What different ways are there to copy folders between two different nexus 5's?? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want to transfer two folders from my SD card download folder on my n5 to my sister's n5..
I tried turning on NFC and touching the phones, but I didn't see any way to transfer the folders.. Same for Bluetooth..

Use Superbeam..

Upload it to an online storage (Google drive, dropbox, box, etc.) and send her a link.
Or there are probably some apps in the play store that will transfer files over WiFi.
Folders and files can't be sent with NFC. It's mainly for smaller things like photos, links and contact info.

Well good luck with that. Depending on how big the files are, you will most likely need some kind of internet. Bluetooth will be slow or have errors.

Is this how we work in the future?

I just made a very interesting setup.
It's a Google Nexus 5, USB-connected to a Philips 231P4UPES DisplayLink monitor. Keyboard en mouse works, but i have no display, because there is no displaylink driver for android .
Now, lets think it works. Do you still need your laptop/tablet/desktop or other device?? I think not. My phone is fast enough with full HD. I can use all internet application and android apps, and on my work I can connect to VDI without a problem.
I say this is ultimate way of working.
(I made a picture of it, but cant post it, since this is my first post)
If your phone is rooted, then you can see your phone's screen on your web browser, using WebKey app. It is a remote device management app through wifi. You need internet access. Watch tutorials on youtube on how to setup it and start using it.

True, but I think that there is still a problem regarding with capacity. Both internal phone memory and external SD are not enough to replace a hard disk.
You can use a USB hub for your device. Then you can connect USB flash drives and hard disks.

Plus the clouds! The future won't spare mechanical hards - it's like internal combustion engine - it had its glorious times and now it's time to move on. Especially when the advantages of Sylicium was discovered.. All Hail SSD!
Oh btw you can buy a 2,5'' chipcard with 12 removable microSD cards up to 64GB and use it as hdd..
Everything will change. We will have everything on cloud services and we won't use many cables.

There's a much easier way to access your phone from a PC, download AirDroid from the appstore, its free, and doesn't require rooting at all, once installed, you can access your phone from any PC either thru wifi or thru the internet, then go to "web.airdroid.com" from any PC browser, and scan the QR code on the screen with AirDroid on your phone. It'll automatically link up and give you access to everything on your phone thru the webapp, including pushing data from PC to phone clipboard, full keyboard texting, and drag-and-drop file transfer from PC to phone.
Can airDroid show your Android screen on your browser?

[Q] Usb OTG maximum storage?

Hey guys, im planning on buying an usb stick and of course i will use it on my nexus 5 too. I am thinking of this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00AXWOLO6/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&psc=1&s=computers
But i don't know if 64 gb is supported by Usb OTG, has someone tried or can try and come back to me?
Edit: It worked, if anyone is wondering.

Ok. Its just that unlike Samsung galaxy s3 (onwards) the nexus 5 cannot power mechanical drives through its USB host port. I expect you'd need a powered USB hub to power and use a mechanical drive.

Hardware as far as I know. The S3 was the first that could do this without external power. Not all devices follow suit. Mechanical parts require a lot of power compared to flash

So any size usb stick or a external drive with its own power source. I'm using a 128gb stick.

Is your drive in NTSF format? Android only recognizes FAT32. Try a drive formatted as FAT32 and see what happens.
I am using my 1TB WD harddrive(ntfs).
It works fine with StickMount. I never needed external power source.
But it eats the battery extremely fast at almost 1%-2% per minute.
But the USB-Y cable should work fine for powering usb hard drive.

Tell me some good uses of a Xperia L without network connectivity

So you guessed it right from the title, my Xperia L doesn't have network connectivity or a very weak one thanks to an idiot local mechanic who f*cked it up trying to fix lose USB port. Now I am not even getting deals for this phone as no other mechanic is able to fix this thing.
So I want to know some good uses I can make out of this phone other than my kernel development!
Using it to play songs through AUX cable is one use I found but would like to know what you guys think.
eBay. Or download the manual for it and fix it.

So WiFi still works? , or is it both 3G & WiFi? If the WiFi still works and you have a Chromecast, use it as a remote for Youtube/Netflix/HBOGO playback on Chromecast.

I think you went to a Butcher rather than a mechanic!
Anyway, it's a long shot, but have you tried dismantling the phone yourself? what may have happened is that the antenna might have come loose i.e the contact to the cable or the cable itself. if you can stablise it or repair the contact, it may give you full connectivity again!

SD Storage solution

While not as good as having an SD slot - this could be of some help. I'm sure you wouldn't leave it hanging all the time and most likely have to remove it to charge if your not using wireless charging.

I promise I'm not griefing but rather curious.... I am extremely satisfied with the 100 gigs of storage you get with OneDrive when you buy the Note 5. Any of my large files I have put in the cloud or if they are videos I either upload them to social media or put them on my PC for editing and don't forsee an issue with the 32 gigs of onboard storage. I guess I'm just wondering what sort of data an SD device like this accounts for due to a lack of expandable memory.
