Lte - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I seen where mystery ROM has what is called LTE mod. Does anyone know what this means? My phone had trouble connecting to LTE on a certain tower and I thought maybe it was something that might help. Thanks to those who may reply

sounds more like a buzzword that they are using. like adding lines to the build.prop and calling it their LTE mod.

oh, lol

There is a menu to change how often the LTE gets scanned for. With sprint a person would use ##3282# and it would take me to the menu with an HTC evo 4g LTE. So I'm sure all phones have this menu. I just don't know how to get to it with nexus 5.

there is a menu like that on the nexus 5, which only works with sprint, and is disabled for all other networks.

I use t mobile. But there has to be a way on all carriers to change how the phone scans for LTE. I read that it scans once every half an hour. Bit I can't find where I found that. Lok

MATR1X 18
OCd 1.2 ghz
V6 Supercharge Script
3g signal strength -65 dBm

So you know the guy who made the supercharger script? He also made a 3g supercharger. That actually helps. Try it out.

Not sure if it works, but you might want to check the HSPDA Tweak to see if this is what you want:

I don't think HSPDA tweak will do much on a CDMA phone.
Noted. Thanks for clarifying.

The wifi afterburner (it's in the 3g supercharger script) is awesome too!! I did a ton of tests with it, and my speeds went from 8mb/s average download to 15. It got up to 21 for a couple of tests too (this was repeatable).
It's pretty awesome!
I can't seem to run the 3g script as root....how do I do that?

My results (while not quite impressive) have been great from average .3 mbps to 1 mbps with bursts up to 1.7 mbps. Not what one might call fantastic but considering where I was...I can finally stream Netflix to my TV (without much waiting )
When I run the script it says afterburner not installed even though I have applied it. Am I missing something?

[Q] Verizon Turning off CDMA

Ok so i'm having an issue, I use my phone to tether as my main internet connection. Before with my x2 i was able to turn off CDMA and use EVDO only. So text wouldn't cut off my tethering date. On this phone i'm in EVDO only mode but i still get text messages :/
I dont think i can get phone calls in evdo only but the text still mess up the internet. This is weird
This phone does data and you can use the phone at the same time. Not sure about it while tethering, shouldn't be a difference though.

I was under the impression that this feature only works while on 4g is that not the case?

Always works. Its a qualcomm SoC thing. Rezound and thunderbolt could as well. Kind of silly to jump to conclusions like that without actually seeing if it hurts anything. I've answered phone calls while playing black light online.

Its not really silly, with the x2 if you got a text or a phone call you lost internet. Everything i read said it was because of the verizon network. so i figured it was every phone. Just what i read and was told by people on here and verizon.
New to Verizon.. if I understand correctly you're saying this phone can do voice and data? Even on 3g ?
I thought Verizon's network couldn't do that. If the previous statement is correct then can we use the international dialers that have video built into them ?

I thought the same thing, But i guess that was silly of me to think....... lol Really though idk what samsung did with this phone but on 3g you can do data and voice at the same time. i'm kinda surprised. I know nothing about international dialers
Like I said, its a qualcomm SoC (system on chip) thing. What I'm saying is silly is that you already claimed the txt messages hurt your tethering.

I also came from ATT so this is a nice surprise for me.
as for the dialers, I know there are dialer apps out there (which generally come from non US phones) that have video calling features built into them, is there anyone watching this thread who could tell me if it would be possible to get one and make use of it? and would it require root to replace the dialer app? (I'm guessing it would)
thanks

How to force LTE to turn on?

I've already selected LTE as the network mode under mobile network settings, but as I type this I'm on 3G. I know I get 4G in this area, but it's not exactly the best. My goal is to stay connected to LTE even when the signal is worse than 3G. I did this on my Galaxy S3 by toggling the LTE setting that CyanogenMod 10.2 allows you to do from the quick settings panel, but the stock Nexus 5 ROM doesn't have that option.

It should prefer LTE all the time. Make sure your APN is correct for LTE on your carrier.

In you dialer, enter *#*#4636#*#*, after that you should see a menu popup, select phone information...scroll down and you should see a drop down menu, change from the default GSM/LTE to LTE only

I could be wrong, but I think doing that will not allow you to get calls or texts, because those run off gsm.

Did you find a fix? I'm having the same issue where it's not sticking.

LTE scan

Can someone tell me how to modify how the nexus 5 scans for lte.? I would like to change how often My phone scans for LTE. I was able to do this on my evo 4g LTE so I figured it would be possible to change on the nexus 5. I'm having problems connecting to a certain LTE tower and I figured I'd give this a short to see if it makes a difference. Thanks to those who might reply

It goes into the normal call screen, but doesn't ring or anything. It just says "Called Ended" It will end the calls even before they are connected. Also when people call me they tell me that it just goes immediately to voice mail, it doesn't even ring on their end. :silly:

Try going to the app drawer, go to the phone app, tap and hold, and drag it up to "App Info" then try clearing app data and cache and see if that works.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
This is usually caused by someone forcing LTE ONLY on their device. You cant make calls over LTE so it is looking to switch to 3g/H and it cant. You need to check your settings:
open dialer
*#*#4636#*#*
Phone Information
LTE/GSM Auto (PRL)
