Hello,
I have been using Titanium Backup for a few months now. And The only thing that bugs me is that It Cannot Backup .obb Files and Restore it, Respectively.
And I am not talking about backing up Games with over 1 GB of .obb file. I only want to backup 2 - 3 games with .obb less than 100 MB. But Titanium backup can't do this job? I have a pro version.
If I am missing something, please correct me.
thanks.
anyone?
I can only assume .obb files are possibly data files. I've seen them also within many apps. I'm also a pro user. TB might just be limited even in the pro version as to what files it will backup

TB Backs up OBB files for me. Idk if the bug is device specific or even if it's a bug, but for sure TB can backup obb files.

I don't even see an option to backup obb files in TB. I tried to send it to TB but that didn't work. While I'm not questioning it I don't see the option anywhere

There's one option to include "External Backups" But it doesn't/ NEVER works for me. I have tried to change it to "Always" but still no luck.

No not a SD card. I think "external" here refers to data files in TB. As claimed by some users. However, that function does nothing on my Galaxy S5. Dunno if it can't support the phone or if its some bug.
titanium website says that It doesn't backup obb files
"Note that Titanium Backup only includes external data that is stored in /sdcard/Android/data/ directory. Some files like the OBB files are big and are downloaded straight from Google, thus never contain user generated content. These files are NOT included and are NOT considered as app external data by Titanium Backup."

I uploaded my apps to dropbox because my current Nexus S broke. When I got the new one I could not restore my apps. I rooted the new phone and installed TB and DB and did this:
With Titanium Backup 3.6.4 (or above):
If your backup folder is empty, then with you can simply switch to the Schedules tab and hit the “RUN” button in the “Sync to Dropbox / Box.net / Google Drive” section to download all backups from Dropbox / Box.net / Google Drive back onto your phone.
The downloaded files show up in TB, but when I go to run all missing apps with data it says 0.
Sorry for the stupid question but I already did the searches and other than this I came up empty handed.
Just move the TitaniumBackup folder to SD. Wouldn't that be faster? Maybe something got corrupt from DB to TB.

Your backup may have been corrupted if moving to SD didn't work.
So I downloaded a few apps and tried it all over again but with less apps. Same problem. I'm doing something wrong or not the right way.

I think something must have been corrupted, because i have done the same thing repeatedly and never had any problems. I just copy the TB folder from the sd card to a new location and point TB at it. I have done this from my evo, to my nook color, to my wifes epic touch with no problems. Since i dont ever save system apps i dont worry about restoring incompatible files. Only app that ever has a problem is Swype keyboard. I have to download that one new every time...
Yeah, but everytime I do it with a new set of apps it still doesn't work.

So I learned I have to set the preferences in TB and tell it where the backup file is. Anyone else know what else I might not be doing?

Using Backup&Restore Drop-box plugin on Word-press is really helpful. It has Unlimited dropbox backups, Unlimited dropbox restores, Unlimited local backups and Unlimited local restores.
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to move APK's from a Verizon Galaxy S3 to the TF300t?
I need the AllShare / AllShare Cast with Dongle programs to work on my tablet like it does on my phone.
Thanks in advance for any help.

The apk files for non-system apps are usually located in /data/app, but you have to be rooted to see anything in that directory. If you're rooted, you can copy that apk off to your SD card or even upload it somewhere with an app like Root Explorer. Then you can copy the apk to your TF 300 and make sure you check the "unknown sources" box in Settings - Security & Screen Lock. Then you can click on the apk on your tablet with a file explorer and it should install. Good luck.
You can use Titanium Backup too. Just backup your apps on your phone then install TB on the tablet and copy the TB folder from the phones SD card to your tablets TB folder. I highly recommend installing the apps without data. After you're done installing the apps using TB, reboot and you'll be good to go.
That's the easiest and fastest way to transfer A bunch of apps at the same time.

You'll just re-install Titanium Backup, then restore the file it created on your SD card.
Titanium Backup
Ok it took a reboot but it did show the apks.
However none of the 4 will install. AllShare Play, AllShare Widgets, AllShare Services, AllShare Dongle etc.
Any other ideas. They all must be linked specific to Galaxy S3.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks guys

hello
I move from Nexus S to Nexus 5
I am familier with TWRP and backing up my device
but i have never had to clear almost half of my storage for backing up my device
and i used to fill it with lots of app some of them with additional files over 1G (Asphalt 7 for example)
i can guess it maybe because of file system or something like this,
as in the Nexus S you connect your system to the computer in a different way and could move apps to SDcard and now everything is in the same place so the "data" get very large
so what one should do? should i uninstall large apps ? should i move titanium backup files ?
it all sound ridiculous to me cause it misses the point of the backup
please Help
what do you expect with so much data? enable compression in twrp recovery, maybe itll be a smaller of a backup? my backups are about 2gb in size.
i expected the backup not to backup unimportant files the same as it does not backup photos and videos.
games files and other large file should not be backed up as they have no meaning the game will download them again after restore if it needs
is there a way to install game sto the SDcard?

