Any tricks 4 faster 3g data Crespo4g? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

With all of us that use this device there has got to be someone that has been able to speed up their 3g without moving or putting their contract at risk by messing with their PRL. If you have any ideas please post.
My set up:
NS4G-Sprint
AOKP M4 KL2 baseband
MATR1X 18
OCd 1.2 ghz
V6 Supercharge Script
3g signal strength -65 dBm
Current average download speed .1 to .3 mbps (ouch)
Thanks for any help forum.

So you know the guy who made the supercharger script? He also made a 3g supercharger. That actually helps. Try it out.

Not sure if it works, but you might want to check the HSPDA Tweak to see if this is what you want:

I don't think HSPDA tweak will do much on a CDMA phone.

The wifi afterburner (it's in the 3g supercharger script) is awesome too!! I did a ton of tests with it, and my speeds went from 8mb/s average download to 15. It got up to 21 for a couple of tests too (this was repeatable).
It's pretty awesome!

I can't seem to run the 3g script as root....how do I do that?

My results (while not quite impressive) have been great from average .3 mbps to 1 mbps with bursts up to 1.7 mbps. Not what one might call fantastic but considering where I was...I can finally stream Netflix to my TV (without much waiting )
When I run the script it says afterburner not installed even though I have applied it. Am I missing something?

[Q] 4G Speed

I rooted the phone and without a custom rom i get the h+ with the check mark. But I get no connection.
So I tried to install a custom mod and now i dont get the 4g speed i get an h with an up down arrow but I can connect to internet.
Can anyone help me. Please
Make sure the battery cover and sd card/sim card cover it on. Check settings>wireless and networks> mobile networks, and check your apn settings.
the h or h+ is irrelevant.
rooting procedure breaks the h+ connection. known fact. cm7 speedtest=.62 megabits down. .12 up. stock s on in same spot= 2.30 megabits down. .76 up.

Then there is something wrong with your flash. CM7 gets me the exact same speeds as any sense ROM.
Custom ROMs do NOT have the h+ icon. That is all it is. You may have to edit build.prop to get the 14.4mbit connectivity back. But no towers can even go near that fast right now.

This man speaks da truff.
Yup. LeeDroid's rom shows 3G for HSPA, and H for HSPA+, from what I can tell. I've had it cycle through the icons after a reboot. I haven't messed with a rom yet that had the H+ icon.
I just got 1514k / 1321k using the Gingerbread version of Android Revolution. Mine only shows an "H" icon.

While I know you weren't asking me, I too used Bubby's tool and my speeds are as fast as can be expected based on the time of day. I've seen as high as 3.79dn and 1.5up.

I personally used the hack kit before bubby's came out.
Custom ROMs tend to remove the H+ icon, so all you will see is an H.
The speed varies on some ROMs. Edit your build.prop and reboot twice, and you should be good to go. I got 2.5ish on stock ROM, I get 5+ now.
GL!
I know mine varies all the time depening on the time of day. Used bubbys on 3.5 rev rom and have seen 4.6 and 1.9.. it varies though
Waiting on the new gb we will see what speeds we get there

I think they are working on the towers here in my area.
I did notice the speeds are not 100% all the time, they jump from 2 - 6 Mbps depending on time of day / weather / and everything else but knowing the phone "can hit 6" makes me feel better about "when AT&T" gets everything going it *should* be pretty fast

I'm not 100% on this, but I'm pretty sure if you make it so it uses 4G instead of H it'll display 4G when you are connected to 3G. It's just the way CM7 works since they are HSPA and HSPA+. My theme has separate 3g, H and 4G icons, but the phone always uses H no matter if I'm connected to 3G or HSPA+ (At least I can't remember ever seeing a 3G icon). But if you want to, the png files are in the SystemUI.apk under /res/drawable-hdpi/, and you can rename and drag & drop the png files no problem. No resigning or anything required since it's a system app.

Yea 4G and 3G are the same on Tmobile. That's why on stock you go from 2G to 4G. We don't even have 4G in my area even though it says its connected to 4G.
Kinda silly if you ask me but for this to work, you would basically replace the "H" icon with a "4G" icon.

okay so i have eaglesblood 2.7 (based off of cyanogen mod) and i have the 4g sign. i want to change it to the H so when i apply themes it doesnt mess up the status bar. i tried using the OUTkitchen and flashed it. still has the white and green 4g icon. i have used ninja morph and changed the icons myself and still they end up as the 4g. i want to know if there is anyway i can change it, or make cyanogen think im running h or 3g. because the h icon is in the system framework and in the system UI.apk

[Q] Extremely bad internet speeds after rooting

Hello, so basically I have rooted my Speedy from 2.3.4 by using the bootloader unlock method posted by VICODAN in his tutorial but now I find that I am having insanely slow download/upload speeds compared to before rooting.
I have flashed the latest radio after finding THIS thread and I also tried the method from HERE to try and at least boost my speeds. I have also updated my profile and PRL through my Sense rom but nothing seems to help.
If anyone could give me any advice I would greatly appreciated it. I am on MikShifted-G v2.1 running dodgekernal v1.6. Thanks in advance.
I would also like to know if there is any way that I can go back to the stock 2.3.4 GB.

Well I've found that your speeds depend on what time of day it is. I know that's BS, but it's what I've found. Posted some Screen Shots Below of my Speeds.
The only time I get decent speeds from sprint is at night. Like 2am night.
You could also try the 3G Turbo Charger. You'll find it on THIS thread. Just make sure to read before installing.

Maybe you had roaming enabled in your old/stock rom and it's turned off be default in your new rom?
Well the thing is that I had perfectly fine speeds in my area prior to rooting.
I downloaded the "Network signal speeds booster" and "Fresh netowork booster", both from the play store and I am having almost back to normal speeds now, there was a dramatic increase in speed after I used both of those.
But I have also looked at the 3G Turbo Charger thread that prboy linked and I will definitely be trying that as well

Well I've actually redone the Tests recently. Certain times of the day in my area must have some Heavy Network Traffic. Because the Network does slow down at the same times daily. But only during the week . Strangely enough I just noticed that I posted the wrong Screenshot . Although I do have to admit I'm not exactly a Scientist .
Haha yeah, but thats good to know, and yes, kinda weird that you would get faster speed on weekends you would think that it would be the other way around.
But anyway, thanks for sharing your results, I've done some tests recently too and they seem to be following a similar pattern...so even though you may not be a scientist, there is some truth to what you said
Sent from my PG06100
Yeah it's really bad from like 5 to 8 PM... You wanna see good 3G speeds, get on there at 3 or 4 AM, crazy good speeds cuz nobody's using the network... Except people like me who set stuff to download before they go to bed LOL
My 3g is really bad and it does not matter what time of day. 4g does not exist here, I am going to try 3g supercharger this weekend and see if I can make some progress.
Sent from my PG06100 using Tapatalk 2
I've had good results with the 3G TurboCharger. It just took a few tries before I found the correct setting. Downloading the App Speedtest.net will help you dial it in.
Tried 3g supercharger without any sucess. Perhaps someday the signal will get better.

You can change the PRL without QSPT if your on a Sense Rom. Check out THIS Guide. Just be warned using certain PRL's can get you into issues with Sprint because of constant Roaming. Also you may want to do a search for the latest PRL's, as the ones linked in the post seem to be bit old.
