Hello, this is my first post in XDA and i would like to thank everyone for making all these resources and information available online.
Ok here is the story:
I was trying install SlimBean 4.2.2 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2185107 on my SGH-T679. I had TWRP on the phone. The problem came with the gapps( well not sure the download link is not working) i could not find the gapps for the rom. Every time i flash, after rebooting some of the apps were not working correctly..eg it keep saying calender storage is not responding. So the phone was sluggish and kept freezing.
I tried re-flashing with the latest gapps 4.4.2 on the SlimBean official website but it was not working correctly either cause the rom was version 4.2.2 and UNOFFiCIAL.
So i decided i tried the previous gapps in this thread to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2029362 and reflash it. now After rebooting and the phone start up, it got stuck in " unfortunately the process com.google.prosess.gapps has stopped'..then i press ok...it gives unfortunately setup wizard has stopped and keeps saying that forever
i thought it was no big deal:silly: i just reflash it again but now i cannot go in recovery mode anymore. Everytime i reboot the phone and press V+ it does nothing... it just continue...show the SlimBean logo and get stuck in the setup wizard thing. I even connected the phone my computer , i cant access the exter sd card folder either..
The only thing that is still working is the download mode .. when i reboot the phone and press v- it does go to download mode.
So guys what course of actions should i take to resolve this issue? I cant fasboot to reinstall the recovery cause my computer (windows 8.1) cannot correctly detect my phone when it is not working. do i need to download odin?
I would appreciate any help

Yeah I tried this driver before.. after reboot and I plug my phone
it says usb connected then a window pop up saying installing driver for this device,,,,and stay stuck there forever. No matter how much time I wait for it to install the goddam driver it never completes it.
So yeah...as for the abd interface driver , I downloaded it. do I need to do something specific with it? I already have the adt bundle on the laptop

Hello everybody,
I am new to the forum and also new to Androids. After years of using iPhones and finally becoming fed up Apple, I've decided to try something new (please don't judge my prior smartphone selection and start posting opinions about the 2 operating systems, I do not want this thread to turn into one of the "battle of the phones" thread that I've experienced many times on iPhone forums). My friend recently got an S3 and had no use for his Galaxy S 4g, so he gave it to me so that I could try out an Android. There was one issue though, he said that the phone would not get past the Galaxy S screen and would keep re-booting itself (stuck in a boot loop). He said if I could figure out a way to fix it then it's mine.
That being said, here's my dilemma. I've tried many different methods to get the phone out of a boot loop. The first method I tried was putting the phone into restore mode and selecting the "reinstall packages" option. After this executes I get the message:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1
(no such file or directory)
E:Can't mount SDCARD:update.zip
Installation aborted.
After some further research I discovered a nice little program called Odin I read a lot about Odin and how to properly use it. After trying at least 5 different methods to get the phone into download mode with no success, I purchased a jig. The jig did the trick and instantly put me into download mode, I was ecstatic and hopeful that I could now fix the phone with Odin. I connected the phone to my PC in download mode, but Odin still didn't recognize the phone (I tried many versions of Odin, 1.85, 1.87, and the most recent 3.07). I do have the latest drivers for this phone, which I downloaded from Samsung's website. The phone will charge through the computer but the computer does not recognize it otherwise and will not allow me access its mass storage (I am running Windows 7 64 bit). I have tried using a different USB cable, and I have tried to use a different PC, the other PC I used popped up with a message saying that Windows could not successfully download the drivers (that was after I downloaded the drivers from Samsung's webpage and plugged the phone into the computer). I've even tried transferring stock firmware onto an external SD card and loading it onto the phone from restore mode (is that even possible to do?). I have also tried running Odin in compatibility mode, still didn't detect the phone. I should probably also mention that Kies Mini also does not recognize the phone. I asked my friend if he ever tried rooting this phone and he said no, so I'm assuming this issue has nothing to do with a failed attempt to root.
I really want to get this phone working, but I have run out of options to try. I am hoping that someone on here has a solution for me from a similar experience. After reading through the forum, I have noticed that people on here are very helpful and also very friendly; something that I can say is very different from some of iPhone forums I've used. I apologize if there is already a similar thread to mine, I've read through many threads and none of the solutions have worked for me. I also apologize for my first post being so lengthy, I just wanted to state all of the methods that I've tried to fix this phone. Thanks for your replies.
Hi hubbs134
You have come to the right place.
First,
I suggest you read a little bit about this phone and how to put it in Recovery (by holding Volume Up + Volume Down + Power until you see the SGS4G splash screen) and Download modes, it will help you in the future.
You can find it all in the Wiki.
Second, use this guide to One-Click Heimdall your way to Stock KJ6 2.3.6 Gingerbread ROM (latest official ROM for this phone).
If you use this file (instead) with that guide, you will also get phone rooted, or else you will need to make another flash of a rooted kernel (as the guide suggests).
Now, if you have the official latest stock, but still want some ICS/JB lovin', if you have CWM recovery v5 (you will see the recovery info once you're in that mode), you can flash CM9/AOKP/HebMIUI/UltraGen/RemICS/CM10/Slimbin/etc. etc. etc. ROMs.
Enjoy and welcome aboard!
P.S what the @#%#$ were you doing with an iphone ?

