is this true?
Just want to know peoples experiences and how fast they got their devices back.
Thank you!
Past experience is that it'll take 10 working days regardless..
Fair enough, I just wish it was kept updated, the status still hasn't changed and it's coming up to those 10 working days. It wouldn't be so bad if my spare phone didn't get damaged last week. What about any one else, 10 working days still or has it been longer in some cases?
Dropped my HD off to them with newton rings, they neglected to email me the update page so I waited a week, called up, was told it was still being looked into, waited another week, called up, again told it was still being looked into, called back a week later, was told they were waiting on me to send them £184 or tell them to dispose of the phone! Finally got the link out of them so I could tell them what to do, apparently this wasn't possible over the phone.
Demanded my phone back, was informed it would be waiting for me, went to the repair centre in MK and created a scene until they returned my phone as they claimed they knew nothing of it, was not happy as they refused to honour the warranty.
Took it back to CPWH to let them try and get HTC to repair it, they sent it off, 3 weeks later it came back saying "no fault found" so was advised I could either let CPWH send it back to HTC and hope they actually read the fault report sent with it, or claim on insurance and get a new phone delivered the next day, I did the latter as I was totally fed up by then.
Geeez, sorry to hear about that, I hope my experience is better than yours! I've just got a status update saying the phone is currently being tested. I hope they fix it, the problem seems quite obvious when the touchscreen doesn't work, but it does work sometimes which is weird. Any one else got any more experiences?

Got replacement tablet but will not boot

So, my old tablet had the Y1 battery, and today i got the replacement. Unfortunately it did not respond to power on, screen remained totally black. Tried to hold it for nearly two minutes, but still nothing happened. Left it on charger for 30 minutes or so, and charging light was green. Nothing happened still when trying to turn on.
Contacted Nvidia support and they told me to do the same as i already did. Still did not work....
Was told to fill out RMA form, but since i live in Norway i have to pay 25% customs tax each time a new tablet is sent to me.
Annoying, at least. Any suggestions on what to do?
My replacement received a kill signal it seems. It was working then one day rebooted, went through boot process to a black screen, and then stopped powering on. I tried the recall number they were dumb and told me to file a warranty RMA, eventually they took my info for a manger but I never received a call back. I filled out the customer support form with nvidia and they sent me a canned response about how to reset the tablet. Eventually I escalated and asked some higher ups at nvidia to get me in touch with someone who could look into why a tablet accidentally received a kill signal, before other customers have the same issue. Two days later I have a new tablet in my hands. A RMA is probably all you can hope for at this point.
There have been a few "RMA replacement accidentally killed" reports.
When I get my replacement, I'll be flashing the nomoreota kill switch killer first thing onto the new tablet before letting it onto my the network so it never has a chance to be screwed up.

Well, my replacement did not receive a kill signal since it did not boot at all. The screen shows no sign of getting power. The tablet was completely dead from the beginning.

Knox Lock Out Issue

I have been a die hard iPhone user since the 3GS came out. After all this time I have come to the realization that I have been over paying and getting shorted on every phone I have ever bought through the fruit company. Today I purchased a used Galaxy S6 for $100 for someone. When I checked it out everything appeared to be in working order. I even searched the IMEI to make sure it was not blacklisted. Well to my surprise after getting home and 2 minutes on WiFi I got a message telling me to log into Knox mobile environment. The phone will not allow me to do anything except turn it off and reset. I tried a factory restore on the phone and by downloading the MDA file and using Odin. Is there anything that can be down? Not a good way to start off with Android...