games are installed to your "sd".
apps2sd hasnt been done on a nexus since the nexus s days. thats because they only gave a limited amount a space that you can install apps to. nowadays youre only limited to the amount of total storage space the phone comes with. and every time i restore a backup, my game data gets restored as well, so i dont have to redownload it.
Twrp backs up /system and /data ignoring the sdcard 'section'
Moving your Titanium Backups will do nothing to save your space from your backup because the backup is saved on your sdcard section
Sent from my Nexus 5
if its better for you, clear the data for those large games then make a backup. then redownload the data.
ok thanks
i cleared the play music cash save myself a :1.5G
but still data is 2.9G
i am looking for the other large files right now
keep on with the ideas please

on that you need to add the /system which is 1G itself so it is still close to 4 giga total

My CWM backups are just south of 1 gig. Granted I don't have a lot of large apps like games on there. With CWM I just mount OTG via recovery(actually it self mounts) and backup to my Meenova card reader. Its got a 64GB micro sdcard in it so space isn't a concern. It might be an option for you. You can also just use a cheap USB to Micro USB cable and a spare memory stick that most people have laying around these days.
You can do fine grained backups via Titanium backup if you don't want backups of the whole system. Otherwise just plugin an external USB stick and save your backup there. You just have to mount it. I've got enough space on my external sd in my galaxy note 2 so I never tried but I just had a look in TWRP and I saw that I just have to select the destination for the backup on the otg device so I think it would solve your problems and you should just try it. Hope this can help you. best regards Martin

Please tell me you haven't been dumb enough to check the properties of /data
/data/media/0 is a mount point of the SD card partition 8.45GB is what everything on your phone is minus /system
And no sdcard by default doesn't get backed up in twrp when you back up /data that mount point will be empty.

Hey Everyone,
If I go onto "My Files" on my Galaxy S4, I see there are at least 40 folders and probably 10 are ones that I know of, rest of them are apps developers such as "Halfbrick" so I had this question, is there any way that I could move all applications under one folder or whatever, rooted and unrooted (I'm currently unrooted)?
Thanks,
Nandish
These are probably cache files, that store temporary data controlled by a certain application. I don't know but these folders are created by apps, to store data, if you move them into another folder it'll result in a possible reset of the app? (Loss of data). If its on the root of the SD card, it has data for the app.
If its in the android folder, you can delete most of the folders excluding games as it will most likely have important data. Best way to clear up this is to go into Settings>Storage>Clear cache.
Don't worry about these folders, they are just folders with data information on the app. Well that's my theory and so far its been supporting me.

I know what they are (this sounds rude but it's not what I mean, I mean that I understand that they're important) but I guess there's no way to move them into one folder?
Thanks anyway!
as said, you cannot move them into another folder or delete them.

I had the same problem, i followed the guide and got my device wiped, the secure way....
Note: You'll get all your data (including sd Card! )
You'll loose anything custom you've installed (but not the flash counter)

I seem to be having the same problem as this except(android.stackexchange.com/questions/61531/removed-storage-emulated-0-file-and-lost-access-to-all-files) there was never a solution. I tried remaking the folders and restarting the phone but that didn't work.

Soooo you wiped internal storage? Pictures are gone... Best bet is to try Disk Digger or some similar app and see if it works. Also make a backup next time before you do whatever you tried to do as to avoid this situation in the future.

I was going to, except to make a nandroid backup or backup in general using custom recovery I need to go have more than half of my sdcard be free space (since it back it up to the internal sdcard) and I only had like 500-600 MB free I know you can move nandroid backups to the computer to free up space, but I do not know if I could backup straight to computer since N5 has no space.

From my understanding, a nandroid backs up everything on the selected partition. So /system would save your ROM and its settings, etc. Normally on a phone with a SD card it won't back that up, but the N5 only has internal memory. Backing up /data won't save pictures and videos you took?

It's not possible..
You're scanning the drive for actual files on the drive that no longer exist in the filesystem. Think of the file system as a database that tells the OS where the files are. When you delete a file, it doesn't really get deleted. Just the database entry about it.
The files exist whether there is a database entry in the file system or not but if you think about it, unlike files , the folders don't really exist on the disk.. When you create a folder, it doesn't really create a folder on the disk. It just reflects the "location" in the database. Folders don't exist on the disk so they cannot be restored. Restoring the files just adds new entries to the file system. It cannot find the deleted entries and reconnect them with the actual files
Hope this clarifies what you're seeing
