I had a perfectly working rooted HDX 8.9 running on safestrap in dual boot mode with the original FireOS and an clean Android with all Google Apps. Yesterday, I rebooted to FireOS and the damn thing updated the OS to ver. 14.3.2.2 in the blink of an eye, the one where apparently there is currently no root available. Am I stuck now to FireOS? After the Update, Safestrap is not active any more and the device has lost root.
Is there any feasible option to downgrade the HDX Apollo to 14.3.2.1 ?
Help is warmly appreciated...

I just rooted my Galaxy tab 2 7". I also have a Kindle Fire and I had issues with the Fire where it got an OTA update and I lost root. Could the same thing happen to the gtab? If so, I'll put a custom ROM on it asap.
Or put simply: does or can the Samsung get over the air updates to the OS that can break root?
I have successfully kept root and wifi tethering enabled since the first root exploit on my Droid Maxx and when Sunshine became available I was super excited and used it to unlock my bootloader. I then unrooted, used the OTA update to go to 4.4.4 and was still tethering with EntitlementBypass-v1.2.apk. I don't know what changed but yesterday it just quit working for me. When I try turning the native tethering on now all i get is a message that says "Error". There is no explanation of what the error is. I also tried flashing 21.11.21tether_twrpinstall with the same result. I am willing to use a rom or anything that allows me to wifi tether again, I just want to know that it will work beforehand.
Has anyone in a similar situation (unlocked bootloader on 4.4.4 rooted with TWRP installed) managed to get any wifi tethering to work?
I ended up flashing Snake's Venom 4.4.4 Moto X Port Build #96 for XT1080 and the tether works great. Here's a link to the XDA thread for anyone in a similar situation:

Very nice
Hi all,
I got very used to using Cyanogenmod on my N5 before lollipop arrived, but I have now moved to a completly stock (unrooted) N5. I have to use a particular app (its from Three UK which allows me to get phonecalls/txts over wifi broadband) which has a root detection inbuilt. I did have xposed root cloak which worked well, but as xposed is not on lollipop I cant use it.
Is there a way of cloaking root on lollipop that works? I miss having a rooted device so much! Its so very very slow at the moment. I am very tempted at getting kitkat reinstalled, but I will miss some features of lollipop.
Thanks guys.
Just tried cydia, but that doesn't seem to work on lollipop.
There is no method to hide root as yet
i use cm 13 with magisk 18, not work hide root. Any customroom that support hide root /safetynet bypass for e-banking app ?
I have a rooted kindle fire hdx running OS 4.5.5.1. It has root access using kingroot 4.5.0
Should I back device up?
For a couple of years I've used an old Android 4.2.2 tablet for one purpose only: tether wifi Internet connection to my router. Recently it fell and the screen broke.
I've purchased a cheap 7" tablet (IRULU x67) to replace the broken one, for the same function. It runs Android 7.0 and I could not find any TWRP or CWM custom recovery for this no-brand name device. All guides I found for rooting Marshmallow and Nougat devices require the use of custom recovery and Magisk. Pushing su and busybox to /system/bin, like in older Androids, doesn't work.
Can anybody point me to any working method to root this Android 7.0 tablet? I need this very badly and it MUST be rooted!