It sounds like you can't use Odin because of a windows issue. Try installing linux. I use ubuntu

No need to replace PC OS...
1. Uninstall all your Java versions and Samsung drivers and reboot.
2. Reinstall Java 1.7u..
3. Follow the guide, it should work.
When you reinstall the driver through Heimdall - it will appear as Gadget device.
Good luck !

Ok I got the device connected and I got Zadig running, however, there is no option for "Samsung USB Composite Driver" on the drop down list, on "gadget Serial", "Gadget Serial Control (interface 0), and "1.3 HD Webcam (Interface 0)'. What should I do?
On the one-clicks, you don't actually want to use zadig. Apparently it conflicts, which is awesome for something that gets released WITH the tool.
If you're doing manual Heimdall, make sure you've told zadig to list all devices in the menus. Your phone should show up after that.
If you're using a one-click, make sure you're using a USB port on your computer where you have NOT installed zadig, Kies, or Samsung official drivers. Follow the steps in the one-click religiously, and it should cooperate.
Follow the guide %100 then Odin should work

Ok I ended up getting the phone to register in Odin. I flashed it with the stock rom in Odin and it said success. The phone booted and it seemed like it was going to work but then the recovery menu came up. I posted a screen shot of what it says, what action should I take from here? Thanks
I am also in a different boot loop now, before it would load to the first screen (black screen saying samsung galaxy 4g) then restart, now it boots to past the splash screen to where it says "Samsung" and then reboots back to the screen where the pink letters roll across the whole screen. I don't need to flash bootloaders do I?
Looks like recovery is broken or the updater script on the ROM you're trying to flash is messed up. Flash a new and the proper recovery via Odin then download a new Rom and either sideload it or mount usb from recovery and push it... Or you could just use Odin XD
EDIT: Samsung's are easy to brick and hard to debrick it may take a couple of trys

OK GREAT NEWS! After flashing with Odin and that screen popping up, I clicked update from SD card, which failed. I then click system reboot, which brought me into the new boot loop. I put back into download mode and re-flashed with One-Click. Same recovery menu came up as before but when I clicked reboot system it hung at the "Samsung" black screen (after the splash screen) for about 20-30 seconds and then booted up I'm afraid to turn the phone off and see if it reloads lol. Is it safe to say that it is fixed? Or should I still follow your advice and run the proper recovery in Odin and then sideload a new rom? Or take different action? Thanks for all your help guys! Everyone gets a thanks click for being so helpful and friendly on an unhappy/confused/pissed off/ now happy new Android user!
Ok I just put my Tmobile simcard in and the phone is not detecting the sim. Any suggestion?
The IMEI number and baseband both say "unknown", I'm assuming this has to do with the simcard not registering?

What Heimdall package are you applying ?
After JAR package runs you are ready to go.
As I wrote, according to guide you can reinstall "Gadget" driver.
EDIT :
Enigma, if you're not an owner of an SGS 4G please stop advising.
Odin is not the common way since we have MTD ROMs and it had its problems.
hubbs134,
blank IMEI is a serious problem. without a proper IMEI your device is everything but a phone.
Try this : take battery off, press the POWER button for 10 seconds, leave device untouched for 15 minutes and then put battery back and power up.
This could bring your IMEI back to life. If not... maybe another flash will help.
P.S
The 3e recovery image you put on post #14 is a snapshot of the the stock unrooted ROM recovery.
So My Friend Cellphone's "LENOVO A369i" has been Bricked .. To put the stock rom back on lenovo device, it must be powered off. (if it has a removable battery it must be removed).
preinstal the drivers into pc/laptop.
open device manager
plug in lenovo.
if device manager says 'mediatek,,,,' you are a winner & can use the sp flash tool included in the zipped rom to instal the rom.
if device manager says 'unknown device' you have 2 seconds to click on it & select update driver and a point to the downloaded lenovo driver (then it will be as above).
When you get green circle you are complete and may disconnect and put battery back in.

