Backing up Whatsapp - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey there!
So I just bought my new Nexus 5 and am absolutely loving it. Without further ados, I backed up my whatsapp convos from the older phone, copied the Whatsapp folder to the internal storage of Nexus 5. However, when I install Whatsapp on Nexus 5, it doesn't ask to restore backup .
I tried clearing data and cache, reinstalling and recopying the backup.Any idea what I can do or how I could copy my Whatsapp convos to Nexus 5?
Thank you

[Q] Restoring Nandroid Backup to replacement Nexus 5

I just recieved my new Nexus 5 from Google. I unlocked it's bootloader, rooted it, and created a nandroid backup so that I could have TWRP create the proper folder structure. I then created a nandroid from my old Nexus 5, placed it into the TWRP folder of my new Nexus 5, and restored everything (with the exception of the EFS).
Now, whenever I go into the play store, I cannot update or install any apps because it says "the package is invalid" or "couldn't install on USB storage or SD Card" depending on what app I try to install/update.
I even tried clearing the google play services data to no avail. Has anyone been able to figure out how to fix this?
I assume it connects you your mobile network without issue?
If so try wipe data and cache then restore data only

Yeah it connects to Google services without any issue. I"m thinking it may have something to do with the new Nexus 5's different Device ID?
Normally a Nandroid restores fine as long as you didn't restore Efs

Yeah I tried that and still get the same error. When I get home, I'll backup my device ID from my old nexus 5 using TiBackup and restore it on my new one, see if that fixes it. Otherwise, I'm at a loss here

Issue with music after a restore

Hi guys.
I've got a nexus 5 running CyanogenMod and I had to restore from a backup. Before that my main SD card was wiped.
Since the restore I've found that Google music and Apollo only seem to see the old music listed in my music folder and not the latest stuff. Is there something I can do to clear this?
I've tried clearing the cache and app data for both apps but it hasn't worked.
Any ideas?

[Q] Titanium Backup and .obb Files

Hello,
I have been using Titanium Backup for a few months now. And The only thing that bugs me is that It Cannot Backup .obb Files and Restore it, Respectively.
And I am not talking about backing up Games with over 1 GB of .obb file. I only want to backup 2 - 3 games with .obb less than 100 MB. But Titanium backup can't do this job? I have a pro version.
If I am missing something, please correct me.
thanks.
anyone?
I can only assume .obb files are possibly data files. I've seen them also within many apps. I'm also a pro user. TB might just be limited even in the pro version as to what files it will backup

TB Backs up OBB files for me. Idk if the bug is device specific or even if it's a bug, but for sure TB can backup obb files.

I don't even see an option to backup obb files in TB. I tried to send it to TB but that didn't work. While I'm not questioning it I don't see the option anywhere

There's one option to include "External Backups" But it doesn't/ NEVER works for me. I have tried to change it to "Always" but still no luck.

Oh ok. I don't have an external SD card in my Nexus so that option won't even work for me

No not a SD card. I think "external" here refers to data files in TB. As claimed by some users. However, that function does nothing on my Galaxy S5. Dunno if it can't support the phone or if its some bug.
titanium website says that It doesn't backup obb files
"Note that Titanium Backup only includes external data that is stored in /sdcard/Android/data/ directory. Some files like the OBB files are big and are downloaded straight from Google, thus never contain user generated content. These files are NOT included and are NOT considered as app external data by Titanium Backup."

Whatsapp backup

Hello there
I got some serious issues on the S6 with the backup of my messages from Whatsapp.
Normally i use Helium to backup all my apps+data. Nowadays since Whatsapp has been part of Facebook this aint possible anymore.
So i went the regular way, the backup messages and then copy the whatsapp/database to the new phone after installing whatsapp (Whatsapp is ofcourse already installed on the S6)
It asks me to restore, i press yay!!!! All of the sudden it says it was unable to restore the messages.
I tried many ways, emailing, through pc etc etc with the file to my new phone.
I dont know if the file has been damaged through transfer, but normally you need to use your Sd card. Wich the S6 does not have!
Ok so i went to my girlfriend her phone and copied her backup to the S6 and tried aswell. Also doesnt work.
Anyone here with the same issue and a fix?
I really want my messages back restored but it seems impossible.
Please help! I will thank you gratefully with a Thankyou!

Have you tried copying the entire folder over?
Yes i have. Took me a while since there was 2gigs on media.
But it still says that it was unable. Somehow the file is corrupt probaly everytime.
I have copied my entire WhatsApp folder over 3 times and it's worked fine every time on my G920F. First I did it from my Galaxy S4 onto the S6, and the other 2 times were from wiping the S6 clean and starting fresh. No issues, it restores just fine.

Titanium Backup deleted my backups

Hey guys,
I just upgraded my Nexus 5 to Marshmallow, I was successful in restoring my sms, call log etc, however it was hanging at 0% when restoring apps.
I did a google search and one of the suggestions stated I should change backup location from Filesystem storage to DocumentProvider storage.
I pointed TiBU to the Titanium Backup folder, it asked if I wanted to move my backups to the external storage and all my backups then disappeared, I've checked from within titanium, I've used the search function as well as manual browsing using 2 different file managers, connected the phone via USB, and to no avail.
Would appreciate any advice
Thanks

Has there ever been a solution to this problem? Got the exact same issue and don't understand how this can happen?! It asked to move the files and now they're all gone?!?!?! I would be really happy if anybody knew how to solve this since I'm quite desperate at the moment...
