Tell me some good uses of a Xperia L without network connectivity - Sony Xperia L

So you guessed it right from the title, my Xperia L doesn't have network connectivity or a very weak one thanks to an idiot local mechanic who f*cked it up trying to fix lose USB port. Now I am not even getting deals for this phone as no other mechanic is able to fix this thing.
So I want to know some good uses I can make out of this phone other than my kernel development!
Using it to play songs through AUX cable is one use I found but would like to know what you guys think.

eBay. Or download the manual for it and fix it.

Play Games!

Use it as a camera. Because it can be a really good one if you get the settings right.

Even if I get some takers on eBay then the deal won't struck for above than 4k INR which is very bad. So I am just gonna keep it.

any accessories for Xperia L that allow to output the screen to TV via USB port?
make it become an Android TV box

if the wifi works good maybe you can attach a hard drive via otg (with a powered hub how-to) and use as dlna server

I wish my tv had wifi so that I could stream videos easily.

You went to a mechanic instead of electronic engineer/service center!! Lol!!!
Just kidding!

Well I call him a mechanic because he wasn't professional in dealing in modern day phone. Regretting not going to someone else in first place now.

- Use it as a camera?
- eBook Reader
- Movie player
- Door stop
- Drink Coaster
- Replacement for a ping pong bat

sarcastically use of xl is that it is full of bugs..

Play games, read books, watch movies, hear songs, browse Internet, take pictures, chat with friends on Internet

The title says ,,Tell me some good uses of a Xperia L without network connectivity,,......

So WiFi still works? , or is it both 3G & WiFi? If the WiFi still works and you have a Chromecast, use it as a remote for Youtube/Netflix/HBOGO playback on Chromecast.

Wait for Flipkart Exchange offer and Exchange it.
You will get atleast 4k ~5k

Web cam Tho my XL works I use it as a Skype webcam connected via USB and DroidCam app

I think you went to a Butcher rather than a mechanic!
Anyway, it's a long shot, but have you tried dismantling the phone yourself? what may have happened is that the antenna might have come loose i.e the contact to the cable or the cable itself. if you can stablise it or repair the contact, it may give you full connectivity again!

Allshare like app for Nexus S?

I just sold my Vibrant and bought a Nexus S and was wondering if there was another app like Allshare that I could use to stream movies from my PC to my phone.
I really like Allshare cause whenever my wife insisted on watching f'ing Jersey Shore I could allways bust out my phone and choose a movie from my library without have to get off the couch to upload it to my phone.

So we do have DLNA? I searched around and I couldn't find a definite answer.
Damn I was going to buy the nexus s but I use allshare all the time. Especially when family comes over. I stream the photos and hd home videos to my tv.
Do you think if I took the vibrant version and used it on the nexus it would work?
Dlna needed of course.

Twonky works for me, I stream to my ps3 and the nexus s does have dlna.

iMediaShare brings DLNA capabilities on any Android phone including Nexus S. In addition it also enable playback of online videos as well as sharing personal photos from Facebook and Picasa.
Hmmm.
I tried searching for imediashare (and scanning the QR codes that are on their website) but it's not showing up in my Market....must be a protected app or something.
Oh well.
Damn it. Maybe I could get the imedia apk found some where.

I was able to find Twonky though.

I read on another thread that the Allshare app on the Vibrant is tied into its framework and would have to be modified to work.

Try again. It should be there now
Last post is December, so did you guys find a way or did everyone settle with Twonky, Skifta and iMediaShare?
You can stream video with Gmote.
Although the dlna works fine I really wanted the AllShare app to control the TV, anyone know how to get it on the Nexus S or at least why can't we?!
Is there an OS version issue, cause I have downloaded like 3 AllShare apk but none works.
I`m currently using the 2.3.4 version.
Thanks in advance,
BRunohenri

Can we have that on our device?
We do not have nfc

Did a lot of searching on the internet and was quite disappointed that our device does not have the required NFC hardware for Android Beam... Now this is very sad..

actually u can use the app named bump it doesnt require NFC.. it uses bluetooth to transfer and accelerometer to detect the sudden change of movement to transfer files form 1 device to another
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bumptech.bumpga&hl=en
thanx again shriomman thank you for your help again. i've tried Bump some time ago, and i'm not quite sure if it uses bluetooth or internet to share the files.

Hello need help to find this app

Hey any one know about an app that i could leave my phone somewhere and watch the camera from my tablet or someting similar??

Try ipwebcam. I used to use it on my phone to use as a webcam, and you can view the stream online which I don't see why you wouldn't be able to do with your tablet.
I'm sure there are other webcam apps out there also. I seem to remember using one that streamed the camera over wifi but I can't remember the name of it.

Did a little bit of digging for you.
This is the only thing I found on the S3 and WiDi (aka. be compatible with the device you listed above)
http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-s-iii/189506-anyone-try-sgs-iii-w-widi-wi-fi-display-adapter.html
To be honest, the thread was pretty messy, but overall definitely has some interesting information
I'm thinking it should work. I saw another thread where someone said it worked with their note 2

Personally I run a:
http://www.amazon.com/Adapter-HDMI-3FHU-Samsung-Galaxy/dp/B0080CXSOU
to connect to my home theater. Not sure how well the wireless video/audio would turn out.
In my experience streaming anything over the air turns out poorly.
I guess the wireless nature of it all could be convenient though

I have the mhl adapter also, but it gets annoying having to constantly hook it up every time I wanted to watch a movie. At the same time, I don't wanna sacrifice sound quality just to be wireless. I'm torn!!!!!

Android phone as media server hotspot

I want to use an old android phone with otg and connect it to a portabe hdd and use it as a wifi hotspot hdd to stream movies to other android devices. I have gone around the house and found a solution but its very cumbersome. Does anybody know a simple method that does streaming that is reliable.
Many thanks in advance

Put bubbleupnp on both the storage\server phone and on the phone you want to be the player. Think there are a few YouTube videos on how to use it. That's what I use personally.