So if you are using windows 8 or higher version of windows then simply you have to degrade it to windows 7 or lower to install USB driver's
Hey,
I just flashed the firmware from another region and I have no idea why but it has failed at the end of the transfert.
Now I've got the blue screen saying that I need to connect my device to my computer and use the Emergency recovery function in SmartSwatch but it doesnt recognise my device...
I tried to reinstall the driver, change the usb port but it keeps failing!
Any idea?
I still have access to the download mode but when I try with the same file it failed, I'll try to download another firmware to see if it works.
Thanks
Connect it to Kies on your computer and use Kies factory firmware recovery setting to get your phone back up and running.
Neither Kies, Kies3 or Smart Swatch was able to see my device???
However I was able to flash the firmware using Odin :good:
I may try to re-download and install again a firmware from another region but it's pretty scary now
Yeah I know it's pretty stupid but I really want this TWRP to be working^^

Ok now I have download but no software recognises my phone and Odin fails...
By forcing my mobile to go into download mod (push Home Button + Volume Down+Power) after a couple of attempts it finally goes into the download mod.
If you can go into the download mod but OdinPC still doesn't work you have to try with another computer but if you can't go into download mod....
Hope you can fix it
even i have the same issue with my phone, its not detected by smart switch or any kies at all and now my phone is just a brick, plz help.
did you try to downgrade your os?
if so you need a firmware equal or bigger than the one you installed.
once you enter your sn in smart switch it will start downloading fw for your phone, and store it temporary in a temp folder.
From there you can copy fw to some other location on your disk, and flash it via Odin.
Use odin to load the stock AP file. Solve my problem.
Hi xda members, im new in here and i was hoping for a bit of help
My phone is galaxy s6 SM-920T
I was reading on the net when the phone powered off and started restarting and restating again and stuck at book logo "powered by samsung".
I am not able to go into recovery mode but i can open the os download mode.
Tried many times with odin and no luck
I think due to the phone being full encrypted by me nothing can be done, is there any posibility? Thanks
The same here. I cant get into recovery. I had Terminator Rom installed. I can get into download mode but odin doesnt detect it. I eventoght the usb door was damadged so paid 60$ do replace it at samsung. But odin still doesnt not recognize it. Odin does recognize my Samsung Tablet 4.

I've had cases where you had to put the phone into download mode THEN open Odin for it to be seen. Maybe try that.
With it in download mode and plugged up open devices and printers and scroll to bottom and see if it shows up. Would be called gadget_serial. Some computers take a while to load the drivers for it as well. You may want to click little popup menu on bottom right of desktop by the time and date and see if it shows it is loading drivers for it. It will not show up until the gadget serial drivers are installed.
Thanks for the help. Nothing worked. It doesnt not recognizes the S6 only my Galaxy Tab 4. Could it be that the usb door wasnt repaired proprely ? Windows doesnt even detect the phone no gadget_serial. Nothing.
Make sure that You're using USB 2.0 not 3.0. My Note 4 worked through usb3.0 without any problem. And S6 doesn't. And if Odin reflash won't fix it. Get pit file and flash it with it.

So it doesn't recognize it all all? Doesn't give you unable to read device error or anything?

First thing to try would be flashing stock firmware with Odin.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/rb8iduv2o9i1ece/G920TUVS3DOJC_G920TTMB3DOJC_TMB.zip?dl=0
I recommend Odin 3.10.6

Sounds like DRK may be damaged.
Take the stock OKC firmware and open the archive with 7-zip or winrar and extract the system.img and boot.img.
Download and unzip this:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/bsreazoonsw4gwv/tar-Tool_Odin3-v3.07_by_mkh.mourad.zip?dl=0
Copy/paste the system.img and boot.img into the software directory and run the batch file. It will spit out a system.tar.md5 and boot.tar.md5
Flash the system.tar.md5 with Odin as AP then flash the boot.tar.md5 as AP.
Report back
thank you gonna have to try tomorrow due to bad USB cables, will let you know thank you so much for your help
If all else fails, just boot your phone into download phone and install Samsung Kies and restore it using that.
You will need the model & serial number of your phone. It will restore the latest stock firmware on your phone for you..

You cant, I suggest using a friend or family member's serial number that has the same model phone.. the serial number is a way of identifying the correct carrier specific rom.
G920TUEU3COK1_G920TXAR3COK1_G920TUEU3COK1_HOME.tar.md5
G920T1UVU3DOI5_G920T1TMB3DOI5_G920T1UVU3DOI5_HOME.tar.md5
Reflash your phone with one of this ROM will help you to make your problem resolved 100%
